Hello,
Whatever the kernel with root I flash in my SGS2, I can't connect any bluetooth keyboard any more. When I press a key, the connection is very brief.
This is a very annoying bug.
Are you sure it isn't the keyboard at fault?
More info needed.
What rom
What kernel
What keyboard
I'm using right now the official stock ROM, XWKL1 version, with an official kernel. If I flash the Speedmod kernel (r19 test 1), I can't connect any bluetooth keyboard any more, and I must flash the official kernel if I want this feature back.
The pairing works well, but if I press a key on the bluetooth keyboard, the phone asks me for authorizing the connection. From there, as soon as it connects to the device, the connection ceases immediately. I can barely read "Connection to HID Device" as it appears very briefly, and that's all I can get if I have the root permissions.
My keyboards are the Beewi BBK200 and the Halterrego HWrite. They have been tested under Windows without any flaws. They also have been tested with the official kernel from a freash flash, and they also work flawlessly as long as I don't flash a custom kernel.
The same problem happened with an official XWKK2 ROM and Siyah kernel.
bumppity bump?
Yeah..bumpy. Only CF Root works, all the rest don't.
Known issue. Only the original kernel can use Bluetooth hid. Cf root kernel works because it repacks the original kernel as is.

Hi,
Up to 2.2 samsung roms there are still 2 annoying bugs present. Please fix them Samsung
- Powermanagemet widget doesn't get the "GPS state changed" event
(it does get the BT and Wi-Fi state changed events)
- ecompass (mmc31xx) device driver in kernel is still not correct / erratic.
The ecompass device driver is in the kernel (boot.img) and two drivers are
/dev/mmc31xx
/dev/ecompass_ctrl
I also have tried to remove /data/misc/sensors/ecs_nvm and rebooted, but
that didn't fix it. Error is in the kernel.
I know MadTeam have corrected erratic behaviour in a boot.img but it would be nice
if we could fix it afterwards in any kernel (or Samsung must fix it in the kernel)
You can view it's state by dialing *#0*# (compass should be callibr. with value "3")
Enable Accel. calibration by dialing *#4736767*738#
I even odin-ed the boot.img from I5500LUYJPE (2.2.1) but no avail.
The only thing working for Froyo 2.2 roms is boot-img-test6.tar.rar from MadTeam (http://www.multiupload.com/VXXROHWR2R)
Cheers
Does anyone knows how to get the magnetic device driver (mmc31xx) from
a working compass 2.1 firmware (boot.img flashed in /dev/bml?)
Is it possible to use that device driver as android 2.2 driver? Overwriting it on the root partition? Or linking to it somehow from a writable partition?
I am not that familiar with linux device drivers.
Thanks
Hello,
I am new here and have found some answers but no solution for this problem, so I try again by a new thread (sorry if I missed an answer)
I want to charge my tab through the usb connection to my pc or in my car and not only through the AC-adapter.
In the development discussion is this theme going on (page 101):

I don't kmow why this error, I am root, but anyway, I changed this value directly using root explorer and a text editor and it works for me, now I have enabled usb and non-samsung-charger charging.
Thanks a lot!

You are using Terminal Emulator ? If yes then no need to write adb shell, just su first then echo 1 > /sys/class/power_supply/battery/force_usb_charging
I followed this instruction by Using the Terminal Emulator. Changing to "1" works fine until I restart my tab, than its back to "0" and I do have to change it again.
How can I keep the wanted setting to "1" ?
Thanks for help in advance

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500 3G + Wifi
Latest nightly CM10.1 JB 4.2.2
TWRP 2.4.1.0
CM10 and 10.1 Jellybean come with USB charging already enabled. Wonder why yours doesn't work. Anyway you may need to change your kernel first before activating the feature. I heard A1 kernel works great, I use Pershoot kernels in both JB 4.1.2 and 4.2.1 which I interchange depending on what I need to do. Both have the feature. I also use stock ICS but I never bothered with the feature there.

John,
Thanks for your help.
Changed the kernel to the A1 1.8.4. P4 G3 and its working again.
I had the Kernel 3.1.10 from CM from somewhere in Januari on it and somewhere it went wrong with that one.
The A1 is doing what I needed.
Thanks
Peter
problem not solved
Today I updatet to the nightly 28-02 and noticed that charging over usb connection is not working. The kernel is back to [email protected]#4 Wed jan 16 05:31:00EST 2013 and guess what:
Charging through a usb connection to PC is disabled.
So I have to change the Kernel back to the A1 again.
kernel changed
Changed the Kernel to A1 version: 3.1.10_A1_V1.8.4. [email protected] #283 Sun Dec 23 16.02.03 EST 2012.
USB charging is working!
So I presume that in the Pershoots Nightly the Kernel is disabling usb charging. Or is there another way to activate the usb-charging?
Peter
Did a full wipe and installed the cm10.1 - 20130301 Nightly. Same issue. Had to install the A1 kernel again.
Updated to todays version 05/03/2013. Noticed that the Kernel has been updated to: [email protected]#4 SunMar 3 19:35:46 EST 2013.
No charging over usb connection.
Changed to A1 and charging is working.

you have to activate it.
the instructions are right above you. must be root.
i had it enabled automatically (for a short time), but this cauised issues with certain tabs in the suite (the touchscreen would go bonkers) when plugged in and booting, so i removed it. its also safer not to have it on by default, because not all pcs can supply a consistent voltage output. if the power going to the battery is waivering, it could potentially cause issue.
samsung did not have this enabled at all (probably for that very reason).
Thanks
Pershoot,
Thank you for your reply. The solution of activating as I copied above is only working until the next reboot.
I now understand why you did not activate this, and I will take good notice of your advice. Nevertheless it is rather strange that I do not experience any problem using the A1 kernel.
Greatings,
Peter

dont forget, thousands of people and their tabs have to be attenuated for with any changes done. it may work for you and your tab, but that doesn't mean it will work out for anyone else and their tabs.
there's a lot of variance there.
Suggestion
Maybe someone is able to make a third option in usb-connection-tab, so you can switch usb charging on and of, the same as MTP and PTP.
Settings>Storage and hit the menu button then 3 USB Options: MTP, PTP and Charging over USB
Hello, my first post in these forums. Have been exploring a bit through all the information, and I think I need some help. I am pretty experienced with networks and windows/linux usage and administration, but have been using an android phone for just 2 weeks.
I have a Sony Xperia U with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, as it came out of the box. Any updates have yet to arrive, PC Companion says that I am using the last available firmware but I know that this is not the case as several ICS firmwares have already been published. Bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked.
I would like to flash my phone manually to ICS, using the last (or the best as recommended by you) firmware update. I would like to start with a stock rom, try rooting and than try custom roms when I get accustomed to the process of flashing. Mostly, I want to use the phone to the most of it's abilities (battery, speed, graphics etc).
I have found here that last firmware is 6.1.1.B.1.89, but I could not find it here on the forums.
First, I am in a dilemma which .ftf file to use for my phone. I have downloaded:
XperiaU_ICS4.0.4_nu.ftf
ST25i_.54_Nordic_DevStaff.ftf
ST25i_6.1.1.B.1.54 GENERIC - user_Sony.ftf
I have checked two threads in more detail:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028139
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974430
What does SI Number or ROM Location 1263-1753 / WORLD mean? My number on the back of the phone (behind the battery) is 1261-9036. What happens if I flash 1263-1753 firmware to my phone? Please recommend an ICS firmware that performs well and is applicable to my phone.
Can I use ST25i_6.1.1.B.1.54 GENERIC - user_Sony - since there is no SI Number or ROM Location there? Can I root this firmware through Flashtool OR Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v26. I would like to root to be able to delete bloatware from Sony.
I have also looked at Freexperia project, but it says there that the version is still in development and has issues with FM Radio - which is something I use every day.
Other than this, I installed flashtool-0.9.10.1 on Windows 7. I installed the drivers in Flashtool\drivers. All drivers said "Ready to use". Rebooted the PC, switched off the phone. When I connected it while holding Volume-up, it said ready to use. When I connected it while holding Volume-down, it says device disconnected. Have tried reinstalling the drivers (Flashboot and Flashmode are selected), Windows Safe Mode, disabled Microsoft Security Essentials. I went to Device Manager (as suggested in the forums) and I uninstalled "Android Device", the drivers would still not work.
This morning I remembered that USB debugging was not checked on the phone - might this be the problem? I will try again when I get home. Please provide any other tips to connect the Xperia to Flashtool.
Thank you for all replies in advance. All best.
[UPDATE]
I went to Sony's website for unlocking the bootloader. Is the Android SDK necessary for Flashtool too? Do I need the android_winusb.inf file provided there?
Thanks for all the information here.
I flashed my phone with ST25i_6.1.1.B.1.54 GENERIC - user_Sony, along with [Kernel][Sony Xperia U][March - 24] Sliding_XU [Stock][CM]
First impression is that it is laggy, much slower than Gingerbread. Any recommendations?
All best.
if u are on stock android u will hate it. Its time for u to start searching and flashing custom stock based roms... These are usually VERYY smooth... NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT STAY AT STOCK ANDROID, trust me, u will want to take a hammer and smash ur phone... Also, consider using kernels that allow u to overclock ur phone... Do not worry, if u overclock from 1ghz to 1.15ghz i dont think u will have any problem... Have been using overclocked phone for 6 months and so far no problem...
Thank you for the reply. I am using CM 9 (FXP213) as of an our ago, and I can feel the amazing difference. As I can see, CM has very basic apps by default. As it says on the CM wiki:
Optional: Download any supplemental 3rd-party applications packages for the device you wish to use. (You have to install a 3rd-party app to get the Google apps, like Gmail, Play Store, and Youtube.)
Where do I download these from? Any other resources on CM that are good for a new user?
All best.
I was just curious is anyone has actually successfully updated one of these units to something other than the stock Froyo firmware.
I've read a lot about getting into recovery mode, SDE, etc, etc, but I'm wondering if anyone would care to comment on their experiences getting a working third party ROM on the devices and how that ROM performs in real-world use.
Thanks!
From my experience on what I heard from users that did try CM7 from openaos or CM9 from bizquite
Multiboot menu from openaos should work, but it won't show it on screen. So you have to put the image you want to boot on top in menu.lst to boot it by default. Also getting into recovery can be a bit of a pain especially when you installed SDE.
Showing the bootmenu, could be an easy fix for the home connect, but sadly I don't have one to make it work.
Menu.lst example for booting gingerbread on home connect:
Code:
Gingerbread||/openaos-gingerbread.img|/init|0
Archos|ARCHOS|ARCHOS|/init|0
Angstrom||/rootfs.img|/sbin/init|1

I'm using CYANOBIZ (cm9) on my 101it and I'm quite happy for now (the rom is still in developpement) and I will never use 2.x on any Android device
And I'm using kboot so I don't have to use a computer to update the kernel

kboot is indeed nice, however I don't know if the home connect has hardware volume up/down buttons to navigate the menu. kboot has no touchscreen support.

Hi all,
I have unlocked my bootloader on my Tablet Z SP311 16GB WiFi only model and attempted to install the nightly of pollux_windy from the CM team but got stuck in a bootloop on the CM logo screen.
I've now gone back to stock using an ftf file.
Don't suppose anyone knows when we will get a working 4.2.2 custom Rom for the SP311?
Or if someone could assist me with getting the pollux_windy CM Rom working that would be great.
Thanks for any help you can provide

I have it running on my SGP311. I had the boot loop too after installing, a wipe fixed it for me.
The wipe fixed it for me, too.
The only thing not working is the gps. Do you have trouble with your gps aswell?
HDMI out over MHL is also not working with CM, right?

Regarding the GPS, I will check asap and feed you back.
For me the most important was implement the launcher NOVA LAUNCHER, You can mod all the tablet by this launcher, including some touch gestures.
Regarding the original app from SONY, really I dont miss them.

Just yesterday cm-10.1.0-pollux_windy.zip stable released. I will proceed to update. Hoping nothing fails......May be this fix the gps issue.

I flashed CM10.1 last week and it worked out flawlessly. The only problem I could think of that you missed is wiping data
I think GPS is still broken. Installed latest nightly and latest FXP build.

Yes, GPS still broken. It tried many thinks and Kali was working to find the fix, but no succeed by the moment.
There is two ways to solve the problem you can try:
- GPS needs to be activated running lock position at least one time on stock ROM. 3 Location modules needs to be enabled an be sure your GPS is working on google maps, navigation..... After this you can change already to custom ROM and GPS will lock whithout problems.
- The other way is to use the GPS of your android mobile. If you have SGP311, you will have always your android mobile very near. Install the app bluetooth GPS as client (tablet) and server (mobile) and all work fantastic. (This is the option Im running now).
Android Phone:
Step 1) Open Market and/or Install: GPS 2 Bluetooth
Step 2) If you do don't see the widget then reboot your phone.
Step 3) Turn on GPS
Step 4) Turn on your widget (press it)
Step 5) Turn on Bluetooth and pair with your SGP311.
Tablet SGP311:
Step 1) Open Settings
Step 2) Open Developer Options
Step 3) Enable "Allow Mock Locations" & Enable "USB Debugging"
Step 4) Open Market and/or Instal: Bluetooth GPS
Step 5) Turn on Bluetooth and pair with your android phone
Step 6) Open Bluetooth GPS
Step 7) Activate/Enable "Enable Mock GPS Provider"
Step 8) Press Connect.
ENJOY, finally you are not using the GPS all times. (GPS in tablet also activated...)
Comment your results from option you choose from above, thanks.
