Dont mean to be an ass but what in the world is with the 8 different types of mdeejay builds. I honestly think they are cluttering up the forums and just causing confusion for me at least. When I looked through the different types they all seemed to be around the same stage of development. Can all of these get consolidated with better explanations?
Based on different roms, Desire HD, Desire Z etc
Full hogwash!

Because he is trying to figure out which build is better to continue development with. Which is awesome, and what is NOT awesome is people like you that put there foot in there mouth talking about clogging the forums, at least his threads are useful. Yours is useless.
Somebody please list the differences between them beside the name
Thank you.
They're all android 2.2, they all have essentially the same kernel, they just have slightly differing versions of sense. So yeah, um...
I think the better topic for this thread would have been 'What are some of the primary differences people are seeing between the different builds mdeejay is working on'. Let's not bash the fact that mdeejay is doing something pretty un precedented on any device, developing 5 builds simultaneously!
They are each based on different roms and most have the same things functioning/not functioning (ie. gsensor yes, camera no) but I'll admit I was a little overwhelmed shuffling through the many pages on each thread. I really want to try one of his builds because I've read a lot of great things about them but I can't decide which one to use . I don't like switching back and forth too much because I need a stable build day to day and don't have much time to do a lot of trial and error, so I depend on helpful xda'ers and their reviews.
So, OP, maybe change the tone of your post to poll the pros/cons of each build for those that have been able to try several of them out.
Thanks!
WTF!

OMG shut your FACE I hate to add to this stupid thread but OP if you read anything other than just looking at the thread that says mdeejay you would know one is evo one is desire hd one is z one is lexicon they are all different builds so shut up and enjoy! Sorry but your question is stupid LOOK and you will see the difference. MDEEJAY keep rolling them out i cant get enough we will find a PERFECT stable build with everything working but we need to work together! I personally like the desire hd builds and the evo they seem to be smoother.

i agree with u ....
is the same of the same
maybe in last build he changeg kernel... maybe some better than others
An ass! That's exactly what you are!! Mdeejay is doing all of this without even a donate link. I have certainly tested all his builds and currently have 2 running. So u may not, but most find his builds and the options they offer useful. So please STFU if you are not going to contribute anything useful to the forum.

instead of being a ****, read the posts.
they are each based off of different HTC devices. with slightly different versions of their ROM.
for example the DesireHD and the DesireZ are two new phones coming out.
if you follow android phones, you would know this. since you dont know this i assume you are just here for sport. so sell your HD2 and buy an iFone
Mdeejay is doing an outstanding job
and haters..get the F*** lost.
I only to thank to mr mdeejay for hard work that we can try day by day on our h2d. Is with person like Mdeejay and the other devs that will be as soon a stable and definitive android on hd2. Person that lost their sleep only to give us news builds day by day.... So, i want to thank again this man... And sorry for my english..
STOP.
first off i am not to found of mdeejay but the guy is doing the job no one else is doing , so to OP , i think you can find something else or somewhere else to clutter the forums not here ...so i will give respect where its due and mdeejay gets respect from me so ..back off
Hopefully Captain Mdeejay will ignore this perp... he is probably jealous

I find it UNBELIEVABLE that some people still find something to complain about.
Mdeejay has given up his spare time to create something for the community, "FOR FREE", so that they can use something they are not entitled to use on their devices and still they are not happy.
Really, it is Unbelievable.

the name explains everything "KRAZY"
what KRAZY things people say....
The OP has a point - Mdeejay's builds are confusing with so many of them and all of them offering the exact same functions. It would be nice to see a spreadsheet or something that higlights what the differences are.
On the other hand Mdeejay does put alot of time into his builds and updates them far more often than any other chef. I think if the OP had just used a nicer tone his post would not have been out of line at all.
Most of them are based off other phones too, like the Z is based off the G2

Congrats bro and welcome aboard.
Just wanted to point out, this is the Dev forum, Q&A going in the General Section.
Anyhow, you Have Sense rom, Sense 2.1 and CM7 (no Sense, other ui such as LaunchPro or ADW).
You got too many choice.
Pick which you want to test first and enjoy flashing once you get addicted.
You could also put more than one Android build on your SD card. So you can test more than one at once without deleted the other.
Whichever you choose, Good luck
PS: Most famous are CM7 builds
Thanks Bro for replying
i m not new into flashing..already flashed so many phone..m already flashing addicted...i saw so many roms in this forums...i just would like to know that which one is bugs freeee
Thanks

Anyone who knows anything about software(or real life for the matter) will tell you - "it does not exist"
You will have a better luck asking what ROMs people are using and would recommend.
it's hard to say which rom doesnt have bugs... try first. i like the rom from MCCM HD 4.0. i'm using it at this time.
I can personally recommend the AmeriCan Android rom, been using it past months and updates makes it better and better ^^
Personally though, uninstall the NetFlix thing right after putting the rom on, it made my HD2 uber slow, the second it was gone, it was back to super speedy
Hi, could somebody please link me the thread where the multiple versions of abdroid is expaned? Thanks

I´ve been running AmeriCanAndroid GB2.3.3 on my HD2 for over 2 months now and have less bugs than my friend with a stock (updated) DHD.
I could recommend this one and version 2.3.4. I suggest you try that one and give it a go. I can't imagine that this ROM is not good. Be sure to read the last 10 pages of the ROM thread to be sure. I think that´s the best way to check if the latest version doesn´t have any significant bugs. Good luck!

I have used the following SD Builds during the last 3-4 months. Do not want to switch to NAND as I still have some use for WM. Even tried some of the older RAM builds like Darkstone's SuperRAM Froyo. I am giving my preferences below and check my sig for other info.
1. AmericanAndroid, have tried almost every build since it came out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
The two most recent Builds, 05172011, 05192011 and 05212011 have given me the most issues with significant screen lag and persistent wait periods when using these. I tried them with three different SD cards (4G C2, 8G C4, 8G C6) and still had issues. I am now back to the 05032011 Build which runs superbly on two different SD cards (4G C2, 8G C4). I was surprised to find that the Class 2 SD card was the smoothest although I am sure there are variations based on other factors beyond the scope of my intelligence. Everything works like a charm on 05032011 build except Market acts up sometimes. Follow the link for all Builds by date here: http://uploading.com/linklists/debamfea/ACA
2. May 14 BOYPPC Build
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970542
is good too but as is usual we all have our personal preferences and I feel more comfortable with AmericanAndroid. This would be my backup if AmericanAndroid goes loopy.
3. Have used MccMBoxMaX Build too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038694
I have kept it on a separate SD just in case. Pretty solid build but I am sticking to AmericanAndroid for the time being.
I have tried at least 8 releases for the past 6 mths. From one chef to another chef. But for the past 3 mths, I m using MCCM SE V3.3 . I must say it is stable n fluid. I have also recently tried other GB version from MCCM n other chefs..... but I guess its not really that stable yet. Probably someone can recommend me a stable GB version. Would LOVE to get my hand on one of em.
this isn't to mislead anyone...i feel i've gotta say.....mccm doesn't compile his builds from source. his is completely reliant on switching files around....i have yet to see anything i'd trust for a second from him. he's had previous problems with actual chef's and even developers because he breaks xda's rules and steals builds....this isn't just a warren dislikes mccm thing.
use those builds if you wish......but those very builds are 100% reliant on the taking of someone elses compiled source. if he at least built from source code, he'd get some credibility from me.

Hi... Warrenb long time no see. How can u give comments without thinking . Any proof that i stealing your build ? In xda rules u can post build if the other dev give u permissions . Just after giving permissions then give fake info to Moderator after u realized that i better tweaker than u . I got ban because of warez , big 'thanks' to u . But at the end just live with it . Yes, I approve it.
Thanks to HaPeWe for the time and effort to convert it from NAND ROM.
I have no time to install WM just in order to test SD build.
And I won't like to release a SD version without testing.
That's why I don't release it myself.

You were banned for good reason, not once....but twice.
You are NOT CURRENTLY stealing the ACA build because the mod's gave you the choice to take it down or be banned. Wouldn't get too confident. Most of the time, including in our case, you acted before getting permission. I wouldn't be surprised to find out most of your "builds" are the same.
If Tytung approved one of your "hack" builds then that is one example where you did in fact get permission.
What you do though in messing with builds has been observed as quite sloppy, and has proved you to be more of a "theme" applier than anything. I have never seen evidence of anything more than a theme applied. You never have shown source code for the majority of your projects, and when you do it's typically been to a place of no actual value for other folks to check out the source. You can't post people to look @ CM code when your using another dev's compiled source which stems AWAY from the stock CM repo's, for example. But the mod's have been lenient in that regard.
I think carefully before I respond, each and every time. I've not said anything which you could refute, mccm. Or was there something I said more specifically about your technique which you wanted to address?
Tweaker? Sir, if that is what you are then we should give folks like you your own subforum under here, called "Tweaked builds from people that have never compiled a build themselves." ACA is a compiled AND tweaked build, and our files can be found in builds across the HD2 forums.
Any developer which would accept the idea that a fellow not building from source code could make their ROM better than they could themselves, would be kidding themselves and they'd know it.
Nuff said, moving on.

U should know the ROM or Build is come from Google we are making it works for HD2. U your self are not builder. Or else u won't be here. U will working with Google.

I see this has turned into a bad conversation.
I don't know why you need to quarrel guys, I mean I have no business of meddling but since you've startet arguing I feel I should add a small opinion, knowing I don't have much right to do so:
MCCM's builds don't even run on my device, and Warren's ones work for 5 minutes then corrupt my SD! and yes that includes AmDroid.
it's not SD-related since I'm already using a build that's stable enough to handle 3 days of constant work on the same card.
Both of you guys are great in what they do really, considering the number of users you serve, but I don't think a public thread is the right place to argue. PMs were created for a reason, and there are MODs to complain to and stuff like that.
In my opinion, no matter who's right here, you both are looking bad.
HD2one
It is an older build, but very stable. I get 2970 on quadrant so it takes full advantage of the HD2's power. I've tried new builds, but i always come back.
apparently the dev has closed the thread and stopped support to his rom.
if anyone is still using it, please provide some details about v4.2,like speed, stability ,battery life and etc.
many thanks
Was just going to post up about "where has the rarity roms gone" but I noticed your post,
I have been using 4.2 and its fantastic, what equivalent would you recommend instead seeing as the development has stopped?
Too bad
I wish he would keep his great work up.. He have so many great stuff in his roms but he has stop and i wish we can get him back to keep his work up again!!
Devs give up rom work for many reasons often due to stupid posts and hassle from noob users .
Sometimes roms are closed due to breaking the rules of XDA .

Ignorance is bliss .
ICS Android 4 has not been released by Samsung .
XDA have a leaked ICS v KP8 Beat test rom not everything works that's why its not released .
You can install or one of the custom roms built around this . But its not for noobs and will of course void your warranty .

I installed it 1 time and i was not happy whit it so i got back to official stuff xD
I found the latest CM9 build from Codeworkx to be stable enough as a daily use ROM. But I prefer TouchWiz to vanilla, so I switched back. It was very smooth though.

Rather than being smartasses, why not give the guy an actual answer? If you think that said 'noobs' will be re educated by repeatedly posting that video, you're delusional. Either that or you genuinely think the same joke is funny after the 3rd time in a row, in which case, you're still delusional.
With this kind of attitude rife, nobody will learn to use the forum correctly or get the answers they want, creating yet more noobs.
To answer OPs question - no, there is no official ICS builds
from samsung yet. You're welcome to try a leaked build or Cyanogenmod 9, which I personally find stable enough for daily use. If you want real stability with every feature functional, however, you're going to have to wait to the official version from Samsung.
Next time, to avoid this immature nonsense, do a quick search and browse the development forum.

Some good points, however a bit of mickey taking should be expected
I am running the CM9 ICS ROM and it is very good even at this early stage. Bits like audio out through the Sammy car dock aren't working (as you'd expect) and the video issues are annoying but not show stoppers IMO so I'm using this as my daily driver for now and will see what the battery life is like.
The only real way is to do a backup and try it out for yourself.

I'll tell you why.
More and more people are coming to these forums, and disregard everything that's posted. They jump in, create a thread, ask the same questions, and expect us to do the work for them.
If this specific user took the 15 minutes to read, he would quickly understand that there are two versions of ICS for the GS2 - leaked builds from Samsung, and CM9. He would also quickly understand that none of these are "full working ROMs".
However, seeing as he couldn't bother himself for 15 minutes to at least try and figure things out on his own, I definitely can't be bothered to write a valid response and to encourage that kind of behavior.
The video basically says "search before you post". He should search before he posts. It isn't funny, it isn't a joke, its actually pretty sad the video had to be created in the first place. But it was created, and it does exist, and so I'll use it whenever its appropriate.
XDA is not anybody's personal tech support - this is not a 1-800 number to dial if you're having problems or questions regarding your device. It is, though, an enormous hub of information that is readily available to anyone who's willing to put in the tiny bit of effort required to properly use it.
Soulicro well said put it in a nutshell .

Depends of the guys, i really appreciate the work of developers, but in 1 month, i see like 4 or 5 updates, with annoying updates like, NEW KEYBOARD, CHANGED BUILD.PROP and others, but nothing with NEW KERNEL, if possible get 3 or 4 developers to do 1 thing!! Or Stable kernel only in 2014 :/

A few questions:
There are not many devs left here. Do you think it is a good idea criticize our work like that?
Are you saying you don't want any updates unless it is a new kernel?
Have you considered trying to build a kernel yourself instead of complaining?
Just asking.....
I heard that the devs working on porting the XOOM kernel have progressed. Hopefully in due time...
It will, it's under development.

What exactly is the point of threads like this? People around here are getting just too good at nothing but whining and complaining. FYI, opening a thread like this is exactly the same thing as asking for ETAs, and I really hope everyone knows you NEVER ask for ETAs here. Instead of littering the forum with useless whiny adn wallowy threads like this, you could have helped the development efforts yourself. But no, people would rather just sit around idly and complain and whihe.
If you want a stable and fully functional ICS/JB right away, get a different device. If you want it in some undefined time, have patience, be supportive and QUIT ASKING. Better yet, instead of just waiting, take initiative and MAKE IT HAPPEN YOURSELF.
Hey Guys, I've reported this thread. I've got fed up with threads like these. Only asking for ETAs, growing up a bad mood... not throwing good vibes at all. We need patience, not ETAs. If you need a kernel so bad, then you've gotta have patience. That'll do the trick

wow, you've reported this thread?! all the guy was asking was how things are progressing. After the initial excitement of the ics leak there hasn't been anything of very much. He said he appreciated the work of the people who put the time and effort into trying to keep our phone as current as possible. Who do you think you are Ravilov labeling someone as whiny and wallowing (although just what you think the poster is wallowing in is beyond me - he asked a simple question). As for your pathetic 'no one asks for eta's' comment... I can only assume you've been spending too much time here.
Thankfully, the question was answered bu Syl and takemeouttt.
This is a forum, where people ask questions and, hopefully, get civil and informative answers.
1) New Keyboard -- Because people wanted to try the new keyboard with 'Swype'-like features.
2) build.prop edits -- Because different people are having different issues with the ICS roms. Devs are pretty much taking stabs in the dark to see which combination helps which device. (tegra part?)
3) Xoom Kernel Port -- Is compiled, but will be a while before everyone can test it and/or have a stable release (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941654)
As for your original question, there's a strong possibility we might, but don't expect it anytime soon. If it was that easy, Motorola would have done it at the same time they did it for Xoom. Remember, developers might also upgrade to newer devices. Would seem pointless to develop for a device--that even the manufacturer abandoned, when you have a shiny new device.
The current "team" of developers ARE working "together". In my experience, it's hard to collaborate on something with another person remotely, but they seem to be managing it. Going by the thread, there are at least 2 active developers. Might be others who aren't updating in the thread, but are simply contributing by email and/or other ways?
This thread may or may not be pointless. I think if it gets closed at this point, it might help someone trying to find a simple answer without going through 1000's of posts in the development section.

I bought an atrix 2 weeks ago, i'm waiting to the delivery from China, so i think i would keep it for a year
I think that the community is simply misguided.
There is not a single post which clearly explains that we hit a brick wall regarding battery life.
Not knowing that, it IS frustrating to see a "new update!!" as the title of the ROM post and find only minor graphical changes inside.
There is a simple way to solve that, we need a sticky with an explanation regarding the entire Atrix ICS issue.
It should have a brief explanation that the ICS and JB roms that we have now are incomplete and generally suffer from graphical issues due to the old kernel constrains and even though we have a leaked version of the original ICS kernel, it is only barely functional and in most cases far from being a daily driver.
It will save a LOT of browsing (for me at least) since I check almost daily on the progress in the development section and it is quite a hassle to browse through all the latest comments for a clue of any changes or new ideas of how to make the rom work better and it will inform all those that don't bother checking and simply end up disappointed in the new changes.
Creating such a post is easy and I can do so if you'll approve of my idea, but the major point is to make it sticky and up to date, even if the update is simply updating the title just to show that no progress regarding kernel development/ ICS implementation for the Atrix was made.
I have no problems updating it either.
I adore the dev community here and all of you guys.
It's nice to see optimism where other developers and testers would just give up.
I love you guys and keep up the nice job. :highfive:

I think epinter tried taking the kernel from either the galaxy r and other similar phones and came out with the same issues as we get with the leaked kernel.

Tough to say if it will ever happen, but at least there are a few people still interested enough to try. Seems the current best hope is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016837
All the top devs are working on the kernel plz support them by donating something try reading QandA section
