How to create folders on home screen? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I hold down an empty part of home screen and only wallpaper options seem to show up. I went into apps then widgets and didn't see an option to create folders. I want to organize apps in folders on my home screen. Help?

If you drag one icon onto another icon, it will put it into a folder automatically using the first icon as the folder icon. If you drag many icons onto it, it will stack the icon. You can name this folder too once you have 2 or more apps in a folder. You can even arrange the apps in the folder by holding onto the icon and dragging it around in the folder.

All of the above assumes that you are already on ICS

OP did say they only get wallpaper change option when they hold down on the home screen. That's ICS behavior, whereas Honeycomb would bring up the screen to add apps and widgets to the home screen as well as change the wallpaper. So, assuming the OP is on ICS makes sense.
This is one area where I actually preferred the way HoneyComb worked.

Change order of LG home

Hey,
On the bottom of my home screen there is the LG home shortcuts, Phone, Messaging, Contacts, App Drawer and E-Mail. The thing is, the order seems to be a bit weird on mine and I want to change it and if possible remove E-Mail and put in Internet. Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks,
Andrew

Hold your email icon then drag it to bin. Then go to menu find Internet but mine named Browser, hold the icon then drag it to the space that you just removed earlier

I'm not talking about just a normal shortcut on the home screen, I'm talking about the icons at the bottom, long clicking on them doesn't do anything for me.
it is not possible in the normal luncher of the optimus.
i use pro lunch as my luncher and you can put any icon and give it any action that you want.
futuremore there are more advances to this luncher. for example long press on the home botton wiill let you choose between all homescreens.
good luck
it is possible to change every icon on lg home dock bar.
just move the icon you want to put in the dock bar at the bottom most part of the screen where the icon would suit if it were in the dock bar and it will replace the previous icon.
I'll post a screen shot for proof.

Perfect, seems like a stupid way to do it, but it works!

Library Icon

Does anyone know how to restore the Library Icon to the Apps Manager? It was there at one time, but now it's gone and I can't figure how to get a link to my Library back on my main screen. BTW, I'm using Go Launcher. I thought maybe I could hold down and select shortcut on the main screen, but when I try to create a shortcut, all I get is a blank screen that lets me do nothing.

You should add to Home Screen using Application instead of Shortcut. Alternatively, you can access the App drawer, and long press on the Library Icon, then drag to bottom of the screen, and then drag to whichever home screen you want to add the Icon to. If the Icon doesn't appear in the app drawer, you may have to reinstall the app. If that is the case, let me know and I can try to post up the Library APK.
It's not appearing in the app drawer and I'm sure it used to be there. I also checked to make sure it wasn't hidden. I went into the system/app folder and found the library.apk there and reinstalled it. It still doesn't appear in the app drawer. I guess it's no big deal, I can always hit the N and bring up the library there.
It's really not as big a deal as the default reader that goes back to the cover every time I go back to a book I'm reading.
I noticed the same thing with the disappearing icons after the update to 1.4.1. I'm currently un-rooted, but using Go Launcher. I sideload apps usding adb through my computer.
My family has three NT's. I noticed that after taking the 1.4.1 update that several of the icon pictures were changed from the BN default to some generic android icon. I can't remember all of them, but they were the ones you see when you press your N button. Like the Library, Web Browser, and Shop. One one of my tablets I just replaced the icon image with something better looking using Go Launcher's replace. On another tablet my daughter accidently deleted the Web icon. When I went to get it back, that's when I noticed the same thing as you. That those icons were no longer in the app drawer so that I could add them on the desktop. They were definitely there before the update. In fact, one of my tablets I've kept from taking the update and they are definitely there. I goofed around and searched all I could in ES File Explorer, but couldn't find where they went on the tablets with the update. I did find the APK files, like you, but didn't reinstall to see what would happen.
Like you said, not a big deal since you can still get there from the N button, but some of the icons I like on the desktop. We ended up deleting all of the icons on my daughters tablet that you find on the N button, but there is no way to get them back unlesss someone here can enlighten this noob.

ICS friendly folder app?

Looking for a folder application that does not pop up a menu button when the folders are open.
On my OG Evo Id have gesture actions for my dock to open up folders made in apps like either http://goo.gl/Wldwa or http://goo.gl/hakGF
The problem on the EVO LTE, is that now when I do the same thing, a menu button pops at the bottom of the screen, which forces a redraw of the UI, and slows the whole experience down.
So does anyone know of a good way around this? Or a folder application that is ICS friendly enough to not pop a menu button when browsing the folders it creates?
I am using APEX launcher, and its folders are wonderful, but cannot be tied to a gesture action, only a spot on the dock...
Simi Folder Widget used to work pretty well for me, but I haven't tried it with quite the scenario you're describing
Simi was no good:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uvegrqhs7d552y7/2012-06-01 15.18.00.png
Popped up the menu button, and as well put the folder at the top of the screen.
Go launcher kinda doesn't do the menu on the folder itself, though it does have a line on top with the name of the folder.
Here's a pic I found on images.google.com

Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but it might do
I've been using Application Folder Pro since Gingerbread, also works on Honeycomb and ICS. You can customize the icon, name, the Window that opens when you open the app. Really awesome folder app. You launch Folder Editor from your app drawer, create a folder and add whatever apps into it. Then long press your home screen and add the application folder shortcut. You can select the type of Window that launches when you click on that folder.

[Q] TouchWiz 5 Home Screen Dock problems

Hi all newbie here and did a few searches and tried to look for help but could not find right info, also I hope I am in the right spot to post so please feel free to tell me if I am not in the right place. Currently running ICS 4.0.4 up-to-date at time of writing on Vodafone Australia but I don't think the country of service provider is the problem. I have a problem with my 'Home Screen Dock' NOT THE 'Lock Screen Dock' I can change icons on the lock screens no problems, All the help, forums and videos on changing the 'Home Screen Dock' Icons say to simply drag, drop[ and replace. All i wanted to do is change the stock "Internet" Icon with Chrome. Dragged the internet icon of and went to drag the Chrome one on but I can't as instead of the dock staying visible like on some videos it changes to the Delete Icon option. Cant find settings please help. Also I do not want to use a 3rd party launcher. I tried Apex and do like it but I use widgets and can't use widgets as my phone is not rooted. Please help arrrgghhh. Thanks in advance.
PS . I just have a blankspot where my internet Icon use to be.
Go into your app drawer.
Menu>Edit
Drag the Chrome icon down to the dock.

Thanks for your reply but I have tried that...the dock area only changes to for different Icon that you can drag your chosen icon onto in order to perform a function. these are from left to right "Create Folder" "New Page" "File Info" & "Delete"
Have you tried to hold on the Chrome Icon in the App drawer and put it on the home screen, THEN drag it to the empty space on the dock?

Yes I have and I get then get the same options expect it has text with each one i.e. *Icon with text"Create Folder" * *Icon with text "New Page"* etc
Has to be a step you are missing. I just tried it and it's working fine.

THanks for your help.... OK so here is what I do.
1) Unlock -> touch App Draw Icon. (Icon that says Apps with 16 little white squares)then I am on my last page/screen where I have a lonesome Chrome Icon.
2)Then I touch the Menu button (the glowing white button left of the physical home button).
3)Touch Edit (from the pop up menu *Edit with the pencil icon next to it)
4)The Page now has <::: Edit |Cancel|Save along the top of the screen under the notification bar. and no dock or anything at the bottom except for 6 . . . . . . white dots which represent my 6 screens.
5) Touch the Chrome Icon and drag downwards, but as soon as I press and hold the icon to drag at the bottom of the screen 4 icons appear that represent the function I described in my previous reply.
Please tell me I did something wrong. It should be so easy. Thanks btw.
1. Click on the App Drawer Icon
2. Press and hold on the Chrome Icon (that will move it to your desktop)
3. Now find it on your homescreen and press and hold it and drag it down to the empty space on the dock.
That's all there is to it.

Have you found the solution?
Hi,
I'm having the same problem, I was wondering if you've found the solution.
Also, since recently I'm having chrging problems with my S3 - sometimes it will charge, sometimes not - USB or Wall charger.
I tend to think these problems were introduced with latest software update.
I did factory reset, but problems still there.
Cheers.

TouchWiz used to allow me to follow the earlier procedure (it's how I docked "Maps" icon). This was back when I could also just drag and drop icons on the pages at will.
However there was an update from my telco (Telstra) and after that TouchWiz (as version 4.0.4) no longer allows changing of the bottom 'docked' row of icons. Even dragging and dropping icons generally is disabled it now requires use of the context menu to select "Edit page", first. The problem with that approach is that edit mode hides the dock row and replaces it with the icons "Create folder | Create page | App info | Delete". See attached screenshot.
So now I'm stuck with the useless blue-globe icon forever showing on my page, instead of being able to replace it with the very useful Chrome icon. Maybe Samsung did it accidentally (are they even the ones that develop TouchWiz?).
PS: If Micro$oft blocked the use of an alternate browsers, there would be loud screams of monopoly and anti-trust...
i to am also having the same problems, i am running stock Samsung Jelly Bean OS with a touchwiz home version 4.1.1. hope someone can find a way to fix this and to get our freedom back in it

Apparently this problem only effects Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
I found this solution:
you need to have root access (which is available on the xda forums)
you can unlock the dock icon edit function by going to /system/csc/other.xml and find
<CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode> TRUE</CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>
Tried it using ex file explorer editor but nothing happened, restarted the device and the setting had reverted back to its original state, might have to do an adb push but the adb version I have installed is apparently outdated (keeps telling me the device is offline) so I'd need to update adb first
If anyone can give it a try to see if it actually works on rooted 4.2.2 with stock touchwiz, it would be really appreciated

Tons of thanks! :victory: Works great on GT-I9195T 4.2.2! Now, four left docked icons on homescreen could be moved.

Touchwiz folders in drawer

This is most likely the simplest thing in the word but i'm not figuring out. It's really easy to create a folder in the drawer in touchwiz and even rename it. But how the hell do i add apps to that folder? I don't mean in homescreen, i mean in the app drawer..
Thanks!
Just drag and drop into folder.
Keep pressed the icon and move over the folder.
Sorry man, that doesn't work or I am doing something wrong. When I hold an app to drag from the drawer, tw will immediately change to my home screen so I can put it there. At best I can drag it to the top where it says folder but that just creates a folder in my home screen. That's not what I'm looking for, I want it in the app drawer.
As I stand, I can create folders in the appdrawer just fine, I just don't know how to populate them
Edit: never mind just found out. Wow this is awkward. For the sake of anyone that may be wondering like me, you need to open the drawer, press menu, edit, touch a previously created folder and then it will let tick apps to move to the folder. I've seen better implementations, but it works. Thank you anyway.

1. Open The app Drawer.
2. Create Folder
3. Click on Left Soft Key for Menu options
4. Click ok "Edit"
5. Now Select App Icons to Drag and Drop.
