As i was taking out the bubbles and extra solution on the skinomi, my prime turned on by itself. Then it was sitting on my desk for a bit drying, and it turned on again. Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm a little bit worried that maybe some of the solution got inside the tablet.
If it turned on and didn't immediately short out you are probably fine. Just turn it off again and leave it somewhere warm and dry until the skin is fully dried.
I was applying a similar skin to the screen of my friend's EVO, and water go into the seams of the screen and we watched it creep across the inside of the screen, so we pulled the battery and let it fully dry overnight and the next day the phone continued to work with no problems.

Are you sure it wasn't on to begin with?
Yea it wasn't on. I turned it back off. The touch screen seemed to operate fine though. I guess I'll just let it be for a while

Went swimming last and forgot my phone was in my pocket, it was only underwater for a minute till I pulled it out. I dried dried it off the best I could and even used a hair dryer but I think the screen is ruined. When I power it on it vibrates and the lights flash on like normal just the screen is blank.
Am I screwed?
Yes. Don't try taking it to Verizon either. Time to get on eBay

Here's a fix...
First, your battery is definitely done. But the phone is not. Take the phone apart. Don't get too crazy just separate the main screen piece from the backing and battery cover. Then, fill a sandwich baggie with dry rice and put all the pieces in with it. Let it be for about 24 hours (longer is better). Put it back together. You should be good to go (hopefully your new battery has arrived). If there is moisture left in the the screen, it'll look funny but it dried out for me after a couple more days and looked normal.
Obviously, no guarantees here, but this has worked for me...twice. It's not a perfect fix but it'll save you a few bucks.
Thanks for the advice! everything is working but for some reason 3G is not which is very strange.
Don't leave the phone on the bed while you are having fun with your wife. Oh wait. Whenever I go to the steam room or next to a pool I keep my phone away from humidity.
lol ill keep that in mind, Right now I'm having a connection problem. wifi seems to work but really slow. Also I am unable to connect to 3G or any other network. I cant make or receive calls or surf the web. I tried wiping and flashing the newest TazzFroyo rom but I still have the same problem. Any ideas?
Maybe your radio was affected. The rice may not have helped it

Best advice ever given on xda. Im an electronics repair guy for the army and whenever someone brings us a wet device we do exactly this. Take it apart as much as your skills allow and you are comfortable with, then leave it in rice for a couple days. After all this take some canned air and blow it out to make sure there isnt any dirt or particles in there and put it back together...
悲剧,i am sad
I have dropped my phone in water for 30 seconds or so and pulled the battery as fast as I could, then placed everything (taken as far apart as I could) on my radiator on top of a couple of pencils (to avoid direct contact) for a couple days and my phone has never shown any problems including battery.
Hey guys,
This is only the 2nd time this has happened, but was curious if it has happened to you...
When resting the phone on a laptop, the phone automatically shuts off, I had to do a battery pull to reboot and turn it on. Pressing Power alone did not help. The first time it happened, the phone was resting on the dryer...
Must be some kind of electrical interference? Also noticed the wallpaper went from Phase Beam to Stock ICS, and my battery % went from like 68% to 99% upon reboot...WTF hahah...
maybe the metal kickstand is causing some sort of conductive static discharge??? does this happen when you set the phone screen side down?

Hey R2, thanks for the response. I always set it screen up..you're on to something with the kickstand though...Yeah it's only happened twice in a year, so it's not a big deal, but I was able to duplicate the incident when I put it on my laptop again...the laptop itself was shut off, but still plugged into charge..it might have something to do with it..pretty whack.
I get that all the time if I'm not careful. Particularly when I put it on a metal desk at work. My phone's a little unique, so I thought it was particular to my device.

Yeah, it's pretty strange...maybe that's why they took the kickstand out of the Photon Q?
I was riding my motorcycle, and got caught in a downpour. I moved my phone into my motorcycle jacket pocket. I thought my jacket was waterproof...it isn't. :crying: It didn't get really soaked, but it did shut off. I started it back up, and everything works but the touchscreen. So, I have it apart and in a ziplock bag full of rice. My question is, the ziplock bag should be unsealed and open right? I would think you want it open to help the water evaporate, but wasn't sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I would imagine the damage done to your touch screen is done. Trying to get all the moisture out with the rice won't undo it. If that is all that is wrong u might be able to just replace that part. When u say apart u just mean battery and battery cover off?

Yeah, i just have the battery out, the back cover off, and it's in rice. Man, I really hope it makes it through.
Also, the screen comes on, but just not responsive to any touches. Also, I noticed the headphones icon was on, though nothing was plugged in. Everything else seemed to work (ie wifi, hard buttons, power button)
Rice might help (doesn't matter if the bag is opened or not). However, like the above poster said, the damage has already been done. When you try to turn a phone on that still has moisture in it, that's when boards/components get fried. The BEST thing to do when a phone gets wet is to immediately take the battery out and FULLY dry it, a few days at least. This won't help you now, but hopefully it will in the future.

Well, I'm pleased to report, everything works perfectly. Yeah, I know with the first contact with water, it's always best to pull the battery, but I didn't really have an option while riding my motorcycle. Anyway, touch screen is working perfectly and accurately. Whew! Dodged a bullet. I think I'm going to start carrying a ziplock bag in my motorcycle jacket pocket just in case this happens again.
So last night was messing with my TF201 and got up to go unload the dishwasher, so I threw my tablet in my computer chair (screen down). I came back 5 minutes later and sat down (it was dark in my computer room) - it didn't take long to realize I was sitting on something hard, then I realized I was on my tablet and I jumped up. It all worked fine when I turned it on, so I thought I was lucky and got out unscaffed.
I am now at work today and just went to plug in my tablet to charge it and noticed the little metal strip above the charger is cracked and bent in at a "V"??? (I tried bending it back, but it snapped off about a 1 inch strip)...... Upon further inspection, my whole tablet is slightly bent (screen is bent up in middle).
I tested everything again and It all works fine (charges, camera works, ect...), but I am wondering if I should try to bend it back or just leave it as is since it all works fine? I'm just afraid it's putting extra tension on the screen and will make it more fragile and pron to breaking..... But then again, trying to bend it back may break it too.
I've probably answered my own question (leave it alone), but wanted to see what you guys thought?
Thanks, Jason
Hi, if I were you I wouldn't push it From my experience, every time I tried fixing something that wasn't entirely broken, I just damaged it further. Just treat the tablet more carefully in the future and enjoy the experience.

Great minds...
Well my awesome sauce with the note 2 seems to be doing downhill... I LOVE my phone... then all of a sudden yesterday I had it sitting on the arm rest of my recliner.... I accidentally knocked it off on to the hardwood floor and it must have hit just right as it cracked the screen. The phone still functioned fine, but the screen was cracked. I took it to a local cell phone repair shop to have the screen replaced. When they put it back together it wouldn't boot... well then after replacing a button, it booted and they thought that was it. Well after it booted I made a call, and as I set the phone down, I noticed it turned off. So after a couple of more boots and confirmations that tapping it at the top of the device did this, I got a charger. Well with the charger plugged in it does the same thing, which tells me it's not a battery connection as google searching would lead me to believe. Please tell me someone knows something to try and fix this? Should I just cut my losses and buy a used device? I see beans has his on swappa and it's making me consider coming up with the money to do that. Thanks for any input/advice!!!!
Michael
Damn! They're supposed to test it out after they replace the screen and give it back to you. These screen replacements are very sensitive and you have to really use caution when messing with them. I've never heard of this but do you have a case on it or around it at the moment? sorry man. Have you discovered anything else?
Well after he spent some time with my phone last night, he said he thinks he found a loose cable. I picked it up today and it hasn't shut off yet. The screen looks beautiful by the way. Back to playing around with Trents Rom!

Glad the store solved that out. I've had a similar thing if I tap my phone on a table around the camera area it just shuts off as well. Only solution I've found is using the massive case from the 9300mah zero Lemon battery. Adds a sought bit of bulk
