I have installed Better Battery Stats and I see that EMAIL_SERVICE is causing a lot of partial wakelocks (I have 2 exchange accounts). Furthermore I see that "Android System" is using a lot of CPU (there are two in my battery stats, one that shows services as create video, usb settings, license stuf, self test mode, etc. and one that only shows "total cpu". The last one is using CPU, but I can't figure out what is actually causing this).
When I disable network access (so no wireless sync), the phone lasts 3 or 4 days on battery, but when enabled, the phone burns 10% of the battery per hour, even when it is not used (screen on)...
Anyone else who has this problem, and even better, anyone a fix for this?
I am currently on stock XWKF3/XXKE7/XENKE1 with hardcores Speedmod K1-T27. I also tried Darky's 2.3.4, but this has about the same battery drain...
Well my problem turned out to be the xda app. It was preventing my phone from sleeping.
Reinstalling seems to have fixed it for now.
Hi all, I am looking for a battery widget and/or app that will let me see how long my battery will last. I used to have something like this on my OG Droid and it learned how I used my phone. At first it was really bad but after a few days it learned and was really good at telling me how much time I had left. I haven't been able to find anything like it since that app. This was also back when then OG Droid was still on Eclair... Any help is greatly appreciated.

true. what I usually go by, in found to be true, is in balanced mode, battery drains about 10% or a lil less per hour with heavy usage. light usage, drains even less. battery savings mode, drains even less. Normal/full power mode, will drain a lil faster than balanced with heavy usage. I've pulled about 10-11% percent drain on Normal before. no matter whatnode you in, how much it drains is directly affected by what exactly you're doing and screen brightness level.
ill see if i can find a good one for what you all looking for though. I had some good apps like that on my Ipad.

In the teardown the capacity is shown as 25Wh, or 3380mAh. Hope that helped
If you do not have system tuner and battery monitor pro both by 3c from xda then you have no real info about what your transformer/prime is doing. IMHO.
the MAH is 3300 and I think 3380 for the prime. He also has a specific version of this for the transformer which takes into account the separate batteries when docked. I have been using them for a year. It will tell you the average estimate from use, the average estimate from current use, or the actual estimate from current use, and it will reset your battery stats file if rooted.
edit forgot. the system monitor will show what each cpu is doing, 2 for the OG and 4 for the prime
Has anyone else noticed that since we can see battery stats now with the .21 update wifi is eating most of the battery even more than the display.

Yea, battery is draining quicker compared to last Firmware. You can turn off WIFI during idle stage.. however, yea.. it's annoying.
yeah, i noticed this too. i even have wifi to shut off when sleeping and its still consuming 55% of the battery.
Maybe they boosted up the wifi signal strength a lot to compensate for the infamous poor wifi signal with battery drainage as a consequence.

Are you guys sure the stats are 100% accurate? I dont think that wifi actually sucks more juice than the display. Its the same on my Prime but its possible that the stats just arent that accurate. I have wifi set to disable when in sleep mode so i really dont think it makes sense that it takes up more than the display even in that setting.
Could be wrong though^^ My batterylife so far isnt really different than before the update - at least it doesnt feel different.
my battery life is still the same, which is great. wifi being a battery drainer is nothing new. top 2 battery drainers isbthe display(how high you have it) and wifi. I have my wifi on 24/7. never cut it off and I still get great battery life. I tried that cutting wifi off during sleep setting but I hate it. it always takes the wifi connection a little will to come back connected once display OS activated again. so I just leave it on. another thing to check also is to cut your background sync times down. you don't need email be checked and sync every 5 mins. cut sync off on anything you know you don't use much. saw goes for app notifications also. I got tired of my Facebook going off all the time, so I cut it off. it'll just update when I open the app up. or doing a manual refresh.
WiFi drain seems to be a lot higher since the update.
I got slightly over 5 hours of surfing and messing around undocked last night. WiFi used over 65% of the CPU.
Sure I was getting closer to 8 hours before.
Running in balanced mode

I have noticed a huge difference. Last week my prime would only lose 2% battery over night. I updated and haven't changed any settings. Now it drops roughly 40% over night... I'm not happy to say the least. I'll try turning wifi off tonight and compare the 2 settings.
(By the way, I'm rooted and stock everything else)
Glad I am not the only one. I just got my TP a week ago and updated to .21 and sure notice that battery life has been awful. Using it for web browsing, loses 10% in about 40 minutes. And turned off seems to drain the battery as well, more than before the update.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I do not have drain over night.
I charged it full, and after 9 hours in stand by, battery was 99%
BUT the BlueTooth draines the battery when the Prime is in use.
The settings suggest to turn it off, if you do not need it.
21WW seems fine for me about the battery usage otherwise.
Do not expect the usage they were talking about in the specs.. it's not true!

WiFi analyzer shows no difference in signal strenght, and my Prime has been RMAed at ASUS and had changed parts (WIFI/BT issue), it did not help either.
Hey everyone,
I tried searching on here but couldn't find anything similar. I thought I'd post here as its battery related.
For a start, my Prime is completely stock with the .21 firmware. Earlier today I noticed my Prime battery monitor hadn't gone lower than 93% for AGES! When I went into Settings - Battery, it said 93% Unknown. I obviously guessed it was a lot lower than that as I had used it a fair bit most of the day. I was using it about 2 hours ago and it suddenly switched off. I guessed it had run flat so I put it on charge. I've just tried to switch it on and nothing!!! It's been charging for a good 2 hours or so.
Any ideas??? I've had it less than 2 weeks!!! :-(
Thanks in advance.

Since last update I get more than 20% / hour of battery drain doing web browsing at 50% screen brightness ... it was way better from what I remember when I was on .11 and .15 ...

Sounds like your batterystats.bin file is corrupt. If you are rooted then navigate to /data/system/ and delete batterystats.bin
Reboot and Android will create a new version of this file and hopefully it will display stats correctly.

I am running .21 in power save mode. I have noticed the following. Using OS Monitor I found that "System" process was using 65%+ CPU resource all the time. So I turned off/stopped as many things that I could no effect..accept..un-mounting my SD card.
Once I un-mounted my SD card the "system" process time dropped to less than 10%.
Since then my battery has only dropped 7 points in 14 hours..based on my "Battery indicator" app.
So why would my SD card eat up battery life by consuming CPU time???
So, many claimed with the .21 update they started to get per app battery usage data in the Settings / Battery... I do not
I still only see system services. I run my Prime for days on end no battery charging and have several apps I heavily use. None show up in the Battery - I only ever see the same system services (wifi, screen, tablet idle, android system) when I should be seeing all apps listed that use battery.
What about you? Screenshots to prove your seeing actual 3rd party apps & not only system services?
This is all I see or ever see.. not yet have I seen 1 other 3rd party app like you see on ICS based phones where there can be 5-10 apps listed.

Mine doesn't update. The dock battery being dead might mean it doesn't call as charging via dock anymore, thus updates. Or it could be old data.

The device isn't considered to be on battery power until all external sources of power are disconnected or run out of power. This is why the per application stats don't update when its connected to a charged dock. Once your dock runs out of power the stats will start working as normal, even if the prime remains in the dock.

So I think the take-away point here is either
1. this setting is flawed as the way it works implies you need to use an app for days on end to even get it to show. I can provide screenshots of ICS Battery data that shows 5-10-15 apps listed out n phones... some of you are barely showing 1 app and only showing system resources. We "should" see all apps - not just ones heavily heavily used. I use select apps for sometimes an hour at a time, never seen them show up.
2. that wifi reading is a serious issue. If it is hogging that much battery, again, the Battery setting is flawed in such a way it cannot account for anything else to make 100% as wifi is owning the battery

Android often doesn't show things that have used little battery time. If your device is up for days on end that it seems perfectly normal for it to mostly show system stuff. If you use a very wide spread of applications that all use a lot of battery, then you'll see more, but otherwise seeing mostly system stuff is pretty much right. My ICS phone works in exactly the same way.
Yep, I get the point. But then tell me.. under what scenario would you see anything else on this tablet if wifi is eating it all?
The last screenshot showed a reading that was 2%.. and other than that, nothing but system resources. What in the hell did it take to get 2%? I use some apps, like Talk for a hour at a time.. never seen it in the Battery settings.
Does that say something about system resource usage? Something about how this setting works? As it is, it is about useless as really, nothing will ever get reported other than system resources, so what it the point?
Yeah, I haven't seen any 3rd party apps listed in mine yet. My Prime stays docked 24/7, and also goes anywhere from three days to a week without a charge.
I've just separated it from the dock and am streaming Google Music with the sound turned off. I'll let it run for an hour or two, then swap over to something like ShadowGun and just let it run. I don't expect to see any of it in my battery stats, but I can hope that the battery stats somehow work, even if in a strange and twisted way.

I would be curious what you get.. will you get a paltry 1-2-3% usage. And then that will disappear 15 minutes later from the settings? Not that you want heavy usage per se, but more to the fact of what is the point of the setting if all you will ever see are 2-4 system resources and wifi hogging the percentage so nothing else can get reported.
As it is, it cannot really give any valuable or useful info. Nothing but system resources and IF something else is shown, it will be wiped from the history within the hour likely if you keep using your tablet.
It would be nice to turn off wifi and run some apps to see if their percentage builds up and is seen in the Battery settings BUT given most apps need internet connection, that might be hard to do.
Web browsing, being a Ram intensive task, is a major battery drainer after wifi and screen brightness. still decent battery reporting considering I was running @ 1.6Ghz.
But notice.. again, 1 app. 1 app here or there.
Yet wifi is hogging the % usage. Again, that says something about the wifi but if your expecting to see any apps here reliably and see their battery usage, forget it.
System resources will hog it all and you learn nothing about what apps are doing for battery usage.
So, again, there is nothing of value in this setting as all you will see is system resource and if you happen to look at the very right time, you MIGHT see a 3rd party app here or there. Might.
Heck I have apps that run all the time watching for events to take place - like Tasker - I would expect to see that. But nothing. Wifi is hogging it all.
Well, the apps are showing up. I just connected to the keyboard and will let it stream another hour, then disconnect it again to see how the stats are then. I'll come back by later in the day with some screenshots and my results.
I guess I'll do this with WiFi always on, then later on tonight or tomorrow try again with WiFi off after a reboot or whatever else will wipe the battery stats.
This data reported in this Battery setting is like a speedometer stuck at 55mph.
We can see all of the other speeds around it, we know they can and are used and exist, but we are only really ever shown 55mph. So what's the value?
So I ran Hulu plus for 2min and checked Battery.. It shows on there. Then I started Netflix for about 5min and checked Battery... Nothing. Hulu Plus app isn't there anymore either. So if I get this right 3rd party apps that drain battery are the ones showing up..?

Hello, I have a question regarding my battery usage.
I tried leaving the phone with very little usage and see how long would it last. So far, it's been about 40 hours of mostly idle usage and the battery is at 13%.
Is this what others are getting?
Possibly alarming, about 80% of my battery usage is by Google services. Is it bugged or is it actually using so much battery?
Additionally, I'm using cm10.1 with syriah kernel. I manage my startup programs to avoid most of the bloat and I haven't tried bbs yet, unless this is abnormal.
Will attach images in a moment.

Seems normal to me. I'll try to explain why.
First of all your phone has been on for almost two days which is good battery life.
Second of all when your phone is in an idle state the only things or almost only things being used by your phone is google services. Nothing else is being used.
Which means that although google services use the lionshare of your battery, it's completely logical.
Screen uses 0%
Apps use 0%
Bluetooth uses 0%
Try for example to leave your screen on until the battery dies, then you'll see:
screen 90%
and the remaining 10% divided by the rest of the things running on your phone.
So if nothing besides google services is running on your phone, then it's only logical that's what using your battery.
Hope that this sounds logical to you.
