When did rational, intelligent people who actually understand software become "haters"? You're not having a contest that will tell you who has the fastest phone, you're having a contest about who can abuse how the benchmarks are written the most.

This is the best I've gotten from CF Bench. 4000+ with quadrant. Don't care what everyone believes about benchmarks. They're still fun to look at. And though the numbers may be cheated or flawed I still notice a difference in the speed of my phone with different tweaks benchmarks or no.

The current array of benchtest software out there for Android doesn't accurately reflect the user experience around application load latency nor "perceived smoothness".

"Though the HTC Evo 3ds dual core CPU clocks at a slightly faster speed at 1.2 GHz, the Thrill 4G makes up for its slower clock speed with its dual memory channels." Dual channels?
No 4G, slower, half the RAM. PERFECT!!!
More importantly, why the hell would you care? I can't concern myself with the Jones's or what they are buying.
Honestly? Have you used an LG phone? There is no comparison. It's not competition. Not to mention it might be cheaper to start with but consider the network its on and the price you pay to be on that network.......we win in the end.

Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
It may be $100 cheaper, but remember AT&T has a $325 ETF not $200 like Sprint. Plus their rate plans are a little bit more expensive.
Specs wise, it might be lower resolution but if it's like the 2x it's an IPS panel verses SLCD which looks better if it doesn't have the light bleed problem that plagued the 2x. As for dual channel memory, it allows the memory to be interacted with faster, but can't be filled if that makes any sense. So there can't be as memory hungry apps running, but it does help benchmarks for speed.
the LG has a TI WiLink chipset which is better (has more features like ANT+) than our Broadcom's.

I wouldn't recommend buying a phone solely because it has 3D support. Hardware design, software, the chipset, and a solid 2D camera are all specs you should consider when you are shopping for a new phone--3D is merely an extra frill at this point.

I know I'm probably being overly negative, but why does it seem like HTC has completely dropped the ball with the 3D features on our device?? An app like this would be awesome. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you would get it to work with the Evo 3D unless LG open sourced their code. The only other thing I can think of is if something like chainfire added 3D support for the Evo 3D.

Why would HTC be the one to 'continue development'?
HTC has already satisfied the expectations of the EVO3D project on their end.
The function of the 3D technology, as far as HTC's concerned, was to "Sell a ****-ton of cellphones."
They've accomplished their goal. They've opened htcdev, and released the code for developers who want to mess around with programming 3D applications.
I don't see HTC spending too much more time 'pushing the envelope' in 3D development for this phone. They've done their job, this project was a success, and they have way too many other handsets coming out all the time.
Just my 2 cents.

HTC dropped the ball because it was really just a gimmick to begin with...the real beauty of the device was the specs on it...not the 3D functionality imo...and even then, i really wish Qualcomm would step up the game with CPU architecture...Samsung's Exynos is going to eat us Evo3d users alive :[

Nope. The framework is different for the 3D on the Evo and the LG. You would have to rewrite the thing with HTC's framework to make it work.
Open any game up in the app and it will try to split the foreground and background and recombine both in 3D
In my experience converting anything to a format it was never created in has had little to no added effect. We'll see though if this is any different.
On another note, nice to see where all of LG's development was during the G2X fiasco.
I saw this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY7nHi2Lcbg
And it confirmed what I already thought, especially with the benchmarks.
What I'm asking is if through custom roms, overclocking and different apps (maybe opera is better than stock browser) the evo 3d can get near or beat a stock S2 across a number of these tasks.
Referring to the ROMs I mean GSM, but any CDMA input is also appreciated and beneficial to the forum.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using xda premium
If you were to run AOSP on both phones, there is a very good chance you would not notice a difference in performance (real world wise). Overclock a Sense ROM and you'll probably get the same effect as well. But comparing OC'd to stock isn't that fair.
I will 1v1 anyone in any benchmarks and CPU speed... Lulz

How old is that video? I had to unroot my EVO to take the new update to the 2.17 base and I must say it flies. I noticed the difference right away. And I'm talking about stock unrooted. The new base on a custom Rom like Meanrom makes all other roms on the old base feel like crap.

Sadly, no. 3D is not a very good feature - You have to be looking at it completely straight and strain your eyes just to see the 3D effect. It's not silky smooth like a moving hologram.
If you buy this phone solely for 3D, you'll end up being VERY disappointed. That said, everything else about this phone is great except for the fact that you can get the upcoming Evo LTE for $200 on a new contract. The Evo LTE looks like an insane beast of a phone. Insane beast.
Let me tell you a little story.
Actually, long story short, i hated my evo 3D, but the day i installed the official leaked ICS ROM things have changed. This phone is a complete BOMB, fast as hell, smooth as hell, no bugs, awesome 3d... man there is a day and night difference between gingerbread and ics and if you have the courage of installing a custom rom, this phone is hands down AMAZING and the best option! Heck, even the screen looks brighter on ics... i have fallen in love with my evo 3d... it's a joy to use it rather than a slow piece of **** it was with gingerbread... obviously the 3d isnt there in the ui, because if it was the battery would finish in half an hour!
Guess the story turned out to be pretty long but owell

Been on the HTC bandwagon since the 4G. The 3D isnt a huge jump as the 4G was when it came out but certainly this is the first phone I can keep longer than 2 years if I needed to. ICS brings out its potential greatly and I've even fallen back in love with the new Sense 4.0.
Also, if you like, you always run ASOP if you hate Sense. But its funny when you browse other phone's threads and see people wishing to have Sense on their Sammy devices. Makes you proud.

Lol excuse me, im far from a troll. Why would the guy just want opinions from people who like the phone. I owned the phone and I didnt like it and i told him why. Thats exactly what he was looking for the good and the bad. It has high res screen. Camera sucks on it, but it does do 3d pics and videos. Its fast but not the fastest and slowed down a lot bc of sense. Sense looks great but is a little too much for my taste. If your trying to get wii controllers connected its impossible with sense roms. Typing on it isnt as fast and responsive as it should be. Running miui on it makes you realize how fast the phone should be. But when i had the phone 3d wasnt working on aosp/miui roms so if u wanted a fast rom you lose features. I like the looks of the evo3d. I had both the black and white evo3d and more people are impressed with my white e4gt. Its bulky and heavy compared to my e4gt. Honestly the only thing i miss is the higher res screen and sometimes the 3d.

Ignore the 3D feature unless you think you will use it, as the quality is not very good when taking the 3D yourself due to it only being 2MP :-(
The rest of the spec is good, and with it (hopefully) getting ICS soon, improvements in the pretty bad Sense implementation we have now will be much improved
1GB RAM on the phone really helps out and was one of the main reason for me getting this over my O2X.
It's good for the money... but other phones now like the new HTC X are WAY ahead.
