EasyMote - Looking for this application, please help! - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Hi!
I'm looking desperately for a WindowsMobile 6.x application called EasyMote, that makes me able to control my HTPC from my WinMobile based phone. I can not locate the cab file needed for the WinMobile install, and the homepage is of no help at all. Windows Marketplace no longer supports WinMo 6.x OS apps, and I did already wrote several emails to the developers of the software but no response. I guess the site is no longer maintained at all.
I'm sure some of you has the required files (especially the cab file is needed) and can help me to get it. It would be so important!
Many thanks and looking forward to your help how could I obtain this software!
Thanks!

Running Office Mobile on a StarTrek having the original WM5 OS

Dear All,
after having tested the various WM6 solutions provided by Erofich (who did a great job, chapeau!), I lastly decided to revert to the original WM5 OS, since I prefer to operate my StarTrek mobile in my mother tongue, which is German.
However, what I would like to have anyway, is the current version of Office Mobile, since DocumentsToGo has still problems with the docx-files from Word, even if its vendors are praising their product as being "100% compatible" with MS Office 2007 - nothing but wishful thinking.
For these reasons, I would like to have Office Mobile, since, even if it may suffer from various limitations, it is at least compatible with files created by means of the desktop version of MS Office.
I have started several attempts to install Office Mobile 6.1 on my StarTrek, and I lastly succeeded, but, when I try to run e.g. Word Mobile, I get an error message, which reads like this: "cannot find pword.exe; make sure that all necessary libraries are present."
Needless to say that pword.exe is on the right place and that the relevant values (e.g. paths) in the registry appear to be ok.
I have also installed .net on my mobile, which took me more that 90% of the remaining free memory (what a horror!), but it didn't help either.
So, if somebody has a suggestion - all comments are welcome!
Thanks in advance,
The Wolf
You can try this...
Well, the problem I had before was I used the upgrade .msi files which naturally required the original version or version 6. I then downloaded a .cab file which showed the error that you had. This is what I did, before, when I was still using WM5. I installed the 6.1 version which had support for docx, as sed I had the same problem that you did, then I installed the .msi upgrade version. What it did was it repaired my previous installation.
I hope this helps you. It worked for me. Good luck.

I'm sorry if I can't upload the files, it seems that I may have lost it...
Hi Pampooh,
I was able to successfully repeat this under WM6 - here, it works indeed.
But I still fail to get Office 6.1 onto my StarTrek under WM5.
Thanks a lot anyway.

New to Windows Mobile

Let's pretend I'm new to windows mobile. (I am). Can anyone tell me HOW I get to these HKEY directories that everything is edited in. If anyone could give me a step-by-step instruction on how to install or modify anything at all in the phone, I would greatly appreciate it.
Please start the steps right after the 'Turn on phone' step, as I am fairly confident I have that under control. Every time I've asked this question on other forums I just get links to different forums with no helpful information below a certain level of expertise. I have never coded or done anything other than drag and drop folders, etc so a dumbed down version of how to start and I can learn from there. Anything! PLEASE!!! I hate having this amazing machine and not being able to utilize it.
oh, Touch Pro, sprint
First you need to install a registry editor. The two most used are PHM (free http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/) or Resco Explorer (paid http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/). I prefer Resco, but everyone has their own pref.
And installation, you fire it up and simply navigate it to your registry. Pretty straightforward.
I downloaded the free one but it isn't showing up in my phone. I navigated to its folder on my pc and everything seems to be zipped. when I unzip the file extensions are *.001 and I can't open or access them. am I doing something wrong ?
also, if anyone can explain to me how to install .net framework ?

i assume you need the new 3.5 .net compact framework.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en
You simply download and install the file on your computer (not your mobile device). This file will install the framework on your computer and will activate the add/remove programs on the sync center, so the next time you connect your touch pro it will ask to install the program. Then you just follow any instructions displayed on your touch pro for final installation and you're set to go!
here's on .Net http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=470
It has an extra app to choose a default .Net.
There's also a Tips and Tricks section and a walk through for TouchFlo3D at fuzemobility.com that you may want to try.
I can relate to this problem.

I have a Alltel HTC Touch Pro. The software that came with it does not work with Vista. I googled active sync for Vista, I got links to Windows Mobile Device Center. I installed that onto my desktop. It syncs my phone to my desktop, but only shows my device memory and the storage card. I have installed downloaded and installed net.frame. When I downloaded Advanced Config Tool and draged and drop (also copied & pasted) into the device memory and tried to click the cab. file it only shows that it will go to the c: drive on my desktop. I do not see anything showing for the windows on my device. Hopefully someone can post some useful infomation about this. Yes I did use search, that lead me here. There are lots of complete noobs. Before we can add useful information for others. ( like showing off the really cool function of these new phones we have to be able to use them ourselves. Thanks for any help.
Here's some tips that might help you:
When plugging your Touch Pro into your PC via USB, you should be prompted on the Touch Pro whether you want to connect as "ActiveSync" or "Disk Drive". You should click "ActiveSync" for installing applications.
If you are using your desktop PC and download an application for your Touch Pro, it will typically be .exe or .cab. The .exe files are intended to run on your desktop PC first, and will then trigger an installation to your Touch Pro through ActiveSync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista).
If the file is a .cab, it is intended to run on your Touch Pro directly and will install the program. To move a .cab to your Touch Pro, you use the explore feature in ActiveSync (or similar feature in Mobile Device Center), and drag and drop. (Alternatively, you can download .cab files directly onto your phone from the source website using the Opera web browser). Once the .cab is on your Touch Pro, you use the file explorer program on your phone to naviagte to the file and then execute it.
When you install programs onto your TouchPro, a dialogue appears on the phone to walk you through the installation. To save your phone's shared memory, you can install programs to your memory card. Unfortunately, some applications work best when installed onto the phone versus installing them onto the memory card.
Hope that helps
Thank you very much for your reply. I'll give this another try. I had the Alltel HTV Touch Flo awhile back and was running XP on the desktop. If I remember correctly, I saw my device in the tree layout with the software running XP. I gave the Touch Flo to a family member and got a BlackBerry Curve. Wanted to go back to a windows platform for the versitilty of programs. I know everything has a learning curve to it. With lots of reading and study, trial and error, and help from generous people here. Noobs like myself can get a lot more use and enjoyment from their devices. Each new version that comes out is getting faster, more powerful, and has more features. Others see these things that we have and want one. It would be helpful if we could help them to see all the possibilities that are there. The I Phone gets a lot of attention with commercials and has opened up for new apps being developed. There are as many, if not more apps for widows. We just have to learn to implement them with our device. I know I did not start this thread, but others can see the original posters title and understand their, and my question. Thanks again to the reply, and to anyone else who comes up with more help for the noobs.

Save CABs from MarketPlace...

Hello all,
I have found WORKING little app to save CABs from MarketPlace. You can download the app here:
http://blog.idlezone.org/post/2010/01/11/Windows-Mobile-MarketPlace-:-choose-where-to-install
(use fixed version posted in the comments of the article: http://blog.idlezone.org/public/DarkApps/DarkCABCatcherInstaller_quickfix.CAB)
Awsome, thanks for posting ! =d
Thank you So So So Much
Will
Works it also for paid apps?
doesnt work for me.
Awsome, How do you work this thing.
When I run DarkCABCatcher, I have set fom folder to \.\Application Data\Volatile to \.\My Documents.
The DarkCABCatcher application shows the following:
MKP5C5036.cab OK!
MKP5C5036.cab installed.
MKP5C5036.cab started.
MKP5C5036.cab copy Ok.
When I look in my \.\My Documents folder there is no .cab file collected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Richard
Thanks !
I never used MarketPlace yet, but just in case, I'll keep that trick handy and try it.
I don't understand their position on "piracy", since I generally only use free software...
When it's not free, I buy the licenses, but since I'm flashing a lot these months, I really doubt MarketPlace would recognize my device next time I log on, so this trick may be unvaluable... Just to keep access to what I had legally bought.
Thanks for this, but unfortunately on cooked WM6.5 portuguese ROM it doesn't work. I confirmed that I have NetFW3.5 installed so I don't know what's wrong:
What a pity - don´t work at all on T-Mobile Vario V (HTC TouchPro2) with Windows Mobile 6.5.
Sometimes it write the cab is copied - but can´t find it in the destination folder.
Sometimes it just don´t show anything.

Cool app, didn't work
The critical thing this app shows is where the temporary CAB files are downloaded when installing from the Marketplace app.
Just open this folder in Windows Explorer while the phone is connected to your device. You have to turn on "view hidden and system folders" to see the folder on your phone.
Wait and watch the folder during the install. It will create a CAB file, which will get an icon as soon as the file is finished writing to the device. Quickly copy the file off the phone onto your computer.
(I have installed z-zip and associated CAB files with the program, which is why I get a nice icon as soon as the download has finished.)

MyMobiler CAB

I created a cab for the files on the phone that MyMobiler needs. This is just remote.exe(the copy for winmo5/6), and a start menu icon for it. None of the files needed on-PC are included here. This is for version 1.25
It sounds like the MyMobiler license allows redistribution, as long as the license file is avail with it, so I've attached that too.
Hope someone finds this useful!

Thanks
Thanks for this. Now I can add this to the list of cabs auto-installed with a new rom.
thank you.

[Q] HTC Win 6.5 Won't read HTM files

Help needed please. We recieve HTM files via email from SAP. We are able to view these files on other devices (eg Iphone) but not on any of our HTC device. We have an error of "unknown file type". How can we set / amend the phone to open these files. This is a very important issue for us as we are just about to choose between HTC or A.N Other phone for a rollout of new devices.
Thanks in advance
With something like SKTools or Total Commander it's pretty simple. SKTools is a paid app and probably no longer available, But Total Commander is freeware for PocketPC/Windows Mobile, I believe. You can confirm that, and get it here
On another note, how are you going to roll out new HTC devices which run WM6.5. You do know that the 6.x family is no longer supported by anyone, including MS, right? Because M$ pulled the plug on C++ and made C# the only language supported on the Windows Phone platform, none of the 6.x apps will run on the new devices.
