[Q] Question about ringing volume - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello, I want to ask about the behavior of ringtone in the CyanogenMod (Ice Cream Sunday final notweeks). When I had the stock ROM, ringtones worked well - all actions with same volume. After flash ICSunday, ringotnes for calls and alarms ring softly, for SMS rings loudly. I am use my own mp3 ringtones, not builted in ROM. I was try all settings - in CyanogenMod settings, system settings, normalize mp3, bud still have this bug.
Have anybody an idea?
Thanks.

go sound setting, scroll a bit. you will find the volume control for notification

Yes, volume control for notifications i was found, but ringtone for call i dont hear if i have phone in pocket it is too quiet as well as for alarm.. sms rings loud... with stock rom everything was rings much louder than with CM. Exist any app which enforce ringtones?

I have same issue with cyanogenmod7.2 miracle v4, i need to put the ring volume level to half just to hear it... with the stock version or roms based on stock it worked very good. Is there an option or setting that I can change to change the range for the volume, to increase the minimum a little bit more ? thanks .

Don't know whether it works or not, but you can try this :

I'm using cyanogen and it rings perfectly for me maybe its miui problem (your signature says miui)

I've moved from Miracle v4 to Maclaw CM9.
The ring volume is ok now. But if i use an mp3 ringtone it doesn't repeat it after it ends, so after 20sec or so there is no ringtone anymore.

I'm not having that problem.. Strange...

There are others on the Dev forum on C9 Maclaw topic that have similar problems or can't play an MP3 ringtone anymore...

SGS3 on Silent, still playing a sound?

This might seem like a silly question...
However:
On my S1, when I hit silent or vibration only, when an email arrives, the S1 doesn't make a noise (or vibrates) ie. the notification (like Haze) doesn't play.
yet on the S3, no matter what I do, be it on silent, vibration or what not, the sound STILL plays.
Am I becoming crazy or did samsung just overlook an important bug?
-Chris
Did you check all the volume levels?
(Hit the button on the right side when you turn up / down the volume),
I've noticed that (At least in TouchWiz), the media and notification volumes don't always get lowered when you put it on silent.
Also check "System Settings -> Sound" to see if there's anything that would indicate that it should play a sound while in silent mode.
Confirmed, put phone on silent. Started a video, there was sound.
This sucks.

Hit the settings button that pops on the screen on the right of the volume level shown when you press the volume buttons.. change your media and notification levels from there...

Okay, but if you put the phone on silent it should be SILENT

that's not the point of the button that you press for silent.
Or else what would be the point of the button, when i have to manually do it myself?
I'll log this and get back to you.
I don't know about you, but that seems normal, coming from ICS from SGS2 and iPhone, silent means alerts/notifications is off. But when you play Music or Youtube or Videos will play the sound, if you're actively trying to play media then it makes sense to play sound.
Android has always (except for a brief spell) had separate volumes for ringers, media and alarms

that is normal.
But when a SMS is received, on an s2, and you have it on SILENT what happens?
Does the notification sound still play?
As on the S1...and pretty much any phone dating back to the 3310, it remains SILENT
I've noticed this issue also. Silent mode doesn't mute the notification volume as it should. The temporary work around is to set volume manually, but it seems it is a bug in the Touchwiz UX framework.
I for one can't wait until I get either stock ICS or CM9 (maybe JB or CM10 soon if we're lucky, the source was recently released). These little issues are resolved very quickly in a community developed ROM (less than a week in most cases). There is usually a wait of months for OTA updates.
I just pray that AdamOutler can crack the verizon GS3 bootloader to allow easy customization. The International, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint users have unlocked/unsigned bootloaders.
Grab audio manager on google play
Then you set the mute profile for all the sounds you want (ringtone, notifications, player,...) and then you add the widget to your homescreen
When you want to mute, just "click" on the widget, got to the profile tab and then select your mute profile

I think it got fixed actually - magically or via OTA

What firmware would that be, out of curiosity? I'm running XXLFB based ROM and it's still not fixed, been driving me insane.
Not sure this helps if you've already got it fixed but I've been using RealSilent ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.geekherd.realsilent ) as recommended by Jerry over at AC. Pretty handy, but not sure how it works with the stock silent toggle in the notification pull down.
It does however work perfectly with CM9.

I'm on lfb, but on darkyrom v2.
I think lfb did it for me.

Isn't that app for the media volume, not notification?
I thought CM9 came with an option to link notification volume with ringer, so that notification on silent is no longer an issue purely because of that.
Maybe I will try a LG1 based ROM... can't believe Samsung overlooked something so basic.

After trying about 5 different apps including volume +, finally found a straightforward workaround, use the app called simple sound profile widget:
I can't post links yet since I'm under 10 posts, so search for it on Google play.
Really the issue is that Samsung unlinked notification and ringer, but left vibrate and silent toggle alone, so all it does is mute the ringer and not the notification. You'll notice on silent or vibrate, go to system volume and ringer volume still stays the same but shows a mute icon, while notifications volume does not. To fix this you need an app that, when toggling profiles, does not assume ringer and notifications are linked, and also TURNS DOWN VOLUME TO ZERO for both notification and ringer, as I don't believe mute for notifications is working. Simple sound does exactly that, the only thing missing is a true toggle widget since you have to click the widget then select a profile, but it fixed the notification issue properly so I'm not complaining.

[Q] No audio on any ROM

Hello amazing community,
For the last few days I have loaded up a few ROMs for my Rogers Galaxy Note I717R. On any rom, I do not get any notification or ringtone audio, I have checked all the settings, downloaded zedge sound effects in case there was something wrong with the system audio files. I still don't get anything. I flashed gapps with it as well. Is there a fix I am missing? The audio though does work with stock rom.
UPDATE:
I have working ringtones and music but still no notification sounds
Some threads mentioned pushing volume down then up. That worked for me. And one or two times after flashing a rom my ringtone or notification didn't have a tone set. Just pick one.

[Q] Can I get a louder ringtone?

I have a fascinate and I am on aokp_fascinatemtd_milestone-5-glitched and my ringtone is so low I miss most calls unless it is literally next to me.
Is there a way to increase the volume of the speaker so i can hear it?
Thanks
The voodoo sound app is on this rom.
lol c'mon now. I'm gonna assume u have the volume turned all the way up already. Either boost the sound output using a volume control app like Volume+ from the play store... or edit ur ringtone with sound editor to increase the amplitude. Depending on ur version of AOKP, u can boost sound via "Device Settings" or "Galaxy S Settings" in System Settings. All else fails, flash the latest AOKP rom.

The problem really was that the phone would lose the ringtone and not ring at all.
I had to create a media folder then a audio folder then a notifications folder then a ringtones folder and put the ringtone in there......now I have a ringtone that works and I can hear it.

[Q] How to bump in-call headset volume on AOSP ROMs

I have asked this question in some of the individual ROM forums but never got a good answer. So starting a new Q&A thread.
How in the world can I bump up the in-call volumes on AOSP android 4.3 roms? I am talking only in-call headset volume.
Music volume is fine, In-call speaker volume is also fine (4.3 roms) - Just cannot get the in-call headset volume bumped up.
Tried using Devil kernel with Devil app - but I do not understand what values/parameters to bump up
This is pretty much the only issue I always flash back to TW roms. Anyone got any advise/suggestions?

What do you have your phone set to use. DSP Manager or something else. You can edit the individual volumes in most of the sound managers.

I can understand the pain, i also faced same problem. By the way have you tried to increase volume using engineering mode.
you can use Viper4Android. My phone is too loud these days. After installing, you will have to install the proper Impulse Response for maximum effect. You should select the desired Impulse Response. I use the iPod's IR. After this enable FIREqualizer and set preset as Accoustic. then enable Reverberation and Extra Loud. Now you'll wake up screaming with those alarms
