Well, welcome! I loved the Prime, and found the vibrator issue to be very minor while I waited a month for Amazon to get me another... Absolutely HATED the original Galaxy S (Vibrant), but the SII looks pretty nice... Not sure I can shy back away from HTC at this point though, lol
Ordered mine on Christmas night from BB.com. Received it on the 27th. Got the dock from the same place about 2 weeks later. love them both.
Galaxy s2 is hands down the best phone i have ever had. It is rooted and is as smooth as silk. I consistantly get quadrant scores over 5000

mine is also amazing. Slight backlight bleed which is only noticeable at boot us the only thing i have to complain about, and thats only coz i was looking out for it.
Battery life is amazing, speed is amazing, screen is amazing, dock is amazing. U was charging my gnex using a usb cable plugged into the dock! Flipping awesome! I discover more and more new stuff to do with this thing every day! Gonna try a ps3 controller in it next.
The only way to actually test the GPS is to completely disable wifi. Google uses all wifi networks in range to find a location. Google has mapped almost every wifi-network on the planet, and even if you just disconnect from your own, it will still use the wifi names around you to find location, even if you arent connected. So to test GPS, disable wifi completely. Then we will see...

Not even you, or people with similar posts 'got a good one'.. you and people like you just have a VERY high threshold for putting up with garbage.. on side by side tests your tablet will be the same as what others call 'broken'...
One man's 'fine' is another man's 'broken'.
Those of us who won't put up with shoddy crap, KNOW how broken the TFP is.. people who say it's fine are just trying to justify their purchase to themselves.. no-one likes to think they have been screwed, but there are some who will go to unreasonable lengths to convince themselves and everyone else that 'their's is fine'.. when it certainly isn't.
How any times have you read a post saying, 'yeah, well that's broken, and that doesn't work very well, and that's not up to scratch'.. then finish the post, I loooove Asus... that's not a reasonable action for a person to take.. that's pure self deception.
Install this, disable Wi-Fi, run the program and post a screenshot when you get a fix.

Really like the positive vibe you bring over here..
For what it's worth the Transformer Prime is usable, it just has a few drawbacks.
and you're only going to find them once you heavily began to use some of it's components that has those defects.
but they can go unnoticed if you're a light end user.
Come to think of it, this across the board on any electronic device. oh well. I still think this keyboard dock sort of stinks at times.
Although it's typing quite normal right now as I make this post. No random type cursor jumps.
I'm already on my third unit and this one again has massive screen bleed, creaking screen and stuck pixels I wish I had a golden ticket aswell.
aren't the screen bleeds common because the device uses the cheaper "Edge LED" LCD, vs the more expensive "Backlit LED" LCD? or am I thinking of ghosting.
I'm not much of a screen guru so I think I'm my own light user case as far as detecting any screen problems. So right now, I feel like I have a golden ticket as far as that category goes.

I don't feel like im putting up with garbage or trying to justify my purchase. I've used it for a week now and I still have another week until BestBuy won't let me return it for full price. So how broken is the TFP? As far as I am concerned, GPS is the only known issue.
In my opinion, tablets are not laptop replacement yet, maybe in the future but not yet. When tablets have 500GB or more of storage, 1GB or more of dedicated video card, 4 GB or more of RAM and a Core I5 or better of CPU then you can talk about heavy use. In the meantime they are for light use.
So I guess I'm lucky too. In my case I don't have any of the mentioned problems. I don't know about the GPS because really I don't use it. I had the Galaxy 10.1 and never used the GPS neither, for that I use my SGSII. I sold the Galaxy 10.1 and bought the TP and after a week of using the TP I'm very happy.

IMO tablets are no different than laptops and desktop computers, there's high and lows on specs in both areas. I think the Transformer Prime with it's pricing and size would fall into the mid-tier range tablet.
the higher end tablets often 12" or larger are much more comparable to laptops. While the Prime is more like a netbook.
Samsung Series 7 Slate
HP TouchSmart Tm2T
ASUS Eee Slate EP121
IBM ThinkPad X220
DELL Latitude XT3
and those tablets aren't doing so well since they cost too much, their Windows OS is not touch optimized like Android/iOS and they offer abysmal battery life, because there hardware is not energy efficient as the mobile CPUs in Android/iOS tablets.
But most of my gripes with the TFP are software related at best, I just think the default browser and the options ICS have on the Prime for the keyboad dock could be better, and the browser interface could be much more optimized had it been designed better. This is not a harp on the hardware, but more a harp on the software.
Now I'm actually hoping ASUS will offer an optional Windows 8 upgrade for it's tablets when Microsoft finally get their act together and produce Tegra 3 based Windows 8.
Coming from an iPad 2, the Transformer Prime has exceeded my expectations for a tablet. Get a gps lock, wifi works fine...great experience. Couldn't be happier.

But does the GPS work more than 30ft deep? (cmon, ya knew it was comin)

Have you not seen the thread about wifi not working with bluetooth for many users, myself included?
GPS is worth *****ing about because under no circumstances is it acceptable for a second generation device to be missing features from a previous device for the reason that the engineers didn't foresee that the 100% aluminum back would block signals. This is a well documented issue in the tech world which is why everyone has included a plastic panel/piece wherever they stick the antennas. The sheer stupidity of it is mind-boggling.
Also one of the points of Android is Google Maps and the ability of devices to do more and supplant single use devices like a Garmin GPS. That's why Garmin implements those terrible bluetooth and mp3 features in an attempt to compete in the current marketplace. I personally have a Garmin because I work for Papa John's and the Verizon outage in Q2 2011 illustrated that I can't trust a cell phone provider. For a full week I had to use a map .
Now the GPS issue for me is that even in the middle of my street with no obstructions I still can't lock to more than 2 satellites no matter which way I turn/hold the device. In my paranoia I was wondering if those bastards at LightSquared were testing their LTE in my area.
Either way what is the point of *****ing about *****ing? People don't have a right to be mad when a 500$ device doesn't deliver on what it promises? There is a difference between something not being ideal and not working altogether. More to the point this is an issue that should never have made it past the R&D stage. Did ASUS think that people wouldn't care? But for me the current deal breaker is the lack of bluetooth. I need my phone for other stuff, so it's not the device that is ideal for music in the car, so I usually use my tablet but it is 100% unusable in my car. Someone at ASUS is currently working the problem but while I am hopeful I am not all that confident that the problem will be fixed.
Non way I would ever buy a tablet from pantec not even a phone or anything from them!

The funny thing is I just purchased a tf101 on eBay and then I won a Pantech Element four days later. I must say that I was completely surprised by the performance of the Element, it benchmarked a whole lot better than the orig Transformer and it is super smooth and great to work with, I was surprised. If only I would have waited on my transformer purchase for a few days I could have sold the Pantech and gotten the tablet I had really wanted, the Prime (although, I must say all the GPS and wifi issues everyone is reporting is discouraging).
I never would have purchased a Pantech myself, but after getting it for free I must say that I would actually recommend it to people based on the performance and the price. I hear Pantech actually makes high end devices in Korea that rival LG and Samsung, but the US just gets their lower end phones.

The AMOLED screen does rock - black being jet black 'n all, but it's not as bright as the Prime's SuperIPS, 550nits compared to the 500nits of the galaxy. Samsung like to overdo the contrast/saturation to make it look more impressive, but actually it is a bit more unrealistic than the Prime's colour output.
PS the Pantech is UGLY!
Is it just me or does anyone else think that ASUS knew about the GPS WiFi issues prior to release and just thought
You know what lets take a chance and release it anyway
My thoughts round this are more believable now the TF700 has been announced and physically shown.
How long does it take ASUS to build a fully finished and working TF700 ?
a week ?
a month ?
This has been on display at CES
Now the Prime has only been on sale worldwide for a few weeks
So why would they totally redesign the back of the TF700 if they weren't aware of any issues with the GPS / WiFi etc. with the Prime
Sounds fishy to me
If it aint broke why all of a sudden fix it !!
Does anyone else agree here or is it me just thinking about the whole fiasco too much.

I can appreciate your comment on Just Wifi, but the GPS is pretty much an issue on all Primes (i.e No GPS without Wifi - pointless GPS solution)
But Why redesign the Beautiful Spun Aluminium Back from the Prime with a Plastic window on the new TF700 if they didn't think there was a problem with the Primes Design.

Everyone has the same issue, not everyone notices or or has the same wifi situation. We're talking about physics. Your prime doesn't alter the physical properties of aluminum.
Did they know? Absolutely. Did they gamble on early adopters? You bet.
The proof should be either in the driver configs on our primes or in the fcc certification application.

Yes they knew about it and yes they shipped them out anyway just like any business they just want to make money and took their chances I don't know how well it's paying off for them.
Non-conspiracy theory reason for different backplate: 3G version planned, which requires an RF window.
My HTC Desire HD is pure Aluminum back and inside a case mate tough case never had any problems with GPS that Fasterfix from the market didn't fix. I am rooted on my Prime now on ICS with Prime Time just got my Prime today as well so haven't properly tested GPS. If any issues I will be trying out Fasterfix and setting it on UK pool as that's my location and seeing if it improves in any way.
Might be worth others giving Fasterfix a go too if your rooted.

ASUS certainly knew about the problem and went ahead anyway. Many posters here explain why; "my $500+ plus tablet does not function the way I expected it to but it's still awesome and I didn't need those features I paid handsomely for anyway...and so on and so forth". Too many rationlizations for a subpar device.
It's even more scary to think ASUS DIDN'T know about the problem. If that's the case they need to get out of the business.
Maybe not before release but for sure before they told us about it. It is clear from the new uglier, more functional design of the 1080p tablet they announced and apparently have built.
I still want to see a gps test with the back removed before making a final judgement on Asus statement about it.

The prime.behaves pretty normal GPS wise. IMHO. I don't have one yet but every device with agps has some problems when not connected to wifi/3g. Its the same with my dhd when i don't have a signal. But phones usually have a signal to assist GPS.
Most wifi only devices don't have GPS at all because of that. I think its cool asus put it in anyway. If you didn't knew that before the purchase and are unhappy because of that return in it. What's the big deal?
They knew but GPS was not their primary design goal! If you want that functionality use your phone or buy a standalone GPS! The ipad 2 wifi model doesn't have GPS either!
There goal was to give you a slim light tablet and be the first to the market with a quad core! With an exceptional battery life! (GPS slaughters battery life BTW!)
Remember you get to chose 2 good cheap or fast!
Asus seems to have chosen cheap+ fast!
Apple on all their products chooses good twice as their products come out almost 6-12 months after other. Equvilant products but they do not have issues at all! But you pay up the butt for them!
But remember its better to buy something that does one task perfectly (a garmin) then buy something that does multiple tasks well (the prime!) stop *****ing!

And what do you have to say about the poor WiFi performance? Was that also not a "primary design goal" for their WiFi only tablet?
The original transformer, which I owned, did quite well with GPS. I don't know why we take a mistake from ASUS, giving us less functionality than the earlier model, so lightly. The idea that a manufacturer can toy with the spec's of a product AFTER they start selling it and not get called out for it is a dangerous precedent.
So I've been patiently waiting for income tax money to get a new tablet, been reading a lot between the tf101 and the tf201 and I want a tablet that will have good development, I know the prime is too new and it has his fair share of issues including wifi and GPS, I can care less about GPS but I need wifi so as long as I can get a decent wifi signal so I can seat in my couch or my bed and pickup my wifi I'll be good, now the light bleeding from what the videos I've seen on YouTube wouldn't be a big problem but I don't know if I would be able to deal with dead pixels, now to my question , is there anyone that upgraded to the prime from the transformer and do you feel like it was a mayor upgrade or do you think the original is still a mayor contender? Is a $100 difference so is not that much of a difference in price, but from reading how Asus might have released it prematurely makes me wonder if I should go for the older more stable with more development transformer tf101.

The Tegra 2 in the original is ancient. Considering how fast the mobile market moves, it is like buying a Pentium 4 for a new desktop. The Tegra 3 is three times as fast between the CPU/GPU- ready for 2012.
With that said, with a Prime you go in expecting to deal with a dead GPS and weak wifi range. It is the trade-off for a modern amount of power.
My only personal issue was slower wifi in my bedroom (the edge of my network), but I love my Prime so much my solution was just to upgrade my router (Cisco e4200, best 2.4GHz consumer router on the market). Now it works great.

Thanks for the reply! I'm probably getting it and if those are my only issues(wifi/GPS) then everything will be great, just hope the development here will grow soon and increase the choices of roms and stuff.

I'd say the OG TF101 has much faster WiFi speed as range from the access point increases, the Prime is thinner and lighter, and can be purchased with higher storage capacity.
If WiFi speed is the most important get a OG. If GPS is the most important get neither IMHO but def' not the Prime.
I would personally say getting a Tegra 2 now, would be like getting a Core 2 Duo instead of an Core i[357]. Now the Wayne and Grey based Tegra chips expected later this year....those will make a Tegra 2 look like a Pentium 4 versus an i7, if wikipedia is to be believed.

I see what your saying, and I don't care about GPS, I just want to make sure I get a somewhat solid tablet, as long as I can get wifi from like 5 feet from my router in my living room I won't complain, and I guess the other issues with light bleed and dead pixels is all luck, and there's rooting and recovery here for it, wish there was some custom honeycomb roms to play with like the revolver or krakd roms for the tf101, hopefully we'll see some development picking up for the prime soon, gonna see about swinging by best buy and testing one out while I wait for my tax money so I can just go buy the one I decide to go for when the money comes.

While some say GPS is no big deal, look at the amount of whining about it. I want it for alot of reasons. It automatically updates weather to the location, etc.
I purchased mine Less than two weeks ago from Best Buy. I have NO GPS at all. mine is a BCOKAS134452 serial number. My wifi isnt that bad actualy but i feel it is lacking when compared to my rooted nook color. I will try to open mine tonight and make one mod to see if it improves, if not, it goes back tomorrow.
Im not going to exchange it. Im going to return it receive my FULL refund. Then Re-purchase another unit so i have ANOTHER 2 weeks, incase there are issues.
While some may not find this right. I have noticed some people have major issues 3 or 4 weeks after purchase. That is what worries me. Just my .02$
Now you know about some of the issues affecting some users. Now check out the link in my signature. The positive transformer thread. That'll put things into perspective. GPS is a widespread issue although some peoples do work. As far as wifi, this a very limited issue. Just check out the link n the vast number of different users posted in there n you will see a flipside. Which is what I'm on..lol wifi works great on mines

IMHO light bleed and dead pixels are a quality control and shipping issue. It's also the most common ground for trouble between both tablets.
One thing that alarmed me... while my TF101 fresh out of Microcenter was great: my Prime off eBay had a batch of wtfixels on the far left side and I was afraid that I may have to RMA. By the time I completed the initial setup stuff with my Google Account it went away and the pixels are fine in use.
I do consider the TF101 a better quality tablet but really, unless you do have hair pulling issues with wifi/gps, Prime is fine. I also think the sites more or less calling the Prime like the top or the most powerful tablet of the year are also correct enough. It just doesn't have a deluded cult preaching it's perfection.

Thanks for your input, I had originally thought about the tf101 because of how good is said to be for the price, but I changed my mind thanks to all of you guys and also from browsing thru the positive thread, I'm definitely getting the prime, can't wait for the income tax money to get here, it should be about another week.

Transformer prime is way better than the original transformer
Go for tf-201
So I'm still waiting for my tax money that should be here by the end of this week, by now I'm disappointed to say no prime for me, I've spend lots of time in the background here just reading negative posts and searching online and reading about rumors of discontinuation of the prime, whether is true or not, I think I'm gonna be patient and wait a bit to see what happens in the next couple of months, Acer is said to be the next one to have a tegra3 tablet, who knows who else throws one out next, and hopefully the tf700 doesn't take too long, oh well as much as is killing me to buy a tablet, I don't want to go backwards to the tf101 to feel I got a solid tablet, I want to feel about a tablet like I feel about my HTC hd2 , that is a solid device. I guess well see.

Here's the thing bro....while you're waiting, buy a prime to play with. Most likely you will love it and keep it but guess what if you don't like it you can just return it like so many people have or are at least threatening to. At least you have something to do while you wait. That's my opinion but instead of the buzz kill threads just man up and go buy one see how great it is.

GPS is NOT a feature of the Transformer Prime. Anyone who brings it up anymore are doing so because it was a feature, but they bring it up because it was then removed. You don't buy a tablet for gps, you buy a gps. The GPS module and antenna are crap in the Prime. You would crap get signal and accuracy even if it did work properly.
For example, you don't buy a PS3 anymore for the ability to install Linux or PS2 backwards compatibility. Why? They removed those features.
Thee major problem of the weak wifi is the fact that one of the antennas is not actually connected properly in some of the old and new Primes. This is a reason to not buy the Prime.

Here is my question, I'm looking for a really good tablet with great battery life and I wanted to get the Vibrant community's opinion as to which is the best.
Please refrain from posting about apple products I simply do not like apple as a company and refuse to give them my business.
I would appreciate it if in addition to your selection you could tell me your reason for feeling why its the best.
- Cheers
I picked up an Asus Transformer (OG-not the Prime) a few weeks ago at Best Buy for $399 (Bob Shute almost convinced me to get the Nook Color though). It was the 32gb on sale for the same price as the 16gb (so why not) + it has external, so i have 64+/-gb of storage. I had lurked in a bunch of forums checking out support, ROMs, rootable, "official" ICS and general attitude of the forum members.
When I got it out of the box it was running 3.1 and I had known that it had an OTA update waiting. Within 30mins of getting it, I had upgraded, Rooted and was on my way to being a tablet owner. It was real easy to do too. The battery life on 3.2.1 was really good. Granted I am not using it all day long but I was getting about 2-4 days out of it. Kids would play games, watch Netflix, I would surf and my wife would do her coupon spreadsheets (yes she is one of those ladies and we do have a stockpile).
Fast forward to the ICS update. We got the OTA update and for some reason there is an issue with the kernel and people are getting random reboots. I am not sure if it is just me knowing what I am doing from so many tweaks with this phone and past ones or I just got a good tablet, but I messed with the governors and it has been 3 weeks since upgrade and I haven't had one yet. Knowledge is Power. Felt you should be aware of that though. Battery life on ICS is outstanding. I get 4-6 days out of it easily. Might cut it down now that baseball spring training has started and I can stream live video to it.
Conclusion- A few things. The Transformer (tf101) is just as good as the Prime (tf201) and actually I think it is better b/c the Prime has wifi, GPS and other hardward issues, but its bootloader can be unlocked whereas the tf101 is still lock for now. Another things is that you have to remember that these are seconday devices to most people and some of the redundant questions you see are rediculous.
My suggestion is to lurk in the Acer, Transformer, Galaxy, Xoom forums and see what is going on in them. Plus there are a bunch of smaller tablets coming out soon with Tegra3, Quad-core, low price,...
HTH and let me know if you have any Q's and sorry for the long post.
what do you want to do with this tablet?
I know you said not to mention any apple products but...
seriously dude even the iPad 2 is better than any android tablet out right now. iPad (third generation) just killed everything else. I know you don't like apple as a company but the iPad is pretty much the tablet market, the only tablet one should be getting. You're going to regret it if you don't get an iPad...

Ill be using the tablet for school mostly. Ill have about 100 lbs of books that id rather not have to carry with me everywhere. Ill also be using the tablet for light gaming just to keep me entertained from time to time as well as serving to replace my laptop for day to day tasks. Granted i know not everything can be accomplished by a tablet so ill still have my laptop at my apartment but need something light and portable but capable so i was thinking tablet.
As far as no apple products, they seem to hate me, i touch one and they seem to break they dont function properly and im honestly not convinced that they are the best product on the market. Their Marketing department tries to convince you of that but i hardly agree. (i wont get into it i don't want this to turn into a flame thread) regardless thank you for your input.
Ive been looking alot at the Transformer and TF Prime as well as the 10.1 inch samsung variants, but since i have ICS running on my Vibrant id very much like to have it running on my Tablet, i intend to run stock for a while until stable versions of either CM9 or AOKP are released for the device since i will be using it in a more productive than leisurely role.
@ woodrube thank you for the length of your post i appreciate the time you put into your response
@junglerumble thank you for your input, tho i whole heartily disagree with you (to each their own)
does anybody have an idea of the android tablets that are coming out in the first half of this year and when? I want to get a tablet but not at the moment. I'm waiting till more tablets come out to make up my mind but it would be nice to have some foresight.

Transformers have the keyboard dock too with independent battery in case you want that laptop thing going on. I love my TF and am happy I bought it. There are a couple of us who have the TFs like Alex9090, Mveksler, Gorealmighty and Manus I think.

I used several different Android Honeycomb tablets, but gave up on all of them because I felt the software weren't advance enough for my purposes, so I got a Windows tablet instead. Then sold that and got the Galaxy Note (international version) which I think is the best consumer portable device made so far, since it acts as a phone and tablet, has the same resolution as the tablets (1280x800, and is even (much) faster than Tegra2, yet pocketable, has Wacom pen, can make phone calls and ultra fast GPS locking, awesome camera), although I didn't keep it since it doesn't support T-Mobile 3G.
Out of the Honeycomb tablets, I liked the Acer A500 and Toshiba Thrive most since it has fullsize USB connector, which works with flash drive and gamepads. I think the Asus Slider should be better since it has fullsize USB and keyboard as well, just a bit heavier. I do not feel tablets with Tegra2 is fast enough to handle 'higher' bitrates HD contents and MKV videos, although other purposes are fine, regular HD video should be okay. I also feel all Android tablets are overpriced for their present software features, unless at refurb price, if it were Ubuntu or some full fledged linux distro I'd be more interested. Which is why I think Windows 8 tablets will have some success, even though I'm not interested in Windows 8.
+1 OG Transformer. Great device

I want to thank everyone for their responses, after spending some time playing with the devices in store and reading through the developer forums I have decided on getting the TF prime, just seemed to blow everything else outta the water once all the tablets had 100+ apps installed and running live wall papers. Luckily i was able to find one at a local retailer since everywhere else was sold out.
I was so close (money in hand) to buying the Galaxy 10.1 but after reading this I decided on the TF201.
Darn near ever place Ive looked is out of stock though.
addition:
It didn't take much for me to switch. After this phone and its total lack of support, I try to stay clear of anything that has Samsung on it.
Thus far I have to say that my impressions of the tfp are extremely favorable so far I have experienced none of the recorded issues with the tablet save maybe the GPS but I have yet to test it outdoors the stock ics keyboard is far better than I expected on the tablet
I will update more as I have more time and experience with the tablet if so desired

I saw that due to the GPS issues they no longer advertise the tab has a GPS. Imagine if Samsung was forced to do the same for our phone's crummy GPS.
Id expect similar GPS to our phones. I ended up buying a real nice Tom-Tom GPS for my car so the phone GPS is bout always off now.

If and when it comes time to Root your device (I did it within 30mins of having it) You can use ViperMod and install Supercurio's OTA Rootkeeper and any updates you get, just open the Rootkeeper up and restore root. Handy little app if I do say so.
I recently purchased a Transformer Prime with the keyboard doc and I have no regrets. It's awsome. I've not experienced any of the GPS/hardware issues mentioned either.
Hey guys...so i had a galaxy tab 10.1 and its now in pieces (a heavy chair fell on it) but amex is going to refund me the $499 that i paid. I want to know if i should get a transformer prime or the iPad2.
I don't need reasons for the iPad2...just for this one.
Are the wifi problems still there? (i don't care about GPS)
I played around with it and i see that the lag is completely gone...is that right? (the galaxy tab had HUUUGE lag everywhere)
thanks guys!!
iPad 2? You need to keep up with your tech news son, the ipad 3 is coming out in like a week.

There are hundreds of threads about this^^ Anyway. In my opinion the prime is superior to the ipad in every way. And there is no lag. You cant compare it to the galaxy tab, it has a completely new chip and brand new android 4.0 on it Depends on what you need it for but 16:10 is just better in almost all situations. Unless you like black bars when you watch movies. It has HDMI out, an SD card slot, is thinner and lighter than the ipad, has a much better display, (IPS+ is really amazing, i never had a situation so far where i couldnt read the display, USB&full size SD card on the dock. And these are only hardware advantages. We just had a thread in the general forum: If you used android for some time you cant go back to iOS.
There are/were some people with radio issues, but there only a few - my wifi is perfect and the same as on all the other devices we have around here.
There's only a few reasons to get the ipad imho.
1. you need apple
2. there is a specific app that will only be available for iOS.
[e] before you ask, yes i think the prime is also better than the iPad 3. Yes it has a higher resolution but thats not making up for all the other stuff thats missing compared to the prime. again IMHO.
Get a Prime. End of story if you want reasons look at the thread in my signature called positive transformer thread.
Buy the prime - no question

Well it depends. to be honest. I've had the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Its my fathers now, gave it to him as a gift), iPad 2 which essentially i paid for it but my sis uses it regularly. But i just ordered the iPad 3/HD whatever (sold the iPad 2). But it really comes down to what you really need the tablet for. Is it entertainment (Movies, Videos, not gaming though) because if those are your basic needs i'd say TFP now or wait for the TFP Infinity. But if your basic needs are gaming i'd say iPad because there are plenty of more games out there for the iPad than Prime obviously.
thanks guys...i say the ipad 2 because its $399 now (you would be stupid to buy the new one)
i actually was mainly asking about wifi issues...this is rated 3 starts on amazon and that concerns me that that many people have issues...just wanted to make sure that the wifi works and i can use netflix all around my house. (5000 sq ft)
Amazon ratings for this device is flawed. Over a month ago we had several members and people who didnt even own primes go to amazon site and give prime bad ratings. Anyone can leave a rating there. Reason was because the bootloader was locked. So it messed up its rating on Amazon and it can't be changed.
Wifi n Netflix works great for me. Still possible to run into issue with ipad2 as its wifi is not that strong also and had several issues with it. Just Google ipad2 wifi issues and pages n pages of hits will pop up on it.

If you're going to use a tablet for mostly emails, quick internet browsing and netflix/youtube/videos/movies i would honestly say wait for the new asus transformer prime infinity which fixes wifi issue with new hardware i believe and a better rf window. Also with the 1920x1200 resolution your movies are going to look great... iPad 2 at my house roughly half yours (2500 sq ft.) Gets reception everywhere, but at the size of your house you might want to buy some wifi extenders or have two routers. If your going to get the iPad 2, also why not buy a used iPad 2 off something like ebay/craigslist? since you don't want the new iPad many others do and their selling it for pretty cheap. I see on a local site such as craigslist a 64gb iPad 2 Wifi only going for as little as 500 in pretty good condition.

No hardware change.
2. As to the rumors of a hardware fix for WiFi/BT dropouts, the actual fix is just ensuring that the hardware utilized in current units is performing to tested standards. Basically to ensure this level of compliance we are replacing components within the WiFi subsystem on an as needed basis and then testing the units before shipment.

I know the thread, but that was all speculation, and it came shortly after the announcement of the TF300 and Infinity, so some people theorized that it'll be using the hardware from those instead.

I don't need reasons for the iPad2...just for this one.
Are the wifi problems still there? (i don't care about GPS)
I played around with it and i see that the lag is completely gone...is that right? (the galaxy tab had HUUUGE lag everywhere)
thanks guys!!

From a price perspective, you can get a refurbed 16GB iPad 2 directly from Apple with the same warranty that a brand new one comes with for $350. So if you are looking for the less expensive option the iPad 2 would be the way to go as it is going to be about $300 cheaper (that is if you get the dock for the Prime). If you go this route though, you have half as much storage as the Prime and have no way to expand.
Personally, I love my Prime. I don't have any problems with my wifi at all. IMO the Prime is a better tablet overall when compared to the iPad 2 or even the new iPad. The Prime will arguably provide the best user experience, mainly because of the keyboard dock.

Not a valid comparison. I'd say they'll save $150, then have to buy keyboard (either way).

If you do not need to take notes effectively on screen by hand and you do not need Music production applications such as multitracking, amp and effects simulation for guitar and base then get the Prime, absolutely. Even with a few potential hardware issues the Prime is a lovely beast.

I cannot tell if you are trolling or genuinely believe this.
OP,the iPAD 3 is out, get it is you want an iPAD.
As for the prime, look into the new ones, as much as I love my current prime I will be looking at new ones when they come out.
Oh, and how exactly did you get AMEX to refund you your entire purchase price for a product that you dropped a chair on?

Believe AMEX automatically puts some kind of protection on items purchased with their card. Time to read your cardholder agreement.
