As the title states, I discovered one red pixel. I hate it. So I'm looking for suggestions to get this repaired.
I'm trying software solutions for now. But can someone recommended a reputable service company that could repair/replace the screen?
I'm good with that sort of stuff and wouldn't mind repairing or replacing the screen myself.
Please and thank you! I found this discovery to be quite devastating and am the type to do whatever it takes to get the device to where I want. Thanks, again.

Damn that sucks lol I'm ocd when it comes to a dead pixle or lint on a screen protector . There is a guide on here to replace ur screen also ebay has new screens pretty cheap . You also could have Sprint fix it if you bring your own part maybe . I would do it my self if I didn't have insurance on it.
you might be able to find an app or video that flashes a bunch of colors a lot, I did that with an ipod that had a stuck pixel and it fixed it for me
I know I fixed one on a monitor by putting pressure wth my finger and turning the monitor off and on. Not sure if the touch screen stops that front being a solution.

You can do that, but they will know it was unlocked.

If you are going to send it to the insurance anyway, get everything you want out, then crack it.... i mean literally just drop it till the screen brakes, then take it to the insurance for a cracked screen, or sink it! ...not prove it was ever rooted!...it might work...what you think?

Worked for my evo 4g...I stuck it in a cup of water... Then turned it on and put it in the freezer
If you want to do it the "free" way pull battery... Insert into microwave for 10th seconds... And try to turn it on.... If it doesn't turn on go to sprint and say "it got warm on the charger and won't turn on"
If it does turn on try the microwave again (not long enough to melt anything just enough to fry the motherboard)
*note*
People have been doing this since the G1 days and has worked for people...don't blame me if it doesn't tho

You get a new phone from insurance.
If you got the phone within the past 14 days, they will swap it out for you with a new one free of charge.
You can also return it and get another phone like the ET4G.
If it's been over 14 days but within 30 days, you can still get the Sprint TEP insurance which replaces it with a new one. Pull battery during a flash and then it won't boot up. Give it to them and tell them it stopped working. They will replace it with a new one.
Even if it's been over 30 days, you can call and (politely) complain about how you bought the phone new and it had a dead pixel. They will send you a new one free of charge (you will have to send yours back but they will send you a new one)
These will all work with an unlocked bootloader since they don't check. If you want to be more safe, you can run 'fastboot oem lock' in a terminal while in bootloader, but it will say ***RELOCKED*** at the top and you won't be able to unlock it again.

Once you take the phone out of the box and turn it on, it is "used". Not sure why people feel they are entitled to a brand new phone to replace a used one. Sprint will give you a new one under warranty for the first 30 days if you have problems. Otherwise, you get a refurbished one to replace your used one.
You get a new phone from insurance.

No you don't. 80% of the time you will get a refurbished one.

Once again insurance fraud is illegal.
If the OP has had the phone less than a year, a dead pixel is covered by the factory warranty through sprint. Just unroot and take into a corporate sprint store, they will either fix the screen, or give you a replacement for free. Insurance is not needed if you are within one year from the purchase date. Insurance is only for losing/breaking/stealing your phone.
These will all work with an unlocked bootloader since they don't check.

Every corporate sprint location will check if your device is rooted. If it is, they will just ask you to unroot it, so he might as well just unroot before going in.
Thanks to a few of you.
I'm returning it for a new one.

How broke is it? If its just unresponsive then take it to the shop and they will send it away. If its smashed then your insurance will cover it. How do they know when it happened?
My touch screen went and I took it to Vodafone who in turn sent it to HTC and they couldn't fix it so they sent me a new phone. You are on a contract and you pay insurance. They have to help you. It's in your contract.
well the phone works and i can see everything on the screen but i cant do anything cuz touch doesnt work. my contract is with t-mobile and i went to the shop today and they said it might cost me around £120. my insurance company already rejected the claim cuz apparently they state in their terms and conditions that i had to report it within 24hours.
i wish if there is a shop where i can give them the touch screen and they can fit it for me

You didn't say the screen was cracked. Surely the insurance should cover accidental damage. If it doesn't what's the point of it. I've had my Hd2 for 14 months now and still love it. Cancel the insurance and put the money towards getting the beautiful machine fixed. Don't do it yourself because I've known people who know more than me and you to fook it badly. Good luck. Ps. Have you considered calling your insurance and (while praying that you don't get put on to the same person you had last time) saying that you cracked the screen an hour ago? This 24 hour rule seems ridiculous.
But yeah, only replace digitizers if you feel confident that you know what you're doing. I've done it for about 6 different phones and iPods, and I'd say that for 3 of those I've ended up having to buy more parts I wasn't expecting to pay for just because I made a tiny mistake.

If you actually made a claim then yeah, I guess you're right. Haha... I don't know. I've stopped with these things recently because I've been so busy, and I hate working on things that aren't my own in case I break something. I was considering buying a cracked HD2 and fixing it up for myself a while ago but the soldering put me off, it's all just a bit too fiddly.
So a couple weeks ago I picked up a new Galaxy Nexus and while it's a great phone I'm not totally satisfied with it.
I was going to go in and swap it for a rezound to play around with it a bit.
Now if I unlock it when I get it and decide to return it will I have any problems or should I be alright as long as I relock it?

You will have a problem if one of Verizon's tech's notices the unlocks...that's about it.
If they are anything like Sprint, you won't have an issue. It doesn't void your warranty.

So even if relocked there is still a way to see it had been unlocked? Is it pretty obvious or do they have to be looking for something?
If I relock my nexus there is no way for them to see that right?

Same thing. You get only ONE exchange for a different device with the upgrade you use.
If your opening a new line take a phone back and exchange it for the same phone then what? Or exchange it for another phone
I used an available upgrade on my account... I thought there was an amount of time you were given to where you could return the device/void the contract renewal?

This isn't right. You can swap once WITHOUT a restocking fee. After that, you can still return the device and buy a new one, but they will charge you a restocking fee.
I just upgrade recently and bought a Nexus. Didn't like it and got a Rezound. I was charged a restocking fee, doesn't matter if its your first time or not. The only real way to waive the restocking fee is if something is a matter with your phone, hardware wise, if it's cosmetic (don't like the color) they wont help you.
Oh about returning a rooted phone, they will never check. I just returned my Rezound yesterday b/c of the pink buttons and I got a new one. They didn't even check what I did to the phone, they didnt even check the phone at all, they just put it in a box, put a shipping label on it and that was it. 90 percent of VZW CSR don't even know what to look for or even know what rooting is. Maybe I lucked out with the store I went to but the employees there, wow, I don't know how the get jobs, they don't know a lick about phones.

Actually, they may check it, just not at the store you return it to.(wherever they send it to) I had it happen to me on an old WM phone and they tried to whack me full price of the new phone two months later... but I agree that its unlikely. If they checked every phone that got returned, nothing would get done and backlog refurbs.

Does any one know how long after buying can we still add Insurance?
I dropped mine yesterday and the screen is just black and there is a very miniscule crack at the bottom right corner. The screen doesn't turn on though so I am stuck. I bought mine on June 23rd and received it on June 25th.
I had it in an Incepio case but it obviusly didn't help, it was first time I ever dropped it. It wasn't even that bad of a drop just from table to floor.
I am wondering if I can add insurance and get it replaced after that.

its usually 30 days after purchase.
I wonder if they will check since mine is rooted lol.
Assuming you mean insurance (warranty is something you get for free and doesn't cover this sort of problem)... Whatever the duration is, I'm sure you're still within the window. But they probably will need to see the device first, since you would probably not be the first person to break their phone within that window. Verizon is a bunch of morons, but when it comes to money-making, they're not going to people do that.
I think your best bet would probably be to try to get third-party insurance, like what is offered by SquareTrade... http://www.squaretrade.com/android-landing1.
Keep in mind, whichever insurance you have, you'll still have to pay a deductible to get a new phone (or get your phone fixed). For squaretrade, it's $99.
EDIT: Ensquared seems to have a cheaper option. Both the up-front cost of the plan as well as the deductible are less expensive: http://www.ensquared.com/catalog/phone-insurance/1-year-phone-insurance-smartphone

you are not going to believe this, i thought i would try and get insurance anyways, and after a 5 min conversation with the CS t-mobile dude and him telling me i was over the 14 days for insurance, he gave it to me. I even asked if it would be refurbished or not and lade at Assurion said most likely new since it is so new. Now i have to wait and see.

Little backstory- I lost my ELTE on my way to work about a good month and a half ago, and when I got there, I was frantic and all kinds of worried. Called and called but to no avail. Called Asurion, payed the deductible and got my new phone the next day in the evening.
Snap back to now, and I find the phone scuttled in some crevice in my parking space at my apartment complex.
The pics show the damage, but this was all about a good while ago and I know its 'blacklisted' since I reported it lost, but the phone turns on and works, aside from the scratches to your fingers.
I don't know how the damage came to it (my car must have run it over and shoved it there), but the phone is here now... Poor little guy.
Question is, what should I do? Should I fix it? Turn it in to Sprint?
Are there any digitizer replacements out for this phone yet that aren't over $70??
Just thought y'all might get a kick from this. I sure did.

I lost my E4G before and could not find it. I called Asurion for a replacement. Subsequently, I found my phone (before replacement arrived). Called and tried to cancel. They said cancellation wasn't an option. Asked them what to do since I found my phone. They said keep it. Number was not blacklisted. Kept the new phone in the box and reactivated the old one. When all is said and done, I traded in the old one towards E3D and activated the BNIB E4G.
Bottom line, call Asurion, told them you found the old phone and want to return the new. They will most likely say no. Tell them you can still use the old, but you must get it removed from blacklist. Hopefully, they can help you from there.

According to the terms you agreed to with Asurion when you made the Lost Claim, that phone is the property of Asurion now. The terms say if you ever find a lost/stolen phone, you must return it to them, otherwise it's insurance fraud.
but... if you call them and tell them you found it, and they tell you to keep it, they are giving up the ownership rights to it. then it isn't fraud anymore.
It is very sad to see an android device like that. I much rather prefer it to be an iPhone.

I sure did.

So I cracked the screen on my evo lte, and I would rather have a cracked screen while I wait for the refurb than use the best buy loaner crap phone with horrible battery life. If anyone knows if I can keep mine please let me know
No. Theyll snatch it and charge you $50 for some piece of crap palm pre till yours comes in

I always like the Palm Pre. Web OS still does things (like Multitasking) better than any other OS. But you're right, they'll take your money and your phone and make you wait a week.

so what if I dont want a refurb and I destroy the phone beyond repair like break in half, since I had one bend already but that was within the 14 day return period? will they give me a new one or still send it to geek squad to see if it can be repaired?

They won't replace it with one in the store. They will give you a refurb and it will probably take around 2 weeks to get it in. I dropped my Evo 3d from 220ft the first week I had it and brought it back to bestbuy, there was no saving it. They gave me a loaner until my refurb came in. They will charge you a $50 deposit and then give it back to you once you return the loaner. You don't have to take the loaner if you have another phone to activate until you get your refurb.

Good question. I would think they would still give you a loaner and wait for a new one "to be delivered", but I could be wrong, I have never tried that.

Best buy never gives you your phone back. They take yours and then the same day they call their warehouse and have them ship a refurb to the store for you to get
They then repair your device and they ship it off to someone else.
