Today my 2 years old kicked my Foyer to the ground and the touch screen got busted, it cracked pretty bad. It was my right hand, I used for so many things. I used to work, for entertainment, it was a really useful tool. Now I can't see my life without a tablet. I tried to use my HP Slate 500 but it's just too slow to be useful.
Now I need two things. One to recover all the data that I have in the Foyer and the second is to find a replacement.
How can I transfer the data from the tablet to my PC with a busted touch screen? I can't even disable the ring lock. Tried to connect it to my PC but it didn't work at all. Can someone tell me how to make the transfer?
My other question will be, do I try to buy another Flyer on the net, they are discontinued at BestBuy? Should I get a Evo View? Or there is something better? By the way, the stylus is a must for my tablet. If you were in my position, what would you do, which tablet would you buy?
I'm using my wife's Kindle Fire, it's nice but I found it a little restricted.
If someone can help me out please let me know.
Thanks
Diego
Sorry to hear bout ur Flyer bruh. My flyer screen cracked on me a couple weeks ago also. I had a warranty with squaretrade but they couldn't fix it so they ended up giving me a reimbursement of the original price of my flyer when it bought it the day it came outwhich was $499.00. I was thinking of getting a different tablet but loved my flyer to much to switch. So i ended up buying a brand new EVO View off ebay for $289. 00 and pocketed the rest of my money. It was a win win situation. So if would suggest u get a EVO View for cheap off ebay and if u don't have a warranty i would recommend getting a squaretrade warranty.

If not already, either s off or HTC Dev unlock. Flash custom recovery. Hopefully you can see enough on the screen to navigate the menu go to mounts and storage and mount your device to your PC

Really sorry about your loss buddy,
Try these 2 softwares ( PC ), the might be of great asset to help you retrieve your data.

You could go with the other option and replace the screen. I replaced my LCD screen on my HTC View (Samething as flyer). It is not a simple job but can get you up and running like new. It is a pain like the new iphone screens. Have to take everything out to get to it. I would recommend getting the LCD ($110) and Touchscreen ($50). These can be difficult to separate but can be done if you take your time and save the $50.00.
I have another one am replacing for someone and will try and post pictures during the process. screen should arrive early next week.
May your Flyer rest in peace.
I'd suggest looking online in other countries. South Africa has stock at Dion Wired, Vodacom, & I think Makro. I'm sure if you searched their websites you could purchase one online & get it couriered.
Otherwise try the Jetstream. It's pretty decent

I solved the the broken Flyer problem, Sprint have the Evo View for $150. So I'm getting a new View. Now the problem will be how to transfer the data. I can't get the touch screen to work. I can't unlock it. If I connect it to my PC it's there any way to retrieve the data without using the Flyer touch screen. The screen is completely clear, I can see all the menus but can't use anything because the touch screen don't register the input.
Will try the links that are mentioned.
Thanks

Yes it does.

Sorry to hear.
Get the View for $235 while it lasts.
That's where something like Soti Controller would be extremely useful.
Alas, it does not exist.
If you were on Honeycomb, can you use an OTG cable and a powered USB hub with a USB mouse to navigate? I haven't tried this yet, but it might work.

Just got back from BB.
No pen in the box... but they did have them for purchase separately. $79.99

I got mine today as well.
It is much faster than I imagined, and even performs better than in the video walkthroughs I have seen online. A great selection of applications was included (this is my first Android device outside a Nook Color).
It felt heavy at first, but I played with it for 2-hours straight and never got tired from holding it. Definitely easier to hold than an iPad (I owned one).
HTC Watch is up an running, although no sign of OnLive... yet. I hope it comes.
Besides the pen, no case or sleeve was included either. I would have liked the case to be included at least. Like it wasn't bad enough I had to buy the pen!
I haven't even opened the pen yet, as I am enjoying using the tablet without it.
The screen is almost TOO bright, even at the lowest setting. In a mildly lit room, it can be blinding.
It came 50% charged and I have been using it for around 2.5-hours and just hit 15%, although I was hammering it pretty hard, testing everything out, and syncing all my emails, contacts, calendars, and music.
More to come...
Can anyone with a pen take a screenshot or PNG of your most normal note taking? Like how you would write on it in say a meeting or class.
It would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to root for tools like titanium backup, and to kill the cell standby process eating up my battery. I could be wrong, but I don't think rooting will affect the 3.1 update.
Just walked out of Best Buy with my new Flyer. Played with the demo unit and stylus, and I was VERY impressed at my ability to take legible notes and mark up documents. I have a week of vendor demos coming up at work, and I will put this thing through its paces marking up their white papers electronically. The Flyer is going to be a keeper!
I am really impressed with.mine.

Loving mine as well
Google Music Beta works well BTW, especially handy as Pandora isn't really optimized for this screen size/resolution.
Got mine as well. Nice device, but the camera quality is terrible.
Got mine today, unfortunately it's got a stuck pixel Trying to decide if I should just suck it up and keep it, or trek back out for a return. I really like the device.
I purchased one today. Overall I am pretty pleased with it so far. I am looking forward to the Honeycomb update. I bought a pen too but not sure how much I will actually use it.
Can someone go to abc.com and see if full episodes play smoothly. I want something that can play flash videos well and I know this is a good site to test.
Thanks
just got mine today from a contest I won and I have to say I am very surprised at how fast it boots and how well the pen responds to writing.
It has both an unlocked bootloader and access to recovery so I hope that it gets rooted soon.
I don't know if I should return the Acer Iconia Tab I just bought or keep both. One for notes when I am at school and the other for leisure/trips

I just now found something that looks like an little hair under mine screen off mine HTC Evo 3D. Its first time I spotted it.
I almost don't see it and I also don't think this falls under warranty and maybe it will just go away after awhile. But I got no idea how it got there. Anyway I wouldn't want to send it away under warranty if it even falls under warranty.
Anyone else saw something like this with there Evo 3D? I just found out this doesn't seem to be to strange. I got it almost in the left corner. If the dust get under the screen then it should somehow also go down in some time.
Take it to sprint because I'd be annoyed as hell looking at it. I love my EVO but the one thing I hate is when I see a ****ing hair stuck between. The bezel, sometimes its hard to pull out. Maybe that's how it got inside your phone

Well mine was bought in Germany in MediaMarkt. Its been 13 days ago that I bought it and just now when I was sitting outside and it was clear I could spot it and now I will be able find it to. I could go back, but I really don't want to have it go for warranty, I doubt if they give me another one. Btw I'm running an custom rom with sense 3.5, if I go back should I not flash an stock rom?
But when screen is on then I can not see it.
Didn't you know...? Debris under the screen is an HTC exclusive design trademark.
Well I knew that between the chinks there will become dirt between, that I just now als got.
But there is nothing I can do against it. But the dirt between the chink above the HTC logo I just removed very careful by using and double edge blade as those blades are very tiny, so it fits between the chink and I was able to remove it without damage the phone. But that dirt was obvious from some food, but in future it will happen again anyway and now it was just an small part, if it was more then I wouldnt take the risk to remove it.
Mine HTC Desire HD had also had dirt in the chicks, but it didn't disturb me.
I read online many HTC's have this dust problem. I guess no phone brand is perfect, even Apple not. Anyway it will not really disturb me if its just an small one which I can't see. I can only see it if I focus on it.

That's a bummer
Yes I think i'm going go back to the mediamarkt in germany today.
So they can switch it for me. But I don't know if they will do that.
I think its unacceptable that there is an dust part under mine screen and its just two weeks old so I don't wanna wait on warranty and they should just give me a new one.
Its clearly visibible this dust part and is about 1mm long. I'm also going ask € 20 back, they lowered the price with € 20, so going get that back to. I will flash an stock rom on it. If I keep 3.5 on it they can see I'm using custom firmware. Anyway I'm going try to switch it for a new one and get that € 20 back.
If they don't wanna switch it then I got to live with it as turning it in for warranty is to much.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA
I went back to MediaMark germany and after a long talk they keep saying no we don't give you an new one and only thing they could do is send it to HTC.
And that I didnt want. So now either sell it or live with it. I can almost not see the dust.

Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m
Dude i'm not selling it as new but as new state and that is an big difference. And no one off you knows if I tell the buyer or not. I already answered a question off someone on XDA who asked if this was the one with the little hair in it. Also I'm still awaiting answer from HTC I mailed them about this problem.
And I said yes and showed him a picture.
Btw is this an common issue with the Evo 3D about dust getting under the screen? I found about 4 to 6 threads about it on internet. I think I would like to keep the Evo 3D btw as I like the device and an HTC One X would cost € 270 more.
Not trolling, but that other thread was genuinely funny.
I think my EarPiece is blown. Severe low volume suddenly.
BT and SpeakerPhone works fine.
I have restored a backup from a month ago and it still is very low.
Since it's otherwise perfect and older HBoot I think it would be better to repair myself.
Before I rip it apart is there anything else I can check?
Is there a possible corruption on the Radio Side that the Backup would not have restored.
Has anyone else done this repair?
Thanks

I didn't want to get a Refurb. Which is what you'll likely get. I've read too many horror stories on those.
The part is only $10.00 and it does not look too bad to change.
You only need to go up where he folds the motherboard back before he starts disconnecting screen.

Then do this.

I had mine go out and honestly as long as you pay attention to replace it with the tabs (you'll see) going the right direction, it couldn't be easier to replace. Good luck.

Agreed with this
Its fairly simple to replace the earpiece infact it just sits in a slot and once you put on the board for the front facing camera it makes contact with it. screw it down and your done.
Dont worry about pulling the mother board back, as long as you take out the ribbons connected to the side of it (i cant remember but think theres 4 or 3) pull the mother board back and disconnect the 2 ribbons and a black wire.
Good luck

Yep... this is the problem I have as well... and is the prime example of how HTC quality has been crap for years now. I had this problem in the OG EVO as well. This is another reason why I am making the switch to Samsung as soon as they drop the SGS3 on us.
I had this exact same problem 2 weeks ago. Tried all the software hacks in the book to no avail, it's almost definitely your hardware. Sprint told me I could bring it in and they would replace the part for $35 (I don't have a protection plan). They said it would take them about an hour. HTC said I could send it to them and one of two things would happen: They would crack it open, determine it wasn't my fault, fix it, and mail it back free of charge OR they would crack it open, determine that it WAS my fault and either send it back still broke for $35 (inspection fee) or send it back fixed for "$60+". Either way HTC would have my phone for 6-8 business days. In the end, I bought the part off ebay for $7 and did it myself. It's really not too bad as long as you're careful with the motherboard portion if the disassemble. My speaker works flawlessly now. Good luck!

I've been reading through the RMA pieces and they are long and really don't end with good notes, but does anybody know of an escalation process for the Texas RMA center? I'm on my second go around with them after having the tablet since Feb where now I can't use it for more than 30 minutes without it locking up and / or rebooting and once it starts, it gets progressively worse until it just locks up and reboots at the first boot screen. It's happened both times with the tech support (so they even said it's not working right) even trying to go into the boot loader and doing a reset there and freezing up before I can even navigate over to do it).
Needless to say, the repair status is, "Product repair is in progress.-[WF9] Wait for Customer Confirmation-No Trouble Found". They haven't contacted me yet and really the trouble was found / seen by the tech on the phone. I use it for work non-stop (well, when I have it, back to pen and pencil now and explaining why I'm without it yet again) so I really need it fixed. Anybody have a way to escalate it? I really want it back and working. I loved it when it worked but now I feel that I was sold a defective product and they really don't have a repair department above if something is physically cracked.

Where did you purchase your Prime from? I might consider talking to the retailer, particularly if it was Amazon. I would explain to them the details of your situation and ask if they can do an exchange. You'd be happy to exchange this one for a working one, right?
I'm reasonably happy with my Prime. The features make Apple's product look like a toy. The post-sale support from ASUS, on the other hand, is absolutely horrible! After losing a couple of rubber feet on my dock, I sent a support REQ asking if I could get a set of rubber feet. They wanted me to do an RMA.
It's worth a try, asking your retailer...

Email Hai ([email protected]) he is the technical manager that was listed as a contact on the forums by Gary Key. He is not in Texas, he is in California however I worked with him on 3 separate RMA's for my prime and the guy is great. If you email him with the RMA number I am sure he can offer some assistance.
Hope this helps.
For anyone who has sent their prime in for RMA: do you recommend removing a screen protector before sending it? Will ASUS likely take it off? I have a Skinomi, and could probably get a new one under the lifetime warranty they have (if I have to take it off and it accidentally gets damaged), but if I can leave it on that would be ideal.
Thanks.

Bought an HTC One today. The camera appears to be defective. It has trouble focusing and is always blurry on the top right-hand side quadrant of the photo.
Since I'm pre-paid and bought from an individual, should I go to T-Mobile for a warranty replacement or direct to HTC? Obviously it's under warranty since it hasn't been out for over a year.
I know AT&T were jerks about warranty claims if you didn't purchase direct from them but don't know about T-Mobile.
Thanks.

The physical hardware is clearly under warranty, so hopefully they don't give me the runaround.
Before returning try changing the video resolution from super hd to hd and see if that fixes it. Then you should be able to switch it back and it should work fine. It doesn't just fix the video camera but the still camera as well.

Night photos are grain city too. Nothing good about it at all. FYI, I had and sold an HTC One (regretted it, bought another) and the photos were fantastic. This one is just a dud (hence why the seller only asked $450 cash - now I see why).
HTC support asked me if I wiped the lens with a lint free cloth. WTF do you think, lol?
Tap to focus just didn't work. In fact, nothing worked. Every photo is terrible. I really hope HTC support doesn't give me the run around.
(my backyard - yes we have two dogs and yes their pee kills the grass, but they are worth it)
Yeah that's about what mine looked like before. I had just written HTC to find out what I needed to do the replace it. This was literally just last night. I was up late about to flash the 1.29 Rom to see if that fixed it. I looked through the settings to see if there was a way to change the auto focus settings which there only is for video. I changed the resolution setting just to see if it might help and it completely fixed it. Not sure why but it seems like it was "stuck". It may or may not have been the same as your issue but sounds like it was. Whatever though, you get a new one so it all works out.

Anyone know how fast HTC repairs/replaces and ships back? They will receive the phone today and I'm hopeful to receive it back by this weekend. Realistic?
Well, just got the phone back. Slow ground shipping!
Aaaand HTC did absolutely nothing to the phone. The pictures are all still blurry. Infuriated right now. Two weeks and they did absolutely nothing, just shipped it right back to me with no notes, no repair, nothing.
Called up HTC. Of course they have "no notes" as to what was done to the phone. Here's a tip: nothing was done.
The "escalations team" was closed so they told me to call back tomorrow.
Just so I'm not crazy, is this considered a normal "ultrapixel" photo from this phone? I just took it. Basically, the tap to focus does absolutely nothing. I'm about to unload this junk to someone else and make it their problem. I can't go a full month without a working phone as my only option is to send it in again and have the HTC techs go "yep, looks good from here" and send it right back to me again. Just replace your defective hardware guys. Not hard.
It would'nt hurt to try
The worst they would say is no. Ive heard story's of people getting replacements from t mobile in your situation, if it was a manufacturers defect. I would just go into a store and be totally polite friendly with the rep and show that your completely bummed out about your new phone not working the way it should. From my experience, kindness can go a long ways with t mobile.

Not to press the depressing issue any more..but is that pic actually a focused zoomed in shot ..meaning your actually farther away then where the picture makes it look.
Was thinking that maybe your just to zoomed in with the shot... No photo ever looks any good fully zoomed ..I usually walk up closer less zoom =clearer picture.
But its just a idea I know your mad as hell .. And I agree the photo is horrific .

I am not using the zoom at all. Here's another one. They are all like this and HTC apparently thinks this is just fine.
Went to T-Mobile. The effectively told me to take a hike the instant they heard "I bought it from Craigslist."
Back to HTC I guess. Hey, no phone for a month. Fun.
Tmo will honor it by yeah unfortunately not if you did not but if from them

Is it obvious? Then don't ask stupid questions and you won't get obvious answers.
