Can I use the primes mic when in splashtop HD? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Been using my prime to use rosetta stone that I have on my comp. If you have a mic the program will have you repeat words/phrases and check to see if you are saying it close enough to what it should sound like.
So is it possible to set up my primes mic to be used through splashtop hd?

Yes, ive used skype on it. Pretty sick imo

How did you get that to work? When my program asks for a mic input, I scan for mics (within the program) and it doesn't see anything. So I assume I have to set it up somehow for the program to recognize it?

bump. Anyone know how? Seems like its possible from Davids post

Anyone tried the Motorola HS830 bluetooth headset?

I am considering getting a Motorola HS830 bluetooth headset (see http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details/0,,75,00.html for details), but would like to know if it works with the Wizard before I do. Unfortunately, it is not stocked at any of my local stores.
Has anyone had the opportunity to try one, and if so, what is your opinion of it?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using a HS820 with no problems at all. I would guess that the 830 works as well.

I appreciate your comment. However, the HS830 is actually designed as an attachment for a motorcycle helmet and is therefore a very different device from the HS820 (which is a fairly standard headset).
I should probably have been a bit more specific in what sort of information I was looking for in my original post. I am specifically wondering about the following...
1. Will it pair with a Wizard? If the answer is no, then the remaining questions don't matter of course.
2. What is the incoming sound quality like - can you hear whoever your talking to clearly when driving on the highway, etc.?
3. What is the outgoing sound quality like - can whoever your talking to hear you, or does the wind drown you out, etc.?
4. Does the built in Voice Speed Dialer utility work well with it?
5. Does it work well with MS Voice Command using the registry hack to enable it via bluetooth?
6. Any other opinions regarding the device (size of the buttons, weight of the pendant, whatever).

Herald/Wing with a BTB200

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with a CD-BTB200 bluetooth kit that will allow me (technically) to broadcast bluetooth music to my headunit, and also to use as a handsfree through the stereo. Has anyone done this before? On the AVIC411 forums, a lot of people have had some serious issues with WM6 and synchronicity, but some people have downloaded JetWARE and been able to use one function or the other.
Any input would be awesome.
Ok...it seems no one else cares, but I got it to work with the phone functionality. It's rather cool sounding, and I like it a lot. The only problem I'm running into currently is that I can only send my contacts across one at a time, which is kinda lame.
question
do u mean u can play music in ur car, as long as the car is bluetooth enabled?
thats great..i dont have a car with that yet.. but i plan to, and thats great to know.. thanks

So you got it working. with out any bugs,
Try this: in the registry of your device HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS\COD
change the value to 5374476 (DEC). That helped me. The Phone changes in bluetooth to a smartphone (I don't know the difference to WM5-6.1).
I used jetwaremobile.com and downloaded the hands free config profiles onto my wing and it works fine.

Bluetooth Remote Control for Android Media Player, etc

I'm looking for a Bluetooth remote to use in my car, to control my G1 when it's hooked up as a music player. This is both a safety and convenience concern.
The starting point is finding a remote control that transmits Bluetooth directly to the G1 (i.e., not infrared or wired). It needs, at a minimum, a forward and a stop button. Reverse, pause, and other functions are nice, but not mandatory.
The other half of the solution is software to control the media program in Android, which may or may not already exist; if not, I'll commission someone to write it. Maybe I can even offer a turnkey system for sale if there's enough interest.
I know someone's will say "search the forums", and I did. What I found seemed to be focus on wired remotes for another HTC phone, or remote controlling your PC with your phone. But if I missed a relevant post, please do correct me.
Ideas are greatly appreciated.
remote
there is a remote for gaming used for the n95 i saw on a website it worked for android on a basic level. maybe that might help. in the development of this
Found this on another thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Wc0KqnW2M that some people are using. Jabra BT3030
Aux cable from car stereo plugged into remote. Remote paired with phone. Not *completely wireless* but atleast you don't have to look at your phone.
Does that get you anywhere?

Hmm, I posted a reply to this, but it isn't showing up. Maybe forgot to submit.
Anyway, thanks for pointing this out. I had seen this a long time ago and forgot all about it. That's exactly the kind of thing I want. Here's the instruction manual, for anyone else who might be interested. It's about US$55.
The only problem I see here is that it'll register as a headset and thereby disable the sound coming out of the extUSB connector in the car.

It's the Zeemote JS1, and this blog has a video showing it interacting with a G1. This may ultimately be what I'd have to go with... it seems to be designed solely as a controller, without A2DP getting in the way. But looks like it needs some kind of interfacing software, at least on the Nokia. At US$20, I should just get one and play around with it. Cheaper than buying another car stereo with BT built in.
Dual Infrared + Bluetooth Remotes
FWIW, I ran across two rare, interesting items.
One is the RicaVision Vave 100 Universal Remote. Unfortunately, it's $349... but in theory, it would control both your car stereo (via infrared, which the majority of remotes use) and the G1 (via Bluetooth). It's able to "learn" commands from 24 infrared devices, and has a 2.4" 240x320 color LCD screen. No PC or internet connection is needed for configuration.
The screenshots show artist/track info being received from Windows, so it's Media PC-oriented, but still a possibility -- assuming you could program it accordingly. If so, just carry it back and forth between home and car: use it inside for your TV and PC, outside for the car stereo and G1.
The other device is the Ricavision SideShow Remote for the same price, also having IR + BT transmitters. This is purpose-built for Windows SideShow, and has fewer buttons -- volume, play/pause, prev/next, etc. It's smaller than the Vave, but still has a 2.5" QVGA screen. This is perfect for my car setup, but there doesn't seem to be a learning mode or any way to program, so the chances of it working are about zero. Boo!

If that worked in my case it'd be perfect, and it's the smallest form factor yet. The only problem I foresee with this and the Jabra is that they'll want to subvert my wired headphone output over to A2DP. But for $13 I'll probably take a chance.

Yeah, buying directly from mainland China, you never know what you'll get -- and if it doesn't work, it's usually pointless return it. But I've bought stuff from DealExtreme before, and dirt cheap, too. Back when I had this flashlight habit....

Well, I finally bought a Jabra from there. I'll play with it and report back on whether it'll work like I wanted above.
Meanwhile, I didn't realize until looking more closely that most of them were fake. I've been burned by counterfeits before, and sure enough, there are a ton of them on fleaBay. I made this graphic to demonstrate:
Aside from the logos, they look identical. Price is an obvious warning, but not always. Location is another: I'm wary of shipping from Hong Kong. OTOH, just because it says Jabra doesn't mean it's real... the Motorola H700 is another example where it's nearly impossible to tell them apart online.
Unfortunately, even with VeRO and the rules against keyword spamming, this junk can be found all over eBay.

In theory, if it's able to connect to one phone's A2DP, it should connect to any. But I wonder if it has something to do with the ROM you're running?
I've noticed the G1 needs some finesse when connecting and pairing BT. Also, there are different steps you can take that all arrive at the same result (ergo, lots of trial and error).
Anyway. Now that I have the Jabra, my next problem is keeping A2DP, HSP and AVRCP separate... more on that soon.

Here is whats interesting; I have tried the BT3030 with several ROMS and I get the same results (I even tried it on stock and then rooted). When paired placing and receiving calls work fine. The problem arises when you try to listen to music, the sound skips constantly and I haven't figured a way to fix this permanently. Do you experience this problem (skipping sound)?

It's strange that it works with one phone and not another. But if it really is a counterfeit, all bets are off -- you may never figure it out.

I got 3 knockoff bt3030s back in october (from dinodirect... shady) at $15/ea it was an ok price...
I too have the skipping problems on my Droid, but I just discovered how to fix them. Go into bluetooth settings, long-press the jabra bt3030 device, select options, and deselect phone audio and reconnect the device. Now, no more skips.
I don't know if it's the bt3030's fault, I think it might be an android bug where audio gets routed over phone audio instead of a2dp. This is evidenced by the skipping audio--headset audio only has something like 8khz of bandwidth.
It kind of sucks that phone audio has to be disabled, but in all seriousness, I use the bt3030 for a2dp far more than phone calls, if I need to make a phone call over the bt3030, I'll reconnect the phone audio and disconnect it when I'm done.
Don't know if anyone still cares, but for the record, and for searchers, there are these options:
http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/217/sfID2/341/productID/1937
http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/217/sfID2/219/productID/1938
Both of these are very expensive though as they are part of large packages for cars. YMMV.

[Q] Bluetooth and GPS

I haven't seen a firm answer yet, so question. Is activating bluetooth/gps a hardware mod, software/rom, or not possible on NT?
Sent from my spoofed galaxy nexus via tapatalk.
Nobody knows for sure yet because it hasn't yet been done and published. In theory bluetooth can be activated by software though. I'd venture to guess the same is true for GPS.

Both could potentially be "activated", because the chip does support it... but that doesn't mean that it will be worth anything. The GPS almost certainly does not have an antenna on it, and the BT range will likely be crap like on the NookColor for the same reason (no antenna.)
So, the GPS even if we get it working, will still be useless for its intended purpose, while the BT might be able to get working for a very-short-range. (2~3 feet?)

I would venture that when the bluetooth is enabled, we'd be able to use the fm radio app cause it uses the headphone cable as an antenna. But isn't 2-3 feet ok for a bluetooth ear piece so you can skype or googletalk with it?

There is only three ways to know.
1. Build a custom rom that supports GPS and Bluetooth, then try it out.
2. Wait till the devs build you a custom rom, and find out.
3. Consult your crystal ball. =]
Heck,
the only reason why I want bluetooth enabled is do I can use a bluetooth keyboard. (which I know they where able to do with the Nook Color)
I want to use my ps3 controller to play emulators like I do with my phone. It would be such a better experience on the 7" then on my Epic 4G.

Sadly there is just no way to know until an alpha of CM9 is out for the NT. They are very close, so it shouldn't be long now. Once that's done, we will have have facts instead of speculation.
I want to build a bluetooth airplane and control it with my NT of doom!!!!!!!
Thanks all for the responses. I personally want to see if we could use pre-cached google maps and use the NT as for some low level gps navigation without a tether to a smartphone.

would love to se BT work, I have two of these: "pharos-pocket-gps-navigator: and it would be great for the vehicle. Sorry, new to this forum and it will not let me post links.

Looking for keyboard and mouse dock

I'm looking for a dock for my Optimus G that will allow me to hook up a keyboard and mouse or at least just a keyboard to it. Does anyone know of a dock like this or if it is even possible for the Optimus G? I know there is a dock like this for the Note 2 but its over $100 and that is a lot to throw away if it doesn't work. If anyone has some insight let me know.
Use an MHL adapter
You can use any blue tooth mouse and keyboard. Try a blue tooth keyboard with a track pad. And use any MHL cable to display the content onto a screen.

Do you know also if there is a way to have the phone connected to a laptop and almost work like a vm of the phone on the desktop where you could have it in its own window and run everything like email and texting off of it through the computer? I tried googling and researching this on my own but didn't come up with much. It may be because i don't know the right terminology to look for.

LG makes a program called On Screen Phone that will allow you to see everything you're doing on your phone in real-time as well as use your mouse to control it. There will be a bit of lag, but I think it works well enough. Apparently some phones can do this over WiFi, but ours only has the option to do it over usb. I only played with it some this past weekend, so others may know more about it.

Cool! Thanks for that. I just tried it and it seems to work nearly as well as the USB (at least in my few minutes of playing with it). Is there a way to get sound to work through the PC for video playback?
yeah for the most part it works without issue, other times can't seem to get it to connect by Wi-Fi for the life of me, USB always works tho... I briefly had the same thought as far as audio output but due to the varying delay between device and monitor the mouths would never match even if you delayed the audio it'd need constant adjustments because the video delay varies in light of that mhl would be the way to go for audio/ video or miracast but good luck with that

I found this while looking yesterday and figured others may be interested in as well. The only problem I've found is that there is no ringtone or alert for new text messages other than the name of the tab changing in the browser to alert you. Other than that it works pretty well. Airdroid. Thanks for the suggestions guys, appreciate it.
