I want to pick up the lapdock 500 for my razr but it has been sold out for some time. Does anyone have an idea when it will be back in stock, maybe friday?
I'm curious, did you ever see a price it will be? The 100 is $199 so I guess the 500 will be $299?

Mmh... Personally, I don't like it at all. It's sized like a laptop and it's ugly.
If I want a laptop with me, I'll take my Toshiba with me.....
I'm happy with the first Lapdock for ATRIX: small, light and good battery consumption. I'll use it for RAZR too.

Yes here is the link for the verizon page location. I sent them an email and they said it is available in some stores but no date on when it will be for sale online.
I can look tomorrow to see if we have one if you'd like.

i think buy the 100
small = portable!
Are you kidding... Like a month ago i wasted like $370 on a new quad core desktop that I barely use.. I generally just consume media and really have no use for an os like windows7. Hell, I'm just gonna give the computer to my mom and get a sweet HD monitor and get this dock.

Indeed, that is pretty sweet!
You can get the lapdock 500 from Verizon website now.... got mine today. I was told that they would not be available in stores.
Ordered mines...coming in 8 hours....and counting down..
One day later...
Got it in. Will upload pictures later tonight. Lovin this new lapdock.
I do not know about the 500, but the 100 has a dull and blurry display. Not worth $65 I paid for an Atrix lapdock, yet alone $200.
I suggest getting the Atrix lapdock, even at the current highest price of $147 (can be found for less):
Display is very sharp and has good color, unlike the awful 100.
The 11.9" display seems a good size and more portable than the 500, plus at least $100 less.
USB ports work great with 64GB thumbdrives and mice.
VZW should have had the connectors of the Atrix lapdock modded and sold it.
Only catch is a little mod of the dock.

I'm also happy with my Atrix LapDock, paid $99 shipped from eBay. I just pulled the 2 connectors out of the unit and plug them in my phone that way. It's flat (the 500 is not), it's thin, and I like the 11.5" screen size, same size and weight as my Macbook Air 11.

There is tutorial for replacing broken camera (here is link at ifixit, delete link if not allowed http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-HP-TouchPad-Camera/6075/), any chance can put better spec'd upgrade lense camera with more megapix/resolution/etc?
Some potential camera replacements for Cyanomod 9? ->http://search.store.yahoo.net/yhst-...log=yhst-77219656498823&query=CAMERA&x=51&y=9
It might be possible if the hardware fits, but then there may be a driver issue.

Yep-driver would be key, and cyanomod 9 doesnt do cam yet anyway, but potential is there, especially cam coming from a droid device.

I've heard of them but it seems kinda expensive.... And would sucl if your phone died and you get a replacement phone.... Better off using a case or skin.
I'd be concerned with the 'armor' wearing off, particularly within the ports. Plugging your USB/headphone jack has to wear on the layer(s), so after a while, you'd assume the coatings would wear off/too thin...then you go to show your friends this cool trick...
Seems like a gimmick to seperate your money from ur wallet lol. Sure it may offer sum waterproofing properties but I'm sure water could still creep in the speakers and other ports....

There are a bunch of reviews on youtube with mixed results, overall though pretty darn impressive. The price isn't cost effective for me yet. I can pay about that much for two years of insurance that covers water, any type of damage, loss, and theft

I know those are too expensive for what you actually said but I got them 2 weeks ago and I'm simply blown away. They sound just like they would've cost at least double the price they are sold by Amazon They are chargable via Micro-USB. 1 Full charge lasts for about 1 week with approx. 2h of use daily.

I bought LG-Tone+ 700. I like them alot but they won't be 20 or 30 bucks US. I assume probably Close to 40 or 50. I got mine from Amazon but since I live in Europe, they cost me 55 euros. Best Investment because I've bought 100 Dollar wired headphones that aren't as good as these.
+1 on the LG tone, on sale you can get them for slightly under 40. Haven't had to buy new headphones for over a year now with these things because there aren't any wires to get messed up with prolonged use. Went through so many pairs of headphones where it broke near the 3mm jack. No more problems

I have owned the Lg hbs700 and the 730. Both are excellent bluetooth headphones for the price. I recently purchased a pair of Arctic p311's because I had a $30 giftcard to Tiger Direct and could not find anything else that I wanted from them. I have to say that I am absolutely blown away from the sound that these produce for under $30.
I have a pretty big head and although they don't look like they would be comfortable, they very much are! They also stay in place if you want to use them in the gym. The Lg models always slip off when laying down to do bench pressing.
Here is a link to them from Amazon if you want to check them out.

I have a pair of Jaybird BlueBuds. They have very good fidelity, 8 hours of charge time and VERY light weight obviously. If you're looking for something minimal and not as bulky as over-the-ear units then take a look at these.

I got these are they're pretty nice and not too expensive. They have Bluetooth 4.0 and have APT-X.
The earpieces look bulky but are surprisingly light.

Also, for $10 less (approximately $20, total) you can get one model lower. It has equally good reviews but is said to have a little less sound quality and has no built in microphone.

Charge by mini USB (not micro, unfortunately).
Cheap and cheerful, but work just fine.
Used mostly for spoken word podcasts and audiobooks as well as phone calls, so high quality for music wasn't necessary.

People are offering what they can. How about a thanks to everyone who DID suggest something. Next time, instead of the nasty response, maybe saying, "thanks" would be more in order. Perhaps NO response would have been better.

Thanks for your suggestion. And not trying to start ****, but I would rather get no response than someone suggesting $100 headphones. That is why I asked about cheaper headphones. It was your response that led me to respond as I did. If you don't appreciate the help you get, don't ask for help at all. People are doing it because they are trying to be HELPFUL. Ignore what doesn't work for you by $20 or so (and, you get what you pay for), and instead look at the cheaper suggestions. Posting a snarky comment about people not reading your EXACT parameters and posting what they did is honestly, NOT going to engender people from helping next time.

Kinivio makes a great affordable headphone
I was notified of this set on slickdeals last week from Newegg.com for 20 bucks, they are fantastic, comfortable and have a great battery life. Right now they are 30 bucks. So I ordered one and lo and behold I open the package yesterday, guess what...Newegg accidentally sent me 2 lmao! Scooore! Seriously though they sound way better than my cheapo pair of insignia before, plus those had the mesh part of the earpiece breakoff and they were just uncomfortable as all hell to wear. These Kinivios have padding instead, very comfortable.

I have a 3D printer and really want to make a nice QI enabled dock. I've started with a very crude design that I made in a matter of minutes. It's definitely a work in progress at this point.
I have uploaded my first design to Thingiverse. I'm printing my first prototype as I write this post. Currently just testing to see if the phone will fit then I will try to clean it up into a final product. If it does turn out to work I plan to design a custom car mount as well.
I have no formal 3D modeling experience or training so this is a fun project for me. Don't bust my balls too bad! Any input is helpful and considered for the final product.
I've started with a rough 3D model someone made prior to the release of the device as a reference. (I did not create the Nexus 6 3D model, I located it on reddit and not sure of the creator) I have already printed it and its very close to the correct size and dimensions.

Nice work. I'll be watching this thread.
What do you have planned? Do you know what Qi charger you're going to use? I'm a huge fan of stuff like this!
-J
As you've got the design, the dock is going to be VERY top-heavy when the N6 is in it, making it prone to tipping over. The front and back of the base should probably be a bit less vertical, and more beveled, allowing a wider base. This will increase the footprint of the doc, but will be a lot more stable.
Otherwise, looks really good. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else make a truly upright (90 degree) qi dock. I'd be interested in this for sure.

I agreed with you after reading your post. However I have completed the prototype and its not as top heavy as imagined. I think the fact that its inset into the base does a good job of lowering the weight/center of gravity.
I have not decided which QI charge I want to use. I've never used one before and will definitely have to do some research. I used the vertical design because like I said the end goal is to make a car dock as well. My end goal is to have something like the Motorola car dock I had for my Atrix.
The print warped on the bed slightly at the outer limits. Pushing the limits of my heated bed so there isn't great adhesion. The "Nexus" logo in the front came out well. Now that that's out of the way here's some photos.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Premium HD app
I took some pictures with the 3D modeled Nexus 6 which fits much better. (Of course that's because I used it to make the dock). It definitely shows the differences between the model and the phone. The actual phone tapers down much thinner at the bottom compared to the top. This is going to be my biggest challenge to recreate in a 3D model.
Just wish I had a 3D scanner to make an exact model to use which would simply things. Can anybody help me there?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Premium HD.
Oh! This is a landscape dock. I totally didn't get that from your original post. That makes a huge difference. My recommendations were for a portrait dock, where it would have been a lot more top-heavy.
Now that I see your intention, the only recommendation I'd make is some sort of latch at the top of the dock, or to make the side-holders a bit higher, say up to the bottom of the speakers. Otherwise, hard acceleration, especially when turning, may cause the N6 to pop out. I know the corners are held pretty well now, but a good accelerated turn could cause enough lift of one corner to allow it to pop out. (Obviously, that's not needed for THIS version.... just the car dock version.)
Of course, if someone at Google/Moto had thought of... oh, I don't know... metal discs or something, so that you could use magnets to hold it... Now, where have I seen that used? Um... oh yeah! The Nexus 5!
Wow this is nice! Top marks for creativity and attempting to make something like this.
Just out of interest where did you get the 3D printer from and how much if you don't mind me asking?

I bought a Makerfarm Prusa I3 8" which I got for around $500. I put some money into an auto leveling setup and upgraded hotend. Overall around $600.
That being said it takes quite a bit of tuning to have it run correctly. I have spent many hours/days tuning this one. Finally got it running smoothly. I bought it used and had to fix a lot of things the original owner didn't put together correctly.

I've almost given up the QI charger idea since I purchased a Tylt VU on sale. Will try to find a cheap QI charger and finish the project in the future.
Thinking about purchasing an accurate 3D model of the Nexus 6 so I can make custom cases and even better fitting docks. At this point I'm not sure if it would be worth the investment.
