I got an update and did it, but didnt take note of my numbers before hand.
here are my post-update numbers, can anyone confirm if there is any change, before they update?
gps: 6.9.13
wifi: 6.1.1.17
bt: 9.23
build: IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.11-20120117
Mine are:
gps: 6.8.13
wifi: 6.1.1.17
bt: 9.23
build: IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.7-20120106
So looks like just the GPS driver changed... Hmm...
I think it was actually a complete reload of ICS. It went through the whole upgrade process again but kept the ICS version the same. I did notice the GPS version is also increased. Need to check out the rest of the software and see if anything else was changed.

I can't even find how to turn GPS on anymore?
took out root, restored with voodoo
fixed my strange clock malfunction:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452737
hopefully we will hear about random reboots/flashing being fixed aswell
GPS version changed (now people can stop complaining about asus not trying to fix thier issue -_-)
No GPS Love...
Updated both of my Primes and still no locks on any birds. Was hoping, but not overly worried about it either.
Maybe next update, but still love the overall performance and size of these things!

if you downloaded it but didn't install yet, you still can backup with voodoo.
After update I was able to lock on to 4-5 satellites when i couldn't even lock on to 1. No wifi.

Factory reset does nothing with root as it doesn't touch /system.
tring to re root with adb right now with no luck. i tried to pospone but it would not let me anymore so i had to update...totally forgot to voodoo.....sucks very badly
No update here yet. Guess they are still rolling it out.

Definitely better for both our primes. No where near as good as my Streak 7 but better than before.
Umm am I the only one who updated the TFP rooted AND retained root after the update? And I didn't even use rootkeeper or anything.
Most people probably didn't check and just ran voodoo straight after the update.

I don't know of any devs who have altered the GPS code from Samsung, and regardless there is no sure thing to fix anyone's GPS issues.
If your GPS doesn't work, try a few different software versions and GPS settings. There is no miracle cure.

from my experience, they all work the same as long as drivers are present. What changes are the settings in lbstest. I always set the server to auto config and it learns pretty quick, but I'm in Japan.

Exactly. These guys aren't fixing anything. Generally speaking, these guys theme ROM's. With some basic scripting of tasks and features. Devs.......I still laugh at that.
How to fix your GPS:
1) Accept that the Samsung Galaxy S GPS will never be fixed, just slightly improved upon a forever ****ty performing GPS. If you can accept this, then you are 1 step closer to enjoying your GPS.
2) Never f*ck with your GPS settings ever again after this day.
3) Download GPSRestore made by Samsung in the Android Market.
4) Run the program, if still having GPS problems then do a full factory format by dialing this into your phone *2767*3855#.
5) If still having problems after running the GPSRstore and doing a factory format via that code, then exchange the phone, and NEVER EVER EVER listen to anyone who suggests you should f*ck around with the LBStestmode settings on your new replacement.
6) Once again, stop tinkering with the GPS settings
7) One more time, leave the GPS settings alone.
Hope that helps, if all else fails, return the Vibrant, get a different phone, and never touch the GPS settings on that phone either.
Master has used the following GPS fix in his roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9551790
I'm using this on nero b2 and it fixes on to 9/12 satellites for me in most locations under 10 seconds when directly under the sky and under 30-40 seconds when inside a building.
You can also search for an app called GpsRestore by Samsung Mobile in the Market. Depending on your rom, as long as it recognizes your device, it can work wonders. For best results go outside when you run it. When I tried it it took me from 50 meters to <10. Good luck.
I have been waiting for the 2012/2/17 .14 firmware to arrive GTA Canada. Has anyone in Canada got their .14 OTA yet?
I am now in .11 after the last Asus OTA upgrade. However, interestingly, I just realized that mine has a IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.2.11-20120117 Build. No wonder it did not get the .13 upgrade. I bought mine at NCIX, should it be a US instead of a WW model? I am thinking to change it to the US Build using the dd method mentioned in this forum. Has anyone tried this?
Any more advice?
If you search thru the post made my Gary Key (Asus Tech manager), .14 should be released by Tuesday to WW after it passes Google Certification. WW users will not get the .13 and go straight from .11 to .14.
So wait till tuesday or do it yourself now. Your call.
How do you do it by your self...
there is no Firmware posted for WW of the .14 version on the ASUS website
I'm in no rush for this, everything is working perfect on my device.

To answer you specifically, yes, you could and would be fine.
I have not changed my SKU, but I've reverted to nearly every US update and have seen no ill effects, upgrading with it should be no different. You still get OTA's after, and if you go back you can freeze your DMClient (if you're rooted with Titanium Backup or something else that does similar) and not be bothered with further updates.
In my personal experience, update .11 is the holy grail of performance and battery-life, so I'd personally recommend staying there unless you're having issues.

I personally use Opera Mobile, just so I have the same interface from phone to tablet and it's always been a good browser on Android (personally didn't care for it back when I tried it and Maxthon on PC's).
Dolphin HD of course.
I have the same "wait" issue with stock browser, but it doesn't really bother me. Prolly just put ICS + or whatever it's called.
I have successfully unlocked and rooted my TP with TWRP for the first time. I flashed Androwook 1.4 and I have some 'newbie' questions...
1. My gps has always worked fine until now. I have checked all three boxes in the location services folder. What am I missing? I have been one of the lucky ones who has had no wi-fi or gps issues... until now.
2. Before I rooted I found a program that would help Youtube/videos load better but now I can't find it. (I have been searching threads for days now) Any suggestions to speed up Youtube?
3. What are some good root apps that will help the performance of my TP. I flashed the 1.8ghz version of Androwook and this is already a HUGE improvement over stock, now I'm power drunk... need more!
Long time lurker, I have used XDA to root my Infuse and now my TP. Huge thanks to all the devs for making my toys better than the manufacturers can.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey when you say that it worked for your gps, which settings did you enable? I'm having the same problem as you were with the gps not working, but it always did before. I even downloaded "gps test" and it seems like it's not even trying to look for a satellite. All of the location services are checked in the settings.

I am going to try flashing AOKP JB Unofficial real quick and see if it's working in there. I've been through several roms since I've had my prime and I don't really remember when the last time I noticed it working was. It definitely worked when I got it and through a couple roms, and then up until some point.

I checked everything in the pimp my rom app. After that wifi wasn't working so I unchecked all of the wifi fixes. I'm not sure what fixed it but it works now. This is the first rom I've flashed so I'm not sure if it works with other roms.
I'm still having issues with flash in Web pages. That was the main reason I got and android and not an iPad. I can't believe they just dropped it like that and I'm surprised there is not more of an uproar about it. I tried the flash 1.1 apk and it worked for a minute then the TP rebooted itself and now I'm back to the "need current flash to play this video". PITA.

1.5 will be out soon with flash built in and working properly. That should fix that issue.
I recently started using my wifes old fascinate after I broke the screen on my Droid Razr. I had rooted it for her in the past and was running AOKP ICS. The phone was performing well but gps tracking seemed to be seriously lacking. So messing around with it I noticed it was running the ED05 radio. I figured i'd upate to EC09 and see if that would improve anything. I used to Odin to flash EC09 rebooted phone and I had nothing 0/0 fix/sats in GPS status. I toggled it on and off and tried resetting GPS data and let it sit for a long time and got no lock.
So I said what the heck I wanted to update to Jellybean so lets flash a new rom and see if the clean install helps. So I flashed hellybean from recovery and the rom runs great but still no GPS. So i'm thinking okay..weird...let's try another radio. Tried flashing EH03 and same issue. So figured i'd flash back to ED05 and hopefully that would do the trick. Well now I'm back on ED05 and the phones been sitting for 10 minutes running GPS status and still hasn't found a single sattelite.
Any ideas of something to try? I use GPS for tracking a lot and really want to get this thing working. I am out of ideas.
Maybe you should try the app GPS Test by Chartcross. Install it, go to settings, and hit Clear AGPS.
Posted from my Fascinate using XDA Premium
Thanks for the feedback. I eventually got it to work and felt like an idiot. The trick? Walk outside...
I did a full factory reset and reflashed hellybean tried some more radios and was about ready to throw the phone at the wall when I said what the heck lets just go outside and see what happens. Walk outside and was locked within 10 seconds.
For some reason the fascinate GPS will just not work sitting on my desk at work. My razr had no issues here so I guess that's why I was expecting it to at least find something. I guess this GPS receiver is just weak.
The wavelength GPS is on has the property of not being able to go through buildings. While this phone's GPS is pretty rotten in this case it's not really Samsung's fault.

You don't ned to factory reset to do the update. And it is only a small update to fix roaming and some radio improvements. Not that bad at all.
I was rooted and on a custom ROM. I used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper app from Play Store to backup root, temporarily unroot and then take the new OTA update.
Once update was complete and phone rebooted, I went back into VooDoo and restored root. I did another reboot to fully restore root privileges. And all is good again. And stock ROM has new update and I can still go and use a custom ROM if desired.
Hope this helps ya.
Already updated, Gains in performance already!

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate that a Factory Reset was needed to DO the update, I had already did the update, as you can see in the screen cap! But like the last 2 updates, I figured this latest one could stand a Factory Reset in order to improve system and app stability, as well as provide additional performance gains intended by the update (at least that was the case with the last update, maybe not the 1st). When I did the last update, early last year, the factor reset GREATLY improved my phone's battery life, system stability and performance. However, after using this new update for the last 24hrs, I have (oddly enough) seen some performance gains! I haven't done the factory reset yet, and will hold off to see if performance continues to be evident.
And by performance gains, I'm referring to app speed, reduction in lag (though, of course, the phone is still laggy as all hell, but it's a lot better), and animations/transitions.
Oh, and thanks so much @beyedup for the quick rundown of what was done in the update!
I haven't seen an all inclusive list but what I did see is very minor at most. Seems like it was directed at Canadian carrier issues.
Boot Loop after 98.72.165.en.us
My phone seems to be boot-looping following the attempted install of 98.72.165.en.us.
I get the android on his back with his guts open and a Red triangle and exclamation point inside.
The phone then reboots and appears to come up normally, but within a minute or two, it indicates that it is powering down.
It then reboots again, I see the android again. blah blah blah.
Suggestions on fixing this would be appreciated.

Has anyone actually seen improvement from this yet.. Because if its radio improvement I pretty sure we didn't need one. When I have full 4G signal there is no other devices faster.. I've compared the xt912 to the HTC DNA and One, Samsung Galaxy Note, and the new Droid line as well as many others including the N4 and 5 and the xt912 beats them by a large margin every time .. Wouldn't be worth the update if that went backwards! Just curious if anyone actual noticed improvement before I let this update fly!

I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet, but the radio needed MAJOR improvement. The 3G/4G radio may have been fine, but the BT radio was a problem. Ever since the first JB update, the only apps that work through my car's BT are the stock music app and Poweramp. Everything worked great in ICS. I've read numerous posts with people having the same issues with various makes and models of cars.
EDIT: Survival mode in Super SU Pro worked great with this update.
Is it necessary to unroot to do the update?

No, but it may be necessary to re-root after the update. I'm not sure if any of the current root methods still work with the new update, but OTA root survival methods still seem to work fine. For all I know, the current update may not even be killing root access in the first place, but you should definitely play it safe by using something like OTA Rootkeeper or SuperSU Survival mode (Pro only).
Its a small update for Canadian users. It's nothing major. Everything else is the same. I had to unroot to install and reroot after update. xt912 Verizon CDMA
update fail
Why do I get an update fail message with this update? I have downloaded the update many times. Android man eventually lays on his back with red triangle. After this is the reboot with fail message.
Stock rooted rzr maxx running jb of course
WiFi hotspot hack done via sqlite

Did you unroot if rooted? If not, backup your root. Then unroot. Download OTA update and let it install. Then go back and restore root. I used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. This time it has worked fine for me. I know I've heard from others that it has failed to restore root for them.
I am not sure if RAZR Utility will still root with this update. I haven't heard anything yet if it will or not.
Hope this helps.
Yes I temp unrooted with vodoo. Don't know what's wrong???

I know a factory reset might not be desirable, but it may be necessary in your case. I would backup any app data you don't want to lose, then go in to recovery mode and do a factory reset, then download Rootkeeper, backup root and temp unroot, then attempt to update.
I was hoping this update would fix a problem with bluetooth that I have had since jelly bean came to our phones. The volume control does not work. It's either full volume or no volume when connected to a speaker. The problem is pretty well documented on the web. I had my fingers crossed. No luck...

You and me both! Ever since JB, BT functions with my car stereo have been severely limited. I have to turn off BT to use navigation or any other app that isn't either the stock music app or Poweramp. Unfortunately, this update didn't change a thing.

Are you on 4.1.2? Neither my razr or my wife's razr BT works with 4.1.2. However, I am now on CM 11 and it works like it should. Both are XT912.
