[Q] After update, only roaming - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello, I've an ace from Movistar (Spanish operator). It's free (I use it with Simyo), and now rooted and with CMW 4.0.0.9 installed.
Well, I changed the firmware to a 2.3.6 stock rom through ODIN. All worked fine but it didin't recognize my Simyo's SIM card as a Simyo so it only connect to Simyo as roaming (at signal it showed an R).
Is it normal, have I to do something after firmware update?
However, I restored the device with a backup I did previously with CMW so now I'm back with the Movistar firmware.
Another newbie questions... what is a deodex rom?, what is cf-root?

Problem with baseband

My Samsung S2 worked for about half a year perfectly with the leomar revolution rom.
Yesterday it stoped working. The Sim Card is no longer accessable and the baseband displays base band unknown.
So i reverted to the backups i created and it was no solution.
I tried cyagnomode and it detected the card everything, but i think in the wrong baseband version because it could not unlock the sim card (it took ages and there was no progress).
I swaped back to my original system and tried it again and also here i got no solution.
My Provider is O2 Germany.
I had the unbranded S2.
The original pda version was XWKE7
I hope you can help me.
I don't want to have an expensive mp3 player!
Type *#06# into your phone, does it display your imei number? If not did you make a backup of your efs folder when you started flashing custom roms?

Try this thread. Assuming you don't have a backup of your EFS, that is.

[Q] Data connection lost after flashing ROMs

Hello I'm having a weird problem here.
I'm on stock 2.3.4 (4.5.91) ATT, unlocked BL, rooted. Radio N_01.77.37P. CWM installed. I flashed Nottachtrix 4G and CM7, both excelent ROMs. In both cases I completely loose my cellular data connection after flashing. I entered the APN data each time, but no 3G, H, etc, symbol in my phone, and no data access. WiFi was ok. I even reflashed the .37P radio and no change. I'm in Movistar Argentina. Apart from this problem both ROMs worked perfectly well, but I went back to my stock 2.3.4 backup. As I'm unlocked I cannot flash the 2.3.6 OTA upgrade; so I'm stucked in 2.3.4. Any idea? Thanks in advance!
SOLVED: I reflashed CM7 and declared the APN and it is working now! I'll neved know what happened first time. Corruption when flashing?? Didn't test again Nottachtrix.
Bit of information: CM7 working ok on an AT&T Atrix operating with Movistar Argentina. Radio N_01.77.37P.

Debrand ICS 4.0.3 S2

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a way to remove the sim-lock on my friends S2; We tried flashing a "Generic" ICS 4.0.3 ROM via ODIN;
It wiped the phones branding as-such (All the Three bootscreens, apps etc) but did not remove the sim-lock and now has a weird thing in that its saying "Emergency calls only" even with the original sim.
I used the standard ROM "xwlp7" but didnt flash any kernel, could this be the issue?
Thanks
...
Chainfire has an app for it.

[Q] I9100T: firmwared the stock I9100 JB test ROM and broke it

Hi,
In my ignorance I loaded on the i9100 rom from Samfirmware XXLSJ, and it loaded ok. However the modem doesn't work. The symptoms are: connects ok to 3g network, however will not txt/make phone calls, the phone reports "not registered on network"
So, I tried flashing the XXLSJ JB again, this time with another modem, one that is supposed to be for the T variant, I'm in New Zealand by the way and use Telecom. Same deal.
No problem i thought, ill simply go back to an earlier official Telecom version on ICS. However, this now hangs on boot up on the S logo.I went back to an earlier one, that one also hangs. I went back to Gingerbread, that hangs on start up also on the S logo too.
So some questions:
Can i run jellybean and use some new modem?
If not, can i put it back to original 4.0.3 official firmware without it hanging?
I'm using Odin 3.07 to do the flashing.
Thanks in advance, i'll just be happy with a working phone at this stage :silly:

Sorted, ran the old firmware back on from Telecom, went into recovery mode and did a factory reset. all seems better.

not registered on network and no mobile data

Hey guys, few months ago I got the not registered on network issue after flashing 4.2.2 firmware
I think it changed the efs to v2 and is not compatible with italian modem firmwares.
so I tried:
- ariza patch, kernel and custom baseband modem
- odin flash with some old and new firmware
- kies initialize
- downgrade to 4.1.2 and update via kies
- flash modems
now...is out there a fu%&£*g genius that has another suggestion? lol
my imei is ok
Efs corruption is the usual cause of network connection issues, unless you have a backup then you will need an expert repair -to wipe the efs, flash a blank then code your imei and serial number back in.

i actually had this just today too. read somewhere in google the following, and it worked for me.
flash an aroma rom (i chose stock archi), tick the flash modem option in the custom install settings.
once flashed i got my data and carrier back. hope that works for you too
