Its configured using my internal IP, is it possible to somehow use it on my tablet, from like work or something using an external IP?

Yes, link the server with your myPlex account and log into another Plex client with your credentials.

Will it work outside a network? Yes, if you configure things right, but Plex sucks.
Try these alternatives:

Nope, maybe your desktop computer isn't powerful enough for live transcodes, what bitrate are you using? Try lowering it.

It should be, and my internets fast. Where do I set the bit rate? Any suggestions?

If you're on the local network the speed of your Internets is irrelevant. Internet speed (specifically upstream capability of your Internet in combination with the download stream available to the Prime) only matters when you're on a remote network.
In Qloud you can set the global bitrate settings for different types of connections. I find Qloud sometimes doens't pick up the right value, but that's ok since you get a chance to also set it before you play a video too. Here's a video of me doing it (please excuse the crappy video recording quality of the phone I used to record this).

Can you stream a video?

I have discovered a nasty little bug in the prime, mainly that the wifi (without BT on, mind you) is so slow that I cant even stream a 240p video without it buffering and stopping every few seconds. Can the rest of you stream video fine? (Not only from the YouTube app but from online sources)
I can see streams from Justin.tv at 720+ resolution without problems. Is it just happening on your prime? Can you see the same streams fine on a PC or laptop via wireless?

[Q] Can I access my PC when not at home?

Hey guys
I was wondering if there is an app or some other way of accessing the movies etc on my PC at home when I'm not there using my tab? Say I'm at work using the wifi there is there some way of connecting to my shared folder on my home PC and streaming through the internet back to my galaxy tab?
All help greatly appreciated to relieve my boring breaks with a TV episode
Cheers

Team viewer worked great on my nook color for controlling my PC from anywhere. Just had to set it up on both the PC and nook. Easy and free in the market.
Never tried it on the tab though.

It gave me total control of my PC.... Showed my screen almost like remote desktop. Freaked the kids out when I took control of the mouse from anywhere. lol
Edit: Just noticed you wanted to stream some TV shows. Don't know if that would be clunky or not.

Not sure if it would depend on the connection speed or more the capabilities of the app itself. I shall give it a try tonight. Much appreciated mate and looking forward to freaking out the wife haha

The only problem is using Teamviewer you would need to set a prefixed password and username on it as it generates random per session so would be best. Also it needs to be on, closing teamviewer on your PC means you cut off the communication. Also it doesn't require a high end internet as teamviewer by default drops the quality and turns off wallpaper's and such per connection to enhance speed to navigate vs graphics.

That's fine my PC is on 24/7 anyway so that wouldn't be a problem.. if it sacrifices graphics for speed do you think maybe its not gonna be suitable for what I need it for?

Think you can set a password to use all the time in options, but it's been awhile since using. So could be wrong, but never remember having a random password. But yes I do remember having to have the PC on, but believe I could still wake it.
Again, I've not used my nook color for some time with this. So give an old man a break if I'm wrong.

i use splashtop which basically works like windows remote desktop - you can see and interact with your home pc like you were in front of it - great for playing back videos as well

Server runs on Linux, Mac or PC. I have a Linux server running so I can't tell you how good the Windows port is.
I have never used it for an outward facing connection though it is designed to work that way. I have it running on my old Dinc, Kindle Fire and the G-Tab. Video streaming works very well.

In my opinon it is all about the bandwidth. Some (HD) Movies need up to several megabit per second...
A solution is to use a VPN connection to the home network and a UPnP-AV server/client.
I use Twonky and BubbleUPnP, but only in my LAN. With a VPN and sufficient bandwith on the connection this would do the job over the internet, too.
Scanflex
With a little planning you could upload the video files that you want to be able to access to Dropbox, Minus or whatever Google offers that is similar. Then all you would have to do is access the files from your tab. If you have enough bandwidth for video, it should work great.
Check it out and let us know if my idea works for your needs.

Never thought about cloud.. like u say though forward planning would be needed and I'd have to upload everything that I'd want to watch each time before I go anywhere. Nice idea though

I have had cerberus installed on my PC for a long time, it allows you to use your PC as an FTP server.
This way you can have access to your chosen files anywhere with the internet. On your mobile most file explorers have a FTP option to move files to or from the PC.
Its handy to have access to all your music, or maybe use it the other way to backup your photos ect when away from home for a extended period.
you could also stream over FTP if your file explorer allows you to map the FTP server as a local drive

Cannot stream from nbc.com

Can you guys stream any nbc.com full episodes? I used to be able to. What format do they use now cause my brothers new ipad can stream. I wonder how many other sites are gonna go this route. I'd hate for this to happen as this is one reason I went with the prime.

Using Overskreen browser works fine. Opera mobile doesn't seem to work. So more then likely a browser issue.

What about your stock browser or ice+? I cant get neither to work.
Funny, I figured stock browser using request desktop site settings would work but I just tried it and no go, which is unusual. Even HBOGO works that way. Also tried Firefox and same thing on nbc. Not available for device.
I tried it on the Boat browser. The stream plays with sound and audio when the show starts then 15 seconds into it the video stops but the sound continues. If I switch screen size then I get video again for another 15 seconds. It is like they are injecting something into the stream that is messing everything up.
From what my brother tells me nbc.com uses quicktime on the iPad or quicktime can interpret the video or something to that effect.
Just for grins I checked abc and cbs and they both play just fine. I have User Agent set to desktop.
works also on Dolphin HD but does not on stock browser. Says "It's not currently available for this device."

So I am still interested in people's opinion on this topic. I am thinking about getting a Media Link HD but I feel like I would be stupid to buy one. It seems to me like I have a phone with DLNA and a PS3 & LG BD390 that both have DLNA so why do I need another box?
Can anyone give me an idea how we could make the PS3 work like the Media Link HD? Thanks!
Does anyone know of an app that lets you stream from a DLNA device and program such as PS3 Media Server?
-^ i would like to know too. when i turn on my media share, the ps3 recognizes it, but when i open the folders there is nothing there.

When you're on it try hitting triangle and I think it might say display all or something like that.

I have a netgear router that comes with an app called netgear genie streams everything perfect the only thing it does not do is mirror the phone. A neat feature but not worth $75 to me to buy Media Link HD.

Youtube buffering

I get 25 down at my house and in my room i have one of those apple wifi extender things that plugs into a wall outlet. For some reason when connected to the wifi extender i get only 6 down. This should still be enough for HD youtube since i can still play HD netflix through it however video costantly stops and starts. Has any one else expeienced this? Is there a certain download speed needed for youtube?

i believe thats because using the browser to load youtube disables HD
if you turn HD off via the app it'll load better..... but buffering just suck on the prime... sadly enough =[
