Hello everyone. I keep losing 3G while browsing at random times, often consistently. Must exit dolphin HD and close app and restart it to reset connection. Here are my specs: running 2.3.7 - ed05
Jt1134 unbutu 2.6.35
Cyanogenmod 7.1.0
Build GWK74
I haven't flashed a nightly because I depend on my phone for work and school and hesitate to rely on a nightly build, would flashing another radio work? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Known issue with AOSP roms, especially CM7. Most people have the best luck with the EC09 modem.
Personally I never had data drop outs with Miui (found 9-16 and 10-28 to be the most stable) or teamhacksung ICS (currently ruining build 5). Anytime I tried to run VGB or CM7 the data drop outs would happen.
Thabks for the reply, I tries to search for the link for downloading ec09 but can't limit my search to a specific forum for some reason, making it difficult to find. Do you know where the radios are available?

RE: Sorry mods just saw someone else made similar thread earlier in General in reference to GSB. U can remove this if needed
I have several other Android devices for dev and play purposes but mainly just my Eris, which is my primary, I have lots of problems with XDA FCs and not loading the server correctly. Does anyone else have this issue? Or have an idea why. It really doesn't matter which ROM. I'm using either. I don't have premium yet, every time I go to upgrade I'm broke but definitely gonna upgrade. But that shouldn't affect it.

Which rom are you running? I've had no issues using the XDA app with KaosFroyo v39 & GSB v3.5 & 3.6, but I saw that another user is having issues while running GSB 3.7??
Well now I'm running TheROM latest update no problem but various others including GSB various versions, Gin-sen-tazz, MacROM, I've been flashing a lot and even after JIT enabled for a while I get slow XDA. Not so much the past couple days on TheROM

Save yourself some headache and use the source, not some knockoff. CM7 is what you should really be using.

I keep wanting to switch from Liberty GB to CM7 for DX but everytime I look at reviews it says camera/camcorder don't work, youtube don't work, & GPS maybe.. That review was from June 17th.. Anybody got a up to date review on that ROM..

Nothing wrong with "plain CM7", but Birgertime's version is hardly a knockoff. If it weren't for him, we'd still be using mute/unmute on calls in CM7 and GPS would still not work. Many of his fixes have been rolled back into the official CM7 for Vibrant.

check cyanognemod.com forums for the device, and see what people are saying about it.
however, since you posted this in the vibrant themes and apps section your chances of getting an answer go down... significantly
if you really want to you can go through the change log http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=cdma_shadow
or go through all of the cdma_shadow commits on gerrit http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,st...yanogenMod/android_device_motorola_shadow,n,z

actually the gps fix was done by karl hegbloom, Roman pulled the commit and put it into his build after Atin passed on it (there is more to the story and some more tweaking was done by all parties)
but here is the link for gapps

No intention of knocking any of the other Dev's here at all. In most cases that "I've" seen, ROMS built off of CM7 which already has issues of its own, tend to have more issues than not. I haven't tried any other GB ROM other than CM7 so I don't have any experience with them. I do know CM7 has worked perfectly for me so far, and I do know most of the problems encountered are from the end users.
Cheers
EDIT: Is phiremod even Birgertime's ROM? It's also built off of CM7 #74.

Am considering KI8 but holding back - is there any point if ICS is round the corner?
I can't find much solid info on when ICS will be available for the S2... Anybody know if we'll see it inside of a month or so?
tia!
Surely it will depend when the source code is released? That's assuming they do as they didn't with honeycomb
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
ICS isn't even related yet, i would imagine the sgs2 will get ics, how quick is anyone's guess.
Team hacksam will work in it, but it's a whole new version and will take time for them to port it when then source hits.
They said they wouldn't release the honeycomb sources to stop people putting it on phones and giving everyone a bad experiance, we ics is gingerbread+honeycomb we should get sources again.
Again, how soon, no one knows, depends how much has changed, aka how hard it is for the cm guys to port, or how fast samsung are.
So go for ki8, you shouldn't need to wipe between stock roms versions, i hear it's supposed to be faster than ki3.
Goodness knows when the next leak will be.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
for me there doesnt seem much point in going for Ki8, not because ICS may turn up but because every rom thread ive read based on it seems to be quite buggy. Im sticking with Ki3 until something comes out that adds something new
I havent used KI3 so I can't compare.
Im using KI8 and havent stumbled over any bugs.
Device is fast, stable and smooth, even when underclocked at 800 using setCPU.
Using chainfires rooted stock KI8 kernel.
Best battery life I've had on this device so far. Have frozen the usual apps tho.
My opinion..worth it.

With all the kernels and releases coming out, what is the general consensus on when ICS ROMs will be considered stable or feature-complete?
Was the recent i777 leak what developers were looking for to complete/optimize ICS ROMs? Or are we still waiting on i777 kernel source? Is Entropy's kernel a long-term solution?
Just wondering when to flash.
Thanks forum.

But I remember being schooled about "oh we need i777 kernel source before we get ICS" whenever I inquired. We don't seem to have i777 source, but i9000 is good enough?
Let me rephrase my question, how much better will the current ROMs get when i777 kernel source is released? Will we see an AOSP ROM?

I have yet to find a single bug running Shoman's rom. Your mileage may vary, read the thread et cetera but if you're asking when to flash I'd just go for it.
+1 on Shoman's ICS rom. It has operated flawlessly for me.
I9100 source is what we needed. We're only a little bit behind I9100 now. I9100 ICS has some nasty stability problems, I'm hoping to fix them before releasing DD for ICS. I'm working with gokhanmoral and a few others on it, it's not I777 unique.

SHOstock ICS rom is amazingly stable and already in 5th release with more on the way
CM9 now has nightly builds for I-777. I fell in love with CM7 and am really liking the official CM9 nighty builds so far.
ICS leak
The ICS i777 leak, which has been bundled as a cwm zip without bootloaders
is working good for me with only a few minor bugs
alarms not working
wifi only scans after toggle
battery stats graph crashes
I don't know how this compares to i9100, the ICS leak is the first I've tried.
It's stable enough for me to not look back and stick with ICS
I'd definitely recommend SHOstock2, it's head and shoulders above the ATT leak in a lot of ways and I haven't had a single crash or noticed any bugs since installing RC4.

I agree with the uclc2 leak, I had the following issues: Titanium Backup would not install any of my games+data and 1/2 my apps would not install. From what I could tell were any of the apps and games that I had moved over to sd card would not be restored under the leak. Than all of a sudden, my phone had locked up after getting most of my apps *from the batch restore missing apps and data* and quit even getting service when wifi was on and try to turn off wifi = lockup/reboot. Really weird after 4 hours of running it. Under SHOstock2 Rc4 everything restored properly and even upgrading to rc5 which gave back the multi toggle options and running very stable. Zero issue with it.
HTH,
Charlie
I've been running LilChris's phone-bricker with zero problems. Restored apps and data using tibu. Fast and smooth.

Been running the AOKP build from Ported Dev thread with no major problems. Only problem is that when I am listening to music and a text or notification comes in, the music volume is lowered by 2 notches, then when I try to turn it up it goes by about 3 notches. Its a balancing act to get the volume back. Thats my only grippe. I havent had much time to read so I dont know if the newer ICS roms have fixed that issue.
It seems like all the ROMs have a few little glitches. Is there an ICS ROM that can record video at 1080p? Or connect to a 5GHz AP? Or has HDMI/MHL functionality?
I'm switching to the first one that does all 3. I'd be really excited if we can get NFC too.

This is what gets me excited. It's always great to hear that developers from the android community are working together to bring exciting features to our phones. Thanks for all of your hardwork. Try lp3 stock from i9100 forum.. Flash with mobil odin but make sure in same flash you use entropy kernel and one of are modems. Then switch usr touchkey file.. Instructions in port section for file.

So, uh, whats the point of this thread? Why do we need another ICS thread? If this is truly different than the main ICS thread then it can stay open, but from what im reading, its not.

Yea I now see why the mods are so close-happy in this sub-forum. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to invoke a flood of ROM-reviews by starting this thread. All I had wanted was a general outlook of ROM-stability coming from official leaks and releases.
Longtime XDA flasher here. I've recently moved on to the GSIII and am going to be giving my beloved Vibrant to my 65-year-old Mom, who wants a touchscreen phone for easier dialing (LOL). She will not be using a data plan, so no need for working GPS, etc.
I'm looking for the most stable, fastest (without bloat) ROM available that will not cause me frustration when getting calls from her asking what a "force close" is!
Right now, I've got Chimera v1 on there. I was thinking of reverting back to maybe GB or even Froyo, but I really haven't kept up with the development in the past few months. So, any suggestions? Thanks!

I would definitely pick Bionix V 1.3.1 as one of the choices. That rom is amazing. I would definitely not go with ICS or JB since both are still developing and have bugs here and there. GB is kind of unstable. I would find a nice, stable Froyo ROM :good:

I agree with this ^^
I think that froyo would be your best bet,
There a quite a few stable roms to choose from in that department.
Something from Fish is always an awesome bet
bionix 1.3.1 BUT, there's a further development on it, its fishman's or fishmod Bionix 1.3.1. It is the most stable Vibrant rom, ever, imo.
Get a stable ROM that is either gingerbread or froyo

Agreed.
Even though ICS/JB is much faster and newer, froyo/gb is pretty simple and easy to use, less settings to mess around with, and its more basic to use than the newer versions. I had quite a though time just changing most of the settings in JB but in froyo/gb, it was much easier.
Being a smartphone, it can tough for even older people to use, but the only thing shes probably would need it how to use the touch-buttons, how to make a call, how to unlock the screen, and your good. Goodluck!
Stick with a 2.2 rom, don't want to leave mom with a phone that won't call 911.

Cyanogenmod dev team just fixed the 911 issue. All cyanogenmod based roms after today's date should be great for everyday use. Fisherman's Mod is good too if you don't use a lot of apps, it is a Samsung based Tom and the filesystem can create tons of lag.
