I haven't seen any posts about this over here in XDA, so I thought people might want to know and give it a try. I read in a post in the TP forum of android central about a possible WiFi fix. It's a patch in preware. I didn't have too many problems with WiFi before, other than poor signal strength, But this is supposed to help other problems as well.
I installed the patch from preware and so far, so good. Hard to say if it is better, but I can easily unpatch it, so give it a try.
Trying this when I get in

Awesome, works perfectly, thanks!
edit: seems to have fixed my issue with weather bug too.
Is there any way to remove the fake icon from status bar though, that's really annoying.
Thanks again
Install Facebook 1.5.2 it doesn't need GPS to work. Its an old version but atleast you won't need an extra app or the ugly icon in ur status bar.

Not trying to be a **** here, but seriously, its not like it was just mentioned briefly, its ALL over the place. I mean holy crap.

x1 freaking billion. Wtf, take TWO seconds and search people!!
I did search. I used the "search this forum" at the top. Two results came up, this thread and another just like it, without any information on how to make it work. I'm not going to search for hours in detailed advanced searches and read every post in an "issues" thread. If the search cannot find it, then I ask about making it work.
Certainly no-one held a gun to your head and made you come in here to read it.....
Just use the website. It works great as it actually is more usable thanks to its tablet formatting.
The newest version of the facebook app for Android looks like the old one for the iPhone right?
If you look in Development there is one that has a nicer icon.

Yup, the icon just messes up the look of the TP. :|
Why would u want to use the FB app when u can just use the actual website which is much better than any of the apps
Just flashed cm7.1 stable release and can't find anywhere to set a wifi proxy. At work I need to use a proxy or I can't get to any of the good sites
Nobody else uses a wifi proxy from their phone??
Alright, I still don't know the answer to this and I can't post in the CM forum because I don't have 10 posts yet. So I restored back to UnNamed v1.1 which honestly I like more.
However, I think this is still a valid question and I hope someone answers it anyway.
I wish I could've helped but I'm not running cyanogenmod and have been way too busy to flash it.
Thank you for updating with your progress. Hopefully someone can post an answer.

Most likely because:
1) You wanted an answer on New Years
2) An answer within 8 hours (goes with #1)
3) The fact you're not rooted makes what you are experiencing something that should not happen and really few options to fix it.
4) The rootzwiki thunderbolt forums are generally more active, but if you need instant answers and "OMG I CANT WAITTTT IT'LLL KILLL MEEEEEE," then I suggest going on IRC
I would root and install something else (another ROM) or return the phone and complain to verizon about it.
yeah, it just seems like your best option is to root or return it, considering it's brand new and you already tried a factory reset. I would probably return it...who knows what's causing that issue on the stock firmware, or what issues it might cause on other ROMs.
are you able to download to the phone from other sources, or is it definitely just the Market?

2) was 700 miles from home
3) this was second post
4) this is the q n a section, is it not?
5) ive been with xda for a long time, if you look at my past, you see helpful posts, not smartass answers like yours.

Not to start a war but your 2nd post seemed smart ass to me. Also sounded like a slight knock to the forum as well.
Sorry no one could be at your hands and feet groveling with answers, but as pointed out to you, its the holidays and people have things going on.
more patience and maybe asking the second time in a nicer tone might have helped...

So i didnt ask nice the first time? Also, this was not my first post, the other got no answer also, so when i post 2 questions, nicely, and get nothing, well it makes you wonder. Ive been around these forums longer than some of the mods, ive never seen that in all my time here. If my post offended anyone, i do apologize, but as far as people doing things, well it wasnt like i was just sitting at my phone, i was taking the wife and kids across 3 states to visit family and traveling in a car 1500 miles. Thats why there is an xda APP. You dont need a pc.

Ooooooooooook, I think we're done here.
im hoping some ppl will be able to give me some good advice. i am currently running JEDI XV13 on my Note II. I found out the hard way that there is some type of bug with the gps. when i try to get turn by turn directions it gets hung up while searching for signal. does anyone know if and how i can solve this problem? does anyone have any good ROM recommendations? i am not really a big ROM flasher, nor am i into theming or anything like that. to be honest the only reason i rooted my phone was bc my friend said it was a good thing to do so if anyone has any thoughts or advice on anything ive mentioned i would greatly appreciate it

Noob mistake. Use the search function before asking a question. Chances are you will find an answer to most questions you have.
GPS Status and Toolbox should help for the GPS
Beans ainec IMHO (there is a thread recommending, just need to search)

I don't know why some people insist on calling n00bs out for everything. They too were once a noob. Your question is fair- there are two things you can do:
1. Turn on GPS and try to navigate somewhere, then go into Settings/More Settings under Wireless and Network/Mobile Networks/ and change the Network mode to CDMA/LTE to Global or vice versa. See if that works.
OR
2. Reflash back to Stock or whatever ROM you have had a GPS lock on and establish a lock. Then nandroid flash back to whatever ROM you want (i.e. JediROM). Try to navigate- most likely it will work.
I would advise though, hitting the Crtl F key... :highfive:

Really the way some noobs are treated they are turned away from the community. I have been guilty of *****ing out noobs before as have most of us. It gets very old to answer these questions every day when people could have used the search function to find the answer.
On the same hand the reason some of the noobs dont even come to XDA and screw up their phones by using roms and rooting methods is because of the attitude here at XDA and the way noobs get treated. Im not saying every noob gets treated badly but when the first post tells them to search without trying to answer the question that gives a initial impression of an assholish community.

Very true, but you can choose to sort thru one sub forum at a time and that geta rid of the majority of the posts that dont apply to you. Of course most noobs are confused by the way XDA is set up, I was confused by it a bit when I joined but it was a bit more disorganized then than it is now.
The reason most of us get a little annoyed with noobs and repetitive posts is when there are 3 posts that are the same thing one right after another and there is an answer in one but they didnt bother to even look at the Q&A section before posting.
The worst part though is when there are posts in thr Development sections, when I joined there was no Q&A sub forums and I still had enough sense to not post in Development.
Those of us who do try to donate our time and answer questions for new members need to leave our attitudes at the door when we start helping them unless it is warranted, and there most definitely are times that attitude is warranted. They are there asking for help because they honestly dont know what to do or don't understand a process and they asked for help not attitudes for posting a question in the Help and Q&A Thread. Its really giving the sitenas a whole a bad name because of the attitudes that some members have towards noobs even when they follow all the rules and have legitimate questions. I hate saying that about XDA because I love the site so much but it's the honest truth.

I've been having this issue for a while (I think I noticed it from the 20140416 nightly, not sure though). I experience random crashes here and there (everything will freeze and then the UI will "reset" itself), but they mainly happen when I try to pull down the notifications bar after unlocking my phone. It's pathetic that this happens, as I'm sure it's not a big deal to fix!!!
If this is in the wrong thread than please move to the correct section. As I'm a new user here, I can't post in the development section, unfortunately.
The first thing you should do is whipe your phone. Have you done this?
Probably why it's a nightly...

You declared that its easy to fix. So it seems that you have the knowledge to fix it, otherwise you wouldnt know that.
Anyways, dont expect a serious answer if you do several mistakes. First, posts like yours dont belong into the general section. They either belong into the respective rom thread or maybe Q&A. And even if you post there, none of the CM devs will ever read it. They avoid xda.
Then you also brag about a bug in a nightly. Guess what, nightlies are not supported. They are automatically generated builds. A bug report will be ignored (even if you use cm's bug tracker called jira). I can add more mistakes you did if you want.
