I am in query. I have an unlocked HTC titan and living in India. Will I get the recent update 8107. As there is no wording on unlocked devices.
You won't. Not now. You will with Tango.

Hi, I,m not saying you are wrong but I think the 8107 update will be global because most of the bug fixes are not carrier specific but were introduced with the Mango update.
If for instance if it was just people on O2 UK that were not getting voicemail notifications then from what Microsoft have said it would be down to O2 UK to request the fix, but as in the case of the 8107 update most of the bugs are applicable to everyone.
I own an un branded Titan and therefore I purchased the handset directly from HTC who are my carrier so if their handset has bugs then they should ship the update to all un branded owners.
A word of warning about forcing the update through the Cab sender method, you can "Walsh" your phone. I have had first hand experience with my HD7. If you install an update on it's own without the right language packs you can end up with a phone that will no longer see updates through Zune. The language packs versions must be appropriate to the update.

How can one determine if the phone is 'Walshed' or not?

one of the xda members "Heathcliff" has an .xap file that tells you the software version you have installed along with the language pack versions installed. Sorry I'm not an expert on it but I had to use the cab sender to put the right version language files on my hd7 after I forced the 7740 update. If you search the forums you will find more info. If I find the post I will add a shortcut.

Hi,
I'm successfully using an unlocked 02 XDA 32mb in South Africa. I see on www.myxda.com that 02 has a new software update out, offering many things such as faster GPRS. Sounds great, but what I want to know is, if I install this update, will I suddenly find myself with a locked phone again?
Secondly, does the GPRS baud rate setting make any difference at all?
Thanks,
Justin
No, unlocking using the Maniuplator uses the same mechanism you would have also used if you had been given the unlock code. Hence you will never be relocked by newer versions of the phone software.
Great.. now I can't get the software..
Hi,
That's great, but I tried to register on myxda.com and get the new software, but it won't accept my IMEI (Have double checked for typo's over and over again) - has anyone got the software for me?
Thanks!
Justin
Okay I found the updates on http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgradedownload/0,,170,00.html (ROM 3.14.13, RSU 4.16) but just browsing this site there appears to be so many different versions. Is this the latest/best version to use with my xda? It seems there are some bugs, and it may be better to stick with what I Have (ROM 3.02.00 ENG, RSU 4.01)
Quest
Be careful when you upgrade. Make sure it is
the right one or you might end up with a dead xda,
like lots of people who got the wrong upgrade.
It is better to upgrade from where the xda's supplier's web.
For example if you got a O2Xda from O2 Uk, you should
download the upgrade from there to be safe. ok?
ROM updates
My XDA is a Siemens SX%^ att&t can I use the O2 Rom Upgrades? Will I lose any functions? any knowledge? Thanks.
Steve
Jus, the upgrade on the O2 UK site is way better than your current 3.02 ROM. Definately upgrade, you will see big improvements.
Steve G, no your SX56 has different hardware to a UK xda. If you did run this upgrade it would screw it up. You need to speak to your supplier for upgrade software.
Does anyone know if they're going to release an official Vodafone ROM upgrade? I've contacted Vodafone and they sent me a text with a link for the orange ROM upgrade??? I was also told around mid-October that it would be released in a week??
are you sure they didnt send you to THIS page for all downloads, , , on which currently the top entry is the orange 3.14 rom? (and is also the page that any carrier 3.14 roms will appear)

Yes samsamuel, it was. I would have preferred it if they'd just said keep and eye on the hTc website, as that's what I've been doing for about 2 months anywez! Thanks for the reply m8. They sent me the following email:
Hello Paul,
Just to let you know that prior to releasing or approving any software update for our Vodafone customers who have bought a handset through Vodafone, we test it thoroughly to ensure it provides customers the best possible experience on our network.
Our testing process begins as soon as we receive the software, which often happens once the manufacturer has already released the open market version of the software.
During the review process, we report any issues with the software back to the manufacturer for them to address. Once the firmware is approved by Vodafone, we return it to the manufacturer and they will then distribute the software to customers through the appropriate channels.
We undertake this process with every device that we sell to customers, regardless of whether or not the handset contains Vodafone branded software.
If you have purchased the device from another company (Phones 4U, Carphone Warehouse etc) it is possible that the device may not be on the Vodafone version of software. In this case the manufacturer would be in control of releasing any future updates.
I trust the above information helps.
Kind regards,
Pravin Raut

Vodafone is so bloody annoying. I remeber it was released first on vodafone rather than orange, so how come orange got update before them. They had released ROM for HD mini, HD2 might be on the way....... no good vodafone !

I agree. I can't understand how orange got their update out before voda? Not only that, they then go and release a ROM upgrade for the hd mini? I just hope it comes out before year end?
Any news when Orange UK HTC Mozart will get the Mango update?

they said "fall"
Autumn?
Hi manishabanzadeh
I don't think Orange UK would have said "Fall", Autumn maybe but not fall.
In reality, Orange UK are quite often one of the slower operators to push any sort of software update, and I can remember as far back as the Nokia 6310i
Cheers
andrew-in-woking
I have to agree with andrew-in-woking, Orange UK were one of the very last to roll out Nodo, though Microsoft have been putting pressure on operators to release Mango very soon. The problem with Orange is that within the company everything is a 'need-to-know' basis. Most of the workers at Orange didn't even know that Nodo had been released until after the rollout. I've asked customer service and in store and either they have no idea what Mango is or they just can't get an answer from above on the release date. It's quite disappointing really, makes O2 start to shine a little more. Oh well, at least we got wp7 first
Orange UK being helpful... not:
@mattgarner Hi. I'm sorry but we don't have a release date at this time. As soon as we have an update, we'll let you know ^Jon

The update doesn't come from orange - it comes directly from microsoft
U can use the nodo forced update trick to force the update through - I've been running Mango since yesterday on my Orange branded HTC Mozart
Hey Guys,
Wondering if anyone has experienced the same as me a few days ago i saw a news thread over at WPCentral that 7740 was mysteriously rolling out to some devices. I decided to pop my phone onto Zune as i was too being prompted for an update the weird thing is OS version still says 7720 and the only thing i can see thats changed is that its removed the SIM ID out of the settings/about page. Does anyones else have this??
My Titan is an Unlocked/Unbranded UK/EU model and is legit unlocked Chevron developer unlocked.
I am the same as you, still waiting for the 7740 update.

Was you notified of an update and installed it like i did?
The update that's already been rolled out is to do with performance I think - mine's definitely faster since the update - but it's not the update to 7740 as yet.
Nothing for my unbranded dev unlocked from france. Still 7720

As the update said, it was a "HTC Update" which means a firmware update. Not an WP7 update.
We are ok with HTC update. Just asking why we don't have 7740 update now. Asking or surprising ! Everyone know it's two different things.

Sorry, missed that
Had the same thing happen. Phone said there was an Update for me. Connected to Zune and updated but still on 7720. I think it did say 'HTC update' though.
Anyone elses Wifi been playing up after the update? Mine still works, just seems to lose connection a lot more now..
UK HTC Titan (Unlocked, Unbranded)
Try to search for update again if you don't do htc update before. This update was available for about 15 days. I just took 7740 yesterday. It was not available before for me. Users from other HTC phones had it before. Why so late for titan ?

It's because 7740 is classed as 'minor carrier update' hence rolled out at different times from different operators. However SIM-FREE phones got this one earlier than those with contracted network providers.
I mean the 7740 came later for HTC titan than other phones like hd7 or trophy ... My titan is unlocked and unbranded "SIM-FREE"

Hello,
I synced my Outlook contacts to my Wiindows Phone. They are all saved with the internal ISD code in the format of +65 XXXXXXX in the names.
However, when someone calls the number shows up as only XXXXXXXX without the country code.
This error is really annoying me... and I just bought my first Windows Phone which is the HTC Titan.........
Hi Vikram,
This is a documented issue for people using a Titan in one country from another country.
I am using a UK Titan in Singapore, and I have the same issue.
Please post the following information, help us try and get to the bottom of this:
OS Version
Firmware Version
Source country of your Titan
(and out of interest, where did you buy it?)
Previously, people have experienced the same issue when porting WP7 to the HD2. See this thread. The poster there (Kjettern) installed a xap (a wp mini program) that edited the registry and made it work.
The regedit goes like this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallIDMatch"=dword:8
A guy in Singapore with a Trophy got it work with this method (Trophy is an earlier version of WP7, not WP7.5 like the Titan).
So I figured to do the same thing. To do that you need to unlock your device then edit the registry (or install a xap that does the same thing).
...exept that even if you can unlock your Titan (either developer unlock or chevron unlock), then you still can't edit the registry due to it not being INTEROP UNLOCKED.
A couple of nice people (Heathcliffe74 and GoodDayToDie are trying to get interop unlock working on HTC devices but no joy on Titan so far (it ships with the updates on it).
SO, the news is - wait til someone cracks it, and then we might have a solution.
Funnily enough, Kjettern in Norway now has a Titan, using the same European ROM (I think) as the rest of us...and he has no problem with the CallerID/contact card issue. But then the Norway Titan is designed for use in Norway (see the back of the Europe model box) so maybe there is additional regional coding in the OS somewhere?
In the meanwhile, I have apocrophylic news that someone in Singapore has a Taiwan model, and no such problem with CallerID/contact cards with phone numbers.
So I got to thinking, why not flash my Titan with the Taiwan ROM?
A nice guy called Football sent me the ROM...but because the Device ID is different you can't do a straightforwards Rom Update Utility flash...you have to use the "goldcard" method, which is pretty complicated. I made a frankenstein cable to achieve that and must have screwed up somewhere because it blew my screen out So my Titan is in for repair (yes, HTC Singapore will repair for S$50 handling charge under Global Warranty).
When I get it back I will try to flash the Taiwan ROM again. If it works, I will report back here.

Oh yeah, there are a few of us posting on Harwarezone SG website in the WP7 usergroup. Come say hello.
But XDA is much better for the techy stuff
Should also add: you can store both numbers +65 xxxx xxxx and just plain xxxx xxxx as a workaround...not practical if you have 1000s numbers of course. I edited key contacts in Outlook and added the xxxx xxxx as "assistant". It doesn't show up in WP contact cards, but it does work on incoming calls.
