I sent Samsung an email concerning the volume problem I have been having with my Samsung Galaxy S wifi 3.6. I got a reply from them telling me to connect to Kies and update to the latest firmware to sort the problem. However I have sent my SGS wifi 3.6 back to my local electrical store awaiting a replacement. My question is has there been a new firmware update in the past week for the SGS wifi 3.6? As about a week ago the firmware on the SGS was up to date according to the Kies software.
To be honest I am not at all happy with Samsung's customer service and their products

Wrong forum...
BTW, Samsung beats Apple. Samsung being the only iPod touch competitor (Not too mention CHEAPER then the icrap) I would say the SGP is pretty freakin awesome, especially considering its superior hardware.
If you ask me, samsung's customer service is pretty good, considering how big they are. I sent a bricked and rooted galaxy player in for repair, was willing to pay if they charged for the service (rooting voids warranty), but they had it fixed and sent back in 2 days, free of charge! And that was durring Christmas week, when I am sure there must have been Mega overloads! There software kies is absolute junk, though.

If there is not specific forum for Galaxy 3.6, where is the forum to publish topics about this device? in general Q&A?
It would be posiible to open a new section inside this?
Thanks in advance

Well in order for a new forum to be opened there would have to be sufficient interest in the device and so far I haven't really seen it for the 3.6.
I'd imagine yes the general Q&A because when people post information about their device in ANOTHER device's forum and other people don't realize the device is different then people brick their devices, etc...
Hello,
I would like too to open a new section for the samsung player YP-GS1 3.6 or merge it with its bigger cousins.
Thanks.

Looking to get a tablet and know I don't want an ipad, but do want a similar size screen. I'm leaning toward the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I currently have a Samsung Epic and have not been at all happy with the frequency of Android updates (we *just* got gingerbread OTA). Is it the same with the Galaxy Tab, or are the Epic upgrades slow because of the carrier (Sprint)? Sorry if this is a duplicate thread. I did a quick search but didn't find anything.
Samsung is rather slow. Asus was much faster in the past.
The Galaxy Tab will get ICS Update in Q1 2012, whatever that means Could be january, could be march. The good thing is, at least you're not carrierdepending (at least if you buy the WIFI version. but I think the 3G version isn't different).
The ipad and Galaxy Tab 10.1 do not have similar screen sizes. If that is what you want I suggest the Galaxy Tab 8.9 or 7.7

This is XDA, a forum for custom ROM devs and users. Nobody here (except some of the new folk who are afraid to root) cares how fast Samsung pushes updates.
Except this is the Q&A thread so the OP has a valid post IMHO.

Good of you to answer it then.
Here's an answer: Your question is subjective; some folks think that 6 months is fine, others think that we should have gotten it on the day it was announced. Here on XDA the vast majority of people will be running it long before the carrier releases it. Of course, there will be a few people here that will say "I don't want to root, when will the official update come?" and the rest of us will think "why are you here?"

Does anyone know when ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0) will be released for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510)? According to Samsung it was supposed to be last month but its already June and still no ics.

You don't have it yet? Use the "factory reset" while dunking your tablet in a bucket of icewater and the download will start.
Just kidding. Welcome to XDA. You're going to have a much better time here if you learn to use the "search" function before you post. The answer to your question is in many, many threads here. But since you're new, I'll give you a hint: nobody knows.

I agree with you,,Samsung never let us to know bout pics update''if you want feel the pics,,use in official rom
It was planned for May, but then Samsung decided to release Galaxy Tab 2 with the only major difference being ICS. So the planned update for the original tab was delayed until end of Q2 to help Tab 2 sales.

Please don't let another thread go this direction. If you want to tell this story, provide links to reputable sources in which Samsung (not some third party) has stated a release date for ICS for the GT10.1. If you don't have links, please stop making this stuff up.
At present there isn't even an official Samsung leak for ICS version of Tab 10.1, that's the reason why only nightly custom ROM's are available. Usually it takes still time after a leak arrived.

A single blog post? Come on now, if Samsung had promised something, don't you think you would be able to find at least one actual news outlet that carried the story?
Well... they did. And the blog post you linked to misquoted it. It took me 10 seconds to figure that out (hint: just google a line of the text). Nobody from Samsung has ever given a date for the release of ICS on the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Whether that's a good business practice is dubious, but claiming that they said something they didn't--and quoting a badly written blog post as proof--is lazy and increases the amount of misinformation floating around this forum...

Just for fun I keyed into Samsung Live Chat and asked when 4.0 was coming out. I got some robot named Arnold who basically said:
"I'm sorry to inform you that there is no information available on an update for your device. Watch our website and STFU"
So it's gone from UK/Ireland and then the rest of the world to "we don't know sh*t". Sigh...back to beating the crap out of my ADW launcher

Tempted. Seriously tempted. Here's my thing...I'm a big time rookie and a victim of the "rolling recovery" disease that is flying all over the place in this forum. I've looked everywhere on all of the recommended threads and have investigated all kinds of tidbits but can't find a whole lot of consistency with regard to a potential answer to my question. I started a new thread in the Q&A here about it and would consider that for SURE if I could just get my recovery back to where I can read it so I can do a simple root.
You're probably laughing at my green ass and that's OK. I'm just hoping someone will have pity on me so I can finally start playing with this thing the way I want to.

Wish I could flash a ROM for mine....
Unfortunately I'm on a Korean version of the 10.1
Developers are no where to be found!
I am not asking this question based purely on the specs but more based on the specs and the world these phones live in. What i mean is, both are proven, good, reliable Android phones. But consider the price you would pay for an unlocked contract free handset on Ebay or somewhere. Availability off latest software and updates etc.
I was looking on Ebay UK and seems you could get a good example of either phone for around £250. Now i hate bloatware so rooting on the S2 is essential to remove any crap useless programmes.. stock market prices app as standard...!! do they think we are all rich stock market traders!!!
Galaxy Nexus is pretty much bloatware free and i actually now run the F1 Galaxy Nexus ROM on my S2 and i prefer it 5000% over any version of GB or ICS.
So seeing now that JellyBean 4.1 is available for Nexus phones and may/may not ever appear on the S2 and if it does it could take a while. Google Nexus phones seem to be getting their Google updates pretty much straight away, take these things into account....
Does anyone think the Nexus might currently have gained an edge over the S2, maybe even the S3 and the best Samsung Android phone currently available?

well your worthless replies can be ignored seeing as you obviously couldn't be bothered to back up your answer with a few reasons why.
Worthless questions are doomed to get worthless answers. Specially when they are made in the wrong forum.
I think this beats both the Nexus & the S2.

S2 General Forum and you say that is the wrong one... a forum for 'general' discussion about the S2 phone. i think asking a question like i have counts as general and i am an S2 owner so i am asking from the point of view of an S2 owner.
So which would be the correct forum oh mighty forum god????
I didn't know you had a learning disability, my apologies.

But hey dude, keep fighting the good fight and ignoring guidelines and rules, after all the whole world is here to serve you!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
Okay I will tell you what I think about. My suggestion is, that more and more people want the newest Google experience. So they want the Galaxy Nexus. It´s a good device, but it has not the power off the Galaxy S 3. But you must ask, is it be needed? I think not! You can have a good OS without much power. Look at windows phone single processor and 512 MB of RAM and not so bad performance in many cases.
Some little points are very imported you may miss. The GN has no FM-Radio, "only" a 5 MP Camera and no SD Slot. So everybody can choose what is imported for yourself.
One point I miss... Do we need a update each time?
Thread closed
This isn't going anywhere we need to go.
First of all, to relate the question to the S III, let me just say that samsung-updates.com is where I get info on ROM releases to all samsung android devices, specially the GT-I9300 and GT-I9100.
Anyhow, does anybody know what's going on with them? Their site is returning a HTTP code 500 (internal server error) and they've been offline for several days now.
Yesterday (Sep. 12th) they were online for a few hours, and mentioned that they've been targets of hacking attacks. They wrote they were working with their hosting provider to find out what was going on, only to be back offline a few hours later.
So, does anybody have any "insider's info" on the matter?
If it is indeed hackers who are bringing their site down, my conspiracy theory point in 3 directions:
a) CrApple and their fanboys, green with envy that they can't update their firmware as freely as we can, so they hire people who actually know a bit about computers to bring down samsung-updates.com
b) Samsung itself, because they are getting way too many warranty returns due to dumb noobs who flash a ROM on their phones and end up bricking it.
c) LG, Motorola and HTC fanboys, for the same reasons in (a), but they do it themselves. Their envy is because they don't get firmware updates in the same pace we do.
Well you have answered your own question, so maybe you should try changing thread title to "Anybody want to join in a conspiracy theory debate?"
It went one direction []; down the toilet.
Seriously, does anyone know if the site is coming back?
Does anyone know the maintainer of samsung-updates.com ?
I'd like to know this too. I need to download a stock ROM for my i747 but I can't with this site down, I don't know where else to get it

Because samsung-updates.com is a lot better, simpler, more straightforward than samfirmware.com
Besides, samsung-updates.com's table format is a lot easier to use than samfirmware.com.
Anyhow, the site samsung-updates.com to be ok now. It's been online for 4 days in a row and that's nice. I hope they have solved all their problems, because they do a very useful job for us.
What isn't nice is that there has been absolutely nothing new for the GS3 for several days now. Samsung spoiled us, by releasing update after update several times a week, and now I am hooked on updating my Gaalxy S III (and my S II, for that matter). Too bad the JB launch date is still a few weeks away, because I could really use a fix right now (pun intended!)
It has been down again for a few days... hmmm...
Down again for the past few weeks in December 2019... hmmm...
Ha-ha-ha looks like I'm the only one concerned about this site.
Hello!
I searched this site for URLs and paths of where OTA update files from Samsung come from during download.
I found the server for HTC phones.
I also found the server for Google's OTA server - http://android.clients.google.com/... - it is used for Google's own Nexus updates and Samsung Nexus phones, as well as, for some reason, for updates for some other Samsung phones, especially if they are sold by Sprint.
Since there is no general Samsung forum, I thought I would ask here, I hope that is OK.
What are the server URLs and paths of Samsung OTA update files?
Does Samsung not have its own server like ota.samsung.com or like that? Does it actually use the Google server for each and every phone?
I cannot find a thread on this site that covers this.
If only some Samsung phones get updates from the Google server, why is that?
I have only noticed that for Samsung Nexus and Sprint Samsung phones.
Thank you, much appreciated!

Never seen an OTA url from day one of this forum .
Their was a method of downloading direct from the servers but that has been closed down .
Search CHECKFUS post.

Found something.
It is starting like this: http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/
Still begs the question why not all Samsung phones download their OTA updates from that location.

This, for example:
android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/sprint_samsung_l720.update_SPH-L720_MDL_CSB_user_RP_to_MF9_CSB_user_RP.zip
As was reported here:
http://androidromupdate.com/2013/07/09/sprint-galaxy-s4-ota-update-l720vpuamf9-stock-via-recovery/
It is for a Samsung S4 from Sprint. There are also other Sprint Samung phones that get updated via google servers.
What are the updates doing there instead of being stored at Samsung servers?

... there's always hope someone in the know stumbles upon this thread, and I wouldn't get that until I at least tried.
I've still not seen anything to prove its pushed out from "samsung servers" for other devices. And the question really adds nothing to development. It does nothing except attempt to satisfy your curiosity.
I think there are more important questions to be asked.

I did not find any general Samsung forum here at XDA, that's why I posted in the S III forum.
The official Samsung developer forum has virtually no traffic.
Would you please kindly direct me (link) to which Samsung forum you are referring to?
Then I might ask there also.
Do you mean at androidforums.com or at androidcentral.com or android.net or somewhere more applicable?
Thank you.

No a Samsung forum not XDA a forum that deals with Samsung products rather than a developers forum .As XDA is a developers forum then OTA is not relevant to most users .
The guy that built Checkfus is probably your best point of information regarding OTA .
Its fairly common to rent storage space from other servers if yours are overloaded and guess who has the largest number of worldwide servers .

Ah, that is actually a fairly reasonable explanation!
...and if you just have to ask on xda, since your evidence is about a sprint s4 getting updates from Google servers, the sprint s4 forum makes more sense than the i9300 forum.

Droiderino, thank you for posting the question, and what you had found. I know at this point the thread is YEARS old, but information can live forever online. Those members that tried to thwart this thread because they didn't find it interesting or useful themselves at the time don't seem to realize that the more information that is gathered and disseminated, regardless of who is uninterested, can help in ways they may not yet understand, both in the present, and in the future. Stay curious!
