Hey guys I forgot who had requested a widget to show/hide the system bar In Honey Comb, but here it is! I had a couple people test it before I released it to the market. This is to be used by people who use the Hardware Buttons in HoneyComb. Enjoy
March 18, 2012
Version 3.0 has been released! It includes a smaller widget (1×1) that was requested by users as well as the ability to restore the status bar when the screen turns off. The latter feature allows the widget to be used by more devices that do not have hardware keys.
Along with version 3.0 I have also released a donate version. This version is exactly the same as the free version but costs one dollar for those who feel generous!
You can download it on the android market place by clicking Here for free and Here for donate
Feb 13, 2012
Version 2.0 brings along a new layout as well as more reliable code!

And just incase someone trys this without hardware buttons and opens an app while the bar is hidden the command you can run to get your bar back is:
Code:
am startservice -n com.android.systemui/.SystemUIService
If you feel like donating all money will be put towards my school loans
thanks for this...i haven't installed it because after my initial grumbling i actually prefer the HW buttons off, but it's good to have options
also, no one else replied...SO THANKS

Thanks Victor, works very well and I really like the looks of the screen without the bar
Edit: can the icon be themed?
This is a lot better than honeybar which gets in the way. Thanks!
Unfortunately, htc scribe apps still don't like the removed bar. Good for watching video and reading pdfs though.
EDIT: I have a small request. Can you please make the buttons or hitboxes a little bigger? Sometimes it takes a frustratingly large amount of touches to register a show or hide.
Thank you. Great app.

Actually, in that line, I would simply suggest a one-cell toggle (on or off). It was a somewhat curious decision to make two buttons instead of an on/off toggle.

Good news, may I suggest to make the icon configurable or if it's impossible, make it like the standard WiFi, GPS etc widgets so it can blend nicely

Version 2.0!
Just updated the widget might take a while to reflect on the marketplace but I changed the layout as suggested, it now has a single button. I also optimized the code and changed how things are done internally to ensure that the bar is hidden/shown. Hope you guys enjoy
P.S If you guys want a new icon Post a 512x512 icon im really bad at being creative lol. Ill let you guys choose the best icon and ill change it up
just indispensable.
Just found your update--love it!
I instaled this but v 1.0 - i loved functonality but not the look on it and hard to press a button. So i was very happy to see this. Went on market instaled v 2.0 but no widget apears . App is listed in instaled app. Any help? I did try to uninstal and reinstal; did reboots in between as well.

check in data/app for the apk and try installing it that should make it work not sure why it wouldn't install normally for you

I like the fact that the widget is a toggle, and maybe this is a silly question, but why do you make it take two icon widths (2x1) rather than just a normal 1x1 icon?

So I was motivated by a tweet from Anderweb (ADW developer). I watched this video and instantly set my phone up this way.
Anyone willing to make some cool wallpapers specific to our phones (ie, the name of ROMs or "Vibrant").
I posted a more generic thread here, but was hoping to focus more on ones for our phones here. In that thread though, I did link to everyone/give proper credit and give download links for the wallpaper and a transparent icon!

I've never had any problems with LP or ADW. Any .png that isn't too big should work. Try this one if you want. It has always worked for me.

Mustangboy88 posted some new wallpapers (same layout). I really hope some new wallpapers are added soon...
Any of the vibrant themers willing to take a run at this? Specifically for a trigger background, haha.
Thanks for sharing this it looks neat. Was gonna take a stab at a W7 type LP.setup, but this looks very cool.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
There are some new wallpapers being added in the other thread... I think I am going to take a stab at a Trigger one a little later.
Looks like I just found my next project. Been thinking about jumping into theming, but don't have the patience/time. This will be perfect.
There are some great examples of this buried on the main "post you homescreen" thread.

I have been using this concept on my phone for awhile, but I've never been a big fan of either LP or ADW (personally, I prefer Zeam). For my setup, I use Desktop VisualizeR for the transparent icons. If you are still having problems with FCs, give it a shot.

I've no talent with making wp, so I use various wp that I found on here. I tend to use minimalistic theming so I use the transparent Icons as a method of keeping my home screen clean while keeping it functional. What was shown in OP is far more sophisticated than anything I came up with on my own.

yesterday was my first day, so I certainly am no expert... but this is what I was doing to place icons and setting a shadow.....
open a new project, 800x960 I think?
ALT + Backspace makes it all Black
new layer, File > Place, choose icon, resize it, move it to where I want it and place it.
right click on the icon layer, duplicate, CTRL+T, right click, flip vertical.
Move it below the icon so it looks like a shadow and place it.
grab the eraser, change opacity to 30-40% and run over the bottom icon so it looks faded.
Once you do that, it looks like a shadow.... that is how I was doing it. I would love to learn how to just make a black shadow beneath the icon, because my next one is going to be glass shelves on a textured black background... with smaller/cleaner icons.
If I can get it back up and running, I've got some professional level 3D title/logo modeling and animation software (I used to work for the company), which would allow me to composite 3D icons drop them over whatever background I wanted. I'd be happy to share. I'll see what I can do about getting the software installed on my new computer this weekend.
All I'd need is .ai files of the icons with proper vector paths. I no longer have Illustrator.

Alright, so I did this mock-up to explain:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is my idea of a pretty neat launcher. Let me explain.
It's a giant launcher where everything is made up of "panels" which is essentially what a widget would be normally, except instead of small icons and widgets making up a grid, you would rather make up this entire tower of "panels" you can scroll through like so:
Once you reach the bottom (like so), you have the option of adding or entering edit mode in which you can change the placement of panels, configure panels, or add more. Also notice the stationary panels at the top and bottom. I figure the top would could be configurable to look however you like or replaced with another replacement panel made for staying at the top at all times. (i.e. you can't replace it with a Last.FM panel, you would have to go about finding a panel that is absolutely meant to be at the top.)
I figure this could also be a pretty accessible thing for everyone in terms of making new panels. Someone would release the base panel code, and then people can configure it to do some pretty neat things, I figure.
I dunno, this just seemed kind of cool in my opinion. I can think of all sorts of panels and stuff like that too - a Favorites/Folder panel, gallery panel, music panel... etc.
Also, I threw this mock-up together pretty fast. I figure the Facebook and Twitter panels would have more to it, heh.
So whatcha think?
EDIT: On a side note, what I was imagining isn't really widget status where you can interact with it so much - you click on it or the link or whatever corresponds with whatever (i.e. you click on a tweet) and it brings you to where you need in order to comment on it or like it through FB and what not.
Hey man, first off, u may want to request this moved to the Apps section. I see the dev side of it but ppl around here get very picky about what should go where. Second, cool idea, im not much one for these kinds of home screens but some ppl like them and the more kinds out there the better.
You may want to check out slide screen from larva labs. sounds very similar.
I believe this is what WP7 is trying to achieve but failing short of it....
Your concept is wonderful (not exactly original because of WP7), but I still like it. To do this you will need some mad skillz with Java and change up the framework and re-organize the notifications/alerts/alarm aspects of the it.
Also the facebook/twitter integration will need to know how to communicate with each respective API.
yeah, this is going in themes & apps.
In the other thread I mentioned that uh, I'm not a developer for anything, let alone Android. I just threw this mock-up out there just as an idea.

The only problem I see is that a lot of widgets would need to be reinvented to fit the new panel system. I don't want to do what the W7 Launcher did and just place the widget in the middle of a box 'cause that... That doesn't look good.
Here's some ideas for panels I pulled out of my brain:

Unless maybe there was a way to remove the background of the widget or force fonts onto widgets, but then again I know nothing regarding the difficulty of this so... Yeah.
But then again, there could be like master panels that have the ability to be set to whatever music program you want from there.
That would minimize the amount of panels that needs to be made. A friends panel = Twitter, Facebook, etc. A music panel (Like Phantom Music Widget) = a lot of music apps. And then maybe a widget panel where if you configure it you can have it attempt to remove the background of the widget so it looks somewhat right on the panel. I dunno.
I dunno man but you have everyone dying to have this made haha

These lockscreens are awesome, much more fun than widgetlocker. The only problem is they all need resizing to fit our screens.
I've been trying but without a script and my lack of knowledge its hard work. If you rename the. mtz to .zip then extract it and find lockscreen, rename that to lockscreen.zip and extract that you can edit manifest.xml and resize everything to fit our screens, Ive been dividing all the sizes by 50% to make everything fit on the screen and then trial n error to move everything to the right place. Does anybody know an easier way??

Arrrggghhh so close, this is frustrating !
This one is VA 3way minimal lockscreen, it has a white animated line that should move down between the 2 slider icons when there in the right place and when pressed a phone and sms icon appears at either side which you drag the centre icon to, took me an hour and half to get that close.
Edit: a default one I started last night but forgot to resize the images.

Aaaaaaargh lol it reminds me of the frustrations I got with chronotopia. Just a little bug I found with unlocking..... aswell as the volume and home button method I found holding the back button kills the app and restores original lockscreen too. It's a cm7. Back button kill option I know but for me a lockscreen should only have 1 method to unlock and this app has 3 and for this reason " I'm out " lol
" once its gone,its GONE."
True and I give up too, its too much work for me. this apps still in early stages so fingers crossed it'll get better features and hopefully someone else who is better than me will port all the lockscreens.

No I can't turn back button kill off due to the fact I use this function.

This is based off of Adrenaline LE by Team Nocturnal, but SHOULD work on any 2.17 based rom.
It is Universal, in the sense that it can be used on Odex/Deodex roms for either CDMA or GSM
Some of the cool stuff you'll find inside are:
Transparent System
Animated app drawer and personalize menu
100% beats compatible (if you have the proper kernel)
Slide to clear notifications
Roam Only option
Leedroid Tweaks
3D homescreens, screen calibration and TV out options in settings/display
A pretty nifty battery icon that blinks while it's charging.
Probably more. But I don't want to ruin any surprises. (that, and I just don't remember what all is added to this thing.)
Thanks always to
Gruesomewolf and Team Nocturnal
Jeffsenace, Fernando Sor and everyone at Bad Seed Customs
Selders, Budeone, Jyarborough, and everyone who continues to support my little projects.
The icons seen in the screenshots are available as a zip in the same link as the theme.
Enjoy!

Loving this theme like your others but one question,... is there any way I can get the App title names back?
how do u install icons zip?
It's just a zip with a bunch of different icons in it. Unzip onto your sdcard, then use desktop visualizer (free in the market) to change your desktop icons. It takes awhile, but it comes out looking pretty nice. After you get finished, just go into titanium backup and save HTC (desktop). Then, if you flash a new rom you can just restore that, and your home screens come back just like you left them.

I think it stopped working a loooooooooong time ago. I recommend deleting a lot of the Apps you never use since they can make your phone slower and cause a lot of battery drain.
Yeah, I just flash so much and I probably completely redo my phone at least once a day. I need to clean up my tibu. That's where all that junk is coming from.
You got it even better from original act. Been running this since you first released it. Just love it. I got quick Couple questions,

Very nice man. Not the stock sense toggles I like but will work until we ever get them!!
Not an iPhone.....
quick tip on this it requires a persistant notification to function but you can change the icon to transparent. Moves all notifications over one spot but is a small neusance when weighed agasint the benefit.

you can make it dissappear but the widge then bounces around and doesnt stay at the top of the notifications. its a trade off im not sure im willing to accept. anyway this is the only option really until aosp :/

Hmm. Well I'm off DNA for a couple days. Activating note again and testing it that a multi window hack finally came out!!

Just an FYI - there is also a built-in widget that toggles between silent, vibrate, and sound - also for GPS/Location, WiFi, BT. Not very pretty or as elegant a solution as the power bar, but they did include it. More like an after thought. Also, they are separate 1x1 buttons rather than a full 4x2 or 4x1 bar, so you can be a little more flexible in where you place them.
I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed in Sense - coming from CM10 or another AOSP ROM, I'm feeling clunky and slow... But I have faith in the devs around this place... it's only a matter of time.

Widgetsoid has always been among a favorite of mine, especially given the recent updates. I suggest checking it out.

I don't think any skin will beat aosp in speed. But sense 4+ is a definite improvement over previous sense versions. I agree though that it most likely is just a matter of time before we get some aosp goodness. CM10 on this phone would be ridiculous.
