cannot post in the correct thread in developers as i am a noob member but following the noob thread when i get to the step to mount the sdcard in recovery i cannot. i keep getting the error
E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(no such file or directory)
what exactly are you trying to do? a little more info would be nice. you said you are trying to mount in recovery? for what reason?
Aren't the SD Cards auto mounted in Amon-Ra recovery? Wouldn't that error be due to the fact that they're already mounted?
Use Amon-Ra or Clockworkmod; While in recovery mount SD card.
I had to restore my laptop back to original factory settings for it to recognize my phone.
had nothing to do with the rezound, my computer woulndt install any new drivers..
if I had usb debugging turned on the computer wouldnt find the sd card or internal storage, as soon as I clicked usb debugging off, bang found sd card. I suggest trying this.

I've looked all over the internet for a solution but they are either only part of my problem or do something that I don't understand with the SDK kit.
So I started up my rooted Droid incredible phone today and it just freezes at the HTC incredible flash screen. I have to pull out the battery to restart it. I can get into CWM recovery but it says
E:can't mount /cache/recover/command
E:can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:can't mount /cache/recover/log
E:can't mount /cache/recover/last_log
E:can't open /cache/recover/last_log
It wont even read anything from the SD card. So I am unable to mount the SD card or access it by usb through the phone.
I tried a factory reset and nothing happened. CWM wont even run a recovery or factory reset.
I am at a total lose.
Please help me fix this!
the SD card wont mount so i cant get to anyone on the card.
It looks like your eMMc chip went bad. Your phone is most likely bricked. The only way to come back from this that doesnt always work is to put an RUU on your SD card and boot into HBoot. I don't have your phone, but the RUU's should be available in your phones forum.
I have successfully fixed it and it has no problem, it turns out the retard I bought it from replaces the screen but took out the internal storage and it was at a boot loop cause it couldn't store it's data! I'm very satisfied now! Thanks to all that tried to help me though. any mod or admin can close this thread now
I'm a bit confused.
If you have streakmod recovery installed you cannot flash a stock rom.
Have you tried using a micro SD adapter to put your card directly into the computer?
If you have streakmod installed then you need a custom rom. If your device is not recognised then try the way I suggested to transfer a custom rom to your micro SD card.

Yeah the micro sd works fine on my adaptor I just need to fix the brick its the boot logo loop. I just dont understand why it isn't recognizing my sd i put on the phone like in calibration test it found it but when i try to mount usb from streakmod it asks me to inser drive d: or whatever the drive letter was. Maybe you can point me in the right direction to fixing this brick.

first of all ... you must use streakmod recovery...
secondly... i think the inner sd card has gone bad...
I got same problem,
I took innerSD out and I check it in my PC, it said nothing wrong with it
but it is in FAT format, strange ..
I thought inner SD is in EXT format isn't it ?
Is that the problem ?
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16710474&postcount=7
To answer your questions...
1. The MicroSD should be in EXT format, not FAT or FAT32.
2. Yes, that is your problem.
Read the threads at the link provided. They have a wealth of information. Also to be found on the forums is a link to a disk image of the inner MicroSD, which you can use to restore your card. Assuming of course the link is still active.
Just currious
How can My InnerSD became FAT formated ?
I never touch inner SD before, and it run well for almost 4 years (never send "the error msg" + FC's)
I used, froyo > Stock Olleh > PowerRom > last MIUI 2.4.20
after MIUI installed, I used Pure Performance + some swap thing in aplikation + SD Booster
and then, I got the "can't mount messege"
and another problem is
if replace the innerSD and then I format the innerSD the way it should be (in EXT)
I dont have any image to copy, while the OEM InnerSD is in FAT
For the disk image, search the forums here. One of our users posted an image of the MicroSD quite some time ago. Assuming his link is still active, you can use that image to restore the card. If that image does not work, try formatting the card with SD Formatter from sdcard.org, then place it back into the Streak. If after that the card still doesn't work, replace the card.
As for asking how the card could be formatted in that fashion, I have absolutely no idea.
So I just got back from a trip to Vegas, went to upgrade MeanROM from 6.3 to 6.5, and then my SD card would not mount and my internal storage is not showing. I've tried numerous things to try and fix this, by mounting SD and formatting it (Fat32, quick format off), unplugging and plugging in the SD Card, using a different one. No matter what I do, using TWRP 2.1.8 doesn't recognize the SD card and gives a repeated
E: failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument).
E: Unable to mount /sdcard
Any tips?
Old Twrp ya got....use Goomanager and update...see if that might fix it
Can't even get GooManager to put anything in system cause it defaults to SD card
?? Goomanager install the recovery to the boot partition...you did click menu/ Install OpenRecoveryScript ???
Try flashing CWM recovery and seeing if that helps? My first guess would be to format your internal but since you've already done that I would default to blaming TWRP

CMW is known to damage misc partitions
I just had a similar problem and the only lasting solution was to relock the bootloader, RUU, and reroot. It's easy and the newest RUU isn't difficult to reroot.
I was able to reformat in the internal SD a few times using a PC (before I ran the RUU that is) but it only lasted a reboot or two before re-corrupting. I wish I had just RUU'd from the beginning and not wasted effort with all the reformatting.
Just got a factory refurbished Nook Tablet 16GB from B&N and rooted it and installed CYM 7 and it seemed to be working. After doing so, I started having issues with the SD card readers. I originally had a 16GB class 6 Sandisk card in it, but also tried a class 4 4GB Sandisk and a class 10 Microcenter one and all have problems reading. What I'm trying to do now is restore it to stock and see if I can get some help from B&N. Right now, it will give me the N screen and then will show Cyanoboot(it won't let me hold down N to get any menu) and say loading recovery from EMMC and then it will only go into TWRP. I try to install various images from the different SD cards but all will fail. Error messages in the log show E:failed to mount /emmc and E:unable to mount messages. Any ideas on what else I can try?
Thanks,
Col
IJust in case it's not a hardware fault:
Try making a bootable CWM card, boot into it at start over again.
Or you could try the "repart.img" unbrick card.
Searches should bring you to either.

Tried the repart.img to a card. It appears like it works and then says it's going to reboot and never does. Rebooting then brings back the cyanoboot screen and TWRP.
I can boot from a CWM card, but I'm not sure what to select. When I try to factory reset, I get errors:

OK, if you can boot into a CWM card, do that and put something flashable at the same card so it's there when you boot into it.
I'm guessing your bootable CWM card is 5.x.x so you cannot flash CM10 with it. Try putting a CM7 on the card before booting into CWM. That way you have a working system.
TWRP did not play well with my NT and my SD card. CWM has never failed me though!

I guess I'm suggesting something along this post (even though I haven't followed that particular routine myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037368
FWIW, I did something like what's in post 25 of that topic to install my CM10.
OMG! My memoery is really bad! I totally forgot that I had trouble getting into cyanoboot when doing that! I see now my own post in that topic, just a few days ago... I used a CM10 sd-card just to get inti cyanoboot, and then I went on from there.
And by the way, what happens when you run the repart.img? What should happen is first it says "don't turn off you device" (or words to that effect),a dn after a not too long while a green checkmark appear. At that point, remove the card and it probably reboots itself, and goes into a new (smaller) "don't turn off..." and that part takes wuite a while.
I just load everything on EMMC and have a copy of the NT recovery flasher apk on hand in case I need to revert to stock.
Well, I tried to boot to a CM7 boot image on the SDcard and it starts to boot and gives me the CM7 screen, but then kicks back to the Nook N screen and boots back into TWRP.
I tried to the repart.img again and it boots, gives me the Please do not turn off, etc. screen, but with a red X in the corner. It then gives me the message that it's done and will reboot, but never turns back on. If I boot it again, it goes back into the TWRP boot.
Stupid question...is the EMMC the SD card or the internal memory? It seems like the errors I get are related to the emmc.
thanks for all the help.
More updates...I got it to boot from a CWM-based recovery SDcard v.5.5.0.4 and when I try to flash a zip file from the SD card, I get the errors:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Error mounting /emmc!
Ok, what's in this post makes my head spin, but it seems like it could fix the problem...

Trying to get adb running and seeing the device, but no dice right now. Windows seems to recognize it and see storage, but ADB doesn't see it. Am going to keep fighting with that to see if I can do anything through there.

Check android_winusb.inf (Program Files -> Android -> Extra -> USB Driver) to see if you have an entry for the NT.
FInally got adb running on a different PC booting off a USB Ubuntu installation and followed the instructions in the post that Asawi recommended. After that, I used the repart.img file and restored it and it came back up. Now I have to figure out how to tell if the SD card reader is bad.
Thanks for all your help!
Okay, I don't normally post. In fact I always normally find solutions using the search, but I am out of options and at my wits limit.
I have an 8gb nook tablet which I loaded up with CM7. After I booted it up I reformatted the SD card to start fresh.
Upon restarting the tablet It would no longer boot into CM7 and would instead get stuck on CWM.
"No problem I thought, Ill just re-flash it from my SD card" But when I went to install it from SD card it told me
it couldn't mount the SD card. I rebooted and again landed in recovery which yielded the following messages
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I already tried the B&N8gb/16gb .img that restores the tablet to stock but that was a no go.
I then tried to make a bootable SD card using the CM7 alpha but that also did not work
After I tried to use the Ubuntu recovery to 1.4.0 but realized that it was only for the 16gb nook
I got what I think is ADB going on windows following this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474956
So I could try this solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513583
But I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to type into CMD. It's been 3 days. I have never been so lost and confused in my life.
Pleas kind strangers of XDA. Help me.
