Thought I read of someone recent having the same issue and had to do a facotry data reset as a resolution. Will see if I can find the link to the thread.

I can't seem to downgrade from the cm9 rom to cm7
i wipe data/factory reset and the wipe cache partition. then i flash cm7 and it just keeps looping.
I am able to flash cm9 again though.

Flash a CM7 recovery, they use different recoveries,
Not trying to be An A hole, but you should've searched the threads and could've gotten the same answer, by not doing that your clogging up the thread

I just got my Vibrant a week ago and found out about this subject by reading the OP (opening post) in some ICS rom threads, so if read thoroughly the first post and find out allot info. Plus this isn't a question about themes or apps so its in the wrong section

My NOTE however is running a custom DaGr8's AOKP ICS ROM...I'm a noob, can anyone tell me if I need to roll back to the bloated-stock ATT Gingerbread? And if yes, HOW??? this is rolo racer thread..file is huge..follow steps..i bootlooped when it was finished ..dont worry..pull battery...3 button combo to cwm-hit factory reset..no need to cahe and davlik just factory reset and hit reboot..i just did this and worked perfectly..i am not a noob was just eager to help someone...i hope this helps someone
How long do you think it would take for the release tomorrow to become rooted? Im using T-Mobile, would 4g still work if I switched or do I have to wait for root?

How would you go about backing up and restoring contacts and texts/mms? Titanium backup shows the contacts and what not but it also says 2.3.6 at the end. I feel like restoring this 2.3.6 onto 4.0.4 might not work.
Also, I'm aware you shouldn't lose anything in the upgrade process but I want to factory reset and erase absolutely everything prior to this upgrade. I run a stock rooted ROM.

i wouldnt restore ANY system data from gingerbread to ICS
but thats just me

Yea that's what I'm saying. So is there another method to backup restore texts? I see a method to put them on the SIM but you can only do them individually.

Why don't you just install SMS backup from the market...that's what I use.

Hi there, I just started flashing a couple months ago and all is great. When I first started flashing I used cwm to flash a ROM. I would clear data then clear cache then afterwards flash the ROM and would work flawlessly.
Now as I try to do that (trying to flash a brand new ROM), Everytime I try to cleardata or cache on cwm my phone would freeze there, therefore I couldn't properly set up my phone for a new ROM.
Any ideas or solution I can do to fix this? Greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

what CWM are you using? I would odin CWM again, I use touch CWM.

Yerp use odin to redo your cwm, not flash another cwm.., this may fix your current issues with cwm,
what cwm do you have on there?

You will not lose anything. Unless you fubar the phone some how.
Yea I had the same issue about a month ago. The only thing that worked for me was using Odin to put me back to stock gingerbread, re flash cwm and root. Since then I've been able to flash and it fixed the cache hang up in cwm.

Hi everyone,
I just reset my phone through LGPNST, cuz I accidentally deleted the Rom trying to flash new Rom . I learned it the hard way cuz I had my phone stuck in recovery mode for a week.
Long story short I just wanna backup my stock Rom before I try to flash other roms. Can anybody suggest best way how to do it ?

Do you mean TWRP? Just back it up in recovery (TWRP). However, if you are using the recovery that freegee installed, I'd download and flash a newer one from the development section. They create much more reliable backups.

Yes it's twrp which I downloaded from freegee . I tried to backup from the system but it said failed for some reason which I dont remember. Here's the link for the TWRP that has been developed for the OG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019662. I was able to flash this to my phone via the instructions within this thread. I'm a noob as well to flashing, so can't give advice beyond pointing you here.

Thanks for all the help...Phew that did it! Should have said I had canadian phone! Now to pick a good JB version...
The whole reason for this was, I'm tired of waiting...I hate ICS. Had a Nexus before with JB (official) and really miss it!
