Hi,
If I want CM7 on my phone, can I do that via the CWM app? I know I have to be rooted then. If yes, I first have to download and install CWM and then search for CM7 in the app, right?

All the information you need is located in the CM7 Q&A thread and the CM7 wiki.
As oinkylicious you should find everything that you need.
On a sidenote, I am not a fan of using CWM app for flashing. My advice would be to do it manually.

So I'm really new to custom ROMs and recoveries, and I have a few questions. I already flashed ClockworkMod, but if I want to get rid of it, is deleting the update.zip all I have to do? And if I were to make a backup and then flash a custom ROM, but decided to go back to my recovery, it would be exactly like it was before flashing the custom ROM, correct? I think that's about it, thanks for taking the time to read and answer.
First flash the correct kernel (2.1 or 2.2 ) of the one used for your backup. Then restore. Then delete update.zip
After that it will be how you had it

I think in this case doing you would also need to reset the phone and do a cache wipe as well then reboot and it would see as stock
So how would I get my hands on the stock kernel and flash it?

On the Vibrant Bible thread. Scroll down to Kernals.

Yeah that wouldn't hurt.

So I haven't had access to a computer the past few days, but how would I flash the stock kernel from the Bible thread? Is it just in an update.zip?

Hi there, I just started flashing a couple months ago and all is great. When I first started flashing I used cwm to flash a ROM. I would clear data then clear cache then afterwards flash the ROM and would work flawlessly.
Now as I try to do that (trying to flash a brand new ROM), Everytime I try to cleardata or cache on cwm my phone would freeze there, therefore I couldn't properly set up my phone for a new ROM.
Any ideas or solution I can do to fix this? Greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Yerp use odin to redo your cwm, not flash another cwm.., this may fix your current issues with cwm,
what cwm do you have on there?
Like I posted I use below CWM:

Would I lose my ROM backups if I redo my cwm?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
You will not lose anything. Unless you fubar the phone some how.
Yea I had the same issue about a month ago. The only thing that worked for me was using Odin to put me back to stock gingerbread, re flash cwm and root. Since then I've been able to flash and it fixed the cache hang up in cwm.

Ah that's why. Please read the rolled up sticky thread in this forum on how to safely root your phone. Then you can start loading custom ROM's on to it. DON'T rush take your time, read carefully and follow the instructions exactly. There are lots of benefits to being careful and patient and expensive mistakes if you rush into this. All the best and happy flashing.

If you're referring about the dual booting go to this thread -> Siyah Kernel Discussion Thread
i suggest you wait for the stable version, as the v1.7 is still on beta

http://rootgalaxys3iii.com/galaxy-s3-siyahkernel-s3-kernel/
Hope this help you, helped me.

Actually I think it's on RC1 for some time. I had this kernel for a week or so and it was very good.
I believe they have sorted most of the bugs.
If you want double boot, this is the way to go.
I have it and its pretty awesome.
Runs very good.
By the way I learned it installing by searching and reading

I found the easiest way was to use Mobile Odin. :good:
Stop answering the noob guy's gone.
Flash Siyah again. Use STweaks. Launch dual boot utilities. Format second ROM. Wipe caché and data. Wipe flash. Flash zip into second ROM. Wipe caché and data. Wipe dalvik. Fix permissions. Reboot..
Edit: Noob guy is gone..

Hi,
My daughter has the HP touchpad, I've already loaded CM7 using moboot method so she keeps webos. I can see now that many stable versions of CM9 exist and want to upgrade to one of the many ROMs available. Can I do this straight from clockwork mod or do I need to flash additional zip files in order for it to work properly. I have searched lots of forums and some are suggesting to use acme installer 2 but I have titanium backup so cannot see the point in this method. Any help is much appreciated.

Err what's the question .
Q:can I upgrade to CM9 from CM7 through clockwork recovery?
A:don't remember where I saw it but I do remember that it could not flash properly and result in bugs....
So its best to do a clean install using ur PC and following this

Look for a video from reverend kyle on youtube, its a pretty good explanation and tells you the files you need. The CM9 build will be outdated in the video so just use the latest gapps and CM9 build. Everything else will be the same. Basically you'll need to use you computer and ACMEInstaller2. If you ever want to install CM10 you'll want to use ACMEInstaller3.
Many thanks for the responses, I will see how I get on.

Might want to consider what was posted above, skip cm9, use acme uninstaller to start clean, then acmeinstaller3 and put one of the jellybean builds on.
JB takes up more system space, which acmeinstaller3 provides
