I am running CM7 and in a debate as to whether or not to sell my EVO 4G with CM7 (so smooth) and get the EVO 3D, or stay with the EVO 4G. Let me know what you guys think.
UPDATE: I believe that I would be able to get roughly $300.00 for the EVO (condition is flawless with NO scratches etc.). ETF fee is going to be about $100.00. HTC EVO 3D $249.99(my guess at pricing). Therefore:
$300.00 - $100.00 - $249.99 = $49.99 (out of pocket)
It is definitely a plus knowing that the HTC EVO 3D is going to be supported by CM. CM might not be for everyone, but it is definitely for me, and the other 100,000 people that downloaded CM7 RC1 in the first 24 hours it was put up.
I am actually using this poll to show my wife why I should get this phone. All input is greatly appreciated and used. Thanks!
P.S. Wife will not impact whether or not I get this phone. This will just help prevent those late night, ahem - conversations about what my money is spent on.

exactly how do they "cripple" phones? I've been using CM since CM6 for Evo came out and have been extremely happy with it.
Also why do we have to chose between CM7 and the 3D? Are we assuming CM won't make a version for the 3D?
You know cm will have a Rom for the 3d as soon as the phone is in stores, i know mag with his destroyer Rom is already looking forward to building his 3d Rom. My question for you is why sell your Evo? It's still going to be useable when you get the 3d

Here is the deal. CM7 (RC3) is so smooth! If I switch, I am sure that the camera and several other features wont be working right away, and maybe not for a while. CM7 has everything working on EVO 4G and it is the best ROM, IMHO. So, just looking for opinions on whether to stay or grab the EVO 3D.

Because I am no longer a SP customer. The only way that I will be able to get the discount on the phone is to pay the ETF ($100), then re-sign a new 2 yr contract with the EVO 3D. If I sell the EVO 4G it should offset the cost.

Evo3D With CM7
....... Now thats hot
The system dump for the 3d should be out before the phone, and I'm reading that the programing is almost the same as the Evo, I'm not thinking that it's going to take every long for them to get a fully working 3d, if your unsure about cm having everything working i would just sit back for another month and wait for the system dump. And we should see a working Rom soon after.

I think cm7 is more stable than stock, using sz 1.0.1 bfs gps works fine, no fc, no random reboots, no slowdowns. the scrolling is smooth, the display doesn't jitter or lag. its great

CM7 RC3 may be more smooth than CM7 RC2, but I was having massive issues with either version.
RC2, 4G super crawl speed. 250kbps, vs Calkulin 1.8 880kbps, GPS didn't work without doing the fix.
RC3, 4G crawl speed, 250kbps, vs Calkulin 1.8, 880kbps, cellular signal and 3G flipping from zero bars to full bars multiple times within a matter of a few seconds non stop.
RC2 and RC3 causing my battery to run massively hot when charging or using wireless tether. wired tether as well.
CM7 was a great refresh for the EVO, but isn't as polished to make it a daily use rom for me.

Stock doesn't even have a fully working bluetooth stack. Try using a wiimote with *any* sense rom, watch what happens.
And further, with stock, you can't even hdmi mirror at full speed, you have to modify the kernel (either that or mirror at slow speed.) Furthermore, trying to mirror with a stock rom, or any sense rom, is finicky due to software conflicts.
There are also a number of apps out there that don't work with a stock evo setup, and specifically mention they aren't compatible with evo. However if you use an AOSP rom they work fine.
How much you want for your Evo?

Hopefully CM7 will be ported quickly. MIUI would be nice too. I've never been a fan of sense.
Cm is overhyped imo. In a vs fight, sliced bread would still win. I would go with 3d.
so it's been a few months since the last thread regarding how the atrix is.
I currently have a Inspire 4G and I'm debating on getting the Atrix.

The answer to your question is entirely subjective.
Was it ever bad? Debuted a super phone?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
It was good when it was locked, now that it is unlocked it is turning into a behemoth. Just wait until you see a polished CM7 rom on this thing.
it was never bad, otherwise this forum would be desolate.
If you are willing to unlock and flash custom ROM, its a beast.
If you have to live with the stock firmware, there's probably better options out there, unless you really hate 4.3 form factor.
put it to you this way the locked bootloader was why alot of people didnt care for it but the bootloader can be unlocked now and the custom rom train is going to pick up steam, as some one else said cm7 for one thing
It's better than the Inspire that I owned.
Don't listen to what they say in the Inspire forums. The Inspire isn't the best AT&T has and the Atrix is a lot better than what people think. It's a very nice phone.
Not trying to put the Inspire down at all--I just know because I've owned both of them. The Atrix beats it and the Nexus S that I have...

Honestly, it was never bad. As a stock device that was incapable of installing kernels, it was good. I still found myself using my Captivate while the bootloader was locked. Now that there's ROMs and kernels available, I haven't touched my Cappy at all.
wow! I wasn't expecting that many responses so fast!
I want to root the phone, play ff7 (of course) and ENJOY the phone.
I put a custom rom on my inspire so I don't see why I wouldn't put a custom rom on the atrix...
Trying to get the inspire back to "out of the box" state so I can return it.
The only issue I have with the inspire is running fpse and ff7. little laggy at times. hoping the dual core will remedy the issue.
hell, it's the same price and you get more internal memory, hdmi cable, and a better CPU..

I am not even gonna lie, I have played modern warfare 2 on xboxlive while tethering my xbox to my touch pro 2 a while back and shockingly it actually played fairly well considering the type of connection I was running.
What do you think will be some of the first "game changer" MODs/ROMs/kernel tweaks we'll see? Be creative.
I don't need much and I'd be totally happy with this phone..a real fix for multitasking..and the WiFi issues..I can't even download a rom to my phone without it failing if the screen goes off..driving me nuts..also someone mentioned a aosp rom with sense widgets and camera UI..that would be sick ..when does source typically get released? I know Sammy has been good about that lately
What is this WiFi issues everyone is talking about? I've downloaded roms on WiFi with screen off just fine, but I just can't wait for the kernels to come out... HTC is very unpredictable when it comes to releasing source. It took the EVO shift 3 months to get and sometimes it takes s couple of weeks. You just never know

I just want AOSP. Getting rid of Sense will be the best game changer yet.
Wifi fix would be nice. It just randomly loses connection for me. I'll just be sitting here surfing the Web and it will lose all data, connect briefly to 3g, then wifi kicks back on. All in about a 5-10 second cycle.
Fixing the focus on the camera app would be good too. I know there are some work arounds but I like everything to just be built in to the rom I pick.

According to GPL, source has to be released within 90 days of release (at least I think that's correct, anybody please correct me if I'm wrong.). I'd love to see Gummy, AOKP, CM9, MIUI and a Sense ROM similar to what mikeyxda did with the EVO 3D. I'd also like to see some overclocking and undervolting. Also some better video compression out of the camera. Just a wish list though. I wish I could help out. I may start digging in Smali and Java just to see what I can figure out.
It seems to do it on other routers too. Not just my home one. But it could go days without me noticing it happening, and then have it pop up again.
It's like it gets the hiccups.

Multitasking on this phone is pretty awful and really needs to be fixed.
Well everyone, I decided to pick up the "Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE" with its long name. I didn't even bother using the Stock rom longer than 5 minutes before I had AOKP on it. Here are my first impressions.
The build quality is great. My main gripe about Samsungs phones, is that they all feel cheap. The LTEVO feels great in hand, with its weight and materials. I really like the aluminum band around the device as well.
The camera is second to none out of all of the camera phones I've used to date.
The screen is insanely good. I cannot get over how clear things are, and it might be just me but I swear the surface feels more slick than most displays out today.
Over all battery life has been impressive as well, but that could very well be due to the extensive tweaks I've enabled on my current rom, Pacman rom.
Now, my only issue with this phone is the sound output level. It is so low, that I literally cannot hear it at max volume if I'm sitting on it. I've tried everything possible from CDMA workshop, to QPST to Volume +. Nothing has worked thus far. Is this a common issue or should I try to return it to Amazon for a replacement, or go through sprints TEP (I pay the 11.00 one) and get a refurbished one?
How are you managing to sit on it and not bend it?

As for volume, yes, it is very low. But, if you're using AOKP from tmartin build 3 or 4, you can use the volume fix zips that are in his thread, and I think they're in B-reezys code name android OP. There's a 68 a 70 and a 72. I used the 70, worked well. I Dont know if they work with the more recent builds, the bases and kernels have changed a lot since they were made.
Good luck.
