[Q] Browser mobile issues - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I don't know is default browser from ASUS or Android anycase problem with it is that all websites are showing mobile version of website and since we have 1200x800 I want to see natural full website.
How to achieve that ?

you can request for a desktop site from stock browser settings. though this change only works for that session. i could not find a permanent way of doing this.
i shifted over to dolphin hd. love the gesture support .

ICS+ browser is a free market app.

Found this in the q&a section. Type about:debug in browser then settings/debug/UAstring. You will then see the option to change to desktop. I just tried it and it seems to work but will need to do further testing to see if it will stick.

The ICS Browser+ app is available here. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus
Tried all the other alternative browsers but was still having a heck of a time with Flash on one of my roommate's favorite sites. The about:debug trick seems to reset upon reboot or exiting the browser. Browser+ makes the desktop agent stick permanently.

How do I download from ASUS web site?

So I use the default ICS browser to navigate to the support section of the ASUS web site and I want to download a PDF manual. Tapping the usual link I'd use on my PC yields no useful response. So, what to do?
Thanks,
Bye.

I had the same problem trying to download the ICS-update. Don't understand how Asus can have such a crazy setup so that their own products can't download from their webpage!
Anyway, I solved it by using Opera Mobile, then I could click the links on the Asus website.
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it is kind of weird that their web browser does not fully work on their support web site.
Bye.

laptop/desktop are still the largest user base for web.
it won't be so soon till they are "tabletnised"
also some flash sites typing they do not prompt the softkeyboard on android causing you unable to type without a hardware keyboard.
and YES opera is the BEST browser for downloading links.

Cannot stream from nbc.com

Can you guys stream any nbc.com full episodes? I used to be able to. What format do they use now cause my brothers new ipad can stream. I wonder how many other sites are gonna go this route. I'd hate for this to happen as this is one reason I went with the prime.

Using Overskreen browser works fine. Opera mobile doesn't seem to work. So more then likely a browser issue.

What about your stock browser or ice+? I cant get neither to work.
Funny, I figured stock browser using request desktop site settings would work but I just tried it and no go, which is unusual. Even HBOGO works that way. Also tried Firefox and same thing on nbc. Not available for device.
I tried it on the Boat browser. The stream plays with sound and audio when the show starts then 15 seconds into it the video stops but the sound continues. If I switch screen size then I get video again for another 15 seconds. It is like they are injecting something into the stream that is messing everything up.
From what my brother tells me nbc.com uses quicktime on the iPad or quicktime can interpret the video or something to that effect.
Just for grins I checked abc and cbs and they both play just fine. I have User Agent set to desktop.
works also on Dolphin HD but does not on stock browser. Says "It's not currently available for this device."

That's interesting I didn't think it would work on dolphin and not stock. I'll give it a try

Good launchers and web browsers for the TF300T?

Well I've been trying to find good tablet launcher but all I can find decent is Nova launcher. Any recommendations? Stock lags a bit when multitasking so looking for something efficient ^_^ and thanks in advance . Hopefully this would be useful to other noob members like myself.
I'm also looking for a good browser that don't force close and flash videos can fullscreen, so far the only browser that lets me fullscreen flash videos is stock but it lags sometimes and annoys me
I'm not rooted just FYI I'll be waiting for fully stable CM releases later on ^_^

I like nova launcher the best, although apex is popular among Galaxy Nexus devs for some reason. But both have the same features like ADW themes, folders and whatnot.
I'm now using the go launcher hd, it's completely free and it's much, much smoother than the stock launcher.
I have never use nova/apex, what's the major difference between go launcher and nova/apex??
I haven't used go launcher hd but Apex and Nova are like an enhanced stock ICS launcher.

Yup I'm using Nova.. Apex lags when on power saving mode... lol kinda dissapointed my g2x tegra 2 under clocked to 750mhz doesnt lag with apex.. then again custom rom/kernel
Im a bit skeptical on current unlock/roms available ill wait till they get polished to have as daily use ,I dont like to keep updating and changing roms so often.

Didnt feel like making new thread for this. Changed thread name also and edited first post

I've been using ICS Browser+ the last couple weeks for my browser. Happy with it. Like a modified version of stock browser. Feel it has more customization, more stable and I get fewer wait/force close notifications. Flash works fine with it.
I'm pretty happy with go launcher HD , but haven't tried anything else besides stock.
Dolphin will do flash.

Dolphin was my first choice and it did not do fullscreen flash videos but gota say I'm impressed with icsbrowser+ it simply works and its fast most stable i have seen yet for my tablet
I recommend overskreen it is 2$ but what it does is really nice and worth it for every tablet , it stays on top of any screen or app etc and u can resize it how you want its prety fast toobut it wont handle flash vids fullscreen when needed. Sure most of these browsers will fix that common problem eventually.

I honestly just use the stock launcher. I have nova and adw installed but don't really like them. Adw is too much and nova is ok but the ASUS widgets don't look right. That opinion will probably change for me later on. For the browser I really like how chrome shares of everything with my laptop. Thought about giving browser + a look though cause I do like the stock browser. Ics did a good job with everything almost to where the second launchers and browsers aren't really necessary like they were in the 2.2 days.

I agree after the build.prop mod the stock browser is the best and most stable. As far as the launcher nova and apex for some reason when running on powersaving both launchers kinda lag

I've been running with just the stock launcher really, haven't looked into alternative launchers yet.
Been using Dolphin HD for a while since I wanted LastPass integration, but before I did a factory reset (unrelated issues) it'd crash a lot with the latest version, hopefully that was just a random issue. It's fairly good otherwise and LP support through a plugin is very nice.

Dolphin cant handle fullscreen on latest firmware and my stock browser is actually being way faster than any other browser.. I'm honestly astonished by how its performing after the build.prop change. Only browsers that can handle fullscreen right now is stock and ics browser+ ( based on stock)

Thanks for the tip! ICS browser + and Browser2ram is a good combination. I don't understand why Asus left out the option for setting the useragent in the standard browser.

Since I'm new to here and just got my Tf300 today... What particular build.prop mod are you referring to? I do plan on rooting this thing soon so knowing what you are talking about would be great

If you searh the development section you will find it. But be wary as this can brick ur tablet if done wrong, I assure you u will haveno problems if follow steps correctly and keep backup easiest way to do it is after ur rooted , read the thread and understand how it works before u modify anything

Favorite browser?

I'm wondering which browser you guys are using on your Transformer, and why?
I'm looking for a browser that looks good and is intuitive to use with the keyboard.
For my part I'm liking Dolphin Browser, especially because the adress/tabs bar is hidden when you're not using it. But I'm not entirely pleased because I don't have the "return to top" button in the bottom right corner that I have on my phone, not sure why, but it makes it a it of a hassle to use.

I really like firefox when using the transformer with the keyboard attached, it's fast and I've synchronzed it with my desktop's firefox also. I feel it smoother than the stock browser and chrome.
When using it undocked, I use chrome as I love the zoom when you click on a zone with more than one link to improve accuracy
I prefer dolphin HD when not using the keyboard
I use Chrome all the time except when watching Amazon video.
lucky u have the dock
i use firefox last version all the times. smooth and speedy
I use Chrome almost exclusively. Love how it syncs with chrome on my desktop.

I use Maxthon Tablet HD for browsing and xScope Pro or the built-in browser for downloading.
If UC Browser ever makes one for tablet, then that would without a doubt be my number one mobile browser.

I've been using Chrome, Mostly. But I sometimes find myself using Opera or Firefox. I've been most imporessed by how much Firefox has improved since it was first released.
Pretty much always chrome. Love how all my bookmarks from my desktop are there. I used dolphin on my phone and it's also great but chrome just has more features.

Personally I am partial to chrome, but I do like the quick controls feature of the stock browser.
Boat
Will sick to dolphin
Click THANKS button if u agree
Will be honored.

I Just Want a Browser Which Does The Basics Well

For me, a Browser needs to support Flash, have a good speed dialer(which can be set as the home page), a good bookmarks manager, a good password manager and if it is fast as well then I'm happy.
Other than the Boat browser, I'm finding it quite difficult to find many browsers which meet these basic requirements.
The well known browsers like Chrome, Dolphin, Opera etc. have all abandoned Flash or don't have built-in password managers or lack good speed dialers which can be set as the home page.
The only other browser that I've found which almost meets my criteria is the Maxthon browser, but that does not have a password manager.
I use Keepass as a backup in case my Boat passwords get lost and that can be used to copy and paste login details to browsers. But for some reason it does not work with the Maxthon browser.
Are there any other browsers besides Boat which does the basics well?
I use the AOSP browser, and floating browser occassionally, but AOSP browser for all other things.
Have you tried Naked Browser or Lighting Browser

My 2 cents, Get the ocean browser , Amazingly smooth ,
Even maxthon does the job well , but ocean is amazing with its pie interface
Is there any chance on enabling the desktop version the time.

Thanks for your suggestions. But I really need a browser that includes a password manager because I have a lot of passwords and the Boat browser seems to be the only browser which includes a good free password manager.
Like you wrote -> Boat Browser!
Found it yesterday and its just awesome. Small (3MB), Java support, awesome smooth flash support, memory friendly, highly customizeable!
Pure awesome!

Yes, get the app chrome UA changer. There you can set it once permanently to desktop and uninstall it
+1 Boat browser. You need to enable Flash support in settings after you install it.

Have you tried Ocean browser? Very smooth on the Nexus 10. Not sure if the password management is as robust as you need but give it a try. Mine works with flash player 11.1.115.27.
