I cannot do anything to get my phone out of this bootloop that it is in. I am running senseless rom from scottsrom. I did a fix permissions in rom manager and now i cannot get it out of this loop. I pulled everything out and restarted it, no sd card, no sim card, back is off. Its still bootlooping. pleaseeee help.. any suggestions?
with the sd card out i can get past the bootloader screen and into amon ra recovery, but no sd card means its pointless. Still bootloops though. If i have it in its asking me to update, but i dont remember leaving anything on the root of the sd card. I dont know whats going on here.
If the only thing you need to do is remove a file from the SD card, then you can use an adapter and delete it using your computer, or just borrow a buddy's phone and insert the card and delete it there. Worst case, you buy yourself a new blank SD card and copy the folder (with full path) for your nandroid backups over to the new card and try restoring a backup.
If those recommendations at not helpful, you can do a lot from ADB. I recommend following some of the available processes in the development section to reinstall the appropriate kernel (boot.img).

it says my sd card is blank and it doesnt seem like its mounting.... i took it out and formatted it to fat32 and its still saying blank sd card i did this a bunch of times..
If you formatted it, it is blank. What's the problem?
What does it say in settings/SD & phone storage? Have you tried formatting it there?
tried both put it in comp formatted it put it in phone formatted in there too says mount sd card like its not reading it
and it also said the blank thing when i had stuff on my sd card
so i guess im effed cuase i cant put anything on my sd card phone wont read it so i cant get back to stock...
Try formatting it on your computer or phone, put it back into your comp and put some files on it

i did and i even tried a diff sd card wont read that either
I'm new to this so someone please correct me if I'm wrong but you can download the stock Rom from your phone and use Rom manager to go to stock, there is 2.5g of space on phone
my problem and worry is i wanna get unrooted so i can call and this will prob be covered under warranty and i wont have to pay the rediculous deductable on insurance if i have to go another root...
and also you cant use rom manager unless sd card is mounted i tried and mine doesnt mount
So you have tried multiple SD cards in your phone and none of them work?
yes i have tried a couple and the thing pops up in notification bar blank sd card and in sd and phone storage it says mount it but doesnt work
Well if you have tried more than one, formatted and all, and it still doesn't work I would say that your card slot has obviously stopped working. There is no way to unroot without access to the SD card AFAIK.
well that just sucks guess im gonna have to break this thing to make an insurance claim there goes 90 bucks downt he effn drain
Before you take your phone back to Verizon, try connecting to the phone with adb. If you can cd to the sd card and ls the contents, you can push the RUU to the card and return to stock. I am currently trying to resolve the same problem where the SD card fails to mount on PC and suspect it might be related to root. I might end up returning it to stock to test my hypothesis if I can't find a solution in a few minutes; I'll post back with my results.
Okay, this may or may not be relevant to the original poster, but after more investigation, it appears that this issue might be related to some corruption of system files related to handshaking with Windows in Drive mode that occurred since rooting the device. Restoring the rooted system image resolved the problem. The issue was unrelated to kernels, though, since flashing the default kernel did not improve anything.
If you can access the SD card with ADB, your best bet is to restore your rooted stock backup or re-flash the stock image to see if that corrects your issues prior to returning your phone.

If the phone can't read the SD card it doesn't matter what he can get on it, the phone has to be able to read the sd card to flash anything.
If you have the proper images, they can be flashed using fastboot, which doesn't require an SD card.
I am rooting my daughters Droid Eris. I used the app from the market and flashed Cyanogen 7. Everything went well until I tried to start restoring her apps and found that the phone is saying there is no sd card. When I go into setting to mount it it is greyed out and wont do anything. the gallery and rom manager also say there is no sd card. the card I am using is not partitioned. I tried taking a partitioned sd out of my old Cliq and putting it in and then it says it has a unsupported system or something like that but I did notice that the mount sd in settings was no longer greyed out. If I reboot into recovery it will recognize the card because it lists what is on it. I have searched everything I can find and cant find any answers. Oh, also, when I plug in the usb to the computer it does nothing then either. Any Ideas??
Go into recovery since her phone can read the card from there and reformat the card. You may also want to wipe data and dalvik and reflash the rom to be on the safe side.
Make sure that you backup anything currently on the SD card before formatting it, which you can do from the usb-ms toggle option in recovery. You will need to copy the rom file back to the phone after formatting the card which can be done from this option as well.
There should be an android.secured folder on the SD card. Delete that. You don't want it on there so make sure you don't copy it back to the card (it will come back after the first boot and it can then be left alone, I like to delete mine before each flash though to avoid possible problems.)
EDIT - DONT FORGET TO FLASH GAPPS RIGHT AFTER FLASH THE ROM! ALL CM7 ROMS REQUIRE THIS!
Let me know if you have any problems

Totally of the topic BUT I'm Selling a fully rooted Droid Eris running CM7 port ROM for $90...interested PM me.
I posted this question in the general forum but now I am posting it here because I think this is probably the more appropriate forum. So I am a noob and I may not know enough to be rooted, but I love the custom ROM's they work so much better than stock. Anyway, I started using the new Theory of Ginger Candy ROM and all was going well, until I downloaded the power options download that lets you restart into recovery from the power options. I downloaded it and then rebooted into recovery using ROM manager then I installed the .zip file for the advanced power options. Then, I rebooted and it freezes up at the lightning bolt. I let it sit on there for 20 min thinking maybe it was just going to take a long time then I did a battery pull and rebooted and got stuck again at the lightning bolt. Next I tried to pull the battery and then reboot into recovery by holding the volume down key and power key at the same time. This reboots into bootloader and automatically runs bootloader and then it asks if I want to update. How can I stop it from running bootloader automatically and then be able to scroll down into recovery? Or do I just flash the Radio again and will that take me back to a stock ROM that is with the radio, and then I can restore my backup I made before installing this advance power option .zip. Thanks for your help guys!

Uh... Yep! I think that we've found the problem! Ha!
If you don't have a SD card reader there is a trick over in the General forum for how to get around that!
Thanks for you help everyone. I now know to delete the PGOIMG file from my sd card promptly after flashing a radio. I couldn't find the way around not having an sd card reader but I did find a way around it. I did make a back-up but I couldn't log into CWM recovery with the PGOIMG file on my SD card, and I didn't have a microsd card reader or anyway to plug the sd card into my computer to get the file off, so I found a tricky little way to do it. I pulled the SD card just barley out and held the battery in at an angle so that it didn't push the sd card back in. Then with the sd card out I was able to get into recovery. Then came the tricky part of getting the sd card back in without loosing a conection with the battery. I ended up using a bent paper clip to push the sd card into place. After a few attempts I was able to get the sd card in place and the battery back in place while staying in cwm. The next problem was that it sitll wouldn't recognize my sd card. I went into mounts and tried to unmount and remount the sd card with no luck, but then I noticed in the advanced options there is the option to reboot recovery. This allowed me to reboot back into recovery and then it saw my sd card. So after all that I was able to restore my back-up version of B1.7. I now promptly remove the PGOIMG file after flashing a radio.
I just purchased a new 16gb SD card and have been using an old 8gb that I had from a previous phone since my original 16gb broke in half. At the time of it breaking I was on cm7 7/13 build and otb .13 kernal for cm7. I copied all the files that I had backed up from the old SD and pasted them onto the new 8gb while adding the latest cm7 build and glitch kernals. I just booted into recovery to try and flash these items and it is telling me that there is an error mounting the SD card and under mounts it will not work when I try to mount either. I don't know why this is because all the files on the card are viewable from the regular phone interface and it says that the card is mounted. I just can't enter the "choose zip from SD card" menu in cwm. any idea as to why this is or how I can remedy it?
thanks in advance.

same problem with "cannot mound SD card" in CWM, though I used this same SD card to update to the CM7 7/13 release, but now cannot update to the newest one.. please help!
NEVER worked with COMROM before....HOWEVER
Just like a computer (in a way) your phone saves certain things like how to operate or run on this phone.
Here's my suggestion
Put your mem card in (make sure everything is backed up still) and start the phone NORMAL not in CWM, as you said it reads it just fine so go into:
Settings> Storage
Here hit "Erase SD Card" if it's unavailable just unmount, then proceed
Once you have completed this, put ONLY the .zip files you need back onto the card, via computer...or high speed usb cable, whatever you want but just add the files you absolutly want to do.
Go into CWM and try again....
If it works then go back and only bring onto your card files/pics/vids you ABSOLUTLY want and leave the extra stuff off (meaning maybe one single file on the card is giving the phone a bad taste so the phone is rejecting it.)
Let me know how it goes!
Best of Luck!
Used SD Formatter on my PC, put back the files I backed up onto the SD card, and was able to flash newest CM7! Thanks!
thanks for the info... but sadly my dinc. 2 is set to be delivered tomorrow as I am having the missed call issue quite frequently. I am really going to miss the great dev team and support group that has grown for the fascinate, but it's a shame that this issue is forcing many to jump ship from an otherwise excellent device. thanks again.

I have finally unlocked the bootloader, and went on to step 2 to install clockworkmod. I have read through the whole thread, followed the directions step by step, but can't get this done.
I don't know where I am going wrong, but I cannot get the phone to bring up the "do you want to update" screen as per the instructions in hboot.
When I go into hboot, it goes through the scanning and I can see the file, but then it goes to the hboot screen asking for nothing. I have been trying for 2 hours, with no luck. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks
I also had problems so I just installed it using rom manager and all was good.
make sure its on the root of your EXTERNAL sd card. the phone calls it sd2 or something. also, dont unzip the file.
Lastly, and this is important, dont use rom manager to install cwm, because its not a full install, its a temporary install. and if something goes really wrong with your phone, your going to need a legit cwm recovery to fix it. dont rely on rom manager... learned that the hard way..

I think this may be my problem, I don't know where to put the file. I downloaded the file, connected my phone to PC, clicked on disk drive on phone, opened up the removable disc on PC, then moved file from PC to removable disc of phone. So, it seems my issue is I am not placing the file correctly. I see a whole bunch of folders, my music and pics, but I don't see anything that says sd2.
I am really new to this, so I guess maybe my question should be, when you say "root of your external sd card", what does that mean? Thanks.
I had the same issue until I went to go to restart the phone from the fastboot menu and then the option finally came up.
The external sd card is the one that you would put into your phone. The main storage area is the root of your sd card. Kind of like if you just double clicked your C: drive. Nothing super special about it. Where you put it is exactly where it needs to be.
sdcard2?

Do you have a memory card that you put in your phone?
A microSD card?
When you connect the phone with a microSD card, the root of your SD card would be simply "dragging and dropping" the file right ONTO the card.
Meaning do not put it in any folders within that card. Just on the card itself.
When you double click to open the card you should see the file in the list of things listed.
Hope that helps.
I indeed was using an sd card. I dragged the file and put on the sd card. I then went into hboot, and nothing. I also looked at the files I have on the card, and I dont have sd or sd2 using astro. I am going to try another sd card and see how that works. I just cant figure out what the problem is.

So, I have finally did it. I may be crazy, but I used a different sd card, and did it the exact same way I did it with the other sd card, and it updated. I don't know why, but it did. I put my old sd card back in, because it has everything I saved on it. Hopefully that will not mess anything up.
Now to install a custom ROM. I need to read on this, because I don't know hot to this part yet, lol.
Thanks for everyone's help.
