Where did the Honeycomb wallpapers go when I updated to ICS? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Anyone have the wallpapers that shipped with the prime? When I installed ICS some of them seem to have disappeared. The one in particular is almost all black with the Android guys printed on it. I would like to have all of them that shipped with the Prime since I did not really get a chance to look through them or use any of them before I updated to ICS.

Do we have a release date for the ICS update?

Has anyone read an actual date yet? I heard in Jan. I saw ICS on the new Nexus and it looks awesome!
Not sure a solid date, but Asus said it would be in January. Of course, Google had a hard time predicting updates to its Nexus devices, and kept missing dates for updating the OS on its older phones. Hell, they originally said the Nexus One would be updated to ICS, but then said it wouldn't.
If Google can't predict it than I would take any announcement as an approximation. However, I think the prime will be updated soon. I bet it already works and is ready they just did not want to risk shipping with the new OS.
ICS is great though. I have it running in a virtual machine and it is very nice.
What's the advantage of ice creem over Gingerbread ? Other than appearance?

Jan 31. Everything else should exceed expectations.

A lot of UI and feature additions, but performance and battery usage get a good boost. You can really see this in a Virtual Machine. Gingerbread runs horrible and Honeycomb is almost unusable, but ICS is smooth like butter.

It has a whole bunch of new UI tweaks, from the multi-tasking (I guess you can swipe left and it shuts down the program), to the notifications pane, it provides more information in bigger panels, and a settings option in the notification panel as well. I'd imagine more widgets as well. I also read somewhere it runs much smoother and uses less memory than Gingerbread, just to name a couple things off the top of my head.
being that they're running test builds on it internally already, i can see it happening sometime in jan
Is there any want to get a rom lioe it and boot via sd?

what's you virtual machine setup? is it difficult to set it up? I'd like to give it a try too, I've tried the ICS virtualbox thing, it was still laggy everywhere.
Hopefully, when they're talking about updating tablets "in the weeks ahead", they're talking about the TP.

Google just announced ICS version 4.03 to be released. They want that to be base version for tablets n phones.

I use the AVD (android virtual device) that's part of the SDK. Its much easier than setting up a real virtual machine since you would have to compile android from source, and it works well enough to test drive. My main goal was to try and register my avd as a device in the Google Market so I could get some 10 cents apps that were not compatible with my phone but would be with the Prime; however, I ran into snags getting the Android Market working, so I decided it was not worth the time to get a couple of 10 cent apps.
You can get more information here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
http://www.abctrick.com/2011/10/complete-guide-about-how-to-run-android.html
It can sound complicated, but it not really. Once you have the SDK, you can create a virtual device and you are good to go. It will lack all the Google apps, but there is a way to get them working with some effort. I just did not have the time.
The first tablet to get CM9 will be the G-Tab 10.1 and it's expected fairly soon. Steve Kondik, the founder of CyanogenMod, is now a Samsung employee.

This is little offtopic, But it's shows that ICS will make Prime faster.
HC isn't so good and have its performance problems, but with Tegra3 its seems to perform well regarding the reviews that been made. So I am pretty excited about how good and fast it will be with ICS.
XOOM have got a alpha rom, and the quote is from The Verge
" but the good news is that early indications show that Ice Cream Sandwich is showing much better performance on the Xoom than Honeycomb did"

Worry about getting the Prime first.
According to Asus Singapore, the device will be released on 2nd week of January for us (yeah, sad us ) but it will come with ICS preinstalled. That might be a gauge as to when ICS might be released as an update.

do you have a link or something to verify this?
if it's accurate, ICS should hit all TF201 devices essentially at the same time, so super early jan/late dec would be pretty sweet, as the less time i have to spend with ****ty ****ty ****ty HC the better.
Here.
Hi all, each individual country will have different shipment date of the products and thus for SG, based on latest schedule, stocks will be available in Jan 2012. In addition, the Eee Pad Transformer Prime for SG will be in Ice Cream sandwich which customers do not need to do FOTA update. Thanks for your kind understanding.

[Q] Difference between gingerbread and Honeycomb/Icecream Sandwich

The only info I have been able to find is is vague and all it says is that 3.0 was made for the tablet so that it wasn't a mobile phone OS stretched to fit the bigger screen. Does that mean there wasn't really new features added?
Never actually used Honeycomb myself as I have a 7 inch galaxy tab with gingerbread but i'm considering getting an asus transformer TF101 due to the bigger screen size to make reading easier.
Trying to do my research into the OS's and am having trouble finding a listing of new features each OS version added if anything.
I know the transformer is getting upgraded to ICS but other than knowing its a newer version number i'd like to at least know there is a benefit or reason to update it other than the obvious bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Very useful links even if I only understood ever 10 words lol I might be a tech support person but other than PC's and windows the big fancy words in stuff like those patch notes leave me more confused than anything else. Even so at least I can see theres more than I was led to believe.
I know theres been news of ICS tablets coming out but in a way i'm also wondering if the Honeycomb tablets will be able to take full advantage of ICS after an update or if some ICS tablet only features will be there kinda like when new iphones come out and only the 4s can use siri but the old ones can use the rest with the new OS.
Main reason i'm looking to upgrade is the galaxy tab seems a little slow and freezes at times and I think it might be that its just not powerful enough plus with my vision getting worse I want a bit of a bigger screen.
haha I have to low of a post count to quote you cause your post included outside links xD

will we get official ics

Yes when will we get official ics
In April, according to Sony Shop here
Good question....last I heard, it would be some time in late March or April. Haven't heard too much lately, but I would expect it somewhere around this timeframe.
IceCream is more for phones than for tablets. We already have the goodies from ICS.
It was rather to level out the gap between Gingerbread and Honeycomb.
Sony Slow
Most other tablet makers have released ICS.
Sony is very slow in releasing it.
I sold an Asus Transformer to buy Sony. Asus has already released ICS for the Transformer.

Not actually really true. Asus have as they have the release device for ICS on Tablets (Transformer Prime) and therefore have had a while to prepare. Samsung, for example, who have so much of the Android Tablet market behind them, have not updated any of their devices, to my knowledge. Sony is actually doing quite well to have ICS out so soon, particularly for a device with such a customised OS image.

Sorry, that's just plain BS.
Honeycomb codebase is riddled with issues and HW acceleration is not fully implemented.
My Atrix (tegra2 so should be more or less identical performance) running ICS blitzes all over this tablet in terms of UI speed and smoothness - and its a hacked together beta. The browser - oh my god what a masterpiece. So I expect same results for this tab. Go over to the transformer forums for example and see how their tegra2 tab has been supercharged by ICS.

Touchwiz update for ICS?

Do we know if there will be an update on the current touchwiz following the ICS release? Ive played around with the stock ICS and noticed the same touchwiz as on gingerbread. I hope samsung release a new touchwiz with a new face to it!!!
I like bits of touchwiz, but some other bits i dont like!
Please samsung release something good
I certainly hope so. I only recently flashed a custom ROM on my phone as I was waiting for orange UK to release their ICS update but after seeing a review of the ICS touchwiz update I wasn't all that impressed as it just looks the same! I suppose this is because a large proportion of phone users wouldn't appreciate a huge change to how their phone works all of a sudden. I have the HyDrOD3N-ICS rom and I like it. Just a few issues with my battery life after flashing this ROM but pretty sure i've sorted it now by changing some settings.
I would imagine we won't see any big changes to touchwiz until the GS3 is released
I doubt you'll ever see any dramatic TouchWiz upgrade on the S2, just as there was never any large update on the S1.
I can't imagine base users would appreciate a massive graphical overhaul to their phone after they've just become acquainted with the setup. If you're not happy with the TW Launcher, just install a third party launcher - plenty to choose from.
Or if you want to stick with the TW Launcher, wait for the S3 w/ TouchWiz 5.

[Q] Thinking about getting a SGSII. I have a few questions.

I currently own a Sony Xperia Ray, I like it but after getting very disappointed with the ICS update this phone got, I have been thinking of replacing it, and now I have the chance to do it because my father needs a smartphone for work, and I can just give him my Ray and buy a new one for me.
Anyway, since it's quite an old phone, I was wondering if it's still worth it. I had the chance to try it a few days ago from a friend of mine, his SGSII had some AOKP rom installed and it seemed very fast and bug-free. I did not like the screen very much, since I'm used to the sharp screen Ray has, the screen seemed a bit more pixelated, and also I noticed a blueish tint on white backgrounds.
Anyway, here are my questions:
Which one is the latest official firmware available for it? I heard it's 4.0.4 but I'm not sure. After the giant disappointment I got with Sony, I'd be happier to know it has at least the latest version of ICS right now. I have a thing against homebrew roms and would avoid them if possible, no offence intended to all the talented developers of XDA. I like to keep the stock firmware and just add mods and tweaks to it.
Also, how do you like the stock interface available for it in the latest official firmware? Do you think it's very obsolete or flawed? How does it compare to the one on the SIII?
Do you think there is anything that pushes the SGSII to it's limits and makes you think it's not powerful enough? I often get this feeling on my Ray, especially in the browser and some games. I kind of like some Gameloft games for Android but they don't run as well as I'd like them to on my Ray.
Do you think the low resolution of the screen is a big limitation? Do movies look good on it? I am a bit underwhelmed by the screen on the SGSII, especially after trying the Xperia S, which has an utterly amazing screen.
I assume it's safe to say that Sammy won't update it to Jelly Bean, right?
That's all I guess. Feel free to recommend me another phone if you think the SII is not worth it in 2012. I can't spend much more than what the SII costs though (around 380€ new here).
