Have you or anyone tested the rom to verify this? While a new rom with extra would be great, I wouldn't want to waste time downloading something that didn't improve my phone but on the other hand I'd like several people to give an opinion after installing the rom to verify it works or doesn't work.
Ive got it on my phone just now and while the OP is correct, it is full of pirated apps but with its JIT enabled the bloody thing flies lol.
Marketplace is fine for me so far.
I must admit im a bit disappointed as well and will be reverting back to my old backup for now till something better comes along.
I tried it too, and finally restored to do same modifications myself, due to some bugs : physical keyboard in qwerty (was AZERTY, impossible to come back), no more Sym/àü, ...
Done in 2 hours.
I actually went back to his ROM due to the speed difference.
I also installed Titanium Backup to get rid of some of the crap he installed which cant normally be uninstalled.
I use Fancy Widget Pro but the Taskiller hes installed keeps killing it
You need the Titanium Pro version though to uninstall stuff.

You can download the Titanium Pro using the Applanet, but yes, it's warez...
Or you can uninstall the Taskiller using the Root Explorer (just go to system/app and remove the app you don't want).
Or you can add the Fancy Widget Pro to the list of exceptions of the Taskiller.

Try adding an icon of the Taskiller to a dock of the Launcher Pro. That's what I did.

Good idea, never thought of that lol
No matter anyway as i uninstalled it
or use advanced task killer, which lets you put it on ignore.
You can also improve speed, as well as battery life, by deleting a lot of the "sony ericsson" crap found under "backup" when opening titanium. Additionally, delete SE's "home" if you don't use it and any language packs under "system/user/keyboard-config" and "system/usr/zi"
I've also erased bluetooth, GPS, maps and text to speech (since i don't use them) without any problem.
Other tips for saving space -
Delete unecessary ringtones, alarms etc... under system/media/audio
Delete unecessary wallpaper from system/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/homescreen/wallpaper
Delete boot animation (sorry, can't remember where this was)
Of course this isn't for averyone but personally I like a slimmed down, respnsive phone
Any way of getting the stock SMS/MMS back?
Cant stand the delay with notifications in Handcent
So I've read the homescreen / re-draw lag posts & Ive tried everything suggested with no luck.
Problem is my GS3 lags constantly, bringing up messages, contacts, app drawer, everything. On the lockscreen the ripple lag is like 2-3 seconds, its getting extremely frustrating. Ive tried checking in OS monitor for a CPU lockup but theres nothing I can see that would be causing it.
Im running Omega V3, Apex launcher, on Vodafone Australia.
The other issue im having is my browser is f/c ALL the time, pretty much everytime I use it, it locks up for about 10 secs then returns to homescreen with the message saying Interent has stopped working.
Have reinstalled ROM twice, its runs super quick until I reinstall apps from Titanium Backup, then it just drags. Would there be a conflict with an app / data from my GS2 backup? Is there a way I can run a log to check? I have Android Assistant, and have checked the log, but im too much of a noob to know what to look for, although it seems to be running a lot of debug lines but I dont know if thats normal..
Thanks in advance.
The restoration of backup sounds like the cause. I recommend you restore the apps one at a time or in small batches. That way you can figure out which app is causing the problem.
my apex launcher is usually fast , but i've aswell that 3sec lag when i push homebutton.but that happens only sometimes.
ive also ticked that option to keep launcher in ram...
iam using omega rom and no bloatware or s voice

Exactly what I was thinking. Do your fresh install, then restore the apps only and see how that works out.

Thanks man all sorted. I think an app, most likely APex, was trying to force a certain screen resolution..
I have also had problems with titanium restoration. Also solves the problem.

galaxy s3 touchwiz crash when I move apps to folder. Do you have same experience
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Never happened to me, have this been happening all the time since your phone been new?
Things i would try is reboot (guess you done that a few times) or do a factory reset but make a bakup before of your phone.
Sounds strange hope it works out somehow!
Why is this in themes and apps?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
It happens when I move many apps to single folder. When I move 1 apps to folder and save nothing happens. The crash is under programs where you can see all apps.

My resolution
Hi.
I have the same exact problem with my SGS3. If I move more than one at a time to the folder the Touchwiz crashes.
My own resolution is to move one -> save, move another -> save and so on. This is slow but the only way to handle this at this time.
Otherwise the device is a really good!

Question
Hey guys I had a quick question as well. I sell these and I've had a few people complain about this. I can fix it by doing a hard reset, however when they reinstall all their apps ( at first we thought it was this causing it ) it crashes again. However, the phone has a ton of widgets and shortcuts on the home screen. Is that what is causing this? He does NOT use any folders. And anyone heard of a fix yet for this?
Hello,
I've been on stock kernel/OS since I bought my unbranded I9100 some time ago, that means Gingerbread 2.3.4, I9100XXKI1, Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468 (rooted, of course).
I'm thinking about trying CM9 or CM10, just for fun. I think I know pretty well what to expect, but am trying to figure out if there are things I will be missing. As far as I can tell, the following will change significantly:
- Touchwiz launcher replaced, of course. No biggie.
- Swype will be gone, right? I played around with CM way back, and there seemed to be some discussions about how to take Swype with you, but I assume this will be rather hard when going from Gingerbread to JB? Or is there a good way to keep it (without buying it separately)? I like it rather a lot...
- The four hubs (Social Hub etc.) will be gone. Good riddance, as well, I've never used any of them.
- I've not used any of the Samsung remote features (to locate a stolen/lost device; OTA, or KIES), so I guess they will be gone, but I won't miss them.
Is there anything else I've missed that's been added by Samsung? I want to avoid a problem where I don't actually notice anything important missing at first, and then noticing weeks later...
Thank you for your time!
I noticed my camera was missing on one of them.

No tv out. No fm radio. If swype is the keyboard typing style, i dont think thats gone, but i will check.
Camera is still better in stock touchwiz. Also, clear ram from recent apps isnt there.

You could use titanium backup to backup all of your (system) apps. If something (important) turns out to be missing, you can restore it easily. Apart from that, flash it, you won't be disappointed. Good luck with exploring all the possibilities.

Apps only in touchwiz wont work in aosp roms since they are deeply integrated within the touchwiz framework, so no use backup app system apps nor system data. Restoring system data may cause problems ranging from bootloops to force closes.

Alright, the clock. I use that a lot, all of it (alarm + timer + stopwatch). That would be a bummer to loose, I guess there will be some useful replacements on the market though.
There are plenty of camera apps around. Can I safely assume that the picture quality (as it is) will be the same as with the stock camera app? I use the camera for taking pictures, I need no effects, online stuff etc. around photos. In fact I am not that happy with the stock camera, as I find it tough to shoot a photo when I don't see the screen... so I'll be happy to hunt for a camera app that supports some of the hardware buttons for shooting.

Well yes, but I'll have to register/pay for it, or don't I?
Is there a way to see which app is Samsung specific, on the phone itself? Or is basically *any* app that shipped with it either in gapps or by Samsung/Touchwiz?
Thanks a lot, again.

[Q] How to remove annoying message "clear default app settings by going to settings"
Hello guys
Since JB on SGS3, my phone KEEPS asking me to set defaults for the same things, really bloody annoying.
"Clear defaults
Clear default app settings by going to settings > applications manager > all"
An utter pain in the arse. Anyone found a way to make Touchwiz remember defaults or to stop giving this newbie bollocks message?
I'd love some brainy hacker to make it gooo away!

Titanium -> backup/restore -> TouchWiz -> freeze
Make sure you have a proper launcher already loaded, like ADW/Nova etc.

i am thinking though, wouldnt freezing touchwiz also stop the (FANTASTIC) features of samsung, like the "stay on" feature and the excellent Samsung Calendar? Major reasons why I would never go back to Cyanogenmod.

NOPE!
after a reboot it is back to square one, the message comes up again.
there has got to be a way to make the system remember that stuff, surely?!
EDIT
not quite square one... it seems files I have opened before using a specific app will continue to work with that app automatically, but if I, for example, open a pdf document in Maildriod and tell it to open with Adobe reader, then click on the same PDF in the GMail app, it will ask me again... so it seems to be based on the app it is coming FROM and not the type of link/file you are clicking on. Pretty daft IMO.

No, Samsung apps are independent of TouchWiz and will work with any launcher.
The only repeating request for default I've experienced is when I left TouchWiz in after I'd added ADW - it came up after each boot to ask which launcher I wanted and then ignored the 'always' bit. After I frozen TouchWiz it's all working as expected, opening each file type responds with the app I've chosen to use with it (from the launcher).
I just tried the exact test you describe, opening a .pdf in two apps. After I'd set the option from each app it remembers the setting - but it just doesn't appear to be a system wide setting, like it would be in Windows.
If it keeps asking the same question from the same app then you may have a problem, otherwise I think it's just the way JB works.

I will check, though my nexus 10 tablet NEVER has a message telling me that I can clear default app settings... so it's not a google thing but a samsung one.
I will see over a week or so if it does remember, though i guess with each rom update I have to enter all the bloody defaults again... one of the down sides of customising rom's frequently.
cheers
Mark.

Not for me, I cannot get that message to stop, My phone remembered no defaults before root or since. In fact rooting was the biggest waste of time I can think of, its changed nothing
why did you root if you didn't know what you needed it for?
