[Q] What Steps Before I Root? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have a brand new out of the box GTp7510 wi-fi updated to 3.2. I am ready to root the tab using the video walk through, but can anyone tell me if there is anything that I should do prior to starting the process? Video doesn't cover that part.

Follow this word for word. Load up the video as well. If you don't understand the written directions play the video to that part of the directions and see it performed.
See you on the other side.

Follow the instructions closely. Before you stsrt make sure you find a stock rom you can use should anything go haywire. once you have installed recovery immediately make a backup.

Netflix

Sorry if this is already reported, but Netflix has upgraded the client and it is no longer available in the market. Is there a workatound?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Netflix apparently removed the app because of the issues some people are having with it. Since its a free app, you can probably easily find the older .apk file by googling.
I just found it using the Galaxy tab and the htc buildprops.
The galaxy had video but chipmunks.
The htc worked, but I had no video until moving the app toSD.
I am running MN.
Good luck.

Here's the thread with the latest updated Netflix apk.

Just installed, chipmunk because of the accelerated video. So I'd suggest try editing your build.prop as suggested above to see if it helps.

Saw this thread and it work great on my nook with Phiremod 6.3. No woraround necessary no chipmunks either.

I keep getting the following message:
"It looks like Netflix has been deactivated on this device. It could be an issue with your account or perhaps your device was deactivated on nexflix.com (2004)"
Is this a new issue? (or did my spouse forget to pay the bill? )

I had netflix working on Phiremod 6.2 with the "hack".
I got the same message that you're reporting when I tried to upgrade to Phiremod 6.3, but I didn't do a clean install.
I did a complete wipe of the nook and started a fresh install of Phiremod 6.3. I then downloaded Netflix from the market and it worked again.
Idiot me. Once you mentioned datawipe it hit me and I went to manage applications, wiped data and voila, netflix works
Thank you for the nudge in the right direction.
I did have to do the build edit to rid myself of the chipmunks, but I just finished watching a movie before bed

Hulu finally! Rooted or Not

I came across this app at the market that was just put up today called DroidLu.
This app will allow you to watch Hulu on our SGT 10.1 without needing any flash hack! It costs 99 cents I would have paid more for this since it made it possible for me to watch Hulu! Now 3.2 has come to our tablet previous hacks don't work.
I can confirm it works!
Currently on Tsk650 V5 GT-P7510
Note that Hulu only works when you run it through Droidlu app. And make sure that you have latest flash player 11
Schuweeeeet ill try it out later tonight

works great on galaxy tab 10.1 T-Mobile.
It works great! Solid $1 purchase.
Thanks for the heads up!
It's barely an app. It's very difficult to scroll on the progress bar, very difficult to adjust the volume. The worst part is that the return button doesn't take you to the previous page. So you have to start all over again when you click on the wrong button. If you hit the lock button, you also have to start all over again after unlocking. So, if you want to want the show from beginning to end without interruption, without any misclicks, without jumping forward or adjusting volume, this is the app you want.

Exactly. I bought the app, but quickly got a refund as I couldn't stand this...

I noticed that to but like all early apps its a work in progress. Dev says that future updates will remedy our concens. Its still a great freakin deal to be able to watch Hulu! This is the only app ive seen so far that can do this. Patience patience

Hey! I wrote this app, thanks for the constructive criticism. I've fixed most if not all of these issues in the most recent update!
Nice find!!
Did this get pulled from the market? I don't see it.

That would be awesome. Just updated to 3.2 and the lib files for the flash hack for hulu are not there anymore. Need a way to stream!

So I downloaded and extracted the zip and placed the files in the location where titanium backup keeps its updates but I couldn't get it to restore the app. Is there anything I am missing?
I was able to track down the apk at the link below but I can't get it to play any videos
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-applications/183229-droidlu.html
Has anyone gotten this app to work on a 3.2 ROM? I've tried it on overcome 2.0 and Task 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2 with no luck. When the video starts to load it just closes.
Any one else?
You can get hulu to work using the old method. You just have to remove flash, copy the old .so to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer, reinstall flash from the market, then use a hex editor to change the plugin variable AND to WIN. I am running galaxy task 5.3 and I just watched Castle without any problems.

Would you mind creating a new thread with a sticky how to?
My experience today:
Search the market for "DroidLu" and it will bring up an app called Flash Video Browser by Dan Lockard for just under a buck. I just found out about it on droidforum, installed it on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it works! I'm watching Modern Family right now!

Yep, just installed and it works perfectly. I'll give his FlashBrowser a try in a sec, because this is definitely worth $0.99!
EDIT: Spoke too soon. FlashBrowser shows as not compatible with my Verizon 4G LTE tab. I'll stick with the old DroidLu APK (linked above, working) and see if there's another way to donate to him.

Android Market ( Play ) - Unable to leave comment on app after ICS update

Yes, I have searched. Heres another thing that appears to be broken after the ICS update...or Im missing something here. When you go to rate and comment on a market app, as soon as you start typing in the text box ....the OK button grays out and you can't submit your comment/rating. As soon as I delete all of my text....voila! ..its like im only allowed to rate, but not leave a comment. I have always left comments..how to remedy this? Yes im logged in with my gmail account.
Works just fine for me on NilsP's Sense 4 ROM.
Have ran a RUU yet?

I would run the RUU. It really sounds like a bad flash to me man.
There are a couple links to the PH98IMG file around, you should be able to flash that without an issue.
[edit] Here is the link: http://db.tt/M09JDsfq
This **will** wipe everything. I would also recommend doing a gactory reset in hboot after running this. Some say run it twice, I usually don't but YMMV.

[Q] Help, BN screen unresponsive

Hello, I finally got my tablet to how I wanted and put my daughters apps from my phone onto the tablet so she can use that and I could have my phone back. I went to read a book and the screen wasn't working. A few days before that I noticed she was in the touch firmware so I'm assuming that's what the problem is. I tried uninstalling the root using Ray's method to unbrick but that didn't do anything. If I install the CM10 microdisc it works fine as the android tablet but I can't use the screen as a BN tablet. Still a noob but I think she flashed something. (I remember a red button as I walked in.) If this could be fixed I would appreciate the help greatly. Also is there a way I can hide the icons in the app tray so I can prevent this in the future, she's 2 and I see other things happening. Thank you again.
There should be an app called "touch firmware flasher" or words of that meaning when running CM10. Run that app and restore to original touch firmware.

It comes up current firmware 10-touch you can flash stock and that's it. How do I restore to original firmware?
So I ended up hitting for it to flash again and it fixed it. Didn't see any kinds of menu so figured it had to do with that. Thank you for your help I assumed it would have to do with something else.

Stuck on yellow Sprint screen Note 3

Hello. First I will say I have searched the forum for this but couldn't find the answer for my device. The answer might be the same as the other but wanted to check before I screw up my phone any further. I'm a total novice so please bare with me. I was attempting to root my Note 3 per galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-note-3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-3/[/url] . I followed the instructions and everything seemed to go as it should. When I was finished a bunch of apps were missing and I couldn't access text, google play, or settings (maybe others as well). I re-did the root process again but still had the same results. I then tried to do a factory reset which got me where I am right now which is stuck at the yellow Sprint screen. Can someone point me in the right direction? Can I reload factory setting via my computer? Can I take it to a Sprint store and let them factory reset? Am I screwed? Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
Do you know if you were on kit kat or lollipop?
