Recently themed and ## menus don't work - Motorola Photon 4G

Is there a way to fix it, or would I have to revert back to the old dialer? If so, is there a way to bring back stock without running my backup? I'm also needing in a menu in themed settings. Someone mentioned they had to revert theirs to get it working. I themed with Dark Fire I believe. Thanks to anyone that could help, or at least point me in the right direction.

I would imagine others would have the same issues with the theme but it seems to be unique to your situation.. Have you tried clearing both cache's and then reapplying the theme from bootstrap..?

To which issue? I can give it a shot, wouldn't seem to hurt anything I suppose. When I installed it, I had to run the 'settings fix zip" to get the settings menu to work period. The menu in question is Location and Security alone, everything else works fine. The ## I just noticed today. I'll reload the theme when I get up in the morning and let you know how it went.

Well I did as suggested, but nothing changes.

[REQ] Stock Notification Bar on Frankin-Twiz

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the stock notification bar/drop down on Eugene's Frankin-Twiz? I would assume it's just a matter of grabbing it from one of the earlier roms, but I'm not too sure on the specifics of how to do so.
I assumed it was just a matter of editing the framework-res, but like I said, not too sure which file(s) it would be.
Am I completely wrong in thinking this is possible? Thanks!

Hi,
do you mean just the matte black instead of glossy bar along the top of the screen? Or the pull down menu showing you current notifications? Or Both?
If just the first, its only one or two drawable files in framework-res.apk, if the latter (pull down on its own or with the top bar too) then its files in both framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk, not too hard to figure out really.
My beta vertical battery mod for franken-twiz (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797) includes most of the changes, and I can post a twframework-res.apk to revert the rest, but be warned, I switched to the non-glossy touchwiz drawable files that come with every other Galaxy S phone, stupid samsung/t-mobile decided our phone needed to be "shinier" than the rest of the series =(.
Cheers,
=)

Hey thanks for the response! I actually really like your work!
I guess to make it easier to explain, the only thing I don't like from Frankin-twiz is when you pull the bar down, where it says "T-Mobile" and "No notifications" or "Ongoing" ... the text doesn't exactly fit in the area.
And I do prefer the matte look over the glossy, so that's probably why I like your stuff!
Edit: Disregard the question about pushing via ADB. I see your instructions in the other thread.
Okay I got the bar taken care of and it looks great! Thank you for that.
Now I'm about to do twframework-res.apk so that it matches, but before I do, does it go in /system/framework as well and do you recommend clearing the cache partition and dalvik-cache afterwards?
Well I got it and it looks perfect! Thanks so much for your help and work!
Edit: Ran into an issue. Whenever I try to download/install from the market, I get a Force Close on com.android.vending. Any idea why? I wasn't getting that problem before.

Hi,
Not sure about any FC issues, market works fine for me.
That said, however, usually FC issues from mods like this can be fixed by running a repair permissions in rom mamager, then rebooting into clockwork mod and clearing the cache and dalvik-cache.
And also, I ALWAYS recommend clearing the cache/dalvik-cache after any mod.
Cheers,
=)

You could also go into settings, apps, manage, market, and uninstall updates..
I don't understand how this happens to ppl... Happened alot with htc devices but never on my sammy yet...
Edit: Thanks Junk, didn't see your post before my last response. That took care of the problem. I wonder how that happened, either way, thank you!

What theme are you using... most of them incorporate the reboot option... unless your using a custom theme... Might try flashing something like gingerblur, or one of the other popular themes in this forum. Then you can edit the framework-res.apk to your liking, replace what ever icons you want back, and you'll have the reboot option as well. Sorry, I'm ot sure how to just add the reboot option though... sure it will require the editing of services.jar or the framework-res.apk.
the theme im using doesnt have it. i want to modify the theme and add it but im no sure what i need to do to add that feature.. does anyone know how?
Can anyone help ...

You could use my MotoBlur theme as a base for your theme. Its just the stock theme with 1% battery and reboot added.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076655
The reboot option is added by editing android.policy.jar.

Tried it the other day for 2.3.4... incredibly difficult... well, maybe not so much difficult, as it is trying to find a complete set of directions... Apparently, the devs used a combination of two different threads that were written for different phones... so the code lines don't match up and it was a damn cluster **** to try an figure out, so I gave up... Kenneth said this will be implemented on his next update for 2.3.4.
I wish I still had the pages saved, but I deleted them after trying to do this for a couple of hours, so I wouldn't be tempted to try it again. Ask in the IRC chat, there are a few people there that can direct you to the right place if you want to attempt, and good luck.
Bump, anyone find a good source for how to do this on gb? I'm not having luck finding the info.

No one's been able to do it yet as far as I know. The gingerbread file structure associated with the reboot option has changed so much that it is incredibly difficult. I had heard a report that Designgears may have figured it out, but I think it was probably a false report, as no Atrix Dev has yet to incorporate it into a ROM or theme.

Just another update... DG said to me a while back that he was able to add the options, but they screwed up the current options so none of them worked. He did not get it working for the Cognition beta.
I tried my hand as well, but couldn't figure it out.
I used gscript and just made a shortcut on my desktop. Works great.
Is it adding the button to the menu that breaks it?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I tried as well, and all I got was me turning my power button into a reset button, options wouldn't show up.. so there was no way to turn it off, it would just reset my phone when ever I tried to pull up the Phone options..
I was working on this a little bit once I got GB update. I am like 80% the way through it. I can link to what I am going off of-
From the Vibrant Forums
I had all the files edited and ready to rock, the problem I was at was the RECOMPILING. I think I was missing some dependencies.
I got all the way up to that point and had to go home for the day at work- never picked it back up. If I get some time at work today I'll give it another crack.
If I get anywhere I'll post my framework-res.apk.
I followed the steps from that thread too and while I could build/compile everything fine and get the options to show in the menu none of the reboot options would work. Seems we're all having similar issues with this.

I was following that thread as well, and my issue was stated above, then I saw this from the DX2 forum, which has GB and on his change log, he stated he added reboot options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I grabbed his theme, compared the framework.jar, framework-res.apk, and android.policy.jar files.. they pretty much match up with ours. So, using Notepad++, I did a compare between the files, added what he added, basically looks like the same things from the vibrant how-to. This time around, when I press for the power options, it comes up normal, but the link to the 'reboot' does not show up... I might try this without the battery %, as that takes up alot of the hex id....
I'm thinking we might need to add that line from DG that he did a while back for the first reboot options on froyo...
I also have no problems with recompile... I'll mess around with it some more when I have free time.. I don't spend much time inside during the summers..
has anyone decompiled the framework-res from the g2x's gb build or maybe even CM? Not USE the framework of course, but maybe see what flags that policy uses for a reboot?
edit* seems like previous posted may have tried what I asked. back to the digi drawing board...

Status bar icons and text overlapping over each other...

I just recently installed CyanogenMod 7 RC1.7 and I wiped all data and cache as well but for some reason no matter what theme I change it to, the same effect happens. Whether stock or custom, the status bar is constantly messy because of overlapping text and icons.
I am not sure what is going on or why but it wasn't happening before. If anyone has any idea I would greatly appreciate the help!
Have you tried reflashing CM7 (no wipe)? That will reset systemui and framework-res to default. Also make sure to verify the md5 sum for the ROM.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Thanks for the response. I did reflash CM7 and that seemed to do the trick. But I think I figured out what I was doing wrong.
I hate the DPI at 240 and so I switch it to 160 in the build.prop file. But everytime I do that, the problem starts to happen again. Is there any way to get around this? Am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be great.
Sorry for bumping this again, but does anyone know why its happening still? I just installed the latest CM7 11/04 build, wiped everything, fresh install.
As soon as I change the DPI to 160, it messes up again like it used to. I use 160 to get the apps from the market because nothing else works right and it usually says this app is not supported for the phone.
If anyone has any clues as to what is going on, I would sincerely appreciate it! All other DPI settings work, except for 160. But 160 is required to download market apps. I am totally screwed.

Removing Icon Text from stock Rosie

I found a bunch of places that people had modded the Rosie.apk to remove the text below icons in Rosie. I tried flashing a few zip's that were supposed to do this but it ended up just making Rosie FC because it wasnt for the Rezound's Rosie. I am running Ineffabilis v1.0 and saw on the MikMik Forums this has been done on many othe Phones/Rosie's. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I tried moving the resources.arsc from a no text Rosie into the stock Rosie but that didnt work out well. Thanks for any help.

when people reference "Rosie" they are usually talking about the sense UI "dock". its the bottom bar on your screen.
I'm sorry maybe I wasn't clear about what I am trying to do. I know there is an option to "Hide Navbar Label" but I want to remove the text below the icons on the home screens. I know Launcher Pro and a few others have this option but I would like to do it with the stock launcher. This is what I am describing LINK.
Here's a Rosie.apk from BAMF ROM, with the text removed.
Well I gave that a shot and unfortunately it does still contain text under the icons. I appreciate the effort though. Hopefully other people will want this MOD and it will be a little easier to come by. If I knew what to edit I would gladly do it myself. Thats the one last thing that would make my setup perfect. It seems like I can find it for every HTC phone but the Rezound and they refuse to work on my phone.
I will double check that I uploaded the right one but that's what I'm using...
This will have my modified phone icon, but I can reupload an original theme version at a later time. I pulled this straight from /system/app, so if it doesn't work, it's something you are or aren't doing....
http://db.tt/eEqKH87O
Well I guess it must be me doing something wrong. I have tried both Rosie's posted in this thread and for some reason I can get them to work but the dastardly icon text still exists. I am using one of the Beats skins, would that have anything to do with it? I am kind of at a loss as to what I can do. If there is a certain way to apply the Rosie please let me know. Unfortunately I feel like I'm losing the battle no matter what I try.
Try the default skin and see if anything changes. Also, how are you installing the different Rosie? Did your phone icon change to mine after you installed?
Yes the phone icon did change. I guess I will try using the default skin, switching the Rosie and going back to the beats skin. I cant see the beats skin being the reason the text would stay there but who knows. Ill give it a shot and keep you posted. Thanks for all the help.
*EDIT* Ok so I tried again after switching to the HTC skin and no dice. I have never had this much trouble with any mod on any of my five android phones. I have been insalling them by moving the edited rosie to /system/app and fixing permissions all via root explorer. I could try going the ADB route but I dont know why that would be any different. What was your process in getting it to work?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27022937/BAMFSettings.apk
See if there's an option in here to disable it. I don't see one on my phone, but I recall possibly doing something besides installing the different Rosie...
Alright I tried that too. It wasn't in BAMF settings and I have basically tried everything under the sun to get this to work. I could easily use LP or ADW but I like all the sense widgets. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I do appreciate all you assistance. My Rezound just doesn't want to cooperate. Damn icon text! Damn you right to hell!
One last thing...you should do a nand backup and hard reset, just to see. There is absolutely no reason that Rosie I posted doesn't just work. I stuck it in a new ROM I flashed last night and it worked from the get-go.
By hard reset you mean format/wipe everything? System, cache, dalvik etc... or something else? Its funny because I even put the Rosie you uploaded into the new BAMF Rezound cubed before I loaded it and for some reason it still didn't stick. There must be something that I am missing. I am no android genius but I am fluent in ADB and have dealt with about ten different android phones. I just cant believe this is giving me such an issue.

Yes, hard reset = full wipe (lingo from my WinMo days).
I don't know what to tell you. I loaded my phone with CleanROM and had it up and running for awhile before discovering BAMF ROM had the textless Rosie...all I did was DL BAMF, stole the Rosie and dropped it in...did a restart with dalvik wipe and all was well

I also pulled the Rosie.apk and bamfsettings.apk from BAMF 1.01 and, after copying over the original to somewhere safe and checking its permissions, I dropped the 2 files into /system/app, fixed permissions, rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik and rebooted normally.
You will lose any non-HTC widgets on your home screens, but you can set them back up.
BTW, Bamfsettings is, itself AMAZING.

You can drop apps in /system, first, change permissions, then transfer them to system/app without ever having any disruptions in data/home screens/widgets/etc. This goes for all apps...
Your Rosie is now textless?

Lockscreen changing wallpaper after reboot

After doing the "bump" I've noticed after rebooting my phone my lockscreen changes back to the default white ink thing. Not sure if it's something to do with having recovery or what. The only changes I've done since bump recovery is I uninstalled all the apps I had frozen after making a nandroid. Has anybody else experienced this. Thanks in advance.

a solution?
I have this problem on my D855 rooted with cloudy. Launcher is nova.
Someone out there with a proper solution?
Many thanks...
Try wiping cache in recovery... It should refresh the nova launcher data that way it can reload everything. Chance's are something just went wrong when installing it.
