Has anyone else suffered from the Weather not being able to connect and update for the last 5 days or so? I don't think I did anything around the time it stopped to cause it
I'm on the Artemis 63.0 ROM on an HD2 with 6 world cities and "My Location". They have been working fine for 3 months or so. I only update when on WiFi or Active Sync and do my shares at the same time. Shares still work fine (as does everything else), just the Wx stopped with a "Connection Error". I have read through loads and tried "Cornflipper" which actually started "My Location" working correctly again (Village in Spain) but the other locations all fail with the same error. I tried switching to N2A (using Stylze (?) switcher) but all fail again so have reverted to Cornflipper. I believe when I set it all up ages ago I was using Accuweather as a server but I'm stumped now as can't remember where I went to set that up.
I realize it's probably something I've done but I've spent quite a few hours on it now and am getting a headache
Any ideas?
No problems at all here, but just read this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21528198#post21528198 .... maybe useful
I'm experiencing the same problem. I'm on a standard ROM. Looks like accuweather.com is working, but not2advanced.com is not.
Had the same problem, checked poyensas link and deleted/changed the URL in the registry and now it's working again!

Thanks so much poyensa.
Been going round and round but followed your link and on to http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-m...-hct-weather-server-accuweather-directly.html where it gives the Accuweather server details and never realised you could input it from Weather City Editor. Dead easy and up and running again. Did try the reg edit first but even after reboot no success. probably got a letter wrong but couldn't sort it hence trying the ongoing links.
Thanks again
City code not appended to URL
Hi,
I've made the registry change to 'Weather.ServerURLOverride' as specified in poyensa's link (above), and I still cannot get my weather working.
I manually tried the URL in a browser, appending a city code, and the XML came back fine (so the city code I am using is still valid).
I modified the 'Weather.ServerURLOverride' registry entry, and inserted a test server host, so I could see what data/URL the weather update was sending, and this is what I got in the Apache log...
"GET /widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode= HTTP/1.1" 404 526 "-" "HTC HTTP Service"
The 404 is expected, as this is my server, but as you can see, there is no city code appended after 'locCode=' in the URL.
I've deleted all of the city entries, added them back in, added others I'd not already tried, and soft-reset the device, but it appears that the weather no longer sends the city code.
If I append a valid city code to the registry entry, then I get the weather, but obviously this means that I can only have one city entry! So, this proved I'd not made a typeo in the registry.
Any help appreciated.
I'm using a stock O2 ROM, with CHT2. Has been working fine for ages, and like everyone else, stopped about 5 days ago.
Thanks

Reg entry removal seems to work
Hi again,
So I completely removed the 'Weather.ServerURLOverride' registry entry, and the weather started to work fine.
It looks like the 'Weather.ServerURLOverride' reg entry is not required.
Hope this helps someone else.
Thanks
I've been trying both the change of the registry entry and its removal. None of them worked. Any help in solving the problem would be rather appreciated. ROM is 3.14.408.2 (04666)ITA.
hi,
im looking for all the registry to add manually this city EUR|FR|FR022|ALLINGES.
Any ideas ?

Okay. So here is the one issue that I have been having with this particular Rom.
I can receive MMS messages just fine, but I cant send them. When I hit send and receive it says error synchronizing. The crazy thing is that in the progress icon for sending MMS it goes to 100%, however it never leaves my outbox and the other person never gets it.
I changed the settings under server to the correct ones:
Server settings that need to change:
Gateway: "blank"
port: 80
Server address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Sending Size limit: 350k or 400k
Any ideas? This is the only problem I have had so far! btw, like I said in my title, im on VZW. Btw, I know about the Arcsoft Sprint MMS hack, however if possible I would like to use the version on Arcsoft that came with the DCD rom as it has a lot of features the old sprint hack does not. Thx.
-Sayajin
if you are on verizon you dont use the sprint hack, you dont need a hack at all. make sure you did not make any changes before you set up your MMS. i know several people that did some things and thought it was the arcsoft but it was something else they had changed. from scratch, only change the registry (did you make these changes?), the server and the connection. then it should work, almost guaranteed. this is in multiple posts so just search and you will find tons of them.
Sounds like my problem may be that I didint make those registry changes you were referring to. Other than that, the only thing I did was put the correct server in.
What registry modifications do I need to make in order for it to work on VZW?
btw, I wanted to add that I searched and found some threads on this issue and the correct settings for T-Mobile, but i diddnt see one for VZW.
Thanks a lot.

MMS reg
SSJSayajin,
Follow my directions here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364043&page=30
Use the reg file and edit it......
Thanks a lot man your a Savior! One issue however, I am open the file and modify it with no problem, however I cant import it!
I am using Total Commander as my file explorer and PHM Regedit as my registry editor. When I click the file a "do you want to import this" does not come up. It actually opens up PHM Regedit, however the option to import the file is greyed out.
Any Ideas? This is my last issue! Thx.
*edit*
So I found out the problem, PHM does not allow you to import reg entries. So how do I open up the default reg editor so I can import this? Thx guys.
-Sayajin
I have a problem with the MMS registery hack you posted, I downloaded it, removed .txt, edited my phone number, transfered it to my phone but in file explorer or total commander when I click on it, it gives me a error " there is no application associated with "Verizon MMS settings for Arcosoft 4281" run the application first, then open this file from within the application" I am running DCD 2.2.6 rom,any help? thanks
Well I figured out one issue, as far as importing the reg file, use DotFred's Task Manager. It has a built in reg editor that works perfectly.
But my stuff still doesnt work properly! I imported the reg entry and I know it worked becuase it added more items to my phone, however I have the same problem of being unable to send mms. Does the exact same thing as before with the error of unable to syncronize.
Any ideas? Thx.
-Sayajin
i am testing this now. did a hard reset, imported it and i'll test it out.
that didnt work. I am juust going back to 3.2
i could send but not recieve
1st - Are you guys on Verizon?
2nd - Did you read the entire thread that I linked too.... It has other items you will need to do..... That thread resolved most if not all issues relating to using MMS with Verizon. Now when I put a new ROM on my phone, I have added the registry entries in MY file to the OEMizer and that adds it automatically to the ROM, so I get MMS right away with my new ROM..... Like I am on DCD's 2.3.1 right now, and I have MMS just fine.... Please go back and read that other thread entirely.... It will help guys.....

that thread is lots of pages long.. is there a way we can get a summary?
Not to be an ass, but thats how you learn... read... I've been lurking around here for about 1 3/4 months, and really have done nothing but read as much as possible.... so really it's up to you to summarize it for yourself. I'd have to re-read it again to be able to summarize it, and I don't have the time to do that research again..... sorry....

lol, youre not being an ass. thats what i would say.
what i meant was, there's more to it than just importing the reg file right?
so, i imported the reg file and it had a random character in the gateway field, so i removed that and i can send fine, but i still cant receive. I'll look through that thread more and see whats going on here.
Are you using Arcsoft MMs ver 4.2.81 right?
EDIT: When you download my reg file, it comes with a .txt extension. When you save it, does it's icon change? If not, then it's not being saved as a registry file....

Yea, its version 4.2.81. Also Yes, the registry icon changes once you remove the .txt extension. The file imports just fine, it just doesnt resolve the issue. Also yes, its on Verizon.
While I realize that reading that 60+ page thread will help, unfortunately I would rather not spend 2 hours reading the thread for a solution that someone may know off hand. Now of course if thats not possible I will have to read it, but I was hoping someone would know of a fix?
What else needs to be done in order to be able to send and receive MMS messages in addition to the registry hack that was pointed out?
-Sayajin
yeah, its verizon and i have that version of arcsoft. whast odd is that it was working fine on 2.2.6, on 2.3.1 it isnt. i even used oemizer to setup the registry entries and still... i can send but not recieve.
i am completely stumped
Okay, So I broke down and read about 30 pages of the thread to look for MMS issues. This is what I have found in a summary.
1. Install the Reg file in this post.
2. Delete every other server listed under MMS servers
3. Delete the random character that shows up under Gateway in server settings.
4. Go into the registry and where it says Default as the value for anything, change it to Verizon Wireless.
5. Soft Reset
Thats about everything I got from the post after reading 30+ pages. Still have the same issue....
-Sayajin
FWIW - This is about the only thing I can think of that might help.... Go into your registry and delete the config key under ArcSoft MMS UA.... Then import this reg file, its straight from my 6800 this morning, and I can confirm it works just fine for me..... I zipped it so there is no need to change the extension..... I send and received MMS from myself and from a friends phone he let me use.... I just tested this out.... I also tested my config by changing the sending size and when I upped it, I couldn't send anymore..... So trying to send larger files may mess up your ability to send MMS..... Hopefully this helps..... If the import doesn't solve the issue, then hard reset, imput the reg and test again......
I'm trying to help as much as I can.....
Thx a lot for the assistance man!
One issue, when trying to import the new file it says "error the selected file is not a registry script unable to import" any ideas on that one?
Thx.

[Resources]Working AT&T CV Videos, Mobitv, Media Net and Media Mall on custom roms
I could not find a thread with a working solution. After hours of testing and reading I have a working solution for AT&T CV Videos, Mobitv, Media Net and Media Mall on custom roms. I have not tested on none AT&T phones but it should still work.
1 Install custom rom
2 Install opera.ini to \windows\opera9 or \Application Data\opera9
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=6d3a1e8e1f30ec60d2db6fb9a8902bda
3 Go to start\settings\systems\about\device id. Change device name to HTC_P4600
4 Soft reset
Go to cingularvideo.cingular.com and try watching a video. Media Net and Media Mall works as well for downloading games, ringtones and more. If you use mobitv then go to http://www.mobitv.com/supporteddevices/unitedstates_mobile_at&t_mobitv.php# and put in your mobile phone # to get new version.
Note: Some roms do not work. Htc streaming media will fail to play video (File re-entry error). Patch is posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3236379&postcount=1584 Thank you NotATreoFan for fixing the cab.
You mentioned on Rup's thread that you got CV to play using his 4.3 rom- is that correct. I have stayed with his v3.3 rom because I have almost no issues with it. The only one being that I have never been able to get CV to work again.

I don't know if this helps but I went to the internet proxy settings and put in the following:
wireless.cingular.com
saved setting and Media Net worked...but 1 problem came up:
I lost between 500-600 kbits in speed. I was getting 1800-2000 kbits on my Fuze before and then after I was only getting 1300 to 1400. My guess is that going through the proxy slowed me down.

Thank you Thank You Thank You!
It's really been bugging me that my Fuze, "the most powerful Windows Mobile phone yet", hasn't been able to do something I could do on my 8125 and Tilt!
I don't use Cingular Video a ton, but I used it some, and I always want all my options available.
Thanks again. You're the Ace of the Day!
Opera settings to enable CV
I just ran across an interesting piece of info- This might be of benifit. This is from this page. http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/howto/how_to_make_your_fuze_bloatfre.html
Here's how to get Cingular Video working in Opera again:
In Opera, enter "opera:config" as the URL.
Scroll down, expand Proxy, and for the HTTP and HTTPS Servers, enter "wireless.cingular.com:80" and check Use HTTP and HTTPS.
Scroll down to User Prefs, and for Customer User-Agent, enter: "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
That seems to do it. For PIE, I think the CAB in the Windows folder called "restoreHiddenProxy4CWS.cab" is supposed to fix it. For me, it makes device.home work (whoopty do!) but the cingular video pages come up as XML code.
Update- I tried changing these settings by themselves to no avail. What is posted on the first page ot this thread works. Sorry didn't mean to add confusion.
Thank you so much for this thread, this has been an issue that I have been working on for a while.

I have this in the opera.ini from the first post.
Link this thread to RRE's
Very good work body. I see that some people here mentioned they are using RRE's ROMs. Since RRE's is a FUZE ROM and the majority are AT&T costumers. Maybe it should be a good idea to ask "arupp" to have a link on his first post to this one, I asure you it will help a lot and save people a lot of time.
PD: not only for RRE's but all others creating FUZE ROMs.
Control Graphics off
I installed the .cab fix for CV that you have in your third post and it made it work... but the only problem I have is that the controls graphics of the player are messed up. I attached a screenshot.
Step 3 isn't needed. That's just what the default Fuze is set at. You can change it to whatever you want. The important stuff is the proxy settings and the user agent. That's the only thing AT&T's servers can read, and thus the only settings needed.
As a demonstration, if you have firefox, you can set the proxy to wireless.cingular.com and the user agent to HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) and browse MediaNet and watch CV.
The file in post 3 is for roms that get file re-entry error while trying to play cv videos with htc streaming media. If you do not get a error do not use cab from post 3. The menu is weird after cab install. I am working on a fix.
Nah, not post #3, Step #3 in post #1 isn't needed.

I have installed and uninstalled adreas falke Weather database program v1.2 so many times it is ridiculous I have read EVERY thread I could find on how people solved there issues with this program and not one of the worked for me. Now when I try to reinstall the program and access it it says "File right protection could not be removed" this is after i cleared the storage and installed all my contacts and installed the .net version 3.5 for the third time this week. Someone on this forum told me to download the program and cancel in the middle and that would take care of the problem, NOPE. So before, my problem was I got my city on there and it always said the high and low were 32 degrees, now I can even get the program to work so I can add my city again. Can someone with more knowledge than me please help me with my frustrations, I feel like the weather tab on my phone is absolutely useless to me at this point and I hope there is someone who can help me thanks for reading. Please help
I had to install a 1.1 version that someone hacked. Get the modified cab at the bottom of the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408918
OK Now what do I do???????
I got the 1.1 modified version installed now when i add my city it is high and low of 32 all the time and when I hit update it goes from sunny to moon and cloudy each minute this in exactly how i put my city in maybe I am doing it wrong
United States
IL
DeKalb
NAM/US/DEKALB/IL
maybe that is wrong on accuweather there is a zipcode to so I am going to try it like that now thanks for the help with the program can you please help me with this now
I used my zip code as the accuweather code.
just your zip code????
Vuoala You are the man mtg1974 i never thought just the zipcode would work because every other thread you read says "you must enter the accuweather zipcode exactly the way it is in your URL" so I never even thought to just put my zipcode in that box you are a genius I wish there were some way to thank you like in other forums
I'm glad I was able to help. I can't take credit for the answer though. I found it here the other night when I was adding my town to my weather database.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408918
3. bis For US cities :
- thx obender : for example Hickery, NC, Accuweather URL is http://www.accuweather.com/us/nc/hic...u=1&traveler=1
You see the portion "us/nc/hickory". To obtain the locCode, you have to prefix it with NAM|
So, it gives, for our example : NAM|US|<state>|<city> i.e. NAM|US|NC|HICKORY
- thx duofold : instead of the complete locCode as mentioned above, you can only use the zip code : just input the zip code of your city in the "Accu Weather Code" field (and, of course enter in a state & city in the other fields).
I've been around for some years know reading and learning and have almost always found what I needed in this forums to have my devices working as I wanted them to work. This time I searched allover and can't find anything to help me out.
I have a sim card with two numbers (lines). When I switch lines the name of the line appears after the operator name and I always know what line I have active. Recently I flashed a new rom and now when I switch lines the name doesn't change. To have the correct name I have to reset my phone. Is there a way to fix this.
Thanks a lot
Cookie Home Tab Mods maybe?
are you using Cookie Home Tab? If so maybe you could look up this setting in the misc settings page in Cookie Home Tab Editor. If you leave it blank your provider name will appear. If you do not have CHT installed, maybe it will help you to accomplish this. I would install these Mods to look and see if it works. Good luck!
Thank you for your reply.
The provider name and the line name shows up fine. My problem is when I switch lines the name of the line don't change. I have to soft reset to make it change.
you would probably be best trying to get an answer from the whoever cooked the rom...
hope that helps
Thanks. I'll do that.
Hi guys, I hope someone can help coz I'm at the end of my tether!.
I've got a Hudl v1 which I factory reset because it was getting slow with stock ROM (never changed anything).
I come to the Let's get started and I click Start to get to the WIFI selection bit. I connect to my own router and it quickly says Authenticating (which it does), then it say Cannot connect to the internet, check your WIFI, and I click OK which takes me back to the WIFI connection screen. If I reboot at this point and start again, at the connect to WIFI point it says connected and there's the WIFI icon but no triangle icon to continue.
I've tried it on several networks, both open and secured and set it static IP but no luck.
If I use the Google keyboard method of getting to Settings I can browse Ok using Chrome and access Play Store etc and install apps.
I have tried 3 different ROM's now and all are the same. Used RKTOOL to flash it. Factory reset after installing each of them.
Debug mode and rooted now BTW.
I used ES explorer to browse to system/apps folder and renamed the HUDL SETUP apk to something different then reset again. The only difference now is that I have the 3 nav icons at the bottom.
Is there a way around this to skip the WIFI screen and continue to the next setup screen?
Is there a way of killing this process (if so what's it called?) of removing it?
Much appreciate any help.
Cheers
Paul
Factory reset HUDL - cannot get past the wifi screen
Paull,
I am having exactly the same issue my HUDL. I have not been through as many processes as you to get around the startup screen. My main theory now is to wipe the HUDL software and install alternative Android OS. Not sure if that would work in practice, but seems just the HUDL thats the issue.. Is it possible this is a deliberate bug by HUDL to kick the systems gradually off the market? Seems a waste as my HUDL still works well, so be stupid to bin it just yet.
Can you add any advice on how you did the other actions - how did you get your three buttons and did they operate as expected - presuymably not:? Even when I by pass to the keyboard section I am unable to download or update apps or install the Google Now Launcher.
Seems stupid to me. Really keen to find a post a fix for this stupid stupid issue?

I called TESCO contact centre and they confirmed that the software is no longer support and this sounds like a deliberate bug to stop the devices. - If you have a HUDL I would urge you not to factory reset as this will kill it altogether. I think from an environmental standpoint its atrocious to do this and for TESCO not to have a section about it on the website. They should also be telling people where they can send the devices for recycling or repurposing or offering a very basic OS so it can still be used even with limited fucnctionality. We need to start thinking about the whole picture and getting the information like this out there in the public domain.

Stuart

I called TESCO contact centre and they confirmed that the software is no longer support and this sounds like a deliberate bug to stop the devices. - If you have a HUDL I would urge you not to factory reset as this will kill it altogether. I think from an environmental standpoint its atrocious to do this and for TESCO not to have a section about it on the website. They should also be telling people where they can send the devices for recycling or repurposing or offering a very basic OS so it can still be used even with limited fucnctionality. We need to start thinking about the whole picture and getting the information like this out there in the public domain.

Tesco HUDL1_Post-factory reset Workround
Hi All,
Over the past couple of years I've contributed to the MoDaCo forum on this topic as a HUDL user - since the MoDaCo forum is now defunct (sadly, recently confirmed to me by PaulO'Brien via email), I thought it might be useful to fill in some of the gaps for you by summarising the extensive history surrounding this problem, starting from the first Tesco server outage in early 2019. Much of this was documented in MoDaCo but is now no longer available.
I can also offer you a couple of workround solutions which I’ve tested on a factory-reset HUDL1, and documented as a detailed instruction set within a .pdf file.
Since it isn’t possible to attach anything other than image files to this post. I’ve transferred the file to Google drive. Unfortunately as a new user, it does not appear to be possible for me to include the shareable link within this reply to allow you access…..
If any of you are interested in viewing this file, please let me know via this post and I will look into alternative means of getting it to you.

Hi
I would certainly be interested in looking at the .pdf as I have 2x Hudl 1 both of which have been factory reset before I knew Tesco no longer supported them and had swithched off the server.
Thx

Hi,
Since I'm new to this forum and there do seem to be quite a few restrictions on exchange of data, I'll need some advice on how to give folks access to the pdf file. As you'll appreciate, the amount of info is too large to insert into a post 'longhand', so a separate document was really the only way to go with this.
I suspect there will be quite a bit of interest, and it would be a shame if the site's restrictions prevented me from sharing the info.
I notice there is an icon on the post compilation page entitled 'Insert email link' - what exactly does this do, and could we use it to exchange email addresses offline ? I've no objection to corresponding with interested individuals, but I'd rather not broadcast my address too widely....
Cheers, Viv

Hi, Happy to let you have a copy, but please see my reply to KingUsman re how best to do it. Not sure why the forums are so restrictive...
My sympathies on being landed with 2 'dead' HUDLs by Tesco - you certainly won't have been alone in this, given the popularity of this tablet and continued buoyancy of the second hand market before the event....
Cheers,
Viv

Hi Viv,
I've sent you a PM, and hope you can share the link to the PDF that way?
Thanks,
Rob.

I've sent you a PM, can you see if you can send the link through there? If not maybe you can try enter it here with spaces between and see if that works
Sorry, folks - I've tried to unravel the complexities of exchanging information via this forum, but they do seem to me to be insuperable for a 'novice' user. I'll have to explore other ways of sharing the information....
In the meantime, best of luck finding ways to reactivate your HUDLs,
Cheers,

If you can upload the PDF to this link
https://www.dropbox.com/request/l3mJsUEvPhWvZtMR2mLM
I'll be able to share it with others for you.
Thanks to both you and Viv for helping out with this. If you manage to get that available on dropbox I would be keen (and very grateful) for a copy.
The restrictions on this forum do seem quite onerous. My original attempt to post a reply was rejected because it quoted your post which contained a link!
Thanks
FIXED!
I just managed to get past the setup wizard and get both my Hudl 1's back into service. The problem is not that the Tesco server is gone, but that it's certificate expired on 26th June. If you can escape the wizard and get to settings to set the Hudl's time to before that date the wizard completes successfully.
I've written up how I escaped the wizard and got into the settings to do this - it's s combination of information from this thread and stuff I've found elsewhere, none of it is really mine . No rooting or USB debuuging required.
Find the write up here: Apparently I haven't posted enough here to be able to post the actual link, so try this ....
https colon slash slash rob dot themayfamily dot me dot uk slash hudl
If someone with enough privileges could post an actual link for others to click that would be excellent.
I hope this is useful. Please let me know if you find better/easier ways to achieve the same end effect. If I get time I'll have a look to see if the setup wizard can more easily be disabled, but for now this has got me where I need to be.
Enjoy,
Rob.

TigerRob, I went to the website and tried. It still says failed to connect. I did the same thing you did by resetting thinking it was a good idea but totally forgotten about this being a thing with hudls. Im gonna try again and hope for the best.
EDIT: OMG IT WORKS!!!! I guess setting it to 2015 was a bad idea. Should of checked before and set to 22/11/19. Thanks dude!

Sorry, but not sure what website you went to. If you go to my site there are step by step instructions for recovering - but I still don't have enough posts here to link to it directly. If you click on 'TigerRob' to the left of this post and then follow the link to 'view profile' and then click on the 'Contact Info' tab you will find a link under the 'Home Page' - follow that to my write-up.
I've had a couple of other people confirm that they've made it work - let me know how you get on.
I'm working on a custom ROM, based on the latest stock ROM (JDQ39.20140424.153851) that will have the following features:
- boot 'chime' disabled
- setup wizard & Tesco updates disabled
- Tesco apps and branding removed
- Remaining stock apps updated to latest available for JellyBean/4.2.2
I'm probably a week away from having something that can be tested - if you're interested in having early sight and helping test then please let me know by replying here or PM'ing me.
Rob.
Fixed as well!
Rob, thanks for what is probably the best described fix I've ever seen for a tech problem. It worked perfectly, just as you described at every step, including the lack of download of the settings app so I went back and reset the hudl again but was quicker through the process second time. Excellent job! Rob

I'll add an instruction not to go too far in the past . The Hudl talks to other sites during setup, and if they have certificates then those certificates will have 'not before' dates, and if you set the time before these dates then those communications will fail ...
TMF Custom ROM v0.1 (for HUdl 1)
I have a working custom ROM that is currently running on 3 of my Hudl's. If any with a bit of experience of flashing the Hudl want to give it a shot then drop me a PM and I'll share a link - but I'd like to get some confidence of it working on other devices before I open up to general downloads.
.
Rob.
This ROM is not Rooted. It just works around the issue of not being able to complete the setup wizard but disabling it and removes most of the Tesco branding. More information once I have confidence that it's good for wider distribution
