Good day fellas,
I have a small question about full screen viewing on the prime / android tablets in general.
I've noticed the soft bar always stays on when I'm either playing a game in full screen or viewing a video.
I was under the impression that when viewing full screen material that the bar hides. I know my cm7 kindle fire does, but not sure if its a cm7 feature or HC feature, anyone can shed some light on the matter?

Honeycomb? That was soo last year..
I know what you mean, but is it on games aswell? Try Glowball or Riptide and see if it goes full screen. YouTube dosent just dims out the nav bar..
The thing is we have no hardware buttons, so there must be a way to come out of an application. Hence Dimming Navigation Bar..
My name is Optimus Prime and I send this message..
I can't seem to find riptide and i don't remember removing it but i do remember seeing at some point possibly before the ics update.
As for glowball it works fine but the softbar is always showing.

I remember people saying this was a benefit of on screen navigation buttons when referring to the Galaxy Nexus because it would give you a slightly bigger screen when watching videos. I was also disappointed when I fired up my first Amazon Prime video and the status bar remained. Thankfully the icons/time and everything disappears and all you are left with is the black bar and 3 very small gray dots where the navigation buttons remained but it still disappointed me. Hopefully, if the bootloader ever gets unlocked, the devs and their custom roms can deal with that issue.
I'm starting to think that it is a dev thing
About what you said of the galaxy nexsUs, when viewing full screen content, the soft bar is supposed to disappear and so ull use the full 4.65" of the screen. That's what they said in the Samsung unveiling conference.

Well I hoped that Asus after TF101 realized that the have to improve the build quality of their tablets. Imagine my madness when I discovered my new Prime is creaking...!!!
A little below of Top left corner of prime. God.....
TF101 was creaking but I never would thought that TF201 will be creaking too!
I thought it will be as good made as Ipad....
Well Asus - this is the last tablet I have bought from you...
Also got a question about the screen. Some times I can sense and see that despite of auto brightness off that the screen adjusts its brightness by itself. It is a little change but my sharp eyes can see this...
Do you have a similar thing?
Contrast changes dynamically when set to power saving mode.
TF201 / XDA premium
Yes I know. But I use all modes and feel the same that sometimes the screen changes a little the brightnes.
my prime seems pretty solid. maybe the glue on your glass panel needs to still set more. Man, Asus has really came up with hit or misses on a tablet being flawed or not. this is a great device though. at the area where you said you hear creaking, does it look like the panel is not flush there? where did you buy it from? you can always exchange it. I know some don't like having to send it off n wait for another one. hearing some of these panel or touchscreen issues be making me check mines on the spot. luckily mines don't show those symptoms.
Yes the brightness changes based on the lighting of the area at the time; it's called auto-adjusting. That is normal and I like that.
Mine is loose and not flush with the device on the bottom right but it is not a huge deal to me

If you push in on the glass in this spot does your volume rocker move?
no it does not
That sucks man. I would be really annoyed if i had a creak in my prime. I have to wonder if they rushed through fixing the wifi issues and damaged some of the primes while in the process. I have seen all of the pics with the scratched bezels that look like the techs were using a flat-head screwdriver to pry these things apart. I'm not sure if mine never went for repair or if the tech that did mine just had the right tools and skills but it seems to be a perfect specimen physically at least. I would love to read an inside account of this product release.

The brightness changes when using this app huh? When u touch the screen to scroll it quickly brightens then goes to normal? It seems like the xda app not the prime
Modded by MBOK
I have an HTC G2, and whenever I touch the screen on a lighter background it changes the tone of the background to a pinkish color. It does it in XDA app as well as web browser, almost anything with a white-ish background. Sounds similar to what your experiencing, it only happens when you touch the screen, right?
the problem with the self adjusting brightness accurs while playing or watching youtube. It doesnt matter if am toutching screen or using dock keybord or just a mouse. I do not know if it is on purpose.
Did you notice the same issue?

I do. None of the other issues but noticed this brightness geekin out with the xda app
Ugh. Mine starting creaking today. It is like the left hand side of the screen has separated something. The right side feels solid. The left has flex to it - like the glass gives ever so slightly, resulting in a very annoying 'click'.
This really sucks, because otherwise the device is fine (no stuck pixels, wifi and GPS works). Guess I'll wait a week or so for Best Buy to get some local stock before taking it in for exchange.

I noticed that my xda app and all Tapatalk apps change brightness for some reason when pressing things I went into the settings on the app and changed the theme to dark works great now. I I also get a creak where my volume rocker is which is cool with me I figure its just because the gap where the rocker is I just don't press it

My TF101 had this and my TF201 does wiggle a bit in the top left. It makes sense with the volume controls there.
I thought I was in the clear with prime issues as I had none for over 3 months but I just noticed today I have 1 dead pixel (( its only noticble in whiteish backgrounds but its really annoying and I can't send it back cuz I've had it since the beginning of January. I can't even see it in non white backgrounds though. Is it even possible to fix this because it just happened today? Also by serial number starts with b not c so its one of the early models

There are a couple of apps in Google Play that might help. They play a pattern of shifting colors repeatedly over either the entire screen or a small area. This can sometimes help, although I think it's more common for stuck pixels (i.e., those stuck showing a single color) to be fixed compared to dead pixels.

I second this! Pixel Fixer on the market did the trick for a stuck pixel I had on mine.
Well the pixel only shows as the colour white. also pixel fixer didnt work
Are you sure it isn't LCD mura and not a dead pixel? Do a quick search for LCD mura and you'll see what I'm talking about. I have LCD mura, which is only visible on white backgrounds, and it appeared after a few months of ownership.

Well i dont think its lcd mura. Its a pixel upon whiteish backgrounds that shows up contrastingly to the white. Under other colours, its very hard to notice but it is still there

Man! I noticed the very same thing while on holiday last week. Couldn't believe it.
My Prime had 3 dead pixels out of the box. It's a C3 and other then the pixels the device functions flawlessly...I'll probably just wait and see if anything else goes wrong as I don't plan on unlocking the bootloader anytime soon.
Got mine right before the year end or around that time, one of the first models. Just noticed today that it has some stuck pixels, a few in a spot somehow. Trying some pixel fix apps, but it might be stuck. Damnit, need to RMA already? It's 3-4 months old...this is why I didn't want to unlock the bootloader yet. Asus quality, I've done nothing to the tablet to make this happen, yet if I had the unlocked bootloader they would have blamed me and probably not fix it since it has a void warranty. Even though it seems like a hardware defect. Stupid.

I also have a similar issue with mine, 3 bright pixels that only show against white backgrounds. I am waiting till they get these devices more stable before RMA, which everybody should be able to do even if you get it in January, since it is covered under the hardware warranty.
This may seem a silly question, but what the heck.
I want to use my Prime as a nightstand clock. If I put the clock application into the "dark" mode, it properly doesn't turn off the screen -- seems perfect.
It dawned on me that it might be "bad" somehow for the hardware, or reduce the lifetime of the LCD. The clock app moves the time around the screen, so I'm not concerned with image retention... just wondering about any reasons why this is a dumb thing to do with an LCD -- or if I'm just being paranoid with my new toy, and it's completely fine.
Thoughts?
Perfect post for Earth Day

i know when i leave my screen on any one image for an extended period of time i can see a faint image on my screen after i change it. (burn in) It goes away after a little bit but really i wouldnt suggest leaving your screen on for a clock, its not made for that.
I would not either you may develop a dead pixel which would suck.

I've had my Prime for a few weeks and I've been wondering if everybody's screen looks like mine. For most things it's fine, but it seems a little... bright? Washed out, maybe?
One instance where it's really clear are Google ads. You know the ones right beneath the search bar that are boxed off in an off-white or tannish kinda color? Yeah, those are just barely perceptible. I've accidentally clicked them a few times.
I downloaded an app called Screen Adjuster and lowered the brightness setting a bit, which has helped. Just wondering if this is something that affects all Primes.
Thanks!

***SOURCE OF ISSUE FOUND: This game will only render correctly to a screen that is partially occupied by a persistent nav bar. If you disable it (to use PIE, for example), the graphics will degrade. This does not affect performance.
---Original question below---
Anyone try this on the ol' TF300T yet? I have. It seems the graphics are stuck at a low resolution setting, despite all the graphic levels being available to be chosen in the menu.
I have, but I suggests leaving it at low or really low. It really lags and get hiccups on high settings, even with medium settings that come default in the game
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 4
Actually, it works great on my TF300T on highest settings. The resolution is really low, though :/
I've tested it on Me301t with same hardware, first you can not download it from google play so you have to get it from gameloft shop , after that you find the game to be nearly unplayable ! framerate in some places drops even below 5fps , in other places it is around 15-20fps, i don't understand why same resolution and same hardware as nexus 7 we barely get anything near experience of playing Asphalt 8 in nexus 7 (tegra 3).

I emailed Gameloft about it. After some back and forth, they told me "This means that your device doesn't support higher graphics." I replied to this reaming them on the Tegra 3's capabilities and how other software with more impressive graphics runs just fine on this hardware. Hopefully, there will be a fix down the road. In the mean time, if you bought the game, complain to Gameloft. They won't know there's a problem unless we tell them.

it runs quite well on cm10.2 (on high settings) about the first 10 seconds it lags and then it's gone!

Mine runs fine as well, however, it looks like it was made for a low-resolution device and those graphics are being scaled up to fit the tablet's screen. Fuzzy fonts, highly-aliased polygons... How does yours look?

the same :'(
i recommend you to install a FPS meter and then see how is your FPS, for example test iceland map when there are rocks like roof in near end of the classic runs in first season and see the fps. For me it gets around 5fps which i don't call playable ! and again 15-20fps is not good either this is a race game and you should at least have 30fps which GS4 don't get it too

That's actually strange. I just installed that latest nightly and tried it. The game looked like it should. I made no modifications to the settings of the ROM, just enough to install Titanium Backup and restore Asphalt 8. The only thing I've noticed different is that the nav bar was on the screen. Normally, I run without it, instead using PIE. The nav bar was always present when the game was running. I'm going to restore my PAC-Man rom and turn the nav bar back on to see if the problem is linked to the available screen space.
*EDIT: Yup. It's screen space-related. Seems that the game can't render to an actual 1280x800 space. It was made to fit within the space not including the nav bar.
mine works perfectly i sent my tf300t to some chinese guys and the change the screen and replaced it with asus tf 700 screen and also changed my cpu to snapdragon now i have a tf300t with a tf700 screen and they only charged me $40 now my tf300t work flawlessly with gaming

Sorry forgot about this post lol xD what do you meant by highly-aliased polygons? and another thing, Gameloft hardly optimize games on tegra 3, I mean have you ever compared how their games look like in the iPad mini* which had less gpu and cpu power compared on tegra 3 and it looks much better

I figured out the cause of the issue. I don't have the status or nav bars visible on the screen (I use PIE and Halo). That leaves a full 1280x800 of screen to render to. The game is written for stock Android configurations, where there is a persistent nav bar and/or status bar, which leaves about 1280x752 or something lower than 800. The game will attempt to render to the full 1280x800 space with graphics made for the slightly lower resolution, then is stretched to fit the full space.
The only way to correct it is to turn the bar(s) back on.
How to always show the Nav Bar?
If the problem is sorted out because of the resolution change after the autohide of the Nav Bar, so how can we disable the autohide feature?
I tried to add to the Build.prop: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 and the nav bar still autohides
Ok well I have the brand new samsung s9 plus and it will not let me play on high settings even though my phone has the best graphics on market. I click high graphics on settings and it tells me to restart app to apply settings but than it just stays on medium. Anyone have any idea in how to turn it on high settings?
