I'm looking for a replacement charger (actually just the cable, as I can currently only charge the TF by plugging it into the dock).
google throws up several results which look the same. Cheap, but no specs, no picture of an actual transformer charging plug on the end of then...
http://www.the-internet-shop.co.uk/asus-transformer/75248-asus-transformer-240v-mains-charger.html
http://www.chargerstore.co.uk/Froogleftp2/asus-transformer-mainsch.html
Except i found another site that ships the cable alone, and looks legit (with pictures, etc.).. and wants £15 for just that!
So I'm sceptical - how these other stores are managing to sell a charger+cable for 1/3 the price of the cable alone. Or are they just scams? Has anyone bought one of these cheap chargers and had it work?
Sorry, no experience of either.
Subscribing to see if someone can confirm suitability.
I was just about to pull the trigger on the 240v wall charger, but then did some research into their other 'Transformer' products such as the car charger, mount and noticed this item:
http://www.the-internet-shop.co.uk/asus-transformer/75753-asus-transformer-signal-booster.html
.....This is a signal booster for the Transformer's phone signal!!! I think they have their products mixed up. I noticed that they have no photos or description about the connectors either.
I'd be interested to see the pouch they are selling with belt-clip!! I'd love to carry my TF'er around my waist all day.
Those chargers look unsuitable and the post above by Paradaz seems accurate in stating the the "seller" has mixed up his items.
If you only want a cable then you could look at this:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250952924163?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
or the Asus Store UK who also sells the complete charger with a cable.

I have broken the plug - where the cable plugs in, so I need a new charger asap, preferably from a UK store rather than online, otherwise I will be out of charge by the end of the weekend, anyone know anywhere that sells them ?
+1, in the same boat!
Unfortunately, swearing lots at my charger did not bring it back to life.
Regards
I have yet to find any electrical stores that stock them.
I got a spare from the Asus Uk Online store.
PS: You've only broken the plug?
Use a usb port whilst the screen is off. It's slower but will charge.
Loads of shops sell a Plug with USB slots as well.
Unfortunately they won't output the powe the same way the ASUS one does, but they'll do similar to USB charging (i think)
Staples sell the official charger, cover, screen protector and dock
Charger is 29.99

So, I bought this on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GJCYGDU
And honestly, while it's a decent enough charging plate for wireless charging, what they don't tell you is that it's not a micro-USB connection. I cited that in my review on Amazon and the company's response was that I could always buy a cheap longer cable should I need one. With so many other choices, I don't think I'd buy this again. It suits my purpose but at this point, I'm of two minds whether or not to return it and see if I can't find something with a micro-USB connection.
Pros:
Lots of colors
Cons:
No micro-USB connection
Not the cheapest of them out there
No indicator light when charging, no way to know if it's charging except by looking at your phone
I got the "Yellow/Mango" colored one. I think that's what drew me to the unit, the fact that they had so many different colors available, yet the trade off of no micro-USB connection is not compelling enough.
Cool colors. And I can see where it could be a problem for other that it comes with a short cable. But for me that's nothing. I citjd extend cables all the time.

No, the cable isn't short, it's not micro-USB compatible on the end that connects to the charging plate.
There are plenty of charging plates out there and for this one to have a "standard" charging connection makes it not usable if you lose the original cord or if the original cord is too short. I am returning this one for another one that has a micro-USB connection at the plate.

I've added the following to my wishlist...
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G9W7PYW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl
It comes with two lengths of micro-USB-compatible cables. Once I process the other one through return, I'll buy this one.
Another thing to note is it comes with a 1a ac adapter, and in the description it tells you to use it with a 2a for best compatability. You'll only be charging at around 500ma I bet because of the loss at each step. I wouldn't give this place my money
Magnetic USB Charging Cable, some one will try it?
http://dx-box.com/high-performance-...e-magnetic-connection-and-charging-speed.html
I will not touch a third party charger. I want to buy the DK30/Dk31 dock and take it apart for the EC21 cable but I'm not sure if its compatible? Does Somebody know maybe?
The page doesn't load for me, but I'd trust the microUSB -> Magnetic convertors over the entire charger. That way you can use the OEM charger or another high quality charger.
A lot of brandless chargers are made lower quality and that can lead to issues where phones "explode". Odds are, whenever you read about a person's phone exploding they were probably using a knockoff charger.
The adapters shouldn't be a problem. It's just a simple wire-to-wire exchange. No circuits.
Something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Magnector-Per...1144360&sr=8-1&keywords=magnetic+charger+sony
EDIT: I got a kick out of "Reverse Attachment Charging Protection", because the charging holes are just different sizes.
My Z1 magnetic charging cable works although it is a tad more easy to dislodge compared to when I was using it on my z1
I have THIS http://www.clove.co.uk/microusb-to-magnetic-connector-adapter and I must say it doesn't work perfectly. The adaptater doesn't 'grip', it stays in place only if you put you Z3 down.

OF COURSE. There are phones exploding just everywhere; you just cannot leave the house without ear protectors because there's exploding phones all around you.
Honestly; I am so sick of reading that "exploding phone" stories over and over. Same with stolen kidneys and similar paramountly believable urban legends.
Is this the charger wich comes with z3 in box ?
Quick Charger EP881
I cant find spec for this,is this the 2A or 1.5A ?

believe its 1.5A based on the same code found on other sony country sites.
http://www.sony.com.sg/product/ep881
however, lazy to check if its the same model that comes with the Z3 although i believe it should be!
This is the one my Z3 came with. T-mobile Netherlands model.

This is 2.5A fast charger wich is great. How much time it needs to 100% charge the battery?Im geting mine tomorrow, hope that comes with same charger.
I'm pretty sure it is 1,5A. Charged my device only once with it and I was surprised with the speed. Will do a timed run next time round.

the picture clearly reads 1500mA and that's what it is. This charger was included with my z3 as well.
2.30h to fully charge the batery with original 1.5A charger. Its not so bad.
EP880 is 1.5A, and is what came with my Z3. I'm intrigued to know what the 881 is.
In fact, given its support of Quick Charge 2.0, I am hopeful of Sony releasing a new PSU that can detect a QC2 compatible device and up the power further. So far I can only find one from Motorola and it's not on sale outside the US (that I can see).
Hi All,
Thought I'd give my review of two different magnetic cables I've purchased from my Xperia Z3.
Firstly, I purchased a £3 magnetic cable from Ebay which was utterly a waste of money! Soon as you picked the phone up or touched it the connection port would move up or down. I contacted the seller who is sending me a replacement so will see if this is any better.
Now on to the more expensive magnetic cable but with a twist.
This magnetic cable I purchased from Amazon had great reviews from previous Z2 users. Now I wasn't sure if it was Z3 compatible but turned out the ports are the same for Z2 and Z3. So I purchased the item from Flubit as you get a little discount if they can get a deal for you and it arrived within 2-3 working days.
Item name: [ Magnector X ] High Performance Universal Sony Xperia Z1 & Z2 & Z3 Charging Adapter for Micro USB Cable - Enhanced Magnetic Connection and Charging Speed [ Black ]
This product felt more durable and solid when taking it out of the mildly fancy packaging. The product itself isn't connected to a cable but has a micro usb port which you attach your original Sony cable to. (unfortunately I need 10 posts before i can show pics but just check it out on Amazon. I tried it for the first time last night as my phone stays next to my pillow and it seems to do the trick as it didn't fall off even with my cheapy case attached to it in the morning.
As the saying is, buy cheap...buy twice! Hope this review helps anyone on making a decision between the cheap ones and expensive ones.:good:

I also just got this cable through today and its fantastic.
Avoid the cheap ones.
Got one first thing Monday morning via Amazon and super impressed because I ordered it at 6.55pm on Sunday night!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H2EEB4S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got mine from Amazon (Prime) but there was only one in stock and I got it, so now it's showing from another supplier.
It's great! I had two unknown Chinese-made ones before, and both struggled to stick to my Z2 or Z3, causing all sorts of weird issues (mostly that of what it would be like to attach and detach the lead repeatedly). They're now history.
So far this is clamping on so solid that there's no chance of that happening, and I always 'rotate' the magnetic chargers off so no chance of pulling out the connector.
I also got the official dock, but at £20-odd at a time (and I now have a mountain of docks because all I need are the inserts, not a new dock for each phone) I will probably get one or two more of these. The dock by the bedside and these around the house and at work.
Hi what's do you mean by rotate to keep it secured?
When taking off I simply fold/twist it back rather than pull it off and risk damage, given how strong the magnetic force is.
I have bought this one on ebay , "Magnetic Charging Dock Cradle Desktop Charger for Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact" for about 10 euro's (incl sending)
it works nice , you don't need to open the covers each time.
I did receive this charger from ZeroLemon in return for writing this review.
I received this charger and the first thing I thought was "wow, what a well built charger". The USB cable is really heavy duty and the wall plug feels really solid. I think the detachable prongs is a nice touch, allowing you to change them out for the European ones when traveling. The charger works just as well as the one from Motorola that came with my Nexus 6.
After using for a while, my only gripe is that the included USB cable is a little short. I have a hard time plugging my phone at my desk because of the range restriction. For the price though, that is a small complaint and overall, I'm thrilled with this charger. It's built to last and just works. What more could you want from a charger?
I gave this 5 stars on Amazon.

I like the charger I got too! Speaking of the detachable prongs, I didn't get any extras, did you; or have you found where to get them?
They gave you it to use and review for them and for the review on amazon. You will get an email soon where they ask you the specific feedback they are looking for and a link to your Amazon review.
I dont want to clutter up the forums with more of the same reviews so im going to piggy back off of your review. Here are my PROS and CONS for the charger.
Pros:
-Thick cable
-Charges fast
Cons:
-No charge indicator on the brick
-Short cable
- A little on the large side
All in all I like the charger. Not having a charging indicator isnt a bad thing, since there is not a light glowing in the room at night. At the same time I like the visual confirmaiton that things are working sometimes, especially when you have a wallet style case, its just annoying haveing to openthe case every time you plug it in to make sure everything is good. I actually purchased a second one after having this charger for a few weeks becuase it simply worked. I have gotten a few of the off brand QC chargers in the past and they mostly have been crap. Just remember to hit up monoprice for a longer thick cable after buying the charger, unless you hae an outlet on your desk at.
Just got my review unit in. Can't wait to give it a go with its first charge! It's sucks though because I'm in the middle of testing some kernel tweaks for battery life... Blah. I'll be able to find out how it performs tonight. :3
So... Mine burned. I assume it's because my roommates used it today on phones not made for turbo charging and caused some feedback to a voltage regulator. Despite my warnings to not use it, they didn't listen and I'm pissed...
you can use it on any phone, it just won't deliver the higher wattage if the phone can't handle it

I don't doubt it, but it only happened when they used it...
causation is not correlation
Strangely it seems all the ZeroLemon request for reviewers threads are 404 now...
They kept emailing me asking me to review their product, when I had made a review on Amazon weeks ago. I kindly asked them to stop, and they finally did as of recently. Maybe it coincides with the 404'd pages now?
Anyone selling theirs, mine got stolen.. lol I'll buy it LMK
Would just like to share with everyone a good quality and very useful tool I've recently got hold of.
I've had and used a few different Choetech products and the quality is always amazing, the presentation when the products are delivered gives them a premium feel even though they are quite a reasonable priced product. I would say the quality rivals that of anker and aukey.
The cable itself works with any USB A charger and any device with a micro USB port, a USB A-C cable is also available for those who have a USB C device. The cable is just plug and play, once u connect to a charger the display lights up and when the device is connected you get readings.
I tried this cable with a few different devices and chargers but I found it especially useful for testing how good the fast charge chargers we're when using a galaxy s7, even though the s7 shows fast charging I found different chargers would give me more current at 9v.
For anyone interested in a good quality charging cable that is also interested in seeing just how good there chargers are this is a perfect product. I've also used the cable to transfer data to and from my phone as I wondered if this would be effected and I'm happy to say it wasn't.
For anyone in the UK interested I've got discount codes that are valid till the 31st of jan that make these or the USB C version £6 each. Hope someone finds these useful.
Code 5M9WY7AX

They do now!~
I just ordered and received one of these things to finally have one for monitoring. This thing was great and has actually taught me a few things i didn't already know. For one, I didn't realize that fast charging stopped the second I turned on the screen of the phone! That's right these phones jump back to regular 5volt charging when the screen is on. The second the screen goes off it's back to 9 volts.. Good to know when you are trying to maximize the charge rate. Anyways.. i digress.
So far this puppy has been accurate. I have used it on my S7 Edge as well as my htc 10 with a choetech micro to C adaptor. I am able to monitor and track the various stages of quick charging without disturbing the phone's charging. This cable seems to be well made and doesn't seem to be cheap. The display is solid and bright.
I attached some extra pics showing the display toggling between charging current and voltage. If you are looking for a simple USB current monitor with some forward capability I would recommend taking a look at this one.
For $16.99 shipped on Amazon Prime it's not a bad deal
