I have rooted my phone and really want to get webtop (and mirroring if possible) through hdmi. I am on a mac and am new to ADB but I just cant seem to figure out how. Please help!
Easiest way would be to use WetDream 1.3.0 ROM, which I think is the best ROM so far.
It comes with Landscape HDMI through HDMI port.
Cheers

Hi there,
Has anyone figured out how to get an external USB webcam to work with the Motorola Atrix. Keyboard and mouse are possible via webtop and powered USB hub hack. How about webcam though. Assuming Atrix can go to USB host mode, external webcam should be possible. But has anyone tried?
Thanks!

As an added link, looks like webcam support for the nook has already occured, but wondering what the similarities may be.

From my understanding, we should just need the drivers. I have a cam at home I test, but I'm a complete noob with Linux, so I probably won't have any luck with installing drivers. (Though I'll certainly be looking through some of the webtop threads to see if I can figure it out. I'm sure we can find the drivers online...it's just a matter of getting them installed.)

As demonstrated by the Nook hack, Linux would support UVC compliant webcams. I beleive those drivers are running the builtin cameras as well.
I tried this today but it says hdmi is not supported. Any way to get it working? Will the webtop hack play Sprint TV.
Not to be a nay sayer, but, why worry about Sprint tv when Hulu and ch131 work great over webtop, although ch131 will work fine without the dock.
Still working on getting Hulu to work, without webtop, the modified flash wasn't being recognized correctly, but that is probably a simple fix,
But if u have the dock there is better options and more content then Sprint tv.

Is it possible to use a web cam with the cm7 rom through the usb port?
What that's called is 'usb hosting' and as of now we don't have that working, we'll get that working eventually in the new 3.x kernel but as for now it isn't supported on any roms.

Thank you for your fast reply.
I also think it would be cool to get IP Webcam support on the NT. You can use the IP Webcam app to use your Android phone as a webcam on a Linux machine, but it goes through V4L, which I don't think works for Android, sadly.

Hey everyone,
I just got an atrix and I'm curious about the whole web top thing. Just a few quick questions, if someone has the time.
1. does web top only work with stock based Roms? I'm running th3bill's aokp milestone 6. If no, will the official ice release open 4.x roms?
2. Do the modified webtop packages, ie ubuntutop, improve the experience in terms of speed and versatility?
3. Lap dock or media dock?
4. Do any of you actually find yourselves using t regularly?
I currently have my Mac mini hooked up to my TV for movie watching, music listening, and web browsing. I'm looking to substitute it with probably the media dock.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks guys

Hi there and welcome aboard!
To answer your questions:
1) Yep. Webtop only works with stock based roms, aka Blur roms. Yes, when official ICS comes out, it will have 4.0 weptop support.
2) Indeed, they improve the experience. I was using Ubuntop and it was pretty nice.
3) I have a lapdock. I think is better than the media dock. If you want to use the media stuff, you just need to connect the phone via HDMI to the TV, and use the media interface to use your stuff.
4) Actually, right now im not using it much, mostly because i hate being in GB, and im using JB roms for now. Never the less, i still use it morriring my phone screen to the lapdock. It works pretty nice too.
Hmm...my guess is that your Mac Mini is going to work better than your phone phone. You can install an app to control your Mac mini from your phone tough. Mobile Mouse Pro is the name of it.

I am currently using a wireless (usb) and mouse (bt) wih the mac mini. I was hoping I could get a usb wireless kb and mouse for the media dock and just plug in my phone and keep doing what I'm doing now.
Anyway, thanks a bunch for the info. I found out the media dock is like $25 on Amazon and the lapdock is selling for like $60 on some website! I should just get both haha
