Just installed Froyo 2.2 yesterday and so far i like it aside from a couple things i miss but its sooo much faster!
Anyways somehow made my bottom bar disappear and now i have no idea how to get into my application page. I'm talking about the bottom part with the Phone icon, Application Icon, and Browser Icon. I think i might have held it to long while i was messing around and it went down and now its gone. Been trying to bring it back for awhile now and cant find out how.
p.s. I tried to post a screen shot of my phone but it wont let me due to being a new user.
Froyo has the ability to hide the app drawer bar and notification bar by swiping up or down on the home screen go to your home screen and swipe down like you are browsing a website should pop back up.

awesome! thank you so much for the quick response!
Is there anyway to add icons to that? I noticed that if i hide that then i can put icons on the bottom but is there a way to add icons directly to that "drawer" as u called it
Of course. Just go to the app drawer and select an app. Keep hold of the app like you would to put it on the home screen and drop it down on the bottom bar. I believe you can scroll through the bar as well. I know for sure you can on Launcher Pro because that's what I use primarily.

What you have discovered is the new scrollable dock bar in ADW. It freaked me out the first time I opened it. By default, it is accessed by swiping up on your screen. This action is very buggy and only works seldomly.
How to change it - go to ADW Settings > System Preferences > Swipe Down Actions > Open/Close Dockbar. Now from your homescreen you can swipe down any where below your notification bar and access this scrolling dockbar. You can drag and drop unlimited apps in it. When you want your normal dockbar back just swipe down again on your screen.
Hope this helps.

I'm running touchwiz, and deleted the web icon from the app drawer. I have a web icon on my homescreen, but how the heck do I get it back into the app drawer.
How can I restore deleted icons in the app drawer?
Hey,
You can't delete the icon from the app draw without uninstalling the app. Since the icon is on your desktop then you have not deleted it.
TW allows you to organize/customize the app draw but there will always be the default setting with all apps. I have not used TW in a long time but, open the app draw and hit the menu button. If I remember correctly you will have options for custom app draw but there will also be the default, which will have all of your apps.

You actually can delete them, I know because I did LOL
You can delete it, by going to your app drawer, then hitting menu, then custamizable grid, then edit the grid, then pull the icon out of the app drawer and put it in your dock, now its not longer in your app drawer. Now put the icon from the dock into the trash, and now its gone!
I have a backup icon on my homescreen, but now, I can't seem to reverse the process and get the icon back into the app drawer
I guess the problem is, technically the icon is still somewhere is on my phone, just not in my app drawer! I want it back into the app drawer.
Sorry, maybe I was not clear. When I say app draw I'm talking about the default app draw. This display is not"customizable" therefore you cannot delete the icons unless you delete the app. You must be using a customizable grid.
You get the icon back by either using the default grid, or editing the customizable grid. Sound like you have the basics of the latter, just play around with. GL

Yes, I'm using the stock samsung touchwiz customizable app drawer. Trust me you can remove the icon from the app drawer, it lets you. The problem is, putting back in.
Yeah, SykesAT, you're incorrect. Give this a shot:
Tap "Applications"
Press "Menu"
Tap "View Type"
Tap ""Customizable Grid"
Press "Menu"
Tap "Edit"
Tap "-" (minus sign) on the apps that allow it.
Sadly, Sammy, I don't know how to get them back. Uninstall/reinstall an option?

The minus sign is uninstall, and it only allow unisntall not system apps. Web browser is a sys app and you shouldn't be able to delete it. Are you sure is not in the dock not the desk?
When you place an item in the dock, it desapears from the drawer...
You can always do a factory reset...... Not fun but it is something.....
Ok so messed around with it some more, and I thought I had trashed the icon from the dock. It appears it didn't go from dock to trash, it went from dock to app drawer, but out of alphabetical order so I wasn't seeing it.
So here is the new issue:
Techinically, I guess I want 2 copies of the icon, meaning.
I custamize my grid, I take the web icon OUT of the app drawer and put it into my dock. Meaning now the web icon is in my dock, and there is no longer a web icon in my app drawer.
However, I would like a copy, meaning I want the web icon in both my dock and app drawer. Anyway to make multiple copies of the icon? I know you can make multiple copies of icons on your homescreens, but seems like touchwiz doesn't give me the option. Either only lets me put it either in the dock or the app drawer, but not both places at the same time
I used desktop visualizer to create a second copy. Why not use a secondary web app like dolphin hd or opera? Just a thought....
I am running GB 3.5, and then ADW Launcher 1.3.6 Standalone. I was using the stock MotoBlur/GingerBlur launcher 'home screen' for while I was at work...and the ADWLauncher 'home screen' for all my apps, entertainment, not at work stuff. Whenever I hit the 'home' button, I would have the option of 'ADW.Launcher' or 'Launcher'. Yesterday, the sensitive screen accidentally marked the check box for 'use by default for this action'. Now I am stuck in ADW.Launcher, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the original launcher with all my work settings on it to come up. I'm sure it has to be something really simple, but I'm at a loss.
Anyone know how to remove the 'use as default' checkbox so I can get both launchers back?
thanks

Lol......cos' there's more than enough room on an Atrix. Don't think this one tiny app is gonna put storage over the edge. Also, if you end up trying different launchers, can make changing between much easier. Take a chill pill. A lot of people use it!

Clearing the adw defaults doesn't work at least not for me. If you install any other launcher you need the home switcher app or someone similar to be able to select motoblur again. Or uninstall the other launcher.
Clear Defaults is greyed out for me...says no defaults are set. I will try Home Changer app.
thanks
do you have titanium backup? if so, make sure that when you scroll down to "launcher", it is not frozen. If it is, just click on it and defrost it. then clear defaults and press home. voila!!
I went the 'Home Switcher' route, works well...and I have so much room on the Atrix I'm not worried about space....have 300+ apps right now, still running smoothly. It would be nice if the Home Switcher became part of the 'long-press' search button menu. Is there a way to do that? I know I downloaded an 'AutoRotate Switch' and a few other things that show up there. Does that have to be done on the development side, or can I somehow move Home Switcher to that menu for easy access.
Thanks for ideas, I always come to xda for the best solutions!
EDIT: So I added 'Home Switcher to my drop down notification menu using Bar Control, and am happy with that for now. I'm still curious about how it works getting things to long-press search menu though. Now that I have this quick way to switch Launchers, I'm thinking of adding a few more, like SPB 3D. Whenever I haven't been to the default launcher in a while, it takes a while to load, which leads me to believe it doesn't always stay active eating up resources while not in use. Anyone have any experience having 3 or 4 at the same time, and the impact on performance?

I have TB, so am I understanding correctly...I can freeze whole Launchers (all setup) if I won't need them for a while...and then un-freeeze them when needed...with everything returning as before? I've only frozen a couple things before, just testing it out...never a Launcher though.

This is why I mentioned Home Switcher. I had 5 or 6 launchers at one time, always switching back and forth "playing". I love my toy ........... I mean Atrix, and the launcher bug does bite until you find one or two which you will stick with. So many, and so many ways to customize. I never saw any performance hit with multiple launchers myself.
I think this may be a bug..or maybe i just don't know what i'm doing..which is highly possible. So your suppose to be able to rearrange the apps in the apps dock..whether your in "All apps", "Frequent", or "Downloaded". If you long press on any of these buttons the view changes to "Press and hold icons to rearrange". Well none of the icons show up for the apps to rearrange!
Kinda pisses me off...are you guys seeing this?
I've never known it to be able to do that with Sense.
Who said you could rearrange the apps in the drawer?

One would assume that you could if the feature is present...well kinda present. This is my first Sense 3.0 device so I don't know if its been available on any other devices.
i think that is supposed to mean you can rearrange the all apps, favorites, recently used icons.... useless...

I don't think you can rearrange the apps, just the 3 "categories" on the bottom. IE if you want the app drawer to open to your favorite apps by default, click and hold the 'star' icon and drag it to the L of the 'all apps' icon.
if you have the app drawer open, and press the menu key, you can sort it by Alpha, and 2 date sort option
Maybe you were thinking of the BB Storm

No it doesn't work like that. Has anybody tried this? I looks pretty obvious what "they" were trying to accomplish.

What part doesn't work for you?
I just long held and moved my star/favorite icon all the way the the left of the bottom bar. Hit home, then hit the app drawer button and the star/fave icon was highlighted and there was only one page of (presumably) my most used apps.

Sorry, that does work. Guess those the "icons" that they are speaking of rearranging, although a bit misleading. But if the feature isn't there..then its not there.
I have ICS 4.0.3. and I want to know how to close App?
How do you know for sure this App is closed, without having to go in Settings and close it there every single time manually.
You don't.
Android handles management of apps and will close them when it needs too. It will also pre-launch apps so they are ready to use. So no need to worry about closing them. Just go back to the home screen or whatever and don't worry about it.
If something is misbehaving you can go into your Settings > Apps find you app and hit Force Close, but that should not need to be done often. If you do then find a different app.
Even if you do this to "close apps" Android will probably just relaunch them in a few minutes anyway. You just don't need to "close" apps. That is a traditional PC convention and does not translate to Android.

Click on recent app tab, find the app that you wish to close, swipe left or right to close it. Love this feature so much.
Open the recent apps button at the bottom (3rd from left and looks like 2 boxes) and then swipe the app you want closed to the left or right.
Edit: Crap. Lol someone beat me to it

Pretty sure that is just a list of apps you opened recently. Swiping them off just removes them from the list, and doesn't stop the application from running. You can test this by swiping it off then going into your Settings > Apps. For me, the app is still running even when swiped from the list. Also things stay there even when an App has actually been forced close.

LOL. Yeah, when I first saw this I was kinda confused by it. I know how Android manages memory and apps, so I didn't understand what it was for: especially with prominent placement on the System Bar. I guess they just felt they needed something for people used to closing apps.
This would be great for people that run 3 or 4 apps all the time since they would not need to have them on the Home screen or go to the App Drawer.
Android does a good job managing memory, so you should only need to close apps that are having problems. This can be a hard transition from the Windows world.

Now this isn't necessarily true.
I played w/ this a bit and put the Task Manager widget on the home screen. On some apps, if you remove them from the recent apps list, the task disappears from the Task Manager maybe 5-10 seconds later. Now while I realize that not all running apps necessarily show up on the Task Manager, I've noticed that if an app/process is ended on the Task Manager, it is no longer listed under running apps in the settings.
And when you use the Task Manager to close certain apps, they'll still show up in the Recent Apps list but instead of showing a proper image of app activity, it'll be just a blank black square. When you tap that square, it just opens the app as new.
I used the app called system to verify and swiping does close them....awsome.
