Hello Everybody,
Just joined this forum. I can see some threads with similar titles but none of them seem to have a solution. So I would like to ask again.
Recently I noticed that the default android browser has been unable to open any web pages. But opera mini (which I installed today) opens the pages fine. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Do you know what might be causing this problem? Any fixes?
(All other apps are able to access the internet fine... just the default browser can't.)
Regards,
SC

I'm using a Galaxy S II I9100G with DZKH4 stock firmware, Android 2.3.4. I'm finding that the browser sucks. Firstly, there's no Home in the menu. I can set a URL as Home in the options, but while I'm browsing, there's no way jump to Home other than opening a new window. Then the bookmark function is broken. I marked a page as a bookmark, but when I click the bookmark button, it doesn't show. In fact, the bookmarks list is totally empty! If I tried to re-add the same page as a bookmark, it says that the bookmark already exist, but I can't find it!
So the question is, why does it suck, and is there anyway to fix it, or even replace the stock browser with a better version? I like the stock browser on my (now dead) HTC Desire, is it possible to put that one into my Galaxy S II?
I use Dolphin Browser HD, free on the market. Lots of addons and highly customizable.

I like the stock browser, Well the old one with bounce and not the new one with crappy overscroll.
Only thing i wish it had was tabbed browsing. I know Dolphin has that but i dint really like that one.
As for the OP bookmark issue ive no idea why that is happening, it certainly shouldnt be. Have you tried clearing the cache/data in settings?
use opera browser, dolphin hd they are good ones from the market..but for me i love my stock cant live with out it....and if you press menu button while in browser you can get options to make the browser the way you want.....i cant live without it
I switched to Opera mobile from day 1. The stock browser doesn't reflow text when zoomed in, make reading articles a pain in the butt.
Hey,
Is there some way to "force" permanent desktop mode in the stock browser on ICS?. I tried ICS Browser + and setting it to the desktop setting it still rendered mobile sites. The only thing that really made it render desktop sites was toggling "Request desktop site", but that setting is cleared every time the browser closes.
I know there is/was mods out for the older roms for the SGS2, which allowed you to set permanent desktop mode without screwing up facebook. But so far I have not found any for the stock ICS browser.
But does anyone know any, or knows ways I can achieve this WITHOUT downloading another browser.

Click to collapse
Have a look in "settings>apllications>`browser´"
There delete the Data once.
If the same thing appears after a new start of browser it is set in settings from Rom or kind of it ...

Hannibal,
are you talking about me having to do it in ICS Browser + or the stock browser.
Still no smart way of making the Stock browser display desktop sites by default?
It's so simple to do on a Note 2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35756070&postcount=117

SO, what browsers are available that allow setting User Agent string sticky (not every time you launch)?
I've been using Dolphin, also ICS Browser+. ICS Browser+ doesn't work in Jelly Bean, so that only leaves Dolphin. I gather from reading the owner's manual that the Desktop View check box is not sticky (in the stock browser), you have to manually set it for each site.
Last I looked, Firefox and Chrome both lack this obvious feature. Are there any others out there that have a User Agent setting?
Thanks, Bob Graham
Boat Browser is the only one that I know of that will support Flash Player in Jelly Bean. I still use Dolphin HD for other stuff, because I like the left side swipe to access bookmarks, but I use Boat Browser if I need theFlash functionality.
I was not happy when Dolphin pulled the option to enable Flash. We should be able to make that choice.

Boat browser and Dolphin browser both have a setting to put your browser in desktop mode permanently. These are also the best two browsers for Android in the order that I've listed them, with Boat browser being #1 because it's slightly less resource-hungry, and a little faster than Dolphin.
As far as Adobe Flash, it works mostly fine in Boat browser. Dolphin has stopped support for Flash, so you have to use an older version of Dolphin. You can download all versions of Flash, including the latest version of Dolphin that supported Flash at the link below:

I am using HTC Desire S, upgraded to RUU version Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. This RUU version came straight from HTCDev. This RUU version doesn't support inverted mode.
Because of this difficulty, I am unable to search and find web browsers that support inverted mode. Google search will always come up with tutorials on how to turn on inverted mode in the ICS browser, which this RUU version doesn't support.
Where can I find a list of browsers that support Inverted Mode/Night Mode?
I do know Dolphin Browser dropped support for Night Mode, which is a shame.
