hi there i've got an old Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic Tablet, originally ran Windows 2000 & can handle XP (albeit slowly) .. Its got a Pentium III and 512MB Ram
was just wondering if is possible to run android on this and bring back some life to it....
any help would be appreciated ... thanks
maybe you would rather try meego or just plain linux?
i'll give MeeGo a go haven't tried that before, thanks. tried ubuntu already but it wouldn't work, supposedly an earlier version of SUSE might work but i'd prefer something a bit more modern and android if at all possible....
Your best bet would be Windows 8, try installing the developer version and see.
well windows 8 would definitely not work, we're talking about a 10 year old tablet here...

On a P3? wtf?
Hi All,
I am too Confused,
I am not sure which is better : Samsung 10.1 or viewpad with two OS : android and win 7.
I am not sure how the touch works with viewsonic?
Can any one please let me know which is better overall?
The issue is, I am afraid of viewsonic in the touching screen speed, The processor speed, the screen resolution, the overall performance, the available apps, games.
The main thing that is making me thinking of viewsonic is the WIN 7 thing,Which will help me open my work application on it like the notebook, but I am afraid of the above concerns.
Can you judge on that?
Thanks,
Wael
Im not TOOOOO sure on the comparrision..but i do know GTab has Tegra 2 Dual Core...which is the best out there now. The BIG Tablets have this. So for speed..its there.
Touch Screen is Capacitive....which is very good. It just ships new with the TanNTap thing. Which sucks. But when you load one of the ROMs on it...its wayyy up there with the good Tablets. At least they say this on the net.
This probably isn't the best place to ask the question since this is gTablet forum & not a Viewpad 10 forum.
The dual boot Viewpad 10 is totally different from our gTablet. The only similarity is that they are both sold by Viewsonic. Viewpad has an Intel Atom(x86) processor (that's how it can run Win7) while the gTab has an Nvidia Tegra 2 (Arm) processor. Viewpad is running Android 2.2 X86 (android ported to run on Intel processors) while gTab is running Android native. Viewpad has 2G of DDR3 memory, gTab has 512M DDR2. Viewpad has either 16 or 32G SSD (solid state drive), gTab has a 16G emmc (embedded multimedia card).
While there may be a few users who have used a dual boot Viewpad, probably the vast majority here have not (as I have not).
I must have missed that. Thought he typed GTab. Yea..since it was a GTab thread i assumed that. Missed the Viewpad word he typed.
Thank you
Thanks for your answers. Yes, I am talking about the viewpad 10 and not the Gtab.
Do you think that no one tested it because it's not good?
Should I buy Samsung 10 or viewpad 10?
I was curious if anyone had any idea if the Prime would be able to run Win RT when released. I think it would be awesome to have access to both systems on this hardware. Hey the Asus Tablet 600 has a Tegra 3 also.
Given how the Prime struggles to run Android properly, I wouldn't place much hope on it. Certainly Asus wouldn't be supporting it. They're too busy as it is trying to fix up the Android experience.
Maybe the XDA devs will come up with something...

From what I understand, the Asus Tablet 600 basically a Transformer Prime, except it has double the RAM. So, I'm certain it would run on our TF201s, but the problem is Win RT is only available installed on new devices. You won't be able to buy a disc or download it from MS like Win 7 or W8. If someone were to somehow extract the image from a device, say the 600, I'm sure it would be more likely than not that it would run on our tabs.
I'm also hoping for this to happen. Dual boot would be sick, but I might even replace Android with WinRT if I had to. I'd probably go back and fourth between OSes if it weren't too complicated.
Fingers crossed
from what i have read, windows rt would require a different bootloader.
so there is basically no chance it would come to the tf201
suface will get out in this month.
is it possible to flash the win rt rom
on tf201? i know it need time for development .
i just wanna know the possibility.
any professor could answer me?

I think Windows 8 is programmed to run off Nvidia Tegra 3, hopefully someone will figure it out. I'd jizz in my pants for Windows 8 on my Prime as an option. I see that the Windows 8 tablets have 2 gigs of ram, opposed to the 1gig in the Android tablets.

We can hope but I have already read how windows 8 RT requires "Secureboot" or it will not load. So to get it to work would mean some MAJOR hacking. Other than ROM development in the dev forum I don't much else happening.

I think Secureboot has already been worked around. I was reading a few articles about it a while ago.
I found this also :

I think you miss the point of the aticle. It doesnt circumvent secure boot, rather allow users to input their own signature keys so they can control whatever is run on their box.
Secondly, a transformer prime doesnt have secureboot on it to begin booting the OS.
Don't misunderstand me here either, while I think it highly unlikely I would LOVE to have the option to put Win 8 on my Prime.
I see what you're saying now. I can see that Secureboot being circumvented.
hello!
Can anyone figure out how to dual boot this tablet please? "ASUS Transformer Book T100TA-C1-GR"
it has 8.1 windows, I would like to dual boot it to android also Asus said that it does not support it but I know that their are many things out there that manufacturers say that it can't be done, but in fact many of those are possible.
I believe they just don't want people to do this so they would buy their new product coming out with dual boot!
thanks
