Thanks for any input
Can you get into Download Mode?
Were you running a lag-fix?

i was running vodoo lag fix..no i cant get into download mode, only recovery mode
in recovery mode it says error, cannot find update.zip file.
Did you happen to dis-able the Voodoo lag-fix before flashing the stock ROM?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
no i did not, and now i do not know anything i can do..
That's a tough one, the maker of Bionix said you would greatly regret not disabling vodoo before flashing.. voodoo sounded like something I don't ever want to mess with for that reason alone, so I never will. sry I can't help, maybe download mode on odin and load fresh factory rom
im in download mode on the device and i have odin opened, how do i flash the stock rom now? also how do i get odin to find my device? thanks

To get odin to find your device in download mode you simply need the proper drivers installed. Be sure to plug in the device in download mode and let Windows detect the download interface properly before you run Odin. I'd also strongly advise you use Odin3 v1.3 (found in Dev section...also a link to this in the Vibrant Bible post) instead of Odin3 v1.0.
In the Bionix 1.3 thread, instructions for dealing with the "oops I forgot to deal with disabling Voodoo" screw up are in the first post, right after "Did You Flash Something Before Disabling Voodoo? Then This Fix is For You." It's a bit involved, but I've made this mistake myself last week (I misspelled the disable-lagfix of all things), and the method worked as advertised.
Best of luck!
learning how to use odin was a bit of a challenge, there's a really good youtube video.. this is the link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ -copy and paste in browser this guides you on how to get back to stock on odin, which is a great place to start fresh.. make sure you have the samsung drivers installed on your computer, helps computer recognize our android
SUPER IMPORTANT!! open odin 1st as administrator, then whith phone (off) hold both up and down volume keys and plug in usb while holding them
thanks everyone for the tips, i got back to the stock rom now. and even got a lesson in using odin to flash in the future
i tried to install a different unlock screen and my phone had a ton of force close i was able to get into download mode and odin open, it reads the phone but it gets stuck at setup connection for ever any ideas on how to bypass that so i can revert to stock
So I tried to use odin to root my device. I was following a guide on youtube but XDA won't let me post it. I got to where I run odin while my phone is in download mode. Everything goes according to the video, however, when the phone reboots it freezes at the Samsung splash screen with the yellow ! at the bottom. I've tried putting the phone back in download mode and running it through Odin again but the problem is not fixed. Does anyone know how I would go about fixing this?
Try restocking. If you repartitioned you may be in trouble. Go to cm7 website and follow their instructions.

I made sure the repartition option wasn't selected before I ran odin in both cases. I'm assuming by CM7 you mean cyanogenmod? Sorry for the ignorance, I just want to make sure I'm doing what I need to to get it back in working condition
Dont know why should you go to cm7 website.
Follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
use an appropriate kernel for your phone.
Or get a stock kernel and use odin to flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

I've got no idea what boxhead72 is going on about, but anyway, to be able to help you, we need to know what you've done. Generally, you need to make sure you're flashing a correct ROM/kernel/modem for your device. You also might need to reset to factory settings. But without knowing what you've done, it's impossible to say.
You can find stock ROMs and a guide for I9100 (if that is your phone's model) in Intratech's thread here: [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download.
On the plus side, if you can get to the boot screen, you are far better off than those who get NOTHING. I know it doesn't make you feel that good right now, but if you can get this far, your chances of recovery (if you follow instructions) are near 100%.
If you told us that you get no response at all from the phone when the power button was pressed, you might have room to worry a bit.
Now, not so much. Just take a minute to breathe and read through your steps as outlined in the above mentioned threads. You'll be fine in all likelihood.
Okay, I did some more searching and realized I was on the completely wrong forum... I have the AT&T U.S. I777 Galaxy S2. So exactly what I did was install kies, close out of it, put my phone into download mode, connect it to my computer, install what I assume was an incorrect .tar file using Odin while it was in download mode, let it reboot and am now seeing it hang at the boots screen with the yellow exclamation mark. I wouldn't mind reformatting it if someone could show me how, but I mainly want to use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285894
to root it and install CM7. Could I just run odin again and install the .tar file given in these instructions? Or does it not quite work like that? Thanks for all the help you guys are giving by the way!

I don't know anything about that phone, but a quick look in those forums shows:
[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCKH7 Return/Unbrick to Stock (or Root)
and
[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) :: V7.1.0 RC1 (9 Oct 2011)
Thanks for those, I was actually reading through them when I noticed you posted them. I have another problem now though, I ran the stock rom through odin in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
but it failed in Odin and upon reboot it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. I didn't know kies had a recovery mode, but when I connect my phone it always fails to connect. Note that I CAN still get into the download menu, but that's it. At this point is there anything else I can do?

I presume Kies recovery mode is in Kies -> Tools -> Emergency firmware recovery.
I noticed that as well but like I said I cannot connect to Kies so any recovery mode isn't very helpful

I guess if you've done everything on [Guide] How to Prepare Your Phone to Return to the Store or for Warranty Replacement (which is linked at the bottom of the thread I linked earlier), then your next port of call should be Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware.
Hi guys,
I'm very new here and also a noob when it comes to rooting and flashing custom ROMS. I was following the instructions of Archidroid in installing his CustomROm Archidroid. The instructions are easy to understand and very helpful. I was able to download his ROM and put it to my externalSDcard as recommended. I downloaded the lates Odin and Philztouchrecovery as instructed and put it on the PDA field. Then I was successful in putting my phone to download mode. Now here's the problem after I replugged my phone to my computer, nothing happened! "<ID:0/003> Added!!". >>This message did not appear on the message box of Odin. The last message from Odin is leave CS mode. What am I doing wrong?? My phone is the Galaxy S3-GT-I9300. And it hasn't been rooted yet. If there's already a thread about this please let me know so I can get to it, I tried searching but I can't find the answers that I need here. Please help!

Have tried all three USB ports in my laptop but still the same and yes, I am in download mode. One thing I can add and I don't know if it has anything to do with it is, on the top left the custom binary is a NO. I'm really new at this. One more question if my phone is being recognized by laptop when I plug it in like it appears as a portable device on My Computer it means that the USB drivers are installed and correct, right?

custom binary has nothing to do here buddy. first you need to root the phone using CF-ROOT method. and flash the philz recovery.zip from CWM recovery that comes after flashing with CF-ROOT. later you will be able to flash any custom rom through philz recovery.
step1: open odin
step2: put phone in download mode(volume down+home+power)
step3: connect phone via usb
step4: odin recognizes the phone
step5: cf-root and the following methods stated at the beginning

yes you need to. also try restarting your laptop.
Sounds more like no drivers installed. Try installing kies to get the drivers and then ensure it's not running in the background. That should solve your problem.

Hi there, everyone.
I had the Kit Kat 4.4.2 OMNI ROM the version that had problems with loop boot.
I tried installed 09-02 Gustavo_s kernel followed from this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50297932
And Im still having problem.
Installed the 20110310 pit-file and still get FAILED in Odin.
Installed an official ROM and still get FAILED in Odin.
I tried with 1.5.33 drivers version and returned to 1.5.27, still having problems.
Tried with Odin 3.09, 3.07, 3.04 and having FAILED problems, except for 1.87 that I have "stuck" problems.
It keeps doing without finishing it, maybe it is in a loop...
What can you do or am I doing it wrong?
p.s.: it has a bootlop in TWRP and LOGO and enters in Download Mode
Please, a little help.
Thanks in adv
Same as everyone else who has problems with an Odin flash; Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' guide stickied in the General section, try all the stuff in that thread as many times as you need to in order to get a successful flash.

install a kernel with cwm then perform a FULL WIPE then try flashing stock use another odin...or try to restore any nand backup
My steps to fix this issue would be
1. Try with different USB ports.
2. Uninstall the Samsung driver and connect while device is in download mode. Let the drivers install themselves (on Windows 7 and above)
3. Try with a different PC.
I had the same issue. Used Odin v1.85.
When it did not work, I uninstalled the driver and let it install on its own.
When I tried again, this time the Odin flashed successfully and I could boot my phone.
PS: The newer builds of OmniRom have this bootloop issue fixed.
And your steps are covered in Hopper's stickied thread. The whole point of having such a comprehensive thread that covers every possible situation stickied is so everyone doesn't have to regurgitate the same crap over & over for n00bs who are unable to manage something as basic as searching for info that's been covered countless times here before, let alone fix their busted phones.

I know about OmniRom new releases, but this ****ed it up.
I already had USB-Flex problems, bought the new Flex and changed it by my own.
The USB now is fully working, the problem is the Flash that I cant make.
By the way, it is a good point to uninstall the driver and let Windows decide.
Well, just uninstall or do anything more?

Search and read is easy, fix is hard. Someone already said a phrase like this one.
Many people had the problem I have, but it is not about the SAME problem, exactly one.
If you are mad, mate, dont be.
I tried 4 differente USB cables (2 genuines), 6 different USB ports, 3 different kernels, 2 different ROMS, 1 3-part ROM and 1.3, 1.4, 1.83, 1.84, 1.85, 1.87, 3.04, 3.05, 3.06, 3.07 and 3.09 ODIN versions and Im still having the problem.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I tested 1.4.103, 1.5.27.0 and 1.5.33.0 version of USB Drivers too
This not only about a "n00b asking for help with basic searching in the forum".
Please.

Just uninstall the existing drivers and don't install any driver.
Put the device in download mode and then connect to the PC. It will auto install any required drivers.
After the device boots up, the PC will again install the necessary drivers, if required.

You shouldn't have used previous versions of Odin to flash latest roms/kernels. That bricks the phone.
Is your phone still in warranty period? Maybe you can get it replaced before they could figure out that you flashed custom kernel.
UPDATE: After being able to download the official firmware online (took me a while cuz internet is hella slow), I was able to restore the phone to stock state using Odin, and is clean now.
Download mode seemed to be still reachable, I just didnt know how to go to it. I somehow didnt face any problem with a binary count of one? How could the binary count even affect the restore to stock?
Thank you to all who replied to help, especially audit13 for sending me the rom directly through GDrive, and to shivadow and A$teroid.
Here's the [most idiotic] thing that I did. I installed an official TWRP image using the official TWRP app, nothing else with it. Next, I rebooted the phone. I ended up after that with the phone stuck at download mode which says (just in case you don't know what I mean) :
"Downloading. Do not turn off target!!"
I currently have no backup (please don't shout at me for not doing that. I know I'm an idiot but I'm seeking help! :s ), was running CWM recovery beforehand, CyanogenMod 11 was installed, and now I run to that download mode which I don't know how to pass through. Every boot method sends me directly to the download mode screen, which I think means there's no recovery mode on my phone now (at least a functioning one). I tried connecting it to my PC and the device starts up by itself. The PC identifies it as a "modem" called "Gadget Serial".
So I'm almost positive that I just bricked my phone in a weird way. Is there ANY way to fix it?
Flash stock service ROM from PC via Odin, then flash CWM/TWRP, your CM11, etc...

Looks like emergency download mode. Stock via Odin is safest way to restore phone factory state.
Recovery contains in stock image.
Plug the device into a pc and when it shows as modem find it in system manager and uninstall the drivers it's using.
Either install kies and then uninstall it keeping the drivers or install the drivers manually then plug the device in while in download mode.
Run odin, click pda, find your stock rom that matches your phone exactly and click OK.
Make sure "erase nand" is NOT CHECKED and click start.
Sit back and let it do its thing.
When it reboots it will likely stick on the samsung logo, boot to recovery and wipe data and cache. Reboot and it should start normally.
ALL data will be lost but you cannot do anything about it anyway.
My preferred method of flashing is to flash once, wipe data and cache, flash again. That way, any remnants of old roms will be lost and it will be as factory as it can be.

The phone appearing on COM5 should not be a problem.
PDA appears in Odin such as 3.07 which can be downloaded from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421
Com5 is fine. So long as it has a com port it doesn't matter what number.
PDA is also AP in other versions of odin.

So I'm almost positive that I just bricked my phone in a weird way. Is there ANY way to fix it?
Here are a several lines blaming myself for being an absolute dumb**** :
I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me! I'm stupid! Someone kill me!
I'm a DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****! DUMB****!
KILL! ME!

This happened to me a few days ago, thanks for using the TWRP app I downloaded the latest version and flashed using the app... it didn't work since when I rebooted my phone, it got stuck on Download mode forever... the solution for that is to download the TWRP latest version using your PC and flashed it on your device using ODIN. I didn't find any other way to get my phone out of Download mode. Good Luck

Thank you, I had the exact same problem today after using the TWRP app. I used this guide for flashing TWRP with Odin: https://www.lineageosroms.org/forums/topic/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-android-using-odin/
All the data including the OS was still intact, I just had to properly flash TWRP and everything was back to normal.
Just in case anyone ever stumbles upon this and - like me - doesn't know how to use Odin (I rooted my S3 almost 6 years ago which was the last time I used Odin).
This thread is dead, but I did the same thing and now my phone is stuck in Download mode AND it doesn't even get detected on Windows. Like, nothing new in the device manager. I tried downloading and installing official Samsung drivers but no dice. Damn.
