I have before firmware version2.1-update1, baseband version T959UVKA2, kernel version 2.6.29, build number ECLAIR.UVKA2.
Now i update Bionix 1.3.1 , Kernel version 2.6.32.9 Firmware version 2.2.

If you want to go to Fish's ROM you can Odin but you don't need to. Just make sure you do the 3wipes and read the OP.
Thank you guys, for fast answer and help !

I may be trying to do the impossible. If anyone can straighten this out I would appreciate it. On the theory of not trying to fix what ain't broken, the speed of the setup in my sig works perfectly (until FroYo arrives), but the only issues I still have are reception with 3G & the phonecall (hardly ever 4 bars) functions. I looked on the Team Whiskey site and put the JI6 modem zip on my SD card and attempted to flash it through Clockwork. It "appears" to have installed, but when I go to settings>about phone it still shows the baseband version as T959UVJFD. Is it not possible to use the JI6 modem without an "updated" ROM, or is there a way anyone knows of to do it, maybe using ODIN? TIA...
Holy moly I thought I was the only one with this problem but anyways. Just pull the modem.bin out of the zip flash it through odin, in the phone section

Cool. Nothing in pit or pda?
No I just left that alone.
Edit: to be on the safe side you should flash the 512 pit you can find it in one of the threads. Or do a search for eugene373 2 modem bin something like that. But I didn't use one and it worked fine.

There was someone else in the fusion section, that had the same question. Phone said, modem installed successfully, but the status shows JFD. According to the dev, once it says installed it is installed. The status might not show the updated info.

The baseband version is contained in the build.prop which won't change when you flash a new modem. But if you flashed it, its installed.

so you have a stock Vibrant...you wanna overclock?
Are you rooted? Im pretty sure that too run a different kernel you need a diffrent rom other than the stock JFD.
You might get more answers if you posted in the right section.

ok well 1st off - know that what your about to do can potentially brick or damage your device and that myself, xda, jesus, mary and the hly ghost, the hobo behind the walmart and your aunt frank have nothing to do with this so you can only blame yourself
i would get to know ODIN real well first off. make sure you are able to get into download mode. via the hardware method OR ADB
use the Vibrant bible to find info on that.

Not trying to be a wiseguy but:
Read the "Vibrant directory ( Bible ) and search this forum. Look for the subjects you're interested in. All questions are answered you just need to study before you start.
Learn how to use odin - if you follow the links you will have everything you need to get back to stock in an emergency.
Read about and learn how to use one click root.
Read about and learn how to use Rom Manager to flash roms
Use Titanium backup to backup your apps
Good luck and have fun!
Ok real quick I have odin I have the stock vibrant rom from xda I am pretty good with this stuff just new to this phone I also have a few roms but kinda wanna wait for 2.2 but would like a new kernel I have rom manager and a back up of my rom but I am having a problem getting adb to work just been using the terminal apk but I need help.with this and thank you for your time

its a 2.2 Froyo based off the tmobile leak
everything works as it should and its fast and very stable.
OP you need to spend a couple hours reading and understanding several things. Most if not all you need is in the vibrant bible thread. If you can't get adb to work its almost always the driver. Must understand odin just in case something goes wrong. Its hard to truely brick this phone but not impossible.

No, that only saves your data and apps. You need to save it or you can use the ones located in the vibrant library. You can always revert back to stock using odin but do so AT YOUR OWN RISK... Good luck

The Bible is the greatest thing EVER.
Just seriously use how to use Odin. If you can learn how to get into download mode consistently and connect to odin successfully you will be fine. Then learn how to use recocery, which is very easy on the vibrant. you just install ROM manager from the market and flash clockwork mod recovery. learn how to backup and restore and you can flash things through recovery. Zips are for recovery, and Tar files are for Odin. If you want to OC i recommend "Corev2" by team whiskey (since JAC has dissapeared) which works with most ROMs and should work well with stock rooted. There is Odin files and zip files for stock kernels, jfd and ji6, which you could just flash over if you dont like it. Nandroid backups dont backup kernels, so make sure you have the right kernel on when you restore something. You can find everything in the BIBLE like everyone has told you to try. One word of the wise, if you load a Froyo 2.2 on your phone and then revert back to 2.1, make sure you flash a 2.1 kernel first before you restore. So many people think they brick after they do that.
And usually if you are waiting for official firmware, it appears here on XDA ready to flash (i flashed official ji6 before it was availible OTA) at some point. I would recommend you use a rooted ji6 ROM with Corev2 (and possibly the ji2 modem to save battery life but i like the ji6 modem) this will let you OC and UV without setcpu. this is kind of a scattered response but im just trying to help. I am running AOSP jk2 1.1 by Anderdroid and i LOVE IT.
It looks like you have everything ready on your phone.
Just learn Odin, you don't really need ADB. Make sure your phone can go into the download mode via the vol up and vol down key and connect USB cable for download mode. Its a Triangle Icon with android robot with shovel.
There you should load the Pit file and Tar file to flash back to Stock in case you brick you phone. As far as flashing ROM goes, remember this!!
If you flash a 2.1 Kernel + ROM like Fusion 1.2, and create a Nandroid backup through ClockWork. Then decided to go to a Froyo 2.2 kernel + ROM like Obsidian or MacnutR11 to try out. Do not restore Nandroid backup to 2.1, it will brick your phone requring u to ODin back to stock.
Bottom line 2.1 ROM will not work with 2.2 kernel and 2.1 kernel will not work with 2.2 ROM. Don't mix them up.
Basically if you are running a 2.1 kernel + rom, then switch to 2.2 kernel and rom. For some reason you don't like it, make sure you flash back to 2.1 kernel + rom instead of doing a nandroid restore.
Ive been looking and can't find an answer to this question, though I'm sure it exists somewhere.
When I flash a rom (this will be my first, from stock 2.1 planning to go to bionix v) do I need to flash the rom and then boot into the os, and then back into cwr to flash a modem, then boot again, and then back into cwr to flash a kernel. Or is this all done in one process?
If just one process how do I get the build I want together as one zip? If this the rom builder in the bible?
Last but not least.....what build (rom, modem, kernel) would you guys recommend for going from stock 2.1 that is stable, fast, smooth, and sweet?
Thanks in advance. XDA has taught me everything I know. (which isn't much but is growing everyday)

Root your phone then install rom manager. Download Bionix-V and place it on the main directory of your internal sd card. Then open rom manager and boot in to recovery. You may have to pick reinstall packages. Flash the bionix zip. Then choose reboot option. You don't need to flash anything else. The modem and rest are all in the bionix zip.

Im rooted and have rom manager, titanium, clockwork etc.... Also backed up with cw.
Basically Im at the point where I flash. But with all the posts I read about the different kernels and modems people are using I got confused.
Wasn't sure bionix v had a kernel and modem in it or if I had to put that together.
Is there anyone that would recommend nero over bionix for stability or are they both just as stable?
And if I wanted to use different modems or kernels how would I go about doing so?

Every person has their own suggestions. Bionix-V is great but so is Flagship V3. They all include the Kernel and modem so you dont have to flash seperatly. Read through the thread of the rom you want to flash and I amsure you will find out experiences with other Kernels and modems. But the best thing you need to do is start trying for yourself.

Step one is to get off of eclair and start using froyo.
If you follow the installation instructions on this thread, you'll get a stock EC01 rom.
Once you have the rom, download either of the EC01 downloads from the theme page (with or without animations; that's up to you) to your sdcard, then boot up cwm and install the zip.
Can you understand the instructions on the EC01 thread, or do you need further help?

Thanks for your help, do I need to flash to eb01 like it says? (I dont like eclair)
You don't NEED to do anything aside die and pay taxes. Should you follow the tried and tested method? Well, do you want a process that is tried and confirmed working our do you want to gamble with something that might or might not work? Are you then willing to trouble shoot?
Its recommended to wipe when going from eclair to froyo anyway.

You should follow the instructions exactly as listed to have the best chance of things working. So yeah, odin the stock package.
And yes, you would want to wipe data if you were simply installing a froyo rom over an eclair one (otherwise you'd get force-closes all over the place). But the stock package (which is froyo and much newer than dj20) takes care of that automatically. (Also, the instructions say not to wipe during the rest of the steps.)

Can someone tell me why no matter what I try to flash I have to use the beauwolf restore to use my phone again. Originally I had froyo on ka6. I wasn't a good k andernel for battery life and have all the voodoo stuff and bln support. what am I doing wrong? Thanks
I'm not too sure what "beauwolf restore" is, link maybe cuz now I'm interested. I know you should probably upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 before you flash any kernels. Good luck!
Try flashing using sgs kernel flasher its free on the market.
