Hi everyone,
It seems that I have run into a problem and was wondering if anybody can help me out.
I had successfully rooted and installed a custom ROM on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) on Rogers. The problem starts when I got a message that a software update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, thinking the HC 3.2 update, was available and downloaded it and installed it. After install, the Tab rebooted and now all I get is a black screen after bootup.
Tried pushing the power button and volume down button together but still no luck.
Anybody out there that could help?
Thanks in advance
Your saying you can't get into recovery or download mode? Also, could you tell me exactly how you rooted your tab?

What custom rom did you install? Most of the latest roms are on 3.2 already. Is it completely black or does it glow when you are in a dark room? If it glows press the powet button till it is completely off then try pressing power and volume down at rhe same time.

I rooted it through ODIN and it was the Overload CFW for HC 3.1
I was on HC 3.1 until I decided to upgrade to HC 3.2 and that's when it all went black. I still get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 logo, and was finally able to get it into download mode just now.
Any way I could revert back to stock?
you can odin to stock with a variety of stock ROMs from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
but do you still have recovery on it? just boot into recovery and flash a 3.2 ROM.

We seem to be in the same boat - mine bricked last night as well and roughly the same time as you posted .
Horrible to have my first post on here be of this nature, but so be it
I will give feedback if I get mine fixed with the above described methods - and a few others I have found on the net.
---------- Post added at 05:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20 PM ----------
**Bump**
Fixed it !!
I have followed the following steps - hope it helps you !
Download the following Stock ROM - P7500OXAKG7_P7500XXKG7_P7500XXKG7_bysamsdroid (Google it for the Hotfile link) I cannot post links yet
Start your Tab in Downloading mode (Power + Vol Down) then choose the Right Option
Extract downloaded ROM files to Desktop / Accessible Folder
In ODIN, choose PDA then select the files you just extracted
Flash the ROM file (mine took +/- 5mins for the 500+MB)
Start the Tablet in ROM Management mode (Power + Vol Down) then choose the Left option - The Interface should be a BLUE one if you've done it right
Install your selected ROM
Hold thumbs ;-)
Next ROM on my list is BINDROID - hold thumbs I dont break it
Thank for the help everyone, was able to recover my Tab and it is working perfectly now.
Well, which method worked

how did you get it in download mode, after more tries with power + vol down?
Unable to get to bootloader
I've apparently done the same thing and am only getting a black screen. Unable to get to bootloader with Power+DnVol. After leaving plugged in for a while I do see the screen glow, but am still unable to power on. Odin did see the device in this glow state, but was unable to download CWM again.
Any ideas?

This should help. Worked for me.
Thank you! I'll give it a try and report back.
Well, it looks like I have a bad USB cable as my tablet wasn't actually charging even though I'd left it plugged in over night.
Was able to finally boot into recovery to install the ROM, but forgot to copy the GAPPS.zip to the tablet and had a dickens of a time figuring out how to copy it after booting into ICS. Finally resorted to file copying over Bluetooth as I couldn't find how to turn on MTP.
Thanks for the link Misledz, I'll keep it closeby in case I ever do actually brick my tab.

You're welcome Also the tablet by default doesn't charge via USB, there is a script you have to enable to allow it to do so, or 3.2 HC, Then again I don't think it's the cable being fault

Hello
I have the next issue
I have a Samsung Galaxy Europa GT-I5500
And it bricked when I closed odin 4.36 after, when the phone was in downloading mode due that there was no completion. I wanted to install a newer version of the clockwork (mod) recovery.
I installed an old version but was unable to install the CyanogenMod (hte one from psyke83) that I wanted. And after I wanted to try a newer version of the clockwork (mod).
And now the phone is with the PC---to Phone icon brick mode.
I tried the volume down + main button + power off and isn't working
Also i tried to run the one click unbrick and isn't able to connect to the phone. Seems that the phone doesn't reach the computer
I tried an usb list (lsusb) in the ubuntu and does appear if i connect it.
I tried both in windows 7 and ubuntu
Do you think is a softbrick? Any clues? recomendations or questions for more details
did you find any solution..
i have no warranty since it as directly imported..i have the same problem ..
i was trying to backup my rom when it bricked.. (using rom manager) .... i tried volume down + home + power button (disconnect button) but nothings showed up.

I had a problem with the buttons on the phone the volume down wasn't working.
What do you mean by home button the one with the home icon or the main one with the metal borders because is that button the one that you need to use.
I also tried the resitor of 301kohms between the pins 4 and 5 didn't work.
Now i have the 2.3.7 working stable at the moment
try that combination of buttons if not tell me
I am pretty sure there is nothing you can do about it, if it is completely bricked.
And the phone won't turn on, in any case what so ever?

Depends if it is hard bricked or soft bricked. If the screens turns on and appears the PC---/!\ --- phone. The he can try to use the three key combination or the usb homemade jig. Otherwise he can try to find someone with the JTAG
search in google JTAG galaxy for more info.
sounds like a hard brick. People claim that taking the battery and sim out of the phone for 30 mins (min) and then putting back in and booting to download mode sometimes works
You could try that
MY BROTHER IS IN THE WAY YOU DOWNLOAD but equally can not install any OTHER ONE IS A STRONG BRICK
On galaxy s this also happens from time to time, even i had it once. Try if Odin possibly connects anyway and flash again, if not, remove your battery leave it out for 60 seconds and then try if you can get to download mode again. You definitely have not hardbricked your device...

Did you already try: vol up, menu, power on (by this order, holding them all together in the end) ???
(It might be that for your device you should press and hold: vol down, home button, power)
Did you try taking out the battery (for 10 - 15 secs) and trying the above combination again???
Also you might find this page of interest for your case: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734997. Credits to @neerajganga

A last comment; in my experience, using the latest version of Odin and firmware from the links I sent you, never required extra files (like pit or any other type).
Best of luck! :good: Share how it goes!
My SGH-i777 is running the latest ported ROM based on the CM9 March 23rd nightly. I've made a terrible mistake. I was renaming my last backup via ROM Manager, and decided I might as well do another one since my set up was where I wanted it. Like an idiot, I did it via RM, even though I've read there's a bug. Well, needless to say my phone won't boot past the Samsung yellow triangle boot screen.
I've been searching for the best method to fixing the issue, but can't find a solid answer. I'm able to get into download mode, I'm just not sure the safest route from here...
I originally rooted via heimdall on a Mac, but also have a PC - which I'm actually currently downloading ODIN on there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
If you can get into download mode use the full version of Odin to flash a kernel with cwm and uncheck auto reboot. Then you should be able to hold both volume keys with power to get into recovery. Then you can reflash cm9
You really have to make sure to uncheck auto reboot though cause any non ics kernel booting ics won't be good.
EDIT: to avoid this, are you able to get into cwm by holding both volume keys + power?

Thanks for the quick reply. OK, I'll try as soon as I get ODIN on my PC. No, I'm not able to get into CWM. Holding both volume keys + power just results in the Samsung boot screen.
I was able to use ODIN to flash a kernel with CMW, and got a PASS! - and I didn't check off Auto Reboot...
My phone is still showing the download mode screen, though, a progress bar is now visible.
From here, should I:
pull the battery
unplug USB
place the battery back in
volume up + down + power to CWM
reflash CM9
I thought I replied, but looks like it didn't go through.
Anyway, thanks again. I did pretty much exactly what you said, and I'm back on a fresh CM9 build, everything working.
So lesson learned...uninstall ROM Manager so I don't make a careless mistake like that again.

Can you get into download mode, like I could? Otherwise, I wouldn't know, sorry.
If you can, this is what I did (it worked for me, hopefully for you too, but you might want to search/read more before you dive in, just in case your problem isn't the same as mine):
power phone down
download a kernel with CWM to PC
if you never have, download/install drivers/Kies to PC
plug USB cable into phone/PC (phone still off)
hold vol down + power on phone to enter download mode
launch Odin on PC
uncheck reboot in Odin (important!)
add the kernel
run Odin
once you see PASS! in Odin, and the progress bar full/complete on your phone you're on the home stretch
while still plugged in, pull the phone battery
unplug USB from phone
battery back in
hold vol up + vol down + power to enter CWM
re-flash CM9
reboot
Good luck! Let me know how you make out.
Thanks
Turns out the only way I could get into download mode was pulling the battery, connecting to PC, holding power and volume and reconnecting to PC. Went right into download mode and I'm able to fix from there. Thanks so much! Didn't know that one! Appreciate all your help!
Hello All,
First, let me say how much I've enjoyed reading this Forum and how much I LOVED my TMobile Samsung Vibrant 3G. While it worked for a long time running Froyo 2.2 with a Bionix Next-Gen V2 ROM, it was fantastic, but lately the microphone had been dying (I sounded more and more muffled no matter what I did). So I flashed up to ICS and installed Chimera to see if that might help. While the phone ran beautifully except for several apps that were rather wonky, I was getting more and more muffled.
So the other day I decided to restore my Nandroid backup, however when I flashed back I got stuck on the Vibrant boot screen. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get to Recovery.
How do I get back to Recovery from this? I have never used Odin, the only time I've ever hooked the phone up to the computer was when I originally flashed from Eclair to Froyo many moons ago. So please let me know if I'm missing something.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
You made a mistake when you tried to restore a 2.2 based backup from ICS base ROM. Now you must Odin to stock, its not that hard. First you will need to download the Odin program. I'm assuming you have device drivers on your PC but double check. Next you need 2 files, the 512 pit and jfd firmware file. Once you have those files you need to get in download mode.
I will link a thread with files and directions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9375927

OK I installed Odin and the necessary files and drivers, I plugged in the phone, but when I try to turn it on into Download Mode the Vibrant doesn't respond. There's just the little spinning light in the center of the screen. Odin doesn't recognize the phone either.
Anything else I can do?
Odin won't recognize unless you are in DL mode. I linked a video, I know it says captivate. Don't worry about the mod etc just follow it to get in download mode.

OK watched the video, but 2 things:
-when I try to boot into Recovery it gets stuck on the Vibrant Samsung initial splash screen and never moves, even when holding down the 3 buttons;
-this video assumes I can access the phone to install the fix or anything else. I can't, it just stays stuck in the splash screen;
-I tried holding down the 3 buttons and simultaneously plugging in the USB cable, and still nothing but the splash screen;
-is there any way to turn on the device while hooked into the computer so Odin or something else can use the necessary files to turn it on and make it accessible?
Thanks all for your patience and advice, it's much appreciated. I LOVE this little phone and really want to heal her!
Hi,
I think you have tried to go to recovery mode using 3 button combo. But in order to use ODIN device has to be in DOWNLOAD MODE which can be done using following steps
1)start off with phone turned off
2)press down volume up, and volume down at same time, and never let go until you get into download mode. DON'T touch the power button
3) while holding down both volume buttons get your usb cable which is connected to your computer
4)plug in the usb cable into your phone, while you still hold down both up/down volume buttons at same time. Don't touch the power button.
5)As soon as you plug your usb cable into your phone, the phone will instantly go into Download mode.
6)You may now release the volume buttons

NOTE: here is a link I found. Just take a look http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-access-download-and-recovery-mode-in-samsung-vibrant/
OK we are trying to get download mode not recovery. Your phone must be off for download mode. If it flashes vibrant screen you have gone to far and something is wrong. I specifically said pay no attention to the mod in video. Regardless I think you might need a jig to get in download mode.
I approve this message.
OK, noob error (smacks head), I kept saying Recovery Mode when what I needed was DL Mode, my sincerest apologies.
I got into DL Mode finally by holding down the Volume buttons (not the Power button), then plugging in the USB cable. The Vibrant promptly went into DL mode. Odin recognized the phone and off we went. It's now back to Stock Eclair (yuck).
So next question: am I rooted or do I have to do that all over again? And if so, what's the fastest way to do it so I can flash to the ROMs I knew and loved?
Lastly, a great big THANK YOU to samsgun357 & haarsh for all your assistance, you guys ROCK! :good:

Happy Flashing :good:
Yep, got it rooted and flashed Cyanogen7, then flashed up to an ICS ROM (started with Chimera but it's a tad wonky so flashed over to Euphoria, we'll see how that goes).
That said, the microphone is still sounding very muffled, so I think it's a hardware issue. I was due for an upgrade anyway so I picked up the Samsung 4G Blaze (nice since the Vibrant I had was the 3G). So right now I'm just having fun exploring Android on the Vibrant while I read up on how to root and improve the Blaze.
I will miss this little phone though, it was light and super fast and agile, perfectly sized, especially compared to the mini-tablets coming out lately like the Samsung SIII and LG L9 or HTC One. I prefer smaller phones, so the Blaze fits the bill right now even though it's heavier than my old Vibrant.
Thanks again for everyone's assistance, VERY much appreciated! :good:

Download mode IS what you need to use Odin a get back to stock.
The above post shows the button combo for DL mode and recovery based on which bootloaders you're running (thanks haarsh). If you haven't flashed GB boots, you have froyo boots.
Now make sure you have the correct Odin files and drivers on your PC.
The goal here is to get power to the phone, while holding button combo, from the PC.
Do a battery pull/replace. Plug USB into computer
While holding your button combo (see above) plug the phone in.
Hopefully you see DL mode
Also try pulling battery, plug USB in PC and phone
While holding button combo, pop the battery back in.
This can be tricky sometimes so don't give up.
OK. Let me backup and give you more info.
So sorry...
I rooted, but was unable to download ROM manager from the Store (im assuming bc it was running Froyo).
I was able to get CMW to install via update.zip. Once installed the phone was going directly into recovery when asked (3 button method). It would go into the Anroid recovery, first and then from continually installing CMW, go into CMW.
From there i installed a CM10 nightly.
Install went fine, but no mobile data connection. I went back to CMW and restored the original ROM, rebooted and am stuck w/ the pinwheel.
I can't get into to download mode AT ALL. I've tried the various button methods with no luck.
From what I did, I can assume that 2.1 IS installed on the phone.
Thoughts?
Thank you so much for the help.
Well the issue you have was caused by going back to a 2.1 or 2.2 build from cm10 through cwm. You should have used Odin to get back to stock.
If you can't get in DL mode manually you will need to buy a DL jig. You can get them from www.mobiletechvideos.com also from amazon I think. You can also make one yourself, just search USB download jig, you should find it.

Hi, I've acquired a NABI 2 to try and repair off a friend but its proving difficult to say the least. I know he was doing something with the firmware but beyond that im not sure.
The current state its in is this: It doesnt power on by pressing the power button. If you enter the recovery menu (VOL +, VOL- and power) the recovery menu displays in the top left with the nabi logo in the centre of the screen. The menu cannot be navigated, either its froze or its unresponsive. If i connect it by usb when in the recovery menu the PC detects it as a MTP USB Device but it fails to install the drivers.
Really i just want this back to factory standard, is their anyway to put this back in working order? I've not a whole lot of android experience so please, treat me as a noob with step by step instructions.
Any help appreciated
Update
As is often the case new things happened after i posted, i can now access the recovery menu. This happened when i tried to instal the stock 2.0.5 from SD card

I'm short on time this Christmas Eve but the general idea is this if it's a US Nabi2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51037177&postcount=21
EXCEPT use the files from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54871957&postcount=2342
instead of the ones it says to download in the first post I link, use the files from the second post I linked(Nabi 246 files, JB bootloader). It will work but the only trick is which TWRP to start with ICS ot JB. You may have to try one and then the other. After that the procedure should get everything running again.
Ok, i managed to get TWRP working again but its unable to install anything, whenever i try it just shows as in the screenshot. Any further advice?

Power on > SAMSUNG J3 screen > No boot. Screen just flashes. No logo after the initial J3 screen.
Have tried every button combination / plugging USB in trick I can think of in an attempt to get to download mode.
Phone immediately attempts to boot when plugged in through USB. Im sure its just trying to display the charging screen but it doesn't even do that.
Samsung drivers are installed but do not see any USB recognition in Device Manager.
Any ideas for this newly acquired paper weight?
did you try adb or fastboot? just because its not showing in windows doesn't mean its not being seen...
i finally got it to boot into download mode by holding VOL down and the home key while plugging the usb in. flashed to stock rom with odin. not rooted but also not useless now.
I am having similar problems although self-induced. I had messed up my J3 Achieve so that it wouldn't boot. So, I tried reloading the stock firmware but had problems. I ended up loading the combination firmware factory binary. But, now I cannot get it into Download Mode to use ODIN for another firmware update. It keeps going in to the Unknown Power or Upload Mode. ODIN sees the phone in that mode but won't connect to load files.
The Factory Binary has a place to do DownloadMode, but it says Enter Password. So, I have no idea what the password would be and coannot find any documentation on the service firmware (assuming they use this at the factory to test). I can get to recovery, which will let me load from SD or ADB. I have barely used ADB and couldn't get it to connect. So, I need some guidance. Hopefully I didn't totally brick it, although I only paid about $60 for it and can get most of that back for parts.
Ideas?
OK, I got the stock ROM reloaded - finally. Now, however, I'm back to the problem that started all of these problems in the first place. When I flash TWRP, the phone won't boot. It shows the initial screen and then goes into a mode where it is either black or dark gray (momentary flashes like it's trying to do something). I've verified my version of TWRP (released in October). Any ideas how to flash this one correctly?

I know you've fixed this but the way to get it to download mode when you get the upload screen is by holding down vol - , power and home button. Once the screen goes blank continue to hold down the home button and let off either the vol- and hold the home button, or hold vol - still and home button. It will then boot into download mode.

That TWRP build doesn't work. I have created a build that works only functions arent working properly so i just need to edit some things then I will upload it here.
