the search doesn't always help you find what you need if you don't have a clear idea what you need. I've tried using search a few times and I've either come up with too many hits or nothing that seems to fit my needs...
but in the time it took you to write that answer you could have just answered his question (if you knew the answer), helped a fellow acer out and made his day a little nicer...
Right or wrong, asked once or a million times people should be able to ask something in general section and get an answer. You dont have to personally answer each question but if we all just answered one it would help everyone
Have a look at this in Android market mate.
"Message Notification Lite"
Also this one works great on a galaxy but you have to set it to vibrate or flash etc.
"missed message flasher"
best one is called "NoLED" free in market

Hi,
Ive owned a Galaxy S since launch and am pretty good with roms, firmwares, rooting, kernels etc.
But recently received my Galaxy S2. How does one go about rooting this phone? Any current methods... had a quick look on these forums, but not much available yet...
Can someone point me to the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

LOL we do indeed exist. It's not a lie (There's Chainfire too who rooted it, so you might have seen his stuff) The SGS II forum seems quite nice just now - not much needing done other than the odd thread move. You'll probably see me around a bit (if I get a GS2)

Then people will ignore it

Hi all,
I upgraded to 2.3.5 stock ROM from 2.3.4 stock one. I don't find the menu navigation to be smooth, I also feel that the sound quality has gone down not at par with 2.3.4 sound quality. Can other users give their feed backs, it might just be my illusion? Can somebody also guide me to get the default nexus S music player installed on my S2. I feel the native android music player always has neat output, I just want to compare it with Galaxy S2. Getting very naggy, anyways I would seek for one more help I recently got to know that my Galaxy S2 doesn't support adhoc wifi connection, doesn't even detect it. I got to know when I installed wifi manager it detects the network but fails to connect saying android doesn't support adhoc wifi network. Plz help I am able to do this with my Ipod touch, its let down I was very proud abt my device.
I am waiting for my folks feed backs to downgrade from 2.3.5 to 2.3.4. Plz reply to my queries

From when Samsung droids users have turned so inactive. folks O am asking for a help. Is nobody willing to reply
Hey man, I have been using 2.3.5 for about a day now. For me it's been pretty good. I'm using the stock kernel and all. Battery life has been decent overall, and colors seem to looker nicer. I like the update so far, granted its only been a day. The only tweek I did was use the Epic 4G Touch Twlauncher apk so I can easily change the default home screen. I do get quadrant scores of average about 3500. I'll update this with more feedback when I spend some more time with it.

Hey sorry friends I didn't mean to hurt to u all, this forum has always been so fast that I expected this to be quicker. Thats it, how can get upset I got s II coz folks here suggested me to. I am proud to be a part of this forum.
Hello
I just purchased the AT&T Galaxy S2. Got it home and rooted already. All works well so far with no issues. However I do notice on my boot screen, the usual boot logo but on the bottom of the display is a yellow Explanation Point. Is this normal? It still boots up fine and operates as it should. I was just wondering what the yellow explanation point means.
Thank You
If you want the exclamation triangle to go away, flash back to stock kernel. Your using the insecure kernel that was needed to root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
You can get that to go away if you use Entropy's method to restore back to stock which will also root the phone in the process. Be aware though if you do anything like install CWM, you'll get that exclamation point back. It's basically a visual indicator that the phone has been modified... but that's all it is. If you can simply ignore it, you're fine.
Oh Ok Thank You. Guess its a easy indication for any AT&T reps to do a quick check as to check to see if the phone has been hacked or not.
Can you tell me if the bootloader has been unlocked as well with this root method?
To be honest, the AT&T reps (if knowledgable) really don't care about rooting and custom roms. When I picked up my phone I spend a good 10 minutes talking with two of the guys about rooting the phones, cyanogen 7, and how to tether without AT&T noticing. Another rep came over during the conversation and the only thing he said was "root that thing the first chance you have".
How do you get stock rom back. I've only had iPhones and learned everything about jail breaking them, decided to give up iPhone and get gs2. I really want this yellow triangle to go away.

5 minutes of reading the dev forum and you'd have your answer. The dev forum is still only one page!
Plug in a jig from powered off state and it will clear flash counter and remove the triangle even if you are still on a custom kernel

It was never locked in the first place.
The closest thing we have to a locked bootloader is the triangle warning/flash counter. But that's pretty benign.
(Exception: The bootloader of newer Samsungs will only accept signed binaries when trying to overwrite the bootloader it seems. But there is no valid reason to be flashing bootloaders right now, and rarely ever is.)

Many of you are such asses. I've read comments on these forums where people have asked questions and many of you are ruDr and smart asses. you all love the Android platform and it would seem to me that you all would be excited to help and assist someone new. If for no other reason to get more people to see and understand just how awesome the platform is. Instead many of you are only interested in showing how smart you and dumb you can make others seem. The iPhone community was so different from this group of arrogant jerks. I say that about most not all.

calm down - no one is being a "jerk" or "smart ass."
you obviously didn't search for the answer to your question before you asked it - that's all that people are asking you to do.
if everyone were to post a new thread for every question that they have, then the forums will become cluttered with repetitive threads.
all Entropy512 was saying was that this device is so new, that the forums are still very small (the answer to your question constantly remains in the top 5 or so threads in the dev section) - so searching for your solution should be pretty easy at this point.
people are always happy to help, but if it is obvious that you didn't search the forums before asking your question (most of the time, a simple google search is sufficient), you can definitely expect people to tell you to search before posting.
SGS2 i777 showing i9100 on boot screen?!?
I've had my SGS2 (I777) for a week now, it is rooted, when it boots, the splash screen not only contains the yield sign, but it says Galaxy S2 then lists the i9100 model... is this normal or was something done incorrectly in rooting...
I used the exact directions from the sticky root post of using Odin and CWM... i found this very odd, i haven't really had many issues other than people complaining about my voice during calls... i need to figure out how to fix that part especially...

yeah. searching. its only in the rules that you agree to when you register on the forums. there is a video to watch explaining it, and its littered throughout the forums that you should SEARCH before posting a question or whatever random thought pops into your brain.
is it so wrong to assume that when you agree to the forum rules, that you would, i dont know, actually follow some of them?

This is covered all over these forums in multiple threads. It's normal after flashing a custom kernel.

Since the recent topic of conversation is people who don't read or search the forum threads before posting, I find it amusing how this post is right in the middle of said conversation. How many times are people going to ask the exact same question? You can find the answer (being asked by another random person) on pretty much every page of every thread on this sub-forum.
I wasn't asking about the yellow yield sign. I was asking about why it would say i9100. I've literally searched a week and seen nothing mentioning that it is normal to say i9100 when the phone is actually a i777.

A good trick is read the rules.

1. "Hello ... Help please" is ...NOT.. a topic title. In future do not put generic crap. Titles are supposed to be descriptive of topic content so that people who are browsing know what topic is about at a glance.
2. Rule #1 of XDA is to use search before creating topics which you obviously couldn't be bothered to do since this is a FAQ and discussed allot. A simple search would have found you answer in seconds instead of adding to the spoon feed type clutter of XDA.

Indeed. Its getting worse and worse.
I'm actually quite amazed how bad it's gotten.
The AMOLED display on my i9100 failed a couple days ago, and at first I was quite sad.
Then I realized that meant I wouldn't have to read the incredible amount of rule breaking posts that are found in this forum these days... Though I'll probably still pass through from time to time.
Who knows, I may end up replacing the display on the i9100 and keeping it as a back-up.

No, I got an LG Optimus 4X, should arrive this week.
Greetings Folks!!!
I have recently upgraded and rooted my Grand Duos i9082 (currently on Stock v4.1.2 AMB3), and was browsing through the "Root Explorer" app, when I noticed some folders under /mnt/ and /storage/ listed as UsbDriveA, UsbDriveB, UsbDriveC etc.
This makes me wonder if I can connect a USB Flash drive to my phone, and use it as an external storage media? I believe this function is available on Samsung Note & S3 as an inbuilt function (i.e. without having to install any external application). I would like to know if the same function is available on my Grand Duos. Please advise. Thanks. :good:
I advice, this is the wrong forum

Why aren't the mods of these forums not doing anything about this issue?
Maybe it's a plot by the Spamsunites to bring down the HTC-One forum by overloading it with dumb posts containing the word Spamsung ...
Can someone just delete the entire q&a forum? This is like attack from the tards

A quick google search tells me the Galaxy Duo has USB-otg as standard so with the right cable (ebay search for usb otg) you should be able to plug in anything from a flash drive to a terabyte or two of raid array .. (though you may need an external power supply and big pockets for the latter)
