So I put Cyanogen 7 on my Galaxy S II. My tap-to-focus doesn't work in the camera though. I tried looking through the settings but can't fix it. The camera focuses only after I press the button to take the picture. Please help.
Because CM7 is AOSP derived, to the best of my knowledge, AOSP doesn't have that feature. Features like that are incorporated.
I had a samsung moment from sprint that was "vanilla android" and it couldnt do it either so im basing my assumptions off that.
Somebody please correct me if im wrong

wrong it is in the camera settings under focus type i believe and select touch
Nick - it doesn't have a touch option in the settings under focus mode.
Hit the menu button and there is an advanced options menu. You can select pre focus or long press focus

I just looked as I'm on cm7 at the moment and I found it in seconds
Sent from my super sweet Galaxy SII
I was also able to find it under the camera settings>focus>touch

I don't have that option. Mine only shows Auto, macro, off, fixed, facedetect.
Anyone know what the problem could be?

Are you using the onscreen menu button or the capacitive one?
Use the button left capacitive menu button to access the advanced options menu

I went to advanced settings as well and the only two focus options it gives me is Pre Focus and Long Focus, neither of those solves the issue.
The only way I kinda solved the issue is i downloaded the MIUI camera. That lets me tap-to-focus but I don't like the layout of it. I want the camera app that is given in CM 7 to work right.

Open the camera,
Choose the on-screen options button (not the capacitive button)
Under Focus Mode the options are:
Auto
Macro
Off
Touch
Fixed
Facedetect
Touch works fine for me on the latest CM7 build.

Please see a few posts above. I don't have touch as an option. I tried that method already.
I think some screen shots are going to be needed to make sure there's no confusion. Please post screen shots while in the camera app showing your available options.

Ok here are some pictures of the settings.
1st picture shows the on-screen settings and the 2nd picture shows the advanced settings which was accessed by the menu soft-key.

Looks like it may need a reflash of cm7 then. Not sure what else it could be.

agreed... i think he changed the APK out, or perhaps he is using the old RC1 CM7 version...
Ok well I re-flashed CM 7.1 from the Cyanogen website, the most up-to-date ROM and the camera still won't tap-to-focus and doesn't give me the option in the settings. If someone has any idea what it could be I would be pretty happy...it's frustrating.

just curious, but what did you do?
step by step, including links to the files you downloaded.
did you verify the checksum?
Hey guy, I am hoping someone can help me with this because it's starting to get really frustrating. My G3 is very laggy. When I am texting, it will freeze for a few moments and then catch up, sometimes missing some letters that I have typed so I have to redo it. It lags with playing games, or pressing the on-screen back button... there is a very noticeable lag.. is there any way to fix this at all?

There is no dial code for Sprint G3 as far as I know.
you have to use shortcut master in order to access the rest of the hidden menu settings such as Thermal dae

Under developer options you can select whether you want to use dalvik (ODEX) or ART (precompiled apps).
But: have you tried to remove new apps you had installed? Maybe they are causing your problem.

Settings/developer options; probably you don't have this menu item
Try to install osmonitor from market, and turn on "show cpu usage"
Just to check if nothing runs in the background.
Developer options menu is unlocked by doing the following...
Go to General tab (or section if you're not in tabbed mode)
Select 'About Phone'
Select 'Software information'
Tab 'Build number' (KVT49L.LS990ZV4) 7 times - you'll see a countdown pop-up after the first few taps
You have now unlocked Developer options menu under General tab (or section)
I ended up calling Sprint and had them reset the services and reactivate the phone. After this and updating PRL and Profile, it is running smooth as butter.
So sorry if this has already been discussed but when I take a screenshot on my phone, whether it be pressing power and volume at the same time, or using the other 2 options to take a screen shot, I don't get that thumbnail image where you can select options to edit the picture, scrolling screenshot, etc.
I've searched everywhere for options, but can't find any answers online.
I see the thumbnail pop-up for literally a split second where no human can possibly select an option. The only other photo app I have installed on my phone is QuickPic but I don't think that's causing it.
Can anyone help me with this issue? The phone is only 3 weeks old and pretty stock in terms of apps on it. I keep everything very simple. Non-root of course, no mods whatsoever.
thank you in advance!

It got broken 2 updates ago for me. Broke the floating bar I was using as well. I'm using an alternate until they fix their broken updates or I just get sick of all these bugs
Did you turn your animations all the way off. If so you won't see the thumbnail with the options.

Since when? I've had them off on every phone for as long as I can remember. Always worked until the June 1st security patch, then was not fixed with July 1st. And they still work on my G8

Pretty much as far as I can remember since there has been options added and a window popup made rather than just a notification for a screen shot. AOSP ROMs that I have developed for call for a window animation value, and unless it is set for a hard coded value, it will default to what the system window animation value is.

My issue is the screenshot will save, the SS will show in the notification pull down, but the edit option doesn't do anything anymore. Only share and delete work from the pull down. This is since the June 1 security patch. That patch also broke my floating bar for screenshots, screen recording, crop etc. I am having to use a 3rd party floating bar that constantly turns itself off when the phone goes in deep sleep. Even have the battery saving turned off for it. Why would they break such an important feature.

Hm, that I am not sure as my edit button for a screenshot from the notification works fine. Also all my options in floating bar are working fine. If you can get me a logcat of when you select the edit option and may be able to tell you why.

The phone is working perfectly fine. But one glitch is that when i try and enable ONE HANDED MODE it doesnt work, when i do the swipe for that i get the haptic feedback but the screen doesnt come down as it should be.
i did full hardware test all sensors are working fine...
I have developer mode on.
any other settings might be conflicting ?
Thank for your help.

When I swipe right to left and hold, it is working.
Hope you are doing the same.
Also deactivate gestures navigation and check if it works.

1. i enabled the one handed mode.
2. i opened kaspersky antivirus app
3. i guess i swiped from bottom of the screen upwards(not intentionally) and voila it asked if i want to allow the app to go full screen on which i clicked ok. than bang! it started working...

it seems the problem is in the app fullscreen mode setting which might be conflicting with one handed mode setting, i think we should tweak it once or twice to resolve the conflict there.

Try to disable all apps using accessibility permission. I don't know which one so you try them all. This not only make one handed mode unusable, it also makes url bar on chrome stop auto hiding
It's quite annoying. I cannot access the menu bar anymore. Looks like the first cm of the screen cannot be accessed.
If I go to settings, I can use it. In other apps, such as WhatsApp it's not accessible. It happened after the restart when it updated Android to v12.
Does anybody know a workaround?
To be more precise, the upper part of the screen can't be accessed. If I rotate the screen into landscape mode, it's fine. I can also not click buttons or text on the upper screen area. It's about 1 cm from the top. Everything else from down there works.
And as I said in my original post. If I open an app, the upper screen area works as well, so it's not a hardware issue.

Do you use an app like Energy Bar? I reset my phone for the same issue and whe reinstalling each app I found it was Energy Bar causing the issue, I guess because it requests screen overlay permissions?
