You need to search....
BUT no...it's very doubtful, as windows 8 is directed at ARM processors

Tegra 3 is an ARM processor.

There is thread after thread of ppl *****ing and complaining about the same exact issues that have been known for weeks. Quit being douchebags and telling this guy to search before posting a question! Flame the ones that deserve it not this op.
That being said, I am very interested in this too, but I think we need to wait till Win 8 is out and about. It's only speculation at this point and apparently draws in the jerks to respond to your legitimate question. And btw Tegra 3 IS ARM. Maybe you should search before replying.

How is this thread necessary when there is another thread discussing windows 8 right here, so yes, searching before posting this question should have been done.
I'm sorry that I mis-posted, did it in a rush. What I meant to state was that it is very doubtful to have a full version of windows 8. It is not possible until microsoft releases an ARM version. From there, who knows what will happen. As all applications will have to be re-written. They might pull off something huge with windows 8, or on the tablet side it might flop. It may or may not work. But there's no way that we will know until later this year.

I'm normally not one to flame newbs but it HAS been explained ad nauseum and is easily found in ANY Desire HD rom thread within the first or second page. it doesn't even take a thorough search or drudging through a 50 plus page thread to find the answer to this question.

Please close - another thread that should not have been started wasting more bandwidth.
OP - Please take the time to search the forums first. Whilst XDA members are here to help it does get a bit frustrating when questions such as this are asked time and time again.

I really hate when a member who has alotta posts', always has something smart to say when a "newbie" asks a question. It's not necessary! While the post may be a waste of "space", the question is still relevant. Don't forget, "YOU" was once a newbie also!!! A simple answer could've ended this thread already. Many of us aren't as tech savvy as others, thats why forums like this was created. If it wasn't for "newbies" these forums wouldn't continue to exist. Show some respect to all, whether ur a "moderate" "senior member" or a "newbie". Thank you!
we had the same issue back in the G1 days when eclair was first ported. someone took the time to reverse engineer the camera driver to get it to work in eclair. either we get the source for it, or someone has to take good chunk of time to figure it out.

Just curious, is there some reason why a camera driver from another build won't work in the Desire HD ROM?
Ditto, I agree. Let's be accommodating and helpful.

Because its not a camera "App" issue. More of a driver issue.

What prevents the use of the camera driver from a working Android build? Is it not a ko module?
If it were that easy, dont you think darkstone would have just included in the first beta itself

No, people are not getting mad just because he asked a question. Its the fact that he did not do any research at all (Which is a huge rule on this site). The answer to this question has been answered in just about every Desire HD-2 thread. Also because this particular forum "HD2 Android Development" is not for Q&A. I've seen a thread about this exact question start like once a week, and it always gets moved.

Ubuntu's full desktop OS coming to multi-core Android devices

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/ubuntus-full-desktop-os-coming-to-multi-core-android-devices/
Not sure if this was posted or not. But if this comes out in the future with an unlocked bootloader is it likely we can install full ubuntu on our tablets?
I know you can install ubuntu now but it is slow, this is designed specifically for android phones/tabs.
A little late to the party buddy. Already a thread started on it. You should add this engadget to that thread. The other person had link to Ubuntu website talking about it.
Sorry about that, I'll need to find that thread

Ubuntu on DS5

Hi, is it possible do port ubuntu on our device?
Sorry for my english and thanks for answers.
Gesendet von meinem Dell Streak mit Tapatalk 2
Canonical's eventual objective is to have the Ubuntu mobile OS on many more devices than the Nexus line by Google. So, to answer your question, it should be possible to port Ubuntu mobile to the Streak, however it may be some time before we see it happen.
Oh, and your English is perfectly fine and understandable. In fact, it's a lot better than what you see from some native speakers!

If it needs cm10 to run it I doubt it'll happen lol
Not really. I believe the Streak can run Jellybean, but the core issue will always be drivers. Without them, nothing is going to happen.
I'd love to see that happen... Also be curios to see how it runs on a sort of dated phone... The Ubuntu Touch Message center is tasty looking! LoL! Wished we could find something like that for Android...

It needs CM10.1 to run and highly doubt that it will ever run on DS5.
@Op, Why have you posted a general topic in dev section? Don't spam this section, if anyone can , he will definately post here, you don't need to ask that it can happen or not. Someone please report this thread.

This makes no sense. You put out a call for someone to report the thread when you could do it yourself?
To the naysayers, the Streak can run ICS. If it isn't going to handle Jellybean, it will be both because of a lack of drivers as well as the possibility of the Streak's system partition being too small to accept Jellybean.
So, we need to find out the size of the system partition, by typing the following commands into a command prompt with the Streak connected to a PC:
adb shell
su
busybox df -h
If the system partition is less than approximately 350MB then Jellybean will not run on the Streak without modifications.

the system partition is 260m ,but it doesn't matter
i had made new partitions in innersd0 , and installed the 2nd os in the new partitions
the size of new partitions could be modified easily
Then that eliminates the minor issue, leaving drivers as the lone obstacle to getting Ubuntu on the Streak. This is the same obstacle that prevents us from getting ICS working properly on the Streak, and until there is some traction in an ICS port, Ubuntu is not going to happen.

You are really one of your kind!
Can't you understand that i was asking someone to do it because i was online through my phone and fyi you can report a thread through xda's app ..
If you want to continue this general discussion, open up a thread in general section and continue your talking there, this section is for development and not for general discussions . A guy spammed this section and you are supporting him. Reported!
I don't use the XDA app, but whether I do or not has no bearing on the ease of reporting a post. However I neither consider his post to be spam nor do I believe it inappropriate for this subforum. I suspect no one else in this thread, except you, cares one way or another.
Since you reported me, I don't have to tell you to go ahead and waste your energy, do I.
What I can't understand, is why this Question is in Development.
Com'on people, read the rules before you sign on.
Development is for "Works", like Roms, Kernels, Roots, Hacks and such. To post in the Dev section, you better be attaching something worthwhile One could say "Hey, I heard OX10 can be ported to...". If you don't have some code.... see the following....
Otherwise, it gets moved to Q & A or General...
Thread moved.
MD
A rhetorical question you ask. This is only speculation, but perhaps the OP thought to spur such development by asking the question. That's why I personally didn't have an issue with the OP posting the thread in development. But, my opinion on the appropriateness of the thread's location is irrelevant.

Why don't you understand that questions don't belong in development section?
There are several OS out there, so should we create a new thread for every OS asking " Can this OS be ported to DS 5 ?"
GENERAL discussion are not for development section!
There's a general section for that!
If someone gets something working on DS5, he/she will definately post it here(XDA), a question will not make that OS.
We all know that we hardly have a working ICS(4.0.4), so it's impossible to get ubuntu working on DS5 since its based on CM10.1 ( 4.2.2) , the bitter truth.
You are quite an experienced member and still you are supporting a spam thread instead of helping in cleaning the dev section. This is my last post on this thread and even after this if you don't understand then can't help with it.
BTW thanks Moscow desire!
Actually Ubuntu Touch is based off of Android 4.1.2
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Which still leads to the issue of drivers. Without drivers, any discussion of porting Ubuntu Touch is nothing more than wishful thinking. This device still doesn't have a properly working ICS port because there are no driver sources to be able to create proper drivers.
At this point, I'm bowing out of this discussion. I'm starting to repeat myself.

It was admittedly harsh and over-the-top... I guess it was just one not-thought-out post too many and I sorta snapped. It may be due to my volunteer work where I comb the blog comments on a popular site for SPAM. That has really exposed me to endless streams of inanity and lowered my tolerance. No excuse, just stating a possible cause of my outburst. I've also taken some time away from the internet, just returned in fact
To the OP. My apologies.
If you are looking for Ubuntu Touch on a Galaxy Tab 3, I don't know of anyone making a port attempt. Here is the list of devices trying out Ubuntu Touch: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices Note that most community efforts are not up to date and your device doesn't appear on the list. You could try the Tab 3 Forums and see if anyone is making a port.
If you are looking for Ubuntu Desktop on a Galaxy Tab 3, that is another type of project. Canonical no longer supports it, but it is still feasible to follow the instruction set. Look for various guides and how-tos by searching the internet for "Ubuntu on Android" or "Ubuntu for Android." There are several methods for you to choose from. Ignore Ubuntu for Devices and Ubuntu Touch results as those are for the mobile version.
If you are looking to mod a different device, I really have no clue what that is and you would need to post which device.

Sorry I should have been specific: The title of your post currently reads "Force NVidia and AMD to provide drivers for us.. ". So, although your petition on change.com is perfectly worded as courteous (and with good rationale), readers of the title of this thread may interpret your approach to NVidia as aggressive and get turned off, unless they actually follow the link to your actual petition. I am simply suggesting that you re-word the title.
PS
I did sign the petition and appreciate your initiative...
