I'm thinking of getting a Titan, but need to know Wi-Fi tethering to Asus Transformer Prime works.
Has anyone tried this or to any other Android 4 tablet?

On unbranded Titan, wifi tethering works with EVERYTHING. Not tried this particular Asus, but unless it's something exceptional sort of device, it will work if your phone is unbranded.
I have tethered a Motorola Xoom (Honeycomb) to a Titan.
Not quite what you asked but I agree with the other poster that you have a near-guaranteed chance of success.
Thanks for your replies.
I've asked a similar question over on the Transformer Prime forum.
The reason I ask is that it seems with the Android 4 update to the Transformer it won't tether to an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network (although there seems to be lots of conflicting opinions as to why people are having problems).
So should my question be does the hotspot appear as an adhoc network?
Since asking I've put another custom O/S build on my Touch HD that will successfully tether over Bluetooth so the urgency for a new phone has dropped a bit. Which I guess leads to another question about whether the Titan supports BT tethering?
Mango hotspot does not appear as an ad-hoc network. It's an AP with WPA2 security.

I want to know if it is possible to develop drivers or an application that would allow the asus transformer prime to use one of verizons 4g usb modems. I would like to be able to use one of these instead of a mifi modem or cellphone hotspot feature because i think it would be better for the battery because the mifi modems only last like 5 hours and most phones don't have good battery life either. Also i rather get a usb modem plan with a cell phone provider than have to pay for a phone+data+wifi hotspot feature plan.
There would need to be a driver to support that function. I don't believe prime has that function built in, however, it may be doable with some dev support. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in.

I'm new around here, but I would go investigate the Transformer forums, to see if someone over there had done this already.
Just get a portable, 4G wifi hotspot. Problem solved. Plus you can use it for your other wifi devices.

This can work but I believe a 4G adaptor would be better because the mobile hotspots support multiple devices but I am only just going to need it for one device and most the the mobile wifi hostspot have really low battery life like 5 hours and less.

I have investigated this on other forums and there are some threads that give instructions on rooting the original asus transformer, installing some drivers and using a certain huawei 3g usb dongle. This is good but I wanted to know if anyone decided to develop a method to use a 4G usb modem to take advantage of the faster speeds.
Been running WMWifiRouter on my HD2 (TMo, WM6.5) for over a year with little problem, serving as my home computer's Internet connection. Just bought a Viewpad 7, and want to serve its wifi connection similarly. Nothing I can do on either device causes the HD2 wifi hotspot to be seen by the Viewpad 7. I also downloaded and tried the XDA's WiFiRouter, with same results. The Viewpad 7's wifi is working fine - - it can see lots of other wifi hotspots. Any suggestions?
Answer, plus another Q (can't see my HD2's wifi hotspot)
I just got this answer from a similar post on PCCGeeks forum:
your windows mobile creates adhoc WiFi, which supported by full blown OS, like windows xp. android does not recognize this type of network. however, iOs devices can see ad hoc.
the only tablet on the market that can see the network created on your hd2 is the iPad
Oh. Darn. That is bad news. Hmmm... what if I changed my HD2 to run Android (I see lots of forum activity that seems to say that is superior and relatively easy to do, am I right?) If I do that, is there an Android app for the HD2 that would create a wifi hotspot that the Viewpad 7 can see? Surely there's a solution for these 2 pieces of hardware. I'd rather not have to get a SIM with cell phone service for the Viewpad 7, because that's a $30+ a month "solution".
I'm thinking of buying a HTC Titan (Windows Phone), does anyone know if Wifi tethering to a Transformer Prime (ICS) works or has experience of it? Or to any other Windows Phone 7 device?
It seems that the issue people are having w/ WiFi tethering not working for ICS is w/ root-induced tethers.
My droid is w/ T-Mobile who lets you tether your life away for free and WiFi tethering is working perfectly fine after ICS.
Considering you're getting a W7, there is no root, so you should be fine.
I have just received my transformer prime and I am having trouble tethering my GSM galaxy nexus. The firmware has been upgraded to the latest build of ICS for both devices. I get a notification telling me that the connection via bluetooth tethering has been successful but I am unable to use it. I have also tried pdanet tablet with no luck. Is it possible to tether the phone with the tablet via bluetooth at all? Should I just bite the bullet and use wifi instead?
i know your talking about bluetooth, but if you mean ad-hoc... its been removed from ICS ... sorry
What do you mean by ad-hoc tethering? I have seen this term around the forums but not sure what it refers to.
I am able to do do wifi tethering just fine on my prime. The reason I would like to try it over bluetooth is to save battery on my phone.
You're in for some trouble. I have a Gnex and a Android Tablet. There's an issue with the Gnex dating back to last year where the BT connection will drop after a few minutes. Its a gigantic pain in the ass and to date I haven't found a fix.
Running 4.1.1 / BBand I9250XXLF1
I have searched the posts and found posts about ad hoc on the prime but i assume that it was for a non rooted prime. So my question is, can i tether the prime after root?
I have a rooted HTC Rezound and the wifi tether works on my xoom and laptop. Sorry if this was asked already but i just could not tell for sure on the post.
there are mixed results with tethering to ad hoc networks but the general concensus I could find is is does not work on most ICS updated primes. Specifc phones and setups do seem to work. I have been having mixed results with Wireless tether on my rooted samsung captivate. sometimes it'll see the network sometimes it won't.
I don't think rooting the prime will fix this as the lack of ad hoc support is a limitation of the latest version of the primes software. more info here:

"i assume that it was for a non rooted prime"
this issue is irrespective of root
