AFAIK the problem with photos in xperia lineup is not the compression. but the method of noise reduction that is blurring too much detail. To change it basically we need to hack the driver.. Which is a bit more advanced for us to do..
Oh..I understand
with the hope that sony will solve the problem with ICS
thanks

Can anyone provide me Best Camera Setting for Taking Pictures and HD Video ?
With the stock Camera App, not any other replacements
As i have seen, the 5Mp pictures on the Neo V are barely 256-500Kb(MAX)
Is there any knows tweak to enhance it ?
Thanks for all your replies
And on CM7 is there any way to disable the auto focusing beeping ?
Its annoying xP
Im am ARC user but i will answer
1. Im using automatic scene, it work well on my arc or touch foucus settings
2. on arc 6mpx work up to 1mb, camera libreary is hard and difficulty do edit so answer for tweaking is NO, many ROM devs have problem to even port it to work, not to improve.
3. Try and search in settings of camera, i only know to say that
I am old X10i User, and missed all its manual features in Neo V,
but here are some suggestion disable touch focus, use steady hands and try HDR Camera App. you will get some good result with it

hey how are u on the stock camera app on a cyanogen ROM ?
use manual settings with spot metering..and tweak scenes according to your needs... stock cam gives poor quality images when the light is low

1080p Video Recording in 20mbps!
Increased Video Recording Quality
Rebuild Camera App with 0 Compression For Better Performance
0 Compression on JPG Images.
Increase size cap of Images.
Improved Quality of Images.
Added Experimental 1250 ISO mode (Thank to krogoth)
maybe this could be done in Neo with some things? Has same MP size but don't think it is the same camera though. Someone knows how to edit these files and compare some settings?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533238
If that can be ported, it would be awesome to us neo /v users.
Sorry to say it but it can't be made:
1) 1080p recording (and playback) needs a dual core processor, so that excludes any Xperia from the 2011 line.
2) The image compression, quality, etc, is coded inside libmmjpeg.so (I think), those are camera libraries made by Sony and they haven't released their source code yet (most likely never will), so without source code it's almost impossible to tweak anything.
If you want to know more about Neo camera compression and why it can't be done read this thread.
Interesting :-o
I would like to do some more research on it ! And I think its possible!
Scratched from my Xperia Neo V !
If 1080p is a no go then atleast a better image quality of picture would be nice damn sony!
Well, the camera driver from ICS has no compression, so instead of porting it or researching something that might be really difficult I'd suggest switching to an ICS ROM or waiting about a month until Sony releases the official ROM.
Hey, can any one post a video or Screenshot about the change in Camera app on Neo V?
I have a Neo and I am waiting for ICS. I wanna know if there any improvement on Neo camera or not.
Please kindly someone post some screenshot
Improvement?...Hmmm.
IMO, the ICS camera app is by far inferior to the GB one... Its choppy and less detailed...not to mention it takes forever for the preview image to cache.
So ice camera is better on neo?

Also jpeg compression is reduced, file size is 45-60% bigger than GB shots but more details captured means more quality
Video recording not as good as it was on GB
Screenshots attached
Screenshots from camcorder app
sony have done very good job about white balance! plus I think it takes images way faster than running on GB
So photo quality improved but video quality didn't improve at all?
Is there any tweak for fixing those problem?
Btw, Sony didn't add any Ics feature like timelap, live video effect, photo editor etc?
Has Camera Photo quality improved on the nEo V ICS updated?

Yes..actually
From 500kb size.. It was increased to 1mb-2mb.
Faster when taking picture without flash..
I suspect if we can later USE the camera app, lib and extended cap. from Xperia P(U) to our Neo(Neo V) which have ISO control =]
How can we know that Neo ics camera app is better or worse, if Neo ics final is not released yet?
Aren't we using a modded Neo V ics?
(with "any" Neo camera libraries)

would there be an update in camera quality on the wt19i or the mini pro ?
Hi everybody .
I am a user of ST15i with .431 stock firmware on it.
I put this question in a general 4.1.B.0.587 thread at first, but as this is quite specific, I decided to start a new thread for if.
So, this is my question to all users of the .587 firmware:
What changes have you noticed in the camera behaviour?
Many people reported that video recording is less laggy after the update from .431, but I am interested in a thorough analysis what was changed.
I am using the phone camera a lot. The reason is simple - the phone is non-stop with me.
In the previous stock ROMs, the camera software had problems with determining a correct WB which led to unnatural, ofte nwashed-out, colours.
The result images were oversharpened, the noise recduction was too aggressive with "smearing" effects and the images were too compressed.
The .431 software added zoom feature to video recording, but the camera did not refocus after the zoom feature was used.
Could anyone using .587 software check the camera functionality and describe the impressions in detail? Please .

2. Images load slightly faster.

You can optimize the camera Xperia S with some Mod or Script?
Maybe inspired by the file camera system Xperia T or V...
