[Q] help me - Motorola Photon 4G

i buy photon 4g Yesterday but i see small net of dots on screen just like old tv screen or when v see monitor screen very closely .plz tell me what is this and how to change photon screen resolution and solve the problem i am waiting

Any chance you can post a screen shot of what you are seeing?

What you are talking about is actually an effect of a pentile display. If you are coming from a phone like a Samsung, or other phone with an AMOLED display, you probably haven't seen this before.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. It's one of the criticisms of pentile. It bothered me at first, but I very quickly got over it, because I realized how much better this display looks in direct light. It's also so much easier on your battery, it doesn't use near the juice that Samsung and HTC displays do.
You will come to love your pentile screen. You can do a Google search for that type of screen to get more pro's and con's.

oooooooooooooooo hahahahahaah dado main ne tum se kaha tha k yeh koi problem ni hai per tu meri kahan sunta hai gando yeh koi problem ni hai

sorry guys i have said the things is in our local language i m saying that the lucky.79 is my one best and closed friend he bought a mopho yesterday and he doubt that the phone which he buy is A+ china copy because he notice the pentile pixel display i told him that the every thing ok but he a NOOb

Anyone had their x10 replaced and noticed screens yellow-ish

Just got my replacement not sur eif its because its new but the screens quite yellow tinged, quite annoying makes the what was a great screen look ****, specially against white BG on browsing etc hmm, new lcd? to me its far from my old unit as far as quality
Have you update it? When I first saw my X10 it was also ugly, but with the firmware updates it is very better now.
stop posting questions in general
a little cranky? yeah its back to my backup / dual touch kernel
still as a yellowish fugly tinge lol but no random overheating/reboots on this handset so at least i can use it

Is Atrix Screen lame or im wrong?

I Brought the Atrix but i have some doubts about it.
First, its the second time i got and Device with the screen a little bit Yellowish, when compared to the white from the notebook, First was the Ipod touch that compared to my brothers one, looked yellowish, then i compared to an iphone then the iphone looked more yellowish than mine. and now Atrix.. Is this normal?
And I have some problems with colors, i dont know if its Android that has less colors or else
take a look at this screenshot:
can you see the "layers" in the wallpaper? in the Pc Screen it Look perfect. Who guilty for this problem? i dont remember seeying this problem on my ipod.
Thanks
Check to see if there is an option for "high quality drawing" in this launcher. Better, unninstall launcher and see if that happens on stock too.
About the colors, yes, it's yellowish. Many cellphones are, unfortunately. Thats a bit of detail Nokia always gets right and no one notices or talks about it.
Hahah Oi Viamonte, tbm so brasileiro, mas vamos manter o ingles. Ok ill try those methods
Tried the High Resolution Drawing, didnt helped =/ is this normal in other phones like samsung galaxy S2?

Those tend to be to blue.

The banding is most likely caused by the fact that the Atrix actually has a full 24bit screen and most other phones hop along with 18bit (dithered). On top of that most applications like the Android Gallery only display in 16 bit colour (Moto probably didn't bother to fix it either). Since there's no dithering on the Atrix (as it isn't required) you end up with banding. Just assign the wallpaper using another app which does it directly (there's a few on the market). Or, if you run CM7 you can force dithering the performance menu. Until more 24bit apps come out the CM7 dithering trick is probably the way to go.
The yellowish tinge is likely because most other screens actually fall on the reddish side (especially AMOLED pentile types).
The Atrix screen is beautiful. Try getting the black wallpaper from the market. Some people say movies look bad. People play the wrong movies. Get Moboplayer and a hi res 720 movie. The screen and colors are again beautiful. The only issue with the screen is it is not good in daylight. Set the brightness to 60 or 70....this phone amazes me every day.

Got a new S2 is everyone's screen like this ?

Picked up a Galaxy S2 on the weekend so been playing around with it as you do when you have a new toy.
Come from a Desire HD..
Just wanted to ask i used Miui on the Desire with a black and grey theme...
So set this phone up the same, love the vibrant colours etc but mine's really struggling with Grey's so much so the theme i loved on my Desire HD lookes really naff on this Galaxy..
I've downloaded some black and white photo's this morning and the phone just doesn't seem to display them very well, colours are stunning the blue's greens really vibrant but the only way i can describe the grey's is they almost have a blue hue like looking at a photo negative..
My question is are all S2's like this and is it a price to pay for the vibrancy in other colours, or is there something wrong with my one...
Thanks
First of all welcome to the S2 forum. There seem to be a few problems regarding the S2 screen different users complaining of different faults. I know what you mean with yours mine seems to have a yellow tinge on greys. I downloaded the voodoo screen tuning app off the market (root needed), and i must say that it is superb. Download it and give it a try.
Ricey
Using the SM2 A2 Line setting massively improved the black/white/grey contrast...
Thanks...
Just thought i would add that if someone thinks there screen doesn't look right compare it to another S2..
I did and then went back into Carphone Warehouse and they agreed it wasn't right and have given me another S2 and this one is much much better...
Second samsung i've purchased and im not having much luck, always had HTC's for years trouble free, bought my Daughter an S2 for xmas and thats currently away being repaired (you can't hear her without the loud speaker on during a call)
And mine defo had a dodgy screen...
So 1 good S2 out of 3 supplied so far what odds on that...
Happy with this one though the screen is awesome...
mine isn't like this...

Question(s) to S users (screen)

Hi guys!
Im thinking of buying this phone, but Im little unsecure about the screen. On pictures the screen looks kind of small when it comes to width? It looks same as iPhone 4/S, or what? Is the small width a problem, or is it working very nice?
Do someone have Xperia X10 or some other phone before that can take a picture for comparing? Or do someone have dimensions on the screen width?
Im thinking of Xperia S or LG Prada 3.0 but I don't want a phone with the same screen width as iPhone.. its a little bit small for me.
Thanks!
Skjermen er ikke like liten som iphone, dette er en veldig god telefon anbefales på det sterkeste!
Ikke i bredden heller? Har du noen mål av bredden på skjermen?
I went to currys today and the Xperia S screen is just amazing and the width is fine

Write in English guys... Here you can see the width (of the screen) of the two phones. Ofc the Xperia S has a wider screen, but yes it is not as wide as for example the SGS2.
Okay, so the width is fine.
Sorry for no english above xD
Yeah, but is the screen on Xperia S the same width as X10 maybe? I havnt used a SGS2 so I'm not sure, but I tried a Galaxy S I and the screen was pretty huge, so it does not have to be as huge in width as Galaxy S I
Coming from a IP4 I can 100% say it is not the same, the S is a totally different class, it's huge compared to the 4 but importantly not too big which I think the HTC One X maybe. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents, go for it, you won't be dissapointed (and after a week you'll find the battery life settles down to easily lasting all day)
Huge.. yeah its a little bit huged compared to X10 for example.. tried a dummy at a local store.. xD
But I can say, that I have ordered one now! CAN'T wait!

[Q] Fragile display and terrible camera

I have two discussions to be made. Those are as follows:
1. The fragile display. Though the Moto E comes with a gorilla glass but it feels really fragile. Let me tell you how. Have you ever touched an LCD screen of a laptop or any non-touchscreen? Did you notice that when you touch it, you see "waves" emanating from the point where you touch. It feels like touching some liquid. This happens upon touching all LCD screens (which arent touchscreens). So the problem is, even the slightest of touch on the Moto E's display creates these waves especially at the center of the display and at the edges. Is this problem there with all moto e units or is it the problem of only my handset?
2. Well, everybody knows Moto E's camera is quite terrible. Is it possible to take sharp close up shots ? I often use my phone's camera for taking pics of pages from books and read them on the phone later. I took a pic of a page and the photo was blurred as hell. Could read nothing. So is there any hope with close up sharp shots?

Well for 1st question - The screen of my moto e is very solid didn't saw any waves
2- moto e camera is fixed focus so it can't focus on text sorry but taking pics of text pages will do you no good as it will lack focus.
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.
1. So this means it's the problem with only my handset?! What the hell! Even the slightest touch creates those LCD display-like waves! What to do now?
2. Alas, I use the phone camera for only one purpose and I cant even perform that. Feels like I wasted my money. They said its "touch to focus" so I thought I wud need to touch the display and it'll focus automatically and take a pic.

1- I am confused how you are getting these waves its gorilla glass not some plastic, You can check with other members if they have some problem like this but I am sure no one will have that kind of problem so best is to get you moto e screen checked.
2- For camera, it's bad real bad for focusing on text (I know it I tried ) Its not touch to focus its touch to set exposure. I am sorry I am not able to help in camera department.

1. I dunno whats the problem. I only get the waves at the center and at the edges of the display no matter wherever I touch it. As if the gorilla glass is somehow touching the main display inside! :/
2. Too bad I was mislead. This is a major setback for me.
Take it to service center

I never knew that a "fixed focus" camera existed. Every phone provides an auto focus cam (even cheap ones). I never knew there were cams which couldnt take close up shots and wasnt aware that Moto E's cam was one of them.
I'm thinking of buying a new phone. My budget is 10,500 INR. I want a tier-1 branded phone. Any suggestions?

Go with Galaxy S Duos 2 S7582.....
As for the screen problem, I can vouch that my E doesn't have this problem neither any of my friends have this defect with E...
Ask FK for a replacement as soon as you can... FK provides a 30 days replacement warranty....
Even my phone creates waves on a small touch
not much at the edges, but at the center, the slightest touch creates waves. pressing it hard makes a whole lot of it
wonder what happens when its pressed hard while removing back cover
@parineeti Yeah, thinking of that one only. But RAM and GPU are a problem. Which is better? Adreno 302 or Broadcom Videocore IV?
@anil Exactly. Its mostly at the center n very less at the edges. i think this problem is there with most Moto E units, but most people dont notice it actually. Thank God I'm not the only one.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post on an old thread. But, I just got a white Moto E a few days ago and I have the exact same problem! When I first booted up my device and got onto the home screen, THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH cause a rainbow ripple on the center of the screen. It feels like I'm touching a hallowed piece of plastic device. Not sure if I'm going to send it back to Motorola for a "like-new" one or just live with it.
I have same issue with my screen also, I guess we have to live with it. [emoji29]
Sometimes it's so annoying.
