Hi Guys,
I got the prime a couple days ago and noticed that there is a single pin that looks to be pushed back from the edge of the connector. Looking at the back of the tablet, it's the second pin from the right.
It's probably not making contact with the 40 pin cable... I have only plugged this tablet in a handful of times.
Pete

Here's the image of the connector...
I checked mine and as far as I can tell I dont have one pin down like that.
Do you have any problems charging or connecting to your pc?
The tablet charges and connects. I don't know what functionality the pin provides. It could just be a duplicate GND or PWR pin, which will reduce the reliability over time as I'm sure they've allocated pins for the maximum charging current. Over time the other pins will increase in contact resistance and start heating up above the designed limit.... It's one of a few issues I'm having, so it will be going back to the store. Thanks for checking the connector, I wasn't able to find a high quality picture to verify.
Pete
Yah fair enough, not worth taking a chance.
Good catch really. How did you even come to be looking at the connector so closely to begin with if you didn't have any connection problems. Lol I had to look pretty dang closely even knowing what to look for to check if mine was the same.
Electrical Engineering has given me the passion of electronics. I'm thorough in my 'first article inspections'.
Essentially I'm interested in the choices others make during design. I returned the tablet and will wait for similar product in the marketplace or a future batch of primes. Until then it's back to the laptop; CES2012 should provide some insight.
Good luck then! It definitely looks like you are going to have a lot of cool choices from all the talk from CES
Mine are all in a row, although in a slightly staggered/raised pattern, sort of like ---> .,.,.,.,
Went to plug mine in to charge tonight and nothing happened. I looked at the pins and they are all bent to hell. Can't connect at all now. Once or twice I will get it to plug in and the screen will turn on, but not charge.
Super pissed as I am traveling tomorrow and was psyched to have this with me.
As I write I am trying to straighten the pins with a safety pin. I touched something wrong as it vibrated and reboot.
GOD DAMN IT!
Any suggestions here?

Edit:
So toast. There are broken pins in there and everything. WTF? I just uploaded a bunch of music on there last night for the trip tomorrow. I come home to charge and...total crap.
It's too late for Best Buy to take it back, I think I will have to use my credit card protection (Amex) to return this. Even if I sent it in to Asus for repair under warranty, this happened in, what, 3 weeks of light use?
So disappointed.
any updates on what happened with your prime...it appears i'm in the same boat with the bent/broken connector pins...just got my RMA and scared after reading all the stories on here but looks like i have no other choice
I just noticed my connected is a little broken, half the plastic piece is missing. i don't know if it came like that or i broke it. i've been careful with it so who knows. only had it about 3 weeks. it still functions properly, charges/syncs/connects to dock. i'm aprehensive about sending it int o get fixed.

The speaker on my Razr is no longer working, it had been intermittent for a while (working for a day, then not working for a few) but it hasn't worked at all this week. Occasionally a hard reboot (power button plus volume down) will make it start working again but its also been a while since that has worked.
I've already exchanged one Razr for a speaker not working and Amazon won't exchange the phone again for the same issue. Instead they want to offer me credit towards a different phone. Since I got the Razr during the penny sale, that doesn't help me much.
Has anyone seen or heard of this issue before and are there any fixes? Do you know if its a software or a hardware problem? I love the phone, its just very frustrating that the speaker doesn't work.
I may have the same problem..
Is it only the back speaker which is down ?
Sorry but so far my only (and no-efficient) solution was hard reboot
Yeah, its the rear speaker. Hard booting sometimes works but not always. Seems more like a hardware issue because I can tap the speaker when it stops working and it will sometimes start working again.
Having the same issue, the main speaker sometimes gets turned off (especially when micro usb is inserted, and then pulled out).
What usually helps is to gently press on the silver MOTOROLA logo on the top of the phone (in the middle of the logo).
So looks like when inserting/ pulling out micro usb cable, somehow something gets moved inside, so the contacts are shifted, which is screwing the speaker)????
Looks like will go back to the store :-( if this continues.
The ringtone speaker is glued to the backplane of the phone.
It's connected via two spring loaded connectors. (Dumb solution imo)
I believe some electrical contact cleaner could solve the problem.
Must be one WITHOUT oil! The oil might enter the lens.

My suggestion for a fix is this:
Step 1:
Remove plastic backing on the camera. Carefully!
You don't need to remove the entire kevlar backing.
(As you can see the backplate was made very ugly by the ifixit crew)
Step 2:
Hold the phone like the picture, and apply a miniscule amount of contact cleaner here, the idea is to make the cleaning solution hit the two springs and contact pads.
Step 3:
Tap and press the area around the speaker carefully, the idea being to rub the connectors slightly while wet.
Let it dry and keep it lying in this direction, you don't want this stuff in the camera!
All images taken from ifixit.
I take no responsibility for any damage, this would be a last resort type of fix if you can't get a warranty claim for it. This obviously voids your warranty completely too.
Yesterday I flashed aokp to my prime, everything went well. Long story short, I remember dropping it, barely bumped the carpet, and it was inside a leather case.
Got home and pulled it out....The screen was just black, however I could hear that it was on, and took a screen shot hearing the camera sound.
I've tried
Holding the power till vibrate....nada
Holding power for 30 sec..... Nada
My pc saw the internal drive, and micro sd as if it were on, and functioning properly, but screen still black.
So I got a paperclip and pressed the reset for about a min, so now it's in the same state as when I flashed CWM for the first time.
Any helpful ideas would be much appreciated!!!!
I'm willing to take it apart if I have to.

Sounds to me like your lcd ribbon cable got disconnected. If there are no signs of a drop, scratches, dents, etc , I think ASUS will fix it.
DIY= Follow one of the TF201 teardown threads and snap the connector back in yourself.
I would go for the 2nd option myself...too many ASUS RMA horror stories.
Plus I would probably experiment with tweaking the wifi/ gps antenna

Just opened it up, and was amazed to see (despite the tape supposedly holding the ribbon in place) it was completely dislodged.

yes it did, and it was so easy.
After watching the techrepublic video of a complete Prime breakdown component by component, I have great confidence in taking apart my Prime to mod the wifi.....if I can just find some thick copper tape somewhere

I felt I needed to share what problems I had with a seller on ebay.
I purchased a second hand CAT B15 "mint condition". When i received the phone it come in a un-formatted state with all the previous contacts and messages and even email still intact.
I browsed through a few messages out of curiosity, common who wouldn't?. It was interesting at the time because the message indicated that he was pissed off with his new phone and wanted his kids to look at it, I also felt sorry for him because his phone was full of those late night TV porn text numbers you text for porn and pay £3 over and over and get ripped off. who does that? anyway I felt pity and just formatted everything.
later that day I went to put a new sim in there, and there was a micro SIM adapter in the slot. i tried to remove carefully but it was stuck. I didn't force it as I could see what the problem was. The microSIM adapter has a opening in it, as im sure all of you know, once you put it in without a sim in it, its stuck in there and traps the pins.
I used a cut up beer can and some pins to carefully remove it from the phone, happy I did not force or break any of the pins.
When I tried to install my sim, I discovered the pins had been badly twisted and bent. FROM the person who sold it on Ebay not by me.
I tried to call him out on his bull**** but he played it cool and just pretended he put it back in for the next person. I guess he was hoping the new person would make the same mistake as him and think they damaged it when trying to remove it.
I looked at his previous listings and he had bad feedback for selling a fake watch for 1900 pounds.
Anyway. I launched a dispute and Ebay ultimately sided with him based on the fact that I removed the microSIM and was therefor not in the same condition in which is was sent. Their logic does not go as far to think that I had to remove it to discover that he had damaged it in the first place. Jacky Bush at ebay was the person who sided with him on this.
Moral of the story, If you put a phone on ebay that you damaged yourself and leave the micoSIM adapter inside it, you can claim it was them and ebay will agree with you..
Determined not to let him win. I opened up the phone and managed to repair it. Heres the pictures.

Help with back screws
Sorry for reopening this threat but you the only person i found who opened a B15.
I just want to ask if you had any problems with the back cover screws.
I sent my phone for repair and when they returned it the plastic for the screws was broken
Is this something like tamper protection for warranty ?
You can grab one here
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TDHEFNY?utm_source=amazon&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=charger
I am reviewing the following device in return for the usage and review of the said item here in XDA. I am not employed or affiliated with them, they were kind enough to seek my opinion on this product.
While not an accessory specific to Nexus 6, I figured I'd add this here because the N6 does have Quick Charging and wanted to let people know my experience with the item.
And honestly, I was looking for one of these desktop chargers for home. I previously bought one when I go on trips to power my various devices, but was looking to upgrade due to me and my wife's phone now equipped with Quick Charge 2.0.
Upon receiving it, The packaging was really nice. Minimal and not too much. Just enough to protect the contents and not hard to unpack at all. Inside housed the desktop charger, the plug, instructions, and other literature as seen in the pics.
The look is a nice textured matte finish and you can grip it pretty well. It has a good weight to it so it won't fly off your desk if you push papers towards it. You can orient it any way you would like to use it, but my preference for this charger is flat with the print facing up. I found that this way, it won't flop over, even though it has some heft to it, you can accidentally knock it over.
There is a power LED when you plug it into the wall. Not bright, just a nice dim blue led to let you know it's on. IMO a nice touch. Next I plugged in both mine and my wife's phone. (Nexus 6 and HTC M8 respectively). And both charged up pretty quickly! I then tested out the remaining three ports (the non-quick charge ones) and all worked as it should. Also I have to note that all the USB ports were easy to plug in and remove with different usb cords.
So is there really any negatives here? Not that I can see. This is a great product for the price listed on Amazon (17 USD prior to shipping if not a prime member).
Maybe offer different colors? With different color LEDs? Just throwing some quick things off the top of my head. But otherwise it's a great product to use.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Because multiple devices that have Quick Charge, we needed this for the times we need to quickly charge up before heading out to of the house and not really worry about carrying external batteries.
Any questions feel free to ask! Pics

If it doesn't come with those sweet Dunkin' Donuts coupons, no deal....
Did anyone had an issue with the battery getting swollen on this phone? If so, could you tell me if it looked similar to this?
I don't know if it just got kinda bent and the screen popped out a bit or if the bulging battery is pushing it out.

The first two photos show how the metal casing got separated from the black plastic rim and the grey plastic tip on the back, it only happened on the bottom right side, looking at the screen.
The other two show how how the layer of glass is bulging from the black plastic frame, it only happens on the right side around the middle of the phone. It's soft and springy to touch, i can push it back down but it pops right back up.
Have you opened it up? Sounds like a mount inside broke, and can't hold the edge down. Or, it could just be misaligned inside. The last case, that I could think of, is a damaged battery. Check the way it's charging, and if it smells funny.
Thank you very much for your response!

I didn't, i thought about it tho, it's not like i have anything to loose. I'll try to open it up and take some more photos if i manage to not break it. ?

I hope that's not the case, the phone served me well for all those years, and even if i get a new one it'd be great to have a backup device and not just scrap the thing.
I don't know what to look for when charging and as soon as i started to suspect the battery might be getting a touch explosive i stopped charging/using it. I might try it if you tell me what to look for.
The phone does smell a bit off, it has that weird electronic smell but then again it is an electronic device sooo that might be just normal, i don't know i never smelled it before. The smell seems to be stronger next to the opened case, but if it's just a normal smell of the device inside it would also have that smell there since it's more open on that side.

The smell test is to see if the battery's damaged, or swelling(maybe that's why the case won't close on that side). It's old, and that day will come when the battery needs replaced, mine's still hanging in there.
