Flashing stock firmware on stock - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is it safe to flash a stock 2.3.6 firmware (let's say KL1) on a never rooted stock 2.3.4 XWKI4 through Odin?
Thanks.

Yes that it safe.

Thanks. And thanks for a quick reply. But will it add a number in the Flash Counter.
Thanks.

Yes, but you can erase the flash counter with the jig that costs about £1

Stock roms do not add to custom rom counter .
ROOTING OR CUSTOM ROMS DO stock DOES NOT .

Odin, and I have no idea what all you've done to your phone, so I can't answer the second question.

AS per the instructions .
It will return the kernel to stock but it will not return other firmare to stock and it will not reset the custom rom counter .
Warranty void if custom rom root or custom rom counter above zero .
Easy way is to use Checkfus to download original firmware and flash via Odin .

cool thanks guys .. all i need now is a jig .. to reset the custom binary counter .. am i right?? then i can sell my phone as unrooted stock ??

If you just flash a stock kernel, then maybe, maybe not. If you flash a full firmware, then probably.

I'll think about, thanks for the reply
But I'm still not sure if you need to unlock anyway. You can try to flash the latest firmware from Sammobile.com but if something goes wrong you'll have to do a wipe - since you don't have a custom recovery to do a backup

no, your warranty doesn't work as your system status is custom.

[Q] Can I triangle away with faulty screen?

Hi guys,
My I9100 has an unresponsive screen and is still under warranty, or would be if it wasn't rooted!
So there's the problem, can I return to stock and do all I need to do to get it fixed under warranty without using the screen?
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can.
Find a stock fimrware for your region and flash it via odin mode in your device. No need to do anything on the screen.

Can I use Triangleaway without using the screen? I've tried to install Triangleaway v3.26 through CWM but it fails, I'm running 4.1.2 JB and I've just read I need to be on 4.0 ICS, I downloaded the stock ICS but if I flash that I won't be rooted so won't be able to reset the counter, will it work if I revert to a 4.0 custom ROM to run Triangleaway then go back to stock?

I've just been reading about a jig for £2 on ebay -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141065613432?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
that will reset the counter on an i9100, do these work?

I have an OF1 build and was looking at using this firmware with ODIN. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/guide-sch-i545-vrugof1-look-t3395833
Would I flash this and then do a factory reset?

I recommend the stock firmware from sammobile.com.
