My dock arrived a little while ago, so I charged it and then connected to the tablet. It showed that an update was available so I installed the update.
While the mousepad works and it is currently charging the tablet ... none of the keys seem to work.
Any idea what could be wrong? Is mine defective or is there a simple configuration I'm not aware of? Just in case I disabled Thumb Keyboard and I have the Asus keyboard selected (Use physical keyboard is set to ON as well).
Pull tablet out of dock.
Put tablet back in dock.
Fixed?
Unfortunately no. Same situation. Cursor and multi-touch work, but no keys.
Should I assume no one has seen this issue?
try lock key
In the upper right? Doesn't appear to do anything

Did you try the keyboard prior to the update, or is this a new problem post update?

Unfortunately I didn't try it prior to the update since the notification appeared basically right away.
At that point I had only used the pad to move the cursor around. So it is possible the keys never worked, but I suppose it is also possible they worked pre-update.
dock problems of my own
I got the transformer about a little less than a week ago, installed the update, everything was fine. today i got the dock, it seemed to work, saw the firmware update, clicked to update, "Update Failed." Tried again, again failed. Now the transformer doesn't even recognized that its connected. No matter what I do, it won't be recognized... what should i do?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
yesterday, I bought my TF with keyboard. After playing a while, I decided to root them. After succesfully rooting process I installed custom ROM (3.1 from moDaCo page) . It was all the time inserted into dock station but for customising I pull it out. When I insert TF to dock the keyboard stops response. TouchScreen was active. I saw small icon with "!" that update for dock station failed. I re-run the update process (using touch navigation) but it won't progress at all (still 0). Then I reboot TF, and try to start update again. With success. Now all is working perfectly.
Maybe this description helps you somehow.
good luck.
Keyboard not working
I am now experiencing the original issue from this thread. I can not find any other threads describing this exact issue.
Here is the message that I sent Asus support. No reply yet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keyboard on my docking station stopped working. no errors it just stops. Battery still charges the tablet....Touchpad still works (and buttons)....closing and opening the tablet still shuts off and turns on screen.
No keys work. If I disable the keyboard through the android interface (Use Physical Keyboard = Off) the onscreen keyboard works fine (Current Keyboard is set to ASUS Keyboard).
I have tried
multiple apps
rebooting
undocking and redocking
hitting every key one at a time
hitting every key at the same time
closing the tablet and reopening it
device has not taking any shocks
battery is full
no contact with water
Last time I touched it it worked. it just stopped working.
Here is some additional information that I have learned.
I have tried a second keyboard dock and it does not work either.
I have done a restore to factory state with no change.
Tablet: B50 32gb Not Rooted and current on all asus updates.
Keyboard: B60 no updates available from asus.
I have the same issue
First, put your keyboard on another tablet and make sure the keyboard works. If the keyboard fails on two tablets the keyboard ribbon tape in the dock may be bad, e.g. RMA.
Then, two steps that might work:
(1) reapply the latest update via manual update
(2) factory reset
Might try in any order:
1 & 2
2 & 1
others.
Good luck.

As i stated above i tried two docks and both experienced the issue.
Mine started while the dock was plugged in so a damaged port is unlikely.
As stated above a factory reset has already been done.
I downloaded the firmware updater from the asus ftp site and extracted the asus folder to /microSD with no effect. I can't get a manual update to run. What might i be doing wrong.
I confirmed that the downloaded firmware and current firmware are US
I Confirmed that the zip file is in /asus/update

Might check:
download file corruption
file name extension .zip or .ZIP ?
various folder locations, e.g. root folder microsd vs update
directory or filename might be case sensitive?
I searched for instructions from a couple threads and the ASUS pdf and tried a few things before it worked for me. I do not remember exactly which worked, sorry.
Best wishes and good luck!
This worked for me:
1.Make it so your screen is set to "NEVER" turn off. Put max brightness, maybe play a game or something. Let your battery die. (without the dock)
2.Charge your pad without the battery until it's 100% full. Test to see if it is working. It should be but no guarantees.
3. If you have a dock, charge it as well. You should be able to use your keyboard and the battery life should be visible.
mine has been fine. Not sure if step 1 is needed. If mine stops working again I'll try to reply here.

I put screen to Never Turn off, max brightness, and played a game until the battery completly died.
I charged my pad with out the keyboard to 100%.
No effect.
I'm charging the keyboard right now.
Battery life has always been visible for me.
Well I finally got ahold of ASUS Support. They are having me RMA both my tablet and keyboard (not sure why the keyboard is being RMA'd since it works fine on my friends tablet) I hope I don't get a bad unit back as my current unit has minimal light bleed (not even noticable outside the boot screen) no creaking and my keyboard is a B60 so no issue with battery drain.
I had this issue but fixed it doing what I said. It hasn't come back for days! Also installed different roms and whatnot.
Hi there!
First time I need to make a topic, as I don't find the answer anywhere..
Had my Touchpad since about two weeks.
However the accelerometer has not functioned at all since I got it.
First thing to check is the auto rotation lock -> it's turned off
Second thing I did was download a sensor visualizer app -> Seismograph.. This shows very weird results for the x-axis (see attached file), fyi, the Y and Z-axis functioned as expected..
Then the third thing I tried, Need For Speed Hot Persuit... A game that uses the X-axis accelerometer (right!?)
This works brilliant!
Other things I have done to troubleshoot this:
Restart the device.
Full reset the device.
Run HP doctor.
All have failed in resolving my problem.
As I've bought the touchpad from a french webstore (fnac.com), HP Netherlands (where I'm from) tells me I need to get back to them for a solution, as they don't offer worldwide repair (unlike ASUS for example).
Fnac.com has not answered to my request to exchange the product (2 days after I got it). And actually I just want to solve it myself if possible, bought it for fun anyways (and reading of course xD)
Any ideas how I can make the OS recognize the accelerometer?
Last thing, the auto rotation functions in the following way: Tablet is stuck in landscape, I turn to portrait, screen turns as well, but within the second the tablet is back in landscape. This behavior can be read from the seismograph screenshot.
Thanks!
Hello
I just started a new thread for a different accelerometer problem (it is just dead)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284760
Was wondering how you ended up fixing your problem.
thanks
Just wanted to ask you the same question...
I still have the same problem. Need to contact Fnac.fr, but my french sucks and my time is scarce. So have been postponing this. My unit actually came DOA.. however Fnac didn't respond to my request, and has now asked me to call them.. sucky service
You have no solution I guess?
Well this is odd..
Out of nothing the auto rotate function is working since today.. I noticed it while reading a PDF in Android. Booting back to WebOS didn't make a difference, the sensor is working again
I've got no clue what did the trick.. I have not updated the kernel or something like that lately.
I wonder if the sensor was kicked back into action by brute force (for instance my cat jumping on the tablet..)
Anyway, problem soved for now =D
First post.
My wifes Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE from Rogers (i727R) which came with 2.3.5 got some water spilled on it. After letting it dry out the phone works fine but the camera just gives a "camera failed" error and the screen auto rotate doenst work at all in any app.
I got the camera working for a bit after doing a factory reset but but it stopped again a few days later. This made me think it was a software issue so I rooted the phone and tried flashing the stock rom back on using Odin which did not help either issue. To rule out that it is corrupted software, is there anything else I should try? New kernel?
When I enter *#0*# and go into the sensor test area, the accelerometer and magnetic sensors do not seem to be working. Gyroscope is working.
If more info is needed, let me know.
Thanks
Use this app to test if they are working: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bartat.android.elixir&hl=en.
Thanks for the help. I installed elixer and looks like the accelerometer, gravity, linear acceleration, magnetic field, orientation and rotation vector sensors are not working.

So that means it's a hardware problem. You'll have to carry it back under warranty (hopefully you have one).
That brings me to my next question.
I rooted and flashed the stock rom on with Odin, hoping that would fix it since the issue was initially fixed with a factory reset. Thought maybe a driver or something got corrupted.
From browsing the forums, it appears there is no way to reset the flash counter yet. Is that correct? If so, would it be worth waiting a while in hopes a fix comes out to reset the counter?

Only a few devices are able to reset the flash counter (so far). You could try flashing a custom rom and see what happens.
NB.: Even if you could reset the counter, that wouldn't really benefit you in this case.
Hi all,
Firstly can I say thankyou to all of you at these forums, I've been a lurker for a while, waiting for my Prime to arrive, and I'm very grateful for all your insights!
I have now recieved it and seem to avoided most of the well-documented problems on here, but seem to have managed a new one (at least i couldn't find a similar one through searching).
So I updated the Prime with the new firmware and it all seemed to go well. After a while the notification popped up to do the camera firmware (as I had been expecting from these threads). I set it going, and after a short while it said it was complete. The next time I powered on however, the notification to update the camera firmware was back, so I did it again (thinking it must be additional one). But it keeps doing the same thing - saying it's successful, only to re-appear after a re-start.
My current versions are
Build - 8.8.3.33 (which i know is what it should be)
Camera - 0xFFFFFFFF (which I know is wrong!)
Anyone else had a similar problem? Or any ideas?
I have no idea if it's possible, but I am also wondering whether this is what's causing my auto-rotate not to work. Just to confirm, I have the auto-rotate set on, and the gyroscope doesn't seem to be working for anything else (tried it on riptide demo)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
you should try reflashing .33 from the ASUS hosted file...i think there are a few threads about where to get it.

Mine is completely borked. After installing ICS I got a notification for a camera firmware update. The update failed several times, and now when I launch the camera app it says it won't work without updated firmware...
EDIT: I rebooted and as soon as it started up it bugged me to install the camera update again. I made sure the screen stayed on while it updated this time and things seem to have worked out. Camera is working just fine!
Hi all,
This is my first thread... I've looked every forum, every existing thread looking for an explanation / solution, with no luck at all... I hope somebody has experienced this with its prime and found a solution, because I'm thinking in RMA it...
The thing is that my sensors stopped working! No accelerometer, no magnetometer. The screen rotates itself to portrait mode when an app asks for it, but it stays that way when exiting the app. I have to go to Settings -> Display to uncheck and check Autorotation to go back to landscape mode. This is annoying! I installed an app called Elixir 2 and in the sensors page only the microphone is listed as present. Every other sensor is displayed as not present.
I noticed it two weeks ago, but I wanted to look for a solution instead of getting it replaced. I think it came with a .15 and it was updated to .21 in the first connection to Internet. I waited for the .28 to be released just in case it fixed the problem, but it did nothing, still has the problem.
By the way, I tried a cold boot and a factory reset... still nothing.
If I can have any word from anyone I will be pleased!
Thank you!
PS: forgive my english, I'm from Spain
Get the app called elixir2. its free. Kirk show u detailed info on everything, including sensors. itll show real time info on them. allows u to cut them off n on or reset them. it might help.

Well, that's exactly what I did! I said it before It just shows an X beside every sensor and under them it says something like "not present" (I don't have the Prime here right now). In that sensors page the only one that is shown as working is the microphone.
Any idea?
Thank you anyway!

Here's a snapshot of the Elixir2 sensors' page.
Hi, I cannot suggest anything new to try.
Today I noticed some of my sensors were not working, tried playing Riptide and found I could not turn. Also tried a level app and found that the orientation was not being detected. My problem was fixed by powering off then turning on again. I did not try elixir2 before the power off, therefore could not say if my prime was in a similar state.
Good luck in getting your prime going again.
Cheers stv

Well, at least someone experienced the same... even with a reset I can't make it work. Is there any "ultra-reset" I can do?
Before .28 I get the same issue.
Sensor can restart after a reboot or a cold start, but after I plug on the dock or after a deep sleep, the sensor stop.
Sometime, after a restart the sensor was not recognized. I use elixir also to check.
Now with .28, the sensor work well.

Did you update to .28 over wifi or using a microSD?
Thank you!
Update done through Microsd.
I have tweaked buil.prop on .21 and result Fota didn't work.
Think also to make a cold reboot and clear cache of all application (can be done with elixir).

demandrin - off topic, do you know where I may be able to get the circiut board that has the microsd slot and the touch screen sensor connectors. I accidentally damaged the connectors and now I can only use the tablet with the keyboard dock as a mini laptop. I emailed Asus but they would not sell me the part. I wonder if Gary would be nice enough to sell me the part.
Is HP the only company that sells parts to customers (I love HP for that reason LOL!!)

An update with my problem: I finally installed the .28 through SD card, having wiped all the data first, and the result is the same: no sensors are present. No autorotation, no compass, no auto-brightness. Elixir shows only the microphone as one of the sensors, everything else is shown as "not available" (as shown on my previous snapshot).
Any help?
Thank you!

And yesterday, with no reason at all, ALL of my sensors (accels, gyro, magnet field, etc.) started working again. I just powered the tablet on and voilĂ , everything was perfect! Elixir showed all the sensors up and running!
I think this post can be closed now... I hope it doesn't happen again!
